    Excellent video for presenting the news of Nikon's acquisition of Red! To sum it up, it was a masterstroke by Nikon! A small company with great value and greater potential!

    With Nikon S glass to be corrected for video, Nikon adding some software on its upcoming cameras to further improve that will make Nikons glass owners happy, increase sells and bring more people into Nikon ecosystem

      Yep. Nikon has been making some smart moves lately. From Z8 to Z8 and surprise release of the Z F. Now purchasing Red. Still improving auto focusing. It's gonna be crazy to see how many folks come into the Nikon ecosystem.

    Whatever happens going forward, it will happen very slowly. I'd be surprised to see any changes at either Nikon or Red in the next two years.

      I do agree. It will take time. It will probably be 5 years before we see any Red Tech in Nikon.

      I know. Just thing auto focus on a Red with Nikon glass. That would be amazing. Things to come make this purchase exciting

    The Z6 codec you're referring to was ProRes RAW. It was a $200 upgrade that you had to ship your camera back to enable.

    • @eddiecarrascojr
      @eddiecarrascojr  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yep. And to be honest not a good attempt at B-Raw. Davinci Revolve version of pro res raw.

    • @SooksVI
      @SooksVI 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@eddiecarrascojr it’s not an attempt at BRAW. ProRes is an Apple codec. Both RAW codecs released in 2018.

    • @guglielmo_arte_naturale
      @guglielmo_arte_naturale 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@eddiecarrascojr pro res raw and b raw are different and and share a lot of similarities except for the davinci workflow which is a bit slower and you have to pay 80 $ to deconde into cinema DNG RAW files to then work them in Resolve instead BRAW of course can be worked easely as it is from BlackMagic not Apple.

    I doubt anything changes. It's more likely Nikon will simply own Red and the patent. Now I doubt they switch Red lens mount. If anything Nikon would produce a new body.
    Nikon is just moving pieces to gain back it's global market share.

    • @GrenlandUnderVann
      @GrenlandUnderVann 6 месяцев назад

      What will make Nikon the most money in the next 3ish years: Try to sell Nikon gear with internal compressed RAW or make a few dollars for every camera sold with compressed internal RAW in the same time period before the patent is DEAD...

    • @dct124
      @dct124 6 месяцев назад

      @@GrenlandUnderVann They didn't buy the patent. They bought the company. Also no company is looking at a 3yr window. Minimum it's 5yrs, avg. is 10yrs, and long term is anything 20yrs or more. Nikon is a publicly traded company. If you're paying attention you'll realize it has an upwards trend. Not sure where people get the idea of it ever going out of business. They've been saying that 20yrs ago when I was in college.
      Where Nikon will benefit the most from this acquisition will be from it's other contracts, such as Nasa, and medical imaging companies.
      No one knows what they plan to do with Red, b/c they've said nothing.
      As far as we know RED is a subsidiary of Nikon. Nikon just owns 100% of the company shares. It's very likely RED will still operate as RED, not Nikon RED. Nikon already uses the technology in the Z9. The case was thrown out. I doubt anything really changes, shoot, even Nikon stock didn't change much from this.

    In my extensive and obsessive research I discovered E mount to Z mount adapters and the ENTIRE Sony shooting community is not held back by their lens catalog. I'm gonna try a Zf with the 24 g master and see what happens....
