This camera definitely has wave forms. It's in the settings, you have to look deeper
I have a Z6ii, do you think it's worth upgrading to the Zf?
Great review, I just brought one! What the track that start arround 7min ?
7:09 im pretty sure this camera does have waveforms you need to dig deeper in the settings i think g14
Just turning the camera on and off is satisfying that clunk feels so premium
I only don't like the analog dials wich does not work properly... You cant set iso to auto with analog dials... And its very awkward. The same with shutter speed
What's that cooling tower of a lens converter all about? Is that what those things all look like? I have vintage Nikon lenses (28 and 105) and am drawn to this camera partly because I could use them with it. But if the converter is that chunky, I'm maybe not so keen!
Overall its very appealing. But size and weight... just a little too bulky and heavy. A bit.
how use pixel shift with moving objects? like waves in sea?
Where did you get those red buttons hanging on the strap lugs. Did they come with the original package?
Those are for Peak Design straps.
The BW switch on the back of a camera is actually cool. I assume it's possible to adjust the built-in BW mode, right?
all right but CANNOT accept that at this pricen range the battery life is very, very, very short
i just want a dedicated aperture ring. otherwise its perfect. i like the shutter thunk... the round eye piece. the voightlander lenses are great with that retro metal shell. if nikon redo the 28 & 40mm pancakes proper retro too... that would be so amazing. The last thing i like about this camera is it looks like an old timer camera. taking it out - people are less intimidated and more candid. i shoot with the screen also folded in. whip out a canon R3 and f2 zoom with speedlight, people clam up. i no longer shoot for work. for me this is a personal camera. low number of shots. each one carefully setup and the joy of setting up the shot. like in the old days on my FM2 when you had 36 chances to make it count.
I don't know if someone said it already or if you still have the camera but It does have Waveforms. I m not sure under what menu but it does have the option to display it for video
Between ergonomics and retro you can only pick one…
What adapters are you running to adapt these vintage lenses to the camera?
Love the look of the camera and the red button you added!! ❤️ Hope to maybe get one of these bc the retro style of it is so damn nice!
no 4runner content?
It’s coming. Got two videos in the editing bay.
Nice looking forward to it
I really like my 4runner, but it isn't perfect. Had an annoying dash squeak that i fixed with some foam and silicone lubricant. Now the AC compressor is starting to whine. It's very reliable , but i expect that from any car at 3500 miles.
It has its quarks. I still really like mine. Still 37k and going strong
@@eddiecarrascojr I do too. It gives me a lot of confidence
Too bad about having to use an adapter for non-Z Nikkor lenses ... and it being a non-optical viewfinder.
I have a video in the works for adapting various retro lens
Good apocalypse vehicle
That it is.
Super interesting! Thanks for sharing, cant wait to see the results
Thank you. Just trying to try other videos on this channel.
This is all great but I will never ditch my D700, D3s, D4, D850 etc.. Besides its capabilities I still prefer the form factor so the size. I like it heavy😊
I do miss the heavy feel of a DSLR, that is why I use my Z9. Sadly with having video and photos as a part of a daily life the DSLRs just aren't enough for me anymore.
Great review -- this camera is very useful. I use it for street and travel photography and it does a phenomenal job, particularly for candid, quick, and unobtrusive street portraits. Yes, the Z9 has better autofocus for such things as fast moving animals and birds but not by a whole lot considering what a Z9 costs. It has to be said though that using a large prime lens with the Z9 is much easier to do because of the generally higher performance of the Z9 and the much more comfortable grip. The Small Rig grip for the Zf, or the Neweer one, is highly recommended. I see this camera as a tool that will open up a lot of exploration of different lenses and styles of photography. While serious wildlife photographers will likely prefer a Z8, Z9, or even the new Z6 Mk 3, for a hobbyist or occasional wildlife shooter, this camera would be enough. For street and travel, it is perfect. Even for from-the-hip, zone shooting, the autofocus of the Zf is very reliable.
Thank you. True even at a starting price the ZF is a content creator camera. If not a Z30 or ZFc do really well. I do agree Z9 is definitely better overall but it is almost $6000 after taxes. Firmware updates can definitely improve the ZF.
There is NO 'Y' in NIKON if you don't believe me ask NIKON its their company ! big thumbs down !
Thanks for helping. I will have to ask Nikon USA next time they have an event. :)
Great review, ❤
Thank you! 🤗
It's huge. If there were a small version, I'd buy it immediately.
The ZF c is smaller than the Z F
@@eddiecarrascojr Yeah but not the same camera at all. No full frame. ONly the name is the same. I guess the styling is similar too.
No hate, all love. But why is the color so dang bad in this video. It looks terrible. I double checked on my TV. The talking head parts are really bad
Thanks for the notice looks like RUclips messed up the color grading. Thanks for watching
I have mine for 2 months now. I never had a camera that was this easy to shoot! Love the autofocus, love the fact I can use my old F lenses and get awesome results, love how easy it is to work with these RAW files, this sensor is awesome in low light. I have a d850 but this is the camera I take with me everywhere. I bought it because I wanted an everyday camera but I didn't check anything before, I went for the looks and got so much more than I was looking for.
I really enjoyed using my old lens. My Helios 85 is beautiful on here
I'd like to place an order in the next day or so...do you have some info for me on the case you use?? Thanks very much...
Sure thing. This is my the exact model I have. www.colorcase.com/collections/pelican-cases-air-1535/blue
Cool video...thanks for sharing. I like the case you use. If I wanted a Pelican case like it, what would I look for or order? Is it the same as the 1510 Pelican case with the lid organizer? Please give me some numbers so I can check it out. Thanks very much for your time. Love the video and look forward to the next one.

I have a similar setup, only I have the 40mm f/2 SE cuz it looks so sexy with the Zf. Also, 40mm is only 6 degrees narrow than the 35. Plus it's super light. And, as someone else mentioned in the comments about clinical lenses, the 40mm has a classic 6/4 optical design (however the 2 aspherical elements limit CA). It's not a sharp, but it produces nice colors with good bokeh. The 35mm 1.8 is a great lens, though. I also want to get a versatile zoom...maybe the 24-120 when its back in stock in the US.
Been wanting the 40mm f/2 se. Sadly when I bought my Z f the was no Z f with a 40mm special. Thanks for watching!
How's that sort of strap feel on the neck when you have something like your 24-120 on the camera?
The strap is a hand made brand. Here is the link if you are curious. It feels very balanced. Not too heavy. Depending on the length of the strap it can swing around.
Glad to hear it’s got more than just looks, think the fact the videos good & the flippy screen is going to open it up to a wider market.
It's definitely a fun daily driver. Worth every penny.
@@eddiecarrascojr thats reassuring to hear cos as an amateur im attempting to take the 'one & done' approach! The zf looks like it's made to last. Thanks for your insight 👍
This camera rocks with native Voigtländer lenses in retro style design. Perfect match!
Agreed. Once I can afford a Voigtländer lenses I will definitely make a video.
I just got a pentax k5, its not crazy high resolution but its still hugher than most consumer fisplays can handle. And well i use it for astronomical stuff where most things are a point source anyway, more resolution juwt makes focusing harder.
Pentax makes great cameras. Just not a lot of options for third party options.
@@eddiecarrascojr I blame that on everyone refusing to standardize.
I'm a Fuji user, I'm kinda baffled about some of the praise of this camera, specially the lens collection that goes with this camera. But I wish other brands made these retro cameras, they are perfect for street photography and to carry around everyday.
Thanks. I do like this lens has so many lens. There are some cool third party lens that match the retro look.
2:00 - I don't believe people are actually complimenting your camera.
The Nikon ZF does look cool
Well the comments sometimes say otherwise.
It definitely feels good to use as well.
@eddiecarrascojr . No doubt, Eddie. Some people don't like the Zf. I do. I think it looks cool. I wish it had a silver option. It's low light performance is spectacular and would be a great travel camera for me. I would need an after-market grip to enable the use of larger lenses, such as the Z S 24-120 f4. I'll keep wishing.
Seeing some rendering issues at 3:13 where the hands have some issues
Yeah I know. RUclips has been poorly rendering my videos lately
2:00 AI not AI-S
Thanks for correction
For God sake, Nikon is pronounced "Neekon"!!! Yes the Zf is awesome, they finally did it! Enfin!!!
Thanks still working on my American accent
The rest of the world calls it ‘Neekon’
Great video relaxing to listen to as well!
Thanks for watching
Nice video . for outdoor walks, street and portraits of my little daughter, what do you recommend on Nikon Z f? tamron 28-75mm f2.8 di iii vxd g2 or Nikkor z 24-120 f4 s
The 24-120 f/4 is my go to. Trying to keep a simple fixed focal length just to play it lighter and easier.
try more modern 28mm f/2.8 AIS, I was shocked how sharp that lens is even wide open Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 is also great especially for portraits and Tokina 100mm f/2.8 macro for, well, macro and overall other work is amazing all of these lenses are manual focus except of Tokina but that one requires focusing motor so it's manual focus anyways on modern bodies 😢
I’ll give them a try.
The reason it stands out from a crowd is that it’s HUGE. Nikon Z mount was designed for lazy lens designers. Big wide mount. Big heavy lenses. Crazy design decisions.
It does gather more light. Makes it easier to build lens
@@eddiecarrascojr 🤣🤣🤣
Subscribed! I'm just a hobby photographer who "tries" to keep a tight budget on spending. I had switched from sony to fujifilm exactly because of the film profiles and the manual controls of the x100v and x-t4. Given that I really enjoy bird photography, this camera's actually functioning auto focus really attracts me. It is one of the most beautiful cameras I've seen, and I agree with all of your points. If I were a professional photographer, this one be a must have expense :D
Thanks for watching more Nikon content coming soon
Same experience with the Zf. Got it last fall, satisfying some FOMO lol... figured I'd get it out of my system and send back... well here we are 8 months later and the Zf has become my go-to daily carry. Low light files are the cleanest I've seen, rarely need to de-noise in post. Amazing.
I don’t like the PASM switch; the lack of aperture rings on the lens; the goofy “1/3 step” on the shutter dial; the flip-out screen; and the lack of more customizable buttons. If they designed it more like the X-T5 (and had the lenses to boot), I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
Dont forget image quality and autofocus performance. FUJI can't beat the full frame Nikon and the lenses for FUJI are really pricey (for the smaller APS-C image circle).
@@jorgepinogarciadelasbayonas With the third-party lenses available, who needs Fuji lenses?
Third party Fuji lenses are not great. Well apart from the Voigtlander lenses. Which are fully manual (I love that but others might not)
I've been a Fuji shooter for 4 years, and I've been eyeing this zf since the release. I think you convinced me to switch, lol. The autofocus is much better and i have a lot of old nikkor lenses and it's fits well with this camera. Thanks for sharing.
Eddie, thank you. Which adapter you used with this lens?
