You have a wonderful shop. I would die for a 30x40 shop! In my experience, the Makita Front Rail 12" Sliding Miter Saw is my favorite --- best for a 12" miter saw.
@@dougemerson thank you! It’s been a long journey. This was last years shop tour, I uploaded a new shop tour video about a week ago with the tools I’ve added, and work flow changes.👍🏻
Matthew Peech did a review of tools. He checked a Hercules Miter saw against his older Dewalt. They we’re basically the same. The Hercules is half the price at about 330.00. It’s frequently on sale for around 289.00. And anyone that says you don’t need a bandsaw in your shop doesn’t have a bandsaw in their shop or they have broken their bandsaw.
Nice shop. You’re blessed to have so much room. Huge shop space and you’re using it well. I’m already planning to do an air cleaner like yours. Lots of ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Nice tour and nice shop! I am over in CDA and have the Metabo 12in slider. I like it because, I can get it closer to the wall, as the dual rails face forward, not out the back. They have had some killer deals at Lowes. I did upgrade the blade and it is a beast. I am in the middle of doing several videos myself and it is in a large part from videos like this one. Good job.
How’s it going neighbor! 👋🏻I actually haven’t looked into the Metabo. I don’t really need a saw that sits close to the wall, my miter station is fairly deep, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be a good option. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll keep an eye out for your up coming videos. 🤘🏻
Maybe I'm late here and you've already upgraded your mitre saw. I have a makita 1219 and it's a great saw, but i am not doing crown or dealing with tall stock and should have bought the 10" (not quite as much deflection). The Festool is nice but if you're just using it as a breakdown tool then I don't think paying over twice what a dewalt, makita, bosch etc is worth it.

Nice shop! I'm overdue for a shop makeover. It's super cluttered and not very efficient. I've started purging some of the clutter. But need to move things around. I just recently got the Festool Kapex. My main two buying points... Dust collection and accuracy. It costs a pretty penny. So if you just break down stuff and dont really care about the accuracy... I don't know if the value is there. A lot of reviews about the dust collection say that it's not "all that". And I kinda thought it would be better. That is... until I cut without my dust collector on. Man it really shows how great it really is then.
Nice shop. I used osb on the walls in my shop as well. I haven’t painted yet but I really like being able to screw things to the wall any where I want. Happy man cave days brother.

A drill press and a 5 HP compressor with aluminum lines. Small spray paint booth ( air brushing) 2 sand blasting cabinets. A tiny jewelers one and a standard one. 2 tool boxes loaded with precision measuring tools along with mechanics and carpentry stuff. Storage cabinet with all chemicals, oils and such. Small table saw and a Kobalt compound miter saw which is great and I’d recommend to you. Several sanders and grinders . Everything minus the mill , lathe and compressor are on wheels. All this and still room to work 😜. Enjoyed your video.
Hey brother! 👋🏻😂 I definitely have a problem with getting side tracked 90% through a project. It sounds like you have a really cool setup. I came from a 3 car garage setup where I built a Jeep and did my woodworking. I know all about the car shuffling game.😂 thanks for watching and commenting! 👊🏻
@@brewbuilds enjoyed your video. I watch a lot of shop ones. Planning on trying to do one on mine soon. Something really kool is Modern Machine Shop may be doing a video of the machine shop I had. Sold it to my sons but still think of it as my baby. This has been a big magazine for machine shops for years. Now it’s a You Tube channel as well. Pretty stoked. Started with zilch and had 13 CNC plus manual machines when I retired. I used to have a motorcycle shop for years as well. Just love making stuff with my hands, regardless of the media.
Dewalt 780
I’ll give it a look, I haven’t bought a Dewalt tool in awhile. Thanks for the suggestion.
Top crank Dewalt RAS are terrific, 7790, 1030 round or square arms come cheap
HOW DARE YOU CALL ME OUT FOR SPYING ON YOUR SHOP LAYOUT
Creep! 🫵🏼, but I like it! 😜
Yay, re the grounding. Plastic is an insulator, wrapping a ground wire around it doesn’t accomplish much, really.
Totally agree. I do high voltage electrical for a living, and it amazes me how many people get so wound up about not grounding it.
Buy once cry once kapex would be the way I would if it’s gonna stay in place if your gonna take it places then dewalt would be way to go
I’ve looked really hard at the kapex, I think it’s a great saw. I’m just not sure I’d use it to it’s fullest. 🤷🏻♂️ I am a big believer in the buy once cry once logic though. 👍🏻
I would get an enclosure or keep the 3d printer elsewhere, its not designed to operate in environments with the level of dust in a work shop just FYI. Jealous of the shop build, very nice.
I absolutely agree, anytime I’ve got a big project going on with lots of cutting, sanding or whatever I put it in my shop bathroom or I put a large garbage bag over it. My ultimate plan is to build a large enclosed shelving system to house a few of them. Thanks for watching. 👊🏻
First online creep comment? Sweet shop!
😂😂 hell yeah! Us online creeps need to unite! 🤘🏻 thanks for watching and leaving a comment. 👊🏻
Nice shop… but dude come on… you know when your stabbing arrows in fish you ain’t worried about no bathroom….. especially with 3 acres… mark your territory if you catch my vibe. Lmao.
that bow has been mounted in my shop for 5 years and has probably been in the background at some point of every video, and you are the first person to ever comment about it. Although I have a lot of dirtbag qualities, I do have standards. When I was speccing out my shop, the bathroom was high on the list. 😂👊🏻
Sigh, made it through 5 minutes until I was bored to death.
At least you left a comment…🤷🏻♂️
@@brewbuilds Just being honest. You could have done this tour in 15 minutes or less, but I'm sure at least some people enjoyed the detail.
@@NelsonJ1 oh no worries, everyone is entitled to an opinion. 👍🏻
