    wow, thats a high quality rig build video!
    really love your visual style with your VO + background music. Felt very honest and you really showed all parts in detail.
    Keep it up!

    Not gonna lie it kinda bugs me all of these youtubers with top tier rigs when they're spending most of the time on their desks. Not saying this is the case, but most of the time these guys are just pumping gear down our throats :( Gear reviews really have to change

    • @BenGleasonMedia
      @BenGleasonMedia  Месяц назад +3

      You know, I actually agree with you. I've honestly been feeling the same way, not just with other peoples content but absolutely my own. Fortunately, RUclips is not my full time job and my main source of income IS making videos, just for other people. I'm not out shooting music videos, high end commercials or feature films with my camera rig. In fact a majority of my paid video work is creating social media content for OTHER people. Which puts me in an interesting position, unlike other full-time creators, to not rely on sponsorships or paid reviews in order to support my channel. Don't get me wrong I LOVE reviewing camera gear and would love it if my RUclips channel was my full-time gig, but something definitely needs to change... in fact its going to! 👏

    • @BenGleasonMedia

      @MuttHouseMedia Nearly identical to be honest! I like it for the silver color and that’s really it! The rest of it is just like the SmallRig or the Tilta! 👌

    Love the rig! A word of caution to the dummy battery - couple of folks have bricked their systems. Safer to use USB PD from a power bank or small rig v mount!

    • @BenGleasonMedia
      @BenGleasonMedia  6 месяцев назад +4

      Totally valid! There is always a risk when using dummy batteries, that’s why I HIGHLY recommend the Kondor Blue cable. Its a very high end cable that has been tested over and over again, BUT if you don’t want to have any chance then I totally agree to use the USB-C port to power the camera.

    • @GlobalShutterNY
      @GlobalShutterNY 6 месяцев назад

      V-mount USB-C is much easier/ safer than dummy battery IMHO

    • @unlockthepicture
      @unlockthepicture 6 месяцев назад

      @@GlobalShutterNY I am always wondering with USB-PD. Doesnt that harm your battery?

    • @GlobalShutterNY
      @GlobalShutterNY 6 месяцев назад

      Many current (pun intended!) V-Mount Batteries have USB-C PD outputs - that is what they are designed for - so no-def does not harm the V-Mount battery. At least for the Sony FX30 the USB-C PD input in the camera not only runs the camera but charges the battery you have installed - so if you ever need the rig stripped down for discreet run-n-gun you are charged and ready to go as well. Win/win. I also use the other V-Mount battery output to run my monitor. @@unlockthepicture

    Sweet video! What is that multi tool you're using? to set up the rig?

    • @BenGleasonMedia
      @BenGleasonMedia  3 месяца назад

      It’s the Peter McKinnon multi tool but DONT BUY IT 😂 it is crazy overpriced! In my opinion. SmallRig makes a couple that are just as good for like $15 - $30 USD

  • @ivanl4206
    @ivanl4206 6 месяцев назад

    Any tripod recommendations for that rig?

    • @BenGleasonMedia
      @BenGleasonMedia  6 месяцев назад

      I'm probably not a good source for that because the tripod I use was $80 on Amazon 😅 BUT! I would just look at any tripod with a good fluid video head! But if you want to check it out, this is the one I use amzn.to/3GKyx03 I bought 3 of them!

  • @joeumali7375

    why didn't you get a kondor blue d-tap cable for your monitor?

    • @BenGleasonMedia
      @BenGleasonMedia  4 месяца назад

      Because the cable that came with the monitor works great!

  • @Shalin.S.Shah.

    what's the reason behind not just mounting v mount plate on rails but buying a seperate system? Doesnt it take away lot of flexibility as far as distance is concerned? As with rails, you can mount battery plate further away from screen and also this provides you with an opportunity to buy a plate with bunch of d-taps and ports?

    • @BenGleasonMedia
      @BenGleasonMedia  2 месяца назад

      The reason is really behind allowing use of a V-mount without the rails. This entire system could be run, with an AF lens, without rails. Otherwise, I am completely on your side that an actual v-mount plate would allow for more power options and flexibility. Not against it, just didn't do it in this build. 😄

      @@BenGleasonMedia thank you for quick response my man. Im really struggling with my rig and need your help.
      I have s5ii, smallrig full cage mounted on it with nato handle on top. Top handle is mounted on Nato rail with 15mm hole for Smallrig Manual follow focus. Monitor is mounter via arri hole on front of handle.
      I have smallrig rotating nato side handle on left side. Just behind the follow focus.
      1. My wrist seems to get screwed up of I put anothet handle on right side or just hold the camera grip.
      2. For smaller canon fd or other lenses, follow focus cant come back to match the focus ring because my side handle is there. What do I do other than putting side handle on other side?
      3. Do I buy your same new smallrig V mount setup or get into rails since Im already struggling with follow focus and handle on one side?
