- [Intermediate] Redo tutorial for how to fold the Mini Magic Ball (designed by Yuri and Katrin Shumakov - www.oriland.com ) using a new easier method that uses no tape or glue.
This video is dedicated to all of those who have been struggling to fold this beautiful and amazing Mini Magic Ball. If you are one of those people, please proceed with care -- make exact folds and don't rush; pause the video if you fall behind. Judging from the comments on my other Mini Magic Ball tutorial, about half of you had major trouble folding it. Hopefully, this time around, a much greater percentage of you will achieve success. If you are one of those who have already mastered this model, that's super!...Let's please be kind, supportive and encouraging in the comment section to those who are still struggling to fold it. Thanks!
In this tutorial I show how to fold it from a 4.25- inch X 11.5-inch rectangle which is simply half a sheet of letter-sized printer paper. It also works from half a sheet of A4 paper (I tried it!)... On the initial pleating sequence, you'll end up having to make one extra pleat to complete the fan, but it still happens to come out perfectly with an odd number of sections along the length, so you don't need to cut anything off.
It can also be folded from a US dollar bill (3X7 rectangle) and I have a separate tutorial for that: • $1 Dollar Mini Magic B...
This is the Mini Magic Ball, but I have another tutorial for the full original Magic Ball here: • Origami Magic Ball - N...
The Magic Ball and related designs were published in the book "Origami Magic Ball Wonders" available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/1505835054 or the digital version: www.oriland.com/store/ebooks/main.php Upon purchasing this book I now see that it contains a method for folding the Mini Magic Ball without tape (dating back to 1996!), but my method is different in at least two ways:
1. The folds in my method are made from a different angle which saves the folder from having to reverse dozens of creases
2. The final lock uses a one-unit overlap instead of two which is a little more efficient in its use of paper.
I wish you good luck and good skill in following this tutorial, and more importantly..... HAVE A BALL!!! (...and not a crumpled one!)
Here's the link for where to buy the paper cutting tool I showed in the intro:

Hi friends! This is my fifth and FINAL Magic Ball - related tutorial! I have many new models that I want to refine and teach and I'm sure many more that I have yet to design. I always enjoy hearing your ideas for what new models you would like me to try to design. Cheers!
JeremyShaferOrigami its funny because i made every magic ball and pretty much every model you have it took me a year though
JeremyShaferOrigami I bet this comment won't get pinned
JeremyShaferOrigami you should teach some of your flashers(the oscillating ones mainly)
Could you try to design something having to do with a herringbone tessellation? That would be really cool!!! I always enjoy your videos! Keep doing what you do!
JeremyShaferOrigami, Hey Jeremy the mini is easy fo me because i have folded a thound time already. I will give you a demo video of the magic ball.
Simply an outstanding tutorial. It might be a tad over 30 minutes, but every minute is well worth it. If only every complicated origami tutorial could be as detailed and easily understandable as is this one.
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Thanks Jeremy Shafer Origami! It is really easier! I am folding my 3rd magic ball now! Thanks for the great tutorial!😀😀
Thank you so much! This has made it so much easier. I struggled with the airplane and water base before, but now you've shown me an easy method!
Thank you for teaching us this fun and more simplified magicball
THANK YOU I CANT IMAGINE WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT YOUR origami tutorials!!!! I finally made it after one year and I’m 10!!!
Wow u took 1 year lol
I'm also 10
jeremy:in this tutorial,I will not fast forward

Thank you so much Jeremy this really helped me 😄😄😄
I tried to make this at least 1 year ago it was too difficult then I tried again today and succeeded in making it. It is fun to fidget with this and I tried again because of quarantine thanks for the video from a long time ago Jeremy

i agree
Yes sir his the greatest origamist on UTUBE

Jeremy you have the best origami tutorials on youtube. They're so easy to follow!!
after a long time, i finally managed to do it. wow, that was satisfying to finish :P
Same for me! It's a really cool fidget toy!
That is genius. I make magic ball with tape but the method you did there at the end is just genius
Thank you! It is late an I am tired of folding paper for the whole day, so I used some glue to connect the opposite edges and make a ball. But I belive I will progress next time! Thanks for this folding method!!
This is so much easier than the normal Mini Magic Ball, thank you for helping me with this.
I did it
Thank you for doing a redo the other one was really hard but I finally did it
OMG thank you so much Jeremy! I finally able to make my own mini magic ball thanks to your easy-to-follow instruction!😄
this the best tutorial among all on youtube... instructions were clear and no cut aways or speed ups... thanks!
Pretty easy to make thanks!
what can i say escept thank you for making the best tutorial of the model ever, while i was following other's tutorials (which, by the way prevented the model from being pure) it was just kinda undoable, but with your tutorial, not a drop of sweat and done well under an hour, thank you man!
Thank you man my son done it without wasting any paper. You are awesome
I can't wait to add this to my collection
Hey jeremy! I folded the mini magic ball from the previous tutorial and this tutorial. And yeah, this was a bit easier. Thanks!
Can you make some thing
This took me a full day to build then my brother dropped it in water ):
sad life
Couldn’t do it for three years and when I got it my friends brother crushed it
omg that sucks
Saaad!
That’s sad
Thank you Jeremy for this outstanding model. It's so fun to fold.
I made the model and I love it!! : )
This took me 4 1/2 hours but it was so worth it thx. I was bored on quarantine so I made my first magic ball. I tried making this two years ago and failed but yay me did it tysm 😉
haha
I made it in 45 minutes
After years of trying to make this, I have finally found the perfect tutorial. Thanks Jeremy!
Wow ur from 2017
I’ve been making a digital circus version red in the back and blue in the front. and thank you for helping me make the stress relief because I was really stressed back then.
a little complicated but still got the hang of it. THANKS for making it easier!!!!
You are a legend Jeremy
I can’t even do it, it’s so hard
I don’t know how you do it!
i did it thanks so much jeremy could you make a cube version of this model :)
I know the spiral cube one
Ok
Talking to you Rich’s w
can you make something easy and cool related this magic ball .anyways god gave you this natural superpower and I think that is why you are my favorite youtuber .thanks to you I made it
Me too brother
These type of people make me cringe
You are the best origamis I have ever seen. Your teaching and your steps are very good. This is though model but u thought it very easily. Thanks for it. Take more videos like this I liked all the videos of your channel. Think so u will make more models like this. Good luck👍👍👍👍👍
I’ve been whatching his vids since his first upload
wow, pretty hard, but really impresive once it's finished! I almost liked it better before you make it a ball but I am afraid I wont be able to put it back into a ball if I take it apart :P
I couldn’t fold it and it is so long and hard
@@ritangii..7616it was easy
Thank you Jeremy for making a easier model
I've given up so many times with the other video. Its a good thing you're so determined to teach us all :)
Jeremy your filled with *DETERMINATION* got that undertale reference
The key to doing the mini Magic ball is focusing lets say I glance of for a second without me noticing I miss a step when it comes to the the folds on the outside it can be tricky so just try to focus!
Great job yet again, Jeremy! The magic ball is fairly complex origami, and while nothing (but maybe a lot of practice) will make it easy, your tutorial is much simpler to follow than others I've tried, and I love your lock fold! Thanks for all your hard work. You're a very good teacher!
Thanks for your feedback and encouragement.

I did it!!!!! .Thank you for showing this video jeremy,And also rob's world made a paper wallet too!that is pretty coooool too!
No tape, okey................thank you jeremy!!!you are sooo awesome!
who else had most trouble joining the ends nad than re creating folds because paper was too thick???
thank you so much after 4 years of trying i already made it ! :D
So the magic ball is a (19+2)x8 grid with Xs in every square?
I kinda feel bad for JeremyShafer because he has did so many hard work and persevered to teach us and after (8?) a couple years he only has 427k subs i think he deserves more
It’s the editing that takes suck long time. He says designing isn’t that hard
Bruh Moment me to I subscribed
Bruh Moment Yes he does he deserves more than 427k subscribers bruh moment keep it up Jeremy shafer
At least his subs LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE him
I agree
I have made this 5 times and can't stop making this design! Such a great model Jeremy!
FINALLY! after countless hours, I made it at the age of 11!
Congrats!
JeremyShaferOrigami Thank You! Your by far my favourite Origami RUclipsr with such creative new models! Keep doing what you do!!
How did you do it??? Its so hard, especially the last step where you connect the 2 sides
So did I but at the age of 12
I'm 11 too
I finallydid it after around 3hrs. Your redo was better
YOUR ORIGAMI IS THE BEST!!!
HI JEREMY
I HAVE A PROBLEM
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO REMAKE THE CREASES ON INTERLOCKING IT
I suggest before you do that you try to fold very hard on those specific creases. It worked for me.
Rimanshu Gupta .
Me too
+Rimanshu Gupta I had the same problem and after a while of struggling I decided to fold them again and make the creases very sharp, and then I was able to do it pretty easily.
Rimanshu Gupta it is but it's not impossible trust me
When i saw the letter opener i was like: :O i need that
keep up the good work your folds are rad
I'm happy wih this!!!!!!!! proud to your member!!!!!!
Ij😇😇😇
That intro tho. You looked into my soul.
Sweet! Were you able to fold it this time around?
JeremyShaferOrigami not this time but I'm getting there lol. Have a great day
JeremyShaferOrigami thanks
sabrina williams q
So hard
😭😭😭😭😭😭you
Great job
It took me a while to figure out the last joining part , but still I managed.
Amazing I just did it Jeremy!
Thx for the amazing tutorial
you explained in the best way i could not make without the diagonal creases i watched this video and i did it is very simple but it needs practice more time
I brought it to school and everyone loved it they wanted to have one. someone asked for me to teach him
RECT The Art King I’m creating my own variation which is a grid of triangular creases rather than square
RECT The Art King btw I like ur Gohan
I wish my school let me bring origami, i used to show everyone but then they banned origami saying it was too distracting.
@@reversesmurf3270 i dont know how it gets disturbing... same in my school
Same
Excuse me, but Jeremy, I dont quite understand how to pop out the ball from the cylinder that you make. On my cylinder all the reverse folds are done, but all the points face out
Please Help?
I suggest go to Rob's World tutorial. I think he kind of explains more.
the intro is so funny xD I love it!
I loved it!
I FINALLY MADE IT!!!!!!!!AND I WILL MOVE INTO THE BIGGER ONE
Thanks so much uncle Jeremy safer .
The part where you "reverse the fold" was really hard for me, even after 10 tries, so I wasn't able to finish. :(
Hey Jeremy! I have mastered this model and i went on the the normal kagic ball and i failed 5 times and still have not got it right. Your tutorials are so great but i have found the normal magic ball harder. I can do all the creases but joining the two ends to make the ball is trickey. I hope you see this comment and thanks for all of your hard work.
My advice to you is to try it out of larger paper. That should make it more like the mini magic ball. Even if you have to tape two smaller sheets together.
I don't like unfolding all my hard work in the end when you have to connect the two ends it so stressful
I’m on the magic ball now and I messed up on the very last part☹️☹️☹️☹️ I can make the Mimi magic ball now without any video or help tho😎😎😎
Really finally after 2 years I've done it
Salma Ghosh it has literally been 2 years lol 😆
Congrats man!!
Took me 45 mins
I couldn't do this last year but somehow when I do this after I make a four square flasher and a pyramid flasher I can do it now. Hmm.
I did it thanks so much Jeremy 👍👍👍👍👍
Jeremy: Done with diagnol pieces, now let's do with the other diagnol piece.
Me: OH GOD PLZ NO,NO,...NOOOOO
OMG! I MADE IT! THANK YOU
Venera D It’s impossible
Shut up

I have had in total 4 mental breakdowns trying to make this, I CAN’T DO IT :(
I think your face says it all
I love this model I’ve memorized it over the years and now I can make it in under 12 minute
lol, I can just tell you've timed yourself from this comment.
@@chex6121 🤣
I've memorized all the steps of the regular magic ball, the hard one:)
Your a beast
@@khian9441 i memeorise it too. Its real simple
This is so frustrating! I'm stuck on 20:52. No matter how hard I crease my it, my paper just won't cooperate! lol this is stressful. :/
Akbar Fard if u make the diagonals really sharp it will help you , i got it after like 4 tries
I was too but I overcome it
Same so hard
i am stuck on 20: 52 too!
Aleysa Centeno stick pm 20.53
all the people who disliked this vid are the ones who failed. Facts. Straight facts.
True
Faxxxxx
lol
but you see, the whole point of this video was for people _not_ to fail so I guess they just salty they didn't get it the first time
This was amazing and fun too make! I made it on the first try! Keep up the amazing work
After 32 minutes I made it. This is a GREAT origami tutorial I would definitely recommend
This was so much easier! Love it
This is the best magic ball video ever this is the only video that actually helped me be able to make a magic ball
すごい👏😳
私も作ってみます。
Great redo 😁☺️😊😍😄😏😋😜
jeremy make a tutorial of flasher bigbang cause origamists nowadays can fold almost all of your origami so making a tutorial of
flasher bigbang will do good
bro its same like flasher supreme but only difference is that the flasher big bang is made from 32 x 32 grid
Update: ive done it 3 years ago i taped 3 cartolina together and wet folded it
First time doing origami in years and I got this first try. Thanks!
thank you so much this is so much easier to mack the the big magic ball
I Don’t know why i only love your video’s
