As a sony apsc user with apsc glass who values apsc size factor and low price but also being a professional videographer this is basically the camera I've been dreaming for to upgrade my a6400. I'm so excited apsc is not dead. Love your content 💖
❤ so awesome Arthur is getting access to this upcoming tech. So great to see how far Jenessa and Arthur have come since technologymafia and Japan. What a great channel. I love Arthur’s efficient review style. The man respects our time.
Definitely. Saves up from those “what’s going on RUclips -insert hand slap towards camera transition*” bull most RUclipsrs do. My guy defo respects our time!
I'm not a videographer, only stills, and Nikon at that for the past 50 years, so you get a rough idea I'm no spring chicken, just a lover of good imagery and photographic expression. But your RUclips presentation of this Sony FX30 camera really touched me with its authenticity, passion and belief, so much so that the idea of changing systems, changing photographic genre from stills to video has awoken and inspired a belief that maybe, just maybe that I might wish to go down a new path of learning, creativity and art inspired fun in my golden years. I like the fact that you were open in your confusion in understanding whether your admiration was for your partner or the camera and what it enabled you to achieve, quite understandable. Thanks for opening my eyes to the possibilities. Well done. Bravo.
Even tho I’ve upgraded to full frame bodies - your channel was the reason for me to get into photography with an A6400. Seeing you shoot this new FX30 - brought me back to the inspiration you gave me to get back into photography. I now own my little photo company on the side and do events. Good work sir - thank you.
To be fair mate, there's other users who flat out call themselves pros who when showing off the footage have not produced content anywhere near as good as that you pulled together. And the fact you didn't colour grade truly shows how wow this set up is for enthusiasts like us. Awesome video mate, love your honesty. Me personally, I will very likely be upgrading my ZVE10 to one of these as I feel like I've outgrown the limits of that.
Been watching since your Mafia days, Arthur! Love your humility and honesty (complete opposite from many tech/camera RUclipsrs out there)! And by far one of the best test sample of this camera yet! Continue to keep it real, Arthur
That video of your wife through your eyes through this camera was so intimate, and I definitely felt tears on their way. Thank you so much for that wonderful piece of art the two of you created. You're going to have this video the rest of your lives. You're so fortunate.
I can’t thank you enough for not color grading. Many reviewers just change color to their taste. Makes it difficult to gauge the camera’s potential, at least to hobbyists like me.
I am new to videography and own a beginner canon mirrorless. I appreciate the non graded video too. I got my canon for the color but this video out of the box is really pleasing to see. Wow!
I think you are under estimating your video talent , yes you have a lovely wife, I am sure many agree on that but to shoot that kind of video in an hour or so is excellent and you should be proud.
That is fantastic footage that you captured with the Sony FX30 Arthur. I am pleased to see that Sony is continuing to invest in the APSC sensor format and not just directing their R&D to full-frame sensors. I look forward to further videos and reviews as you become even more proficient with the FX30.🔥
your videos are so clear in the concept you want to give. ,and the fact that you involve your family in them makes them wonderful, you have grown a lot and your way of explaining is so honest, good job
1) What are its aspect ratios? 2) What millimeter lens did you use for your demo? 3) Did you use any ND or Black Pro Mist filters on your lens? and 4) Please do night shots and interiors--so that we can see the camera's capabilities in low lighting situations?
This is pretty exciting but the lack of an EVF is painful. But like you hinted, they probably wouldn't make this new sensor if they weren't going to put it in more cameras. Here's to hoping for the a7000 series.
I'm sure its coming within the next 12 months. Although I wouldn't be surprised if its not called an a7000. My guess is that they'll use the a7c body for it, and call it the a70c or something.
I bought a ZV-E10 last year primarily for video, but have been loving it for both stills and video. So far I enjoy the APSC format (and the smaller size/weight) so down the road I would love to have a successor to the A6600 to tempt me into an upgrade. This new camera is exciting though, so looking forward to see what else we can get from Sony for APSC cameras.
Proof a proper filming session is worth many test benches, when the operator knows what to do, how to handle, what to film, how to adjust and set. Great work, highly useful for all of us... thank you ! And great "model", indeed.
I think fx30 is much better in terms of quality since it has better sensor, processor and dual iso mode for incredible lowlight performance. With more features gear towards for video productuction no doubt it will surpass a6600. But it will be interesting to see though, highly doubt you'll see a noticeable difference with youtube compression.
I’ve really grown to appreciate your approach to camera equipment reviews. Thanks for being so thorough! If Gerald Undone is the most thorough for in-studio and equipment testing, you are certainly the most thorough in the real-world application of the tech for both video and photography 😁
Finally, dream come true! I was stock with my 6500, Sigma trio and more going back and forth with full frame a7c or a7 IV. Now everything is clear. FX30. Only pitfall it does not come with internal ND (or am I missing something?). It is real pleasure to watch and listen to your videos for many years and beautiful how you grow your channel both with love to your wife. All the best. Apsc rules again 😁
Well people...just stepped up to the FX30. Excellent camera. Went out and did some lowlight testing using just street lamps. Very impressed with the results. I have a pair of a6400 units,(they are great as well) but the FX30 is clearly on another level. I even boosted one of my shots to ISO 8000...very usable. I kind of did what Arthur did and went out and did some quick testing. 10 spots along a street at night, using street lamps, window lighting, yellow, white, and it produced amazing videos. Plus grading on 10 bit is so much better, a couple of simple clicks in DaVinci and you get a great result.
I'm planning on getting the FX30 for commercial work. I shoot on the a7r ii for commercial photography but I want to upgrade my video side of things and the FX30 looks to be the best camera out there for cost Vs quality
What do you think for a channel focusing on talking head / b-roll product shots in relatively low light... could this little camera be good enough (for my channel) OR do you think a full-frame sensor on say, a a7c or a7iv be THAT much better? I recently lbought the Canon r6 but was just disappointed with the lack of video features. Color science shmulor science!
Beautiful footage, I can't get over that you didn't colour correct. Great presentation by the way. Let's hope that this sensor and technology translates to a successor to the A6xxx series.
Ha ha I just bought an FX3 last week! Thanks to B&H for telling me - even when I asked specifically If there was a new camera coming out soon. I own quite a few APS-C lenses, but only one full frame Tamron 28-200. I was considering returning the FX3 for this camera, but I'm going to roll with it. Thank you Arthur, for another great video, you provide so much value with your videos.
Kudos to you Arthur! You have the most beautiful Sony FX30 video all across youtube far beyond others and you've got me sold for this camera. I can feel your love and passion in every angle. I'm rooting for GH6 but here comes the AF which Sony FX30 has to offer with almost same capability as the former that got me halted to buy it. I shoot documentary, run and gun style, 1 man team most of the time.
I pray for everyone who reads this that whatever they are going through gets better, whatever they are suffering with or worrying about will be okay, and that everyone has a wonderful day. Amen ❤
Great! After releasing the ZV-E10 and more recently the great new APS-C lenses, Sony has finally given some new traction and high hopes for this sensor format. The first new APS-C Sony sensor in a lot of years. And this camera is just great. Though, the fact that they've removed the mechanical shutter makes it a bummer for those that would ocasionally shoot also stills with it. Now they only need to release some other new APS-C cameras, starting with a photo-centric hybrid flagship (maybe with stacked sensor), and with a more pro-grade body close to the A7 IV (or to Canon's R7 / or to the new Fujifilm). And then some upgraded a6100-a6400 cameras, with hopefully substantally superior ergonomics (larger grip, better screen, new menu, more buttons, front wheel, joystick etc.)
That point about removing the mechanical shutter is very interesting! The FX30 is essentially a cheaper version of the FX3, and the FX3 is placed at a similar price and performance point as the A7SIII. They both have the same sensor and (mostly) the same features, except that the A7SIII does have a mechanical shutter and is a better hybrid camera. Does this mean that the new sensor in the FX30 will be in a A6700/A6800 that will be comparable to the A7SIII or A7IV (just for crop sensors?). I don't see why Sony would develop this sensor only for a lower tier version of the A7SIII/FX3. I don't think they will sell enough FX30s to offset the development costs when it's closest competition are the larger brothers.
Very impressive -- it's a whole new beast. The build quality and color science look perfect. Here's hoping Sony follows up with a next-generation APSC 'FX' body skewed toward photography to replace the old a6000 line.
This is the best video I've seen you do man!!! I started crying myself before the sample footage ended so I didn't feel too bad when you had an emotional experience too... Lol. It was like a "spiritual thing" I can't really put my finger on it... I actually stopped thinking about the camera review and got lost in the content. You and your wife are truly blessed bro. At the end of the video I was in shock the same way when I found out at the end of "The Book of Eli" Denzel Washinhgton was blind the whole time! I immediately watched the whole movie again. When you revealed there was no grading... I immediately watched it again!!! ... Lol. S-Cinetone is a wonderful thing. Been watching you since you were the techno mafia guy... please keep up your excellent work!
Nice to see some substantial video shot with the camera. Earlier I saw several other RUclips reviews of this camera with little if any test footage, just stats reeled off.
Wow, straight out of camera - awsome! Sounds like a "want to have" camera! I wonder and i would love to know how does the FX 30 perform with my favorite lenses (Sigma 16/1.4, Sigma 56/1.4 and Tamron 17-70/2.8)? I would love to know about that because I love the look of the Sigmas but since i have an A6400 (which I am also very happy with) I really miss an out of the hand image stabilization and more then 24/30 fps@4k. Thanks for You work and videos, I love them and really appreciate Your opinion and approach! Greets from Austria
I’m a stills photog, so I’m just over here getting hyped about new BSI sensors. 😂 New subscriber here BTW - doing a FF experiment after 10 years with my NEX-6. Your thoughts and coverage have been suuuuuper interesting and helpful!🙏🏻💯
Awesome as usual. I guess a little more the bottom of the cinema line than a flagship for the APS-C users, but it looks like bright days ahead for APS-C.
As a long time user of the A6000 longing, for an upgrade to a better sensor (photo orientated camera). How doze the FX30 stack up? This new camera looks amazing. However I may shoot the occasional short vid on my iPhone and thats about it. How doze this camera function for photography. Love the design and general features. Not sure if this is the path Sony is now going down, ie videography being their main future plan. I feel that all the cameras in the A6 series have improved over the years for features but not necessary in picture quality. I hope Sony has something in the pipeline. Would be interesting to see how this new camera compares against maybe the A6400 / A6600. Great channel as always Arthur. Keep up the stellar work.
Great video. I have noticed raving reviews from other RUclipsrs. But I like your style the best. You touch on the important bits AND share a representative sample of its recording capabilities. I wil consider buying one in 2023 when there is room in my budget to upgrade again. Thanks for your review. It was helpful.
I'm not a video guy, but I gotta say, that was impressive! Doesn't hurt that your model is so lovely. I wish Sony would show us APSC stills shooters some of that love. I hate the idea of moving to Fuji but at some point soon I'll give up on Sony and move along.
Would be interesting to see how the stabilisation compares to the Panasonic G9, GH6. Wonder if they brought it out to compete with the GH6. Rolling shutter will also be interesting to see. Price is not that bad especially compared to the GH6. Lastly cool that you’re now getting the support of Sony to be able to review their new products that early on.
The IBIS isn’t going to be better than the Panasonic’s but everything else will be. I have a G9 and love but this FX30 may replace my Pocket 4k. The image looks that good to me!
@dkonx Having both Sony A3 and Panasonic G9 I can tell you that the worst AF claims are largely exaggerated. Yes it’s not as good as Sony’s but so far I’ve never had any issues with it.
there is real scope for this as a camera for the indie film circuit, the setup costs would be significantly lower and potentially open up avenues in the downloadable film/TV market to people entering the field. I can see it being on my hit list for the near future as part of my own work.
Fantastic footage. This is the excellent quality of footage I've seen in other FX30 videos as well. I'm picking up mine this coming Monday, the 24th. I could not be more excited.
Arthur, thank you for the review. I'm used to shoot on a6400, but since then I've upgraded to the full frame. And I'm also get rid of the all aps-c lenses that I have used. Now I have a7iv and 24-70, and really thinking of buying fx30 as a "b-cam", or as a main cam for shooting video about my other gear. What aps-c lense would your recommend for the fx30? I mostly thinking about variants from sony.
Awesome review Arthur, what a fantastic camera ! It would be perfect for B-cam when I’m filming with my a7siii. I think it’s the successor of the a6600. 🙌🏻
As a person who doesn't own a single camera (I can't afford one) and who is a big fan of Sony cameras, every review of yours comes with great excitement. I've been following you for years and if one day I can buy something, it will be on your advice. You have a wonderful family and I wish you much further success in life and good health for you and your family. Like a child, I look forward to each of your future reviews of cameras and lenses.
I was in the same boat. I've been watching Arthur's reviews for years and I buy all my gear because of his reviews and the beautiful family he includes in his work. Real cameras are worth the investment. All you need is one or two paid gigs to get a return on the cost.
*Not going to LIE My Mind WAS set on the A7C but with THIS! I'll be Changing that Mind and getting THIS as it's the same Price AS the A7C as I'm looking for a Pure Video and this will Suit Me as I can still use APS-C lenses. It'll be a Learning Curve as I've never had a Cinema Camera B4*
Congratulation! Gz from România! Beleave or not , best presentacion till now, like you said, gz for your family and wife! Keep doina what you are doing, thx for all info what are you giving to US!

Well said mate 👌🏻
@@PhoonBucgeneMY definitely. It’s not a sales video. You can tell.

Far better than some big youtubers shooting around their studio, trees, bricks and lifeless subjects and
1) What are its aspect ratios? 2) What millimeter lens did you use for your demo? 3) Did you use any ND or Black Pro Mist filters on your lens? and 4) Please do night shots and interiors--so that we can see the camera's capabilities in low lighting situations?

My basic hope of new apsc: 20 fps continuous shooting, faster sd card write speed, faster sensor readout speed.
I was going to ask what you used to colour grade - and this is straight out of the camera?!?!?! Wow!
Great video! Lately the Laowa 10mm F4 lens has raised a lot of interest. Could you review this one sometime?
OMG!! This video needs to be the visual definition of true love! You have great skills.

1:30 was absolutely beautifully shot/modeled
Have you tried the electronic shutter while taking pictures?
Great video. I have noticed raving reviews from other RUclipsrs. But I like your style the best. You touch on the important bits AND share a representative sample of its recording capabilities. I wil consider buying one in 2023 when there is room in my budget to upgrade again. Thanks for your review. It was helpful.
I'm not a video guy, but I gotta say, that was impressive! Doesn't hurt that your model is so lovely. I wish Sony would show us APSC stills shooters some of that love. I hate the idea of moving to Fuji but at some point soon I'll give up on Sony and move along.
What an amazing cinematic quality :) Thank you Arthur!!!
Video looks great quality and dynamic range is incredible
I hope the new successor to Sony a6600 will have most of these features with a viewfinder and that would be awesome!
Yes, i think this makes sense.
Only 4k 120p and the raw options would be missing. But it will have an evf.
The best test footage from any creator who has reviewed this camera.
Don’t worry Arthur APS-C isn’t dying out, if you ever worry about that just checkout Fujifilm line up of APS-C cameras.
And great video as always.
Bad rolling shutter. ruclips.net/video/lfEOEssshIU/видео.html
@dkonx Having both Sony A3 and Panasonic G9 I can tell you that the worst AF claims are largely exaggerated. Yes it’s not as good as Sony’s but so far I’ve never had any issues with it.
Wow that was straight out of the camera?!? That’s insane
Not even one lever of adjustment. The colors and tones are incredible.
@@ArthurR hopefully more companies will start doing that.
Wow amazing video footage. It looked so professional and well done. Fuji X H2s has got some real competition
All Sony needs is to release a hybrid Stills/Video version of the FX-30, an A6700/7000?
This Makes me excited for any future renovation on the 6000 line
I'm very interested to see if/when this sensor becomes the standard for Sony APS-C cameras going forward. a6200 anyone? Fantastic video as always!
When do you think are we going to see the new Sony APS-C Line (a6600 successors)? Any speculations/actual information?
Did you use a gimbal for your video or is it
just the steady shot of the Fx30
Awesome video. Thanks! I ordered mine, really excited.
It's a gorgeous footage and the golden hour looks amazing. Did you make some color grading or its just straight out of the camera?
The setting sun color graded s-cinetone. There are more lighting situations in which this camera particularly 'shines'.
10:00 - For a "cinema" camera, I wish they gave it dual 1/4 20 threads on the bottom to prevent twisting.
Just incredible. I just ordered. Also, the wedding ring you chose looks just like what I asked my husband to get me for our 30 year anniversary. :)
I totally agree with your comments, and I say that your video was incredible, fantastic.
I had to give up photography but I still enjoy seeing your reviews and how great your shots are. Keep it up!
Nice video. Would like to see a follow-up video comparing the FX30 to the A7C seeing that they are the same price.
there is real scope for this as a camera for the indie film circuit, the setup costs would be significantly lower and potentially open up avenues in the downloadable film/TV market to people entering the field. I can see it being on my hit list for the near future as part of my own work.
I was saving for a FX3, I am getting this camera now. Will get the FX3 later.
Which Picture Profile would I select on my ZV-E10 for S Cine tone, please? Your video looks amazing for straight out of the camera!
Fantastic footage. This is the excellent quality of footage I've seen in other FX30 videos as well. I'm picking up mine this coming Monday, the 24th. I could not be more excited.
What lens do you use for this cinema lens?
Very good man, I was about to upgrade to a7 IV for video, but this changes everything, thank you !
Wow, awesome video Arthur!! I just want one now, hope it gets to Mexico ASAP!
Check out the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8! Only $799
@Sound Speed! thank you🙌
love the video. interested in this camera. Does this have better IBIS than the A6600?
Great review, thank you. This is almost certainly the camera I've been waiting for.
Awesome review Arthur, what a fantastic camera ! It would be perfect for B-cam when I’m filming with my a7siii. I think it’s the successor of the a6600. 🙌🏻
I'm not in the market for a video camera, but it looks amazing. I'm very excited for the future of aps-c
That quality is a step up
As a person who doesn't own a single camera (I can't afford one) and who is a big fan of Sony cameras, every review of yours comes with great excitement.
Awesome video! what lens did you use for your cinematic footage? thank you for your time.
great video. thinking about this for weddings.
Brilliant video!!! Do you happen to know what happened at 2:56 ? was it auto focus?
