What I think Piccoloo's next goal is? Becoming the guardian of the dragon balls. Any of them. Maybe even start a clan to protect any planet's dragon balls from being missused. Would be the perfect arc finisher.
i like how Piccolo almost defeated Super Buu, he led him into the room of time and spirit with the plan of sealing him inside if Gotenks lost. his glorious trap and he held the door open politely for Buu. Sadly Buu got out, but even Buu was shocked he did that, i think Piccolo needs respect for that cunning plan.
He’s easily the best strategist on the whole team. He knew that the best way to fight Goku in the Budokai was to take a hostage. He had Makankosappou in his back pocket against Raditz, he basically commanded the team against the Saiyan invasion. He caught Cell napping by playing possum and letting him monologue. And of course his strategy against Buu (as you point out). Which makes a lot of how he was treated in a lot of Super pretty grating. At least until the lead up to the ToP. Honestly, I feel like he would have been a better team captain than Gohan, since he has a much better understanding of both everyone’s power and their personalities. Plus he has the unconditional respect of everyone on the team (yes, I’d even go so far as to put Vegeta on that list. Maybe not Freeza, though 😂 ).
Piccolo Jr. started as a guy who missed every vital organ, but grew to be a vital organ of Dragon Ball who's dearly missed when missing from the story.
@@masterbetty2806 Most likely, nothing. Piccolo managed a finishing blow/ring out against a fusion of half the Namekians of U6. Granted it took him putting everything he had into the Makankosappou to do it, but still. He's probably the strongest Namekian of *all time*, even if he wasn't fused with Nail. He's done well for himself, especially given how comparatively weak Piccolo Daimao was, even in his rejuvenated form.

Ultimate Piccolo? Now there's somethin' to make your brain itch: what kinda boost would Piccolo get out of the Old Kai's ritual? I mean, consider how long-lived Namekians are, as well as his overall durability and spiritual awareness. He's only a couple years older than Gohan, so he's got more life left in him than anyone else on Earth. Could even go all-out with it unlocking some kinda divine spark inside, Kami was (very) minor divinity as guardian so its not too much of a stretch, that ends up with him eventually gaining divine ki like Goku and Vegeta, thus showing that Saiyans aren't the only ones who can achieve that kinda power. Well, Saiyans and whatever Toppo happens to be, I suppose. Come on, y'all can't tell me that Namekian God Piccolo don't sound sweet as *hell*.
It sounds cool and i feel he is the only one that should be a legit god due to Kami.Saiyans having godly powers isnt good imo,i hope they lose their powers and god ki
Just imagine if Piccolo ever learned Kaioken. Especially stacked on an Ultimate buff. He can probably tolerate way more multipliers than Goku ever could, just due to his regeneration abilities and generally superior ki control from all that meditation (which is why I think Piccolo has managed to punch way above his weight at a few points in the series). I’m all but convinced that, by the time Goku and Vegeta hit their ending years, Piccolo will be one of the very strongest beings in all the multiverse, just because he’s gotten so far pretty much using the same techniques to power as Jiren and putting in the work, even if it hasn’t been super flashy.
I would kinda like to see Piccolo make his way into God Ki or something unique. While its pretty obvious that he is not going to be replacing Dende "up on the lookout", it certainly feels appropriate that he would at least in some form, be able to tap into divine, demonic or maybe even Zalama based ki / magic. When we also consider what we know about Piccolo potentially being able to do with various techniques, such as Kaioken if he ever wanted to learn it, as well as consider his history and ability to use magic (even if only minorly). Piccolo is very much setup to become the "Ultimate" mentor of the dragon team. Able to accumulate the knowledge of them all and pass it on to later generations. Who knows, if that actually happened we might even see room for new techniques to appear in the future! (Just have kaiohenshin in mind now :D)
@@christopherlake9667 He was also able to sense the Supreme Kai, a divine being. That isn’t god ki, exactly, but it certainly makes a strong case that he could manage it.
Namekians can live for more than 500+ years as we ve seen with Elder Guru and Monato, Kami would have been around 300+ years old when he fused with Piccolo. So Piccolo still has plenty of time to develop and tap into his true power
Piccolo also has a connection to Dende, but it’s really interesting he has his own house now & isn’t living on the Lookout. Power wise, in the manga he called Gohan the 3rd strongest & Piccolo lasted longer in a fight than the androids, at the very least he was equal to 17 at that point. Buu might still be stronger than Piccolo but I’m unsure. Piccolo’s current goal seems to be to do whatever is best for Gohan. As for a new goal? I’d love for him to want to investigate Namekian history, start a colony of Namekians on Earth or whip the Supreme Kai & Buu into shape so he knows the universe will be in good hands.
As you said, I think Piccolo needs to decide what he wants. The fact that he was able to find a power that pushes him well past what he thought his limits were goes to show he's still got something left to give as a warrior. But he needs to decide whether or not that's a journey he's willing to go on or not. If Toriyama/Toyotaro are truly setting up a "True Namekian Origin" Arc like some of us hope they are, this could be the perfect opportunity to expand on Piccolo, who he truly is, and what he truly wants now. The Moro and Granolah Arc had Vegeta facing his shady past and doing his best to right those wrongs. Goku is currently remembering Bardock and Gine, something that (for better or worse) could change Goku's character forever. Just like those two, I genuinely believe there's still a story to be told with Piccolo.
For all its faults, GT did well by Piccolo giving him a powerful end and a purpose even if its largely offscreen. I'd be sad to see him go in Super, but I'd take an evocative swansong over a fade into obscurity.
I want to see Piccolo make a decision for himself, what he wants to be. Every decision he's made, he's been forced to. Even his greatest accomplishment thus far, training Gohan, was born out of necessity - Nappa and Vegeta were coming, and everyone, even Gohan, needed to be as strong as possible. Plus he had - at the time - the idea of turning Gohan loose on his father once the Saiyan threat was dealt with, but came to like the kid too much to go through with it. Plus the whole dying to Nappa thing. Piccolo needs to make his own niche in the Dragon Ball universe. I don't mind if it's just as a mentor - training Gohan, Goten, Trunks (and by extension, Gotenks) and Pan. But I want him to make that decision of his own volition, and fully embrace that role. I don't mind if he still continues training them even if he decides he wants to do something else with his life. He just needs a new character arc, and it needs to make him relevant in the ongoing story, rather than just being a background character for the Saiyan Show.
Considering how in the Moro saga, when Piccolo and Gohan were the only ones left fighting against Sangabo, ( Moro's strongest grunt, second in command, essentially the escaped convict version of Nappa, and was given an even greater magic boost in power than anyway else ) while the two INFINTE ENERGY powered Androids were literally taking break due to exhaustion, with 17 even admitting how surprised he was that two those could keep fighting like that, and how hard they were fighting against such a foe, and on such even terms with each other, I'm pretty sure its a safe bet that piccolo is way stronger than the androids now and is super close to, if not, evenly matched with Gohan now, Manga wise anyway. If you can outlast and continue fighting harder than a being that has limitless energy and stamina, than you must stronger, so in the manga, Piccolo should be able to fight against a SSGSS Goku, not sure about SSGSS with Kaio-Ken x 20, but still, definitely should be at god ki level by now, again, Manga wise anyway.
I'd say what we have been seeing piccolo do in the anime is what Goku said he wanted to do in the buy saga but decided he didn't care anymore , which is to train up the next generation to protect the earth. From training Gohan to goten and trunks , from mentoring dende and now training pan. He really has become the new master roshi for the future z warriors. I really hope piccolos new form has to do with God ki , I feel like it's kind of weird one of the characters who was actually called god at one point hasn't shown any interest or knowledge in this power introduced in super. I'd like to see his new goal to become as strong as he can so he can help the next generation get even stronger
Piccolo is my favorite character. I thought it was weird he was put on the side when Android 18 showed up in super. I would love him to train up Pan and Gohan again, and him getting that power up that way.
Fun bit of trivia that often goes forgotten: Piccolo will not age, as he has inherited King Piccolo's wish for eternal youth. He's still youthful in DB Online in Age 1000 to prove it.
Piccolo is powerful on his own and even more when fused with Nail and Kami, we see him training for three years with the androids and its meantioned by him that he trains even on moments of peace, we dont get enough love for piccolo because they focus too much on Saiyans, I wanted to see what his power level is at the Buu saga or dbs
As he told Gohan in Super, it’s not like he stands still when everyone else is coasting. He does catch up over enough time. He’s just had to do it the hard way instead of through stacking cheap transformations like the Saiyans do.

I stand by my theory I said during the what if round table, I believe Piccolo is in fact the remnants of Zalama. having the Namekian god some how lose all his power and sense of self and becoming the nameless namekian that somehow wound up on earth (perhaps he wished on the super dragon balls to become mortal?) and since a piece of him in the form of king Piccolo is missing, he is not truly complete and therefor, can not return to his former glory or regain his memories.
13:37 That would be Tien. Tien was the first villian that turned around into a hero. Tien was following the diret path of Shen and Tao into a merciless killer. But with his battle with Goku, which he won, he started to have a change of heart.
I never thought Piccolo was afraid of Shin because of his power, but because of his status as a kaioshin, it was his Kami side who recognized his superior and that's why he quit the flight.
Im glad to see the return of Piccolo in the spotlight. I would like to see Piccolo have his own kids in the future where we could see Gohan be a uncle to Piccolo’s children. Piccolo kids would be a nice addition to the next Generation of Z fighters Goten, Trunks, Marron, Pan, Bra and Uub and Android’s 17’s children.
I feel like Piccolo got a boost in the Moro Arc, but I guess we aren't counting the manga even though there's evidence in the manga to suggest that the Broly movie is closer to it than the anime
Honestly it kinda makes sense that Piccolo us in a state of 'limbo'. He's Toriyama's fave and like Masako said, his characters either become obsolete, or in a rut... And what do writer's hate more than rehashing the same story over and over again? So why would Toriyama want that for The Big Pickle? Until there's an idea for his resolution (like in GT) I think he'll kinda just... exist.
I was given a piece of writing advice a very long time ago that always stuck with me. If you want to keep a character around that finished their character arc, give them another, and another, because no story just ends. A character is never done growing because a person is never done growing so there is always more to do with them. But what that is and how to execute that is the hard part. In someways all characters that are actively participating within a story are in an arc, even if what that arc is isn't really clear. Piccolo is in an arc of inner peace with the world I'd say, but that's not a very satisfying state for a character to be in if you look at it through the eyes of the audiance, because people like friction and drama. Now characters having moments to stand still like Piccolo is also very important for the audiance even if they don't realise it. There are plenty of characters with long running series that literally never stop or rest or even take a breath which exhausts the viewer/reader.
Piccolo being namekian always gave the feeling that power is never truly a problem for him. He could always be blessed by a dragon or dragons. To me he's that mysterious character that will always be able to prove his worth when necessary.
Piccolo will always and forever be one of the most cool characters I'm dragon ball. Although he's not the strongest he's still one of the strongest beings in the multiverse. 17 can fight toe to toe with full power jiren, goku blue kaioken x20 and vegeta blue evolution, so he's waaaay stronger than piccolo it's a major gap. 18 however is most likely stronger based on her feats as well just not as much. Piccolo's new form might not be esthetically pleasing but its certaily better than no new form. The fact we see piccolo's house gives me hope we'll see a lot more from his character.
Gosh, the entirety of Namek are so underutilized. Saiyans are an inherently aggresive and powerful race of fighters and warriors. Nameks were IMPLIED to be just as strong back in the Namek saga, yet they adamantly refused to fight, locking away powerful techniques, items, and power boosts for those they deem "worthy" or when they're pushed to a wall That creates such an interesting paralell bewteen the two that's COMPLETELY forgotten. Imagine if more Namekians would come down to Earth, start their own clan there, or start living with humans like Vegeta and Goku, how would that work? Would Piccolo stick with them or with his own friends? More Namekians to fuse with? More Namekian-exclusive moves and powers? THERE'S SO MUCH POTENIAL THERE!
I think Piccolo should ultimately be recognized as an amazing teacher. Make him train Gohan (and Pan, though she would be secondary here) and make Whis notice his impressive teaching skills and actually talk with Piccolo about his training approach. Establish that Piccolos training methods are unusually effective and make Piccolo and Gohan catch up to Goku and Vegeta after a few years (timeskip). From there you could do a lot. I would advocate for an ACTUAL tournament, classic Budokai Tenkaichi style, where other fan favourites managed to get a lot closer to the Sayians than anyone expected.
Its like the year of Luigi, except even better. Best Slug Dad returns to prove Krillin right about the Super Namekian form, Cell adopts his worst-looking form only for Taka to NOT motorboat, and Gohan looked up DaiTomodachi’s Emo Gohan and went with his form. All in all, the best fix for Dragon Ball Z ever.
Majin Piccolo would have been cool. Leaning towards the “Demon King” can work. Book of Namekian Legends can perhaps lead to something. Piccolo deserves all the best. I don’t think anyone dislikes Piccolo.
I want a journey of self discovery, with the reveal that King Piccolo was in hiding and Junior needing to open his heart up to evil in order to become the nameless namekian, properly this time. That one video game had him as the 2nd strongest non-fused character in the Buu saga after Ultimate Gohan. He decimated Super Buu like he was a joke. I want that level of power from him, *Earth’s 2nd strongest after Gohan.* He could become Ultimate Piccolo after the fact. He & Gohan could train with Whis and Beerus, probably train on Yardrat for Instant Transmission, FSF & the other gigantification technique. Gohan & Piccolo specialize in self control, so spirit control would be perfect for them. We could see the return of Nail as a separate character. They both have the temperament between Goku and Vegeta’s extremes that make both Ultras viable for them.
It's a tough situation for Piccolo. It's hard to justify him getting strong enough to matter without him doing something drastic. - IMO I would have loved for him to see god Ki being used and then realizing that he had it available to him from Kami, or something. - He could also go down the road of more namekian fusions, but that would come out of nowhere and probably feel fairly fan-fic at this point. - The ultimate power would be strange for him to undergo, I am not completely sure how it would even work with a Namekian. I actually wonder if it will have had something to do with Gohan. We know he was searching for a new form (his own path) to be stronger than Goku. Piccolo might have had something spark from the training that they did towards this. Though I cant help but feel like this will be the movie that 'passes the torch' to the next generation. After this Gohan will probably become a mentor figure along side piccolo.
I feel like Ultra Instinct is the most easy power-up to give Piccolo. He's already known for mediating and his race has very spiritual abilities like mind-reading and releasing untapped potential in the body. We could just have him join Goku in his training with Whis, only for him to realise that Ultra Instinct comes much easier to him due to his race and training, leading to a somewhat comical scene where he masters Ultra Instinct in a much shorter time than Goku. This would give Piccolo the strength he needs to put him on-par with Vegeta and Goku again, and provide a plausible reason for those gains. The only thing he really needs now is a goal to achieve with that power. Goku's goal is surpassing Beerus, Vegeta's goal is keeping up with Goku. Piccolo isn't really interested in either of those things, so we'd have to come up with a reason why he even cares about being as strong as he can possibly be.
He’s not getting Ultra instinct nor will he ever be on Goku’s level. He will have his 15 mins of fame in this movie and then fade into irrelevancy afterward.
I want a Piccolo spin off series set 100 years in the future, with him no longer being able to use the goals of his friends as a crutch he'd have to figure out what he wants to do himself. Does he want to protect earth? Live a quiet life as a hermit? There could even be a part of him that wants to be the demon king even if he never pursues it.
piccolo is my favorite character from the design to personality to growth i was sad see him well go into limbo always hoping he will make a comeback and i hope this movie does mr pickles some good

That is actually what I’ve thought, or at least if not the true soul half, than an amalgamation of the copied memories gaining some shadowy form. I just had to do a double take bc I’m so used to no one else considering that concept. If considered true, as Kami and Nail are so present in his mind, it gives a whole new level to “keeping your negative impulses under control”. Awesome video as always!!
Piccolo's an odd one. He's his own person, but he's also a reincarnation of his father given a chance to redeem himself. He's ALSO a descendent of Guru thanks to fusion and of course, he's got a divine link thanks to fusing with Kami. What a great bunch of guys he is.
Think about it like this, Masako, Piccolo is now Kami, with agency. He’ll always be there to give a hand in the fight, but his role really is to train the next generation.
I hope the others Z fighters got the same treatment. It doesn't have to be a transformation, just a powerboost and some spotlight to keep them relevant. And yes, even Yamcha (specially Yamcha, my guy is a OG)
Piccolo is also my favorite character so I really want him to get this in the best way possible. Give him this power-up and let it be god-like. I dunno hahaha. I wouldn't be a good writer for Dragon Ball but I just hope for some awesome airtime for Piccolo.
Yeah. He needs more agency. The problem is that as s namekian it would be hard to tie him up into motivation. So.....Zarama? I think Zarama was put into the story as means to, later on, give Piccolo a very strong relevance.
Piccolo should at least get a bit more power here and there, maybe he could go to New namek and learn more about his people for a while by living amongst them, if even for a little while off screen. He definitely seems like a character worth exploring
I do like the idea of Piccolo becoming the new Roshi tho. Existing for hundreds of years, teaching the next generation of Z Fighters. Then in the next Age or two there's a get together between Roshi, Baba, Korin, Dende, Popo, and Piccolo just chilling on the lookout drinking beer and shootin the bull and reminiscing about the good ole days.
when i first found dragonball it was right at the start of the sayian arc where piccolo and gohan were training for the invasion they've always been my favorite duo and he'll always be gohan's dad in my book haha
I always found it interesting that in budokai tenkaichi 3. If you use piccolo vs king piccolo. He not only says he’ll stop his dad. That he wants to fuse with him to take his power and he’ll like before the personality in charge

Piccolo was amazing in dragon ball, I was hyped to see him fight 17, now im happy that he is there for gohan and all that but I feel like his moment to Shine is not over yet, and as he most likely Will train pan in combat it would feel like a Nice touch IF she learned meditation from him, that would be cool
Could this be hope for a new Piccolo centered what if? What if Piccolo had kids What if some of his brothers survived What if Chi-Chi married Piccolo so Goten would have a father figure. What if Piccolo used the dragon balls to make himself stronger so he can protect others. What if the Supreme Kai trained Piccolo, Buu, Tien & Chiaotzu after the Buu saga?
Piccolo has always been my favorite character and I’m really hoping this new form puts him on the level of Goku and Vegeta. I’d like to see him in more fights, helping out and getting some victories.
Picolo has such LEGANDQRY UNTAPPED POTENTIAL in canon hfil he doesn't even need the whis treatment let alone the beerushakai treatment just give him kaioken, spirit control, multiversall magic and supreme Kai training and he'll have MVP status even if nerfed!!!
This itself could be his character ark as explores himself. Or even seeing gohan with a kid makes him think about a family since hes technically only a handful years older than Gohan. Which raises the question how does piccolo himself view Gohan? Like a son, like the fanbase likes to imagine, or a friend still like from the saiyan saga, or a brother or clansman like namekians appear to view each other, or something different?
honestly I think he just needs his own Ultra state. we have Instinct and Ego why not give Piccalo Ultra Enlightenment or Clarity complete the trinity of sorts it just makes since for the one who's always meditating and more often than not the one using his brain outside of direct combat to get something like this.
I've always wanted piccolo to have a son, Piccolo III. He would look almost like piccolo with some Hooded cloak, as a nod to Dragon Ball evolution. And yellow eyes like Demon King Piccolo. A stern calm and introverted personality almost like his father, But not quite as wise. As an extra ingredient I would give him an optimistic view on the world. And allow him to learn combat from someone in Goku's family. And maybe learn from Dende.
I think the most obvious choice for Piccolo is to become the new GoD candidate. He's got massive power potential, a level head, an abundance of wisdom, knowledge in the mystic arts (via Kami's fusion), and a keen tactical mind. If anybody is suited to the disciplined and immortal nature of the destroyer role, it should be someone like him. Plus, the saiyans have made it clear that they do not intend to replace Beerus.
Everyone making these predictions that Piccolo and Gohan are gonna be the stars of the next movie, can't wait to see all the crying and outrage when Goku and Broly end up saving the day.
It's almost like he lives for Gohan. Gohan was his first friend and Piccolo doesn't have anything to live for. Kinda like the androids, they had one purpose and had to find new ones. I can see Piccolo becoming like Kami. Dende will stay earth's guardian while Piccolo could be the sword, so to speak.
It could also be that, after fusing with Kami, Piccolo learned how to play the long game (and how not to be hated by everyone). Why conquer the world by force if they'd be willing to crown you king?
Would you have preferred that Piccolo's arms got removed before he got thrown out of the ring in the ToP? Like... They had already seen the stretchy arms in action by that point (I think?) so when they went in to remove Piccolo from the tournament, they first cut off his arms and then proceeded to yeet the shocked and probably confused Piccolo off of the stage.

He's only a couple years older than Gohan, so he's got more life left in him than anyone else on Earth. Could even go all-out with it unlocking some kinda divine spark inside, Kami was (very) minor divinity as guardian so its not too much of a stretch, that ends up with him eventually gaining divine ki like Goku and Vegeta, thus showing that Saiyans aren't the only ones who can achieve that kinda power. Well, Saiyans and whatever Toppo happens to be, I suppose.

Just imagine if Piccolo ever learned Kaioken. Especially stacked on an Ultimate buff. He can probably tolerate way more multipliers than Goku ever could, just due to his regeneration abilities and generally superior ki control from all that meditation (which is why I think Piccolo has managed to punch way above his weight at a few points in the series).
I’m all but convinced that, by the time Goku and Vegeta hit their ending years, Piccolo will be one of the very strongest beings in all the multiverse, just because he’s gotten so far pretty much using the same techniques to power as Jiren and putting in the work, even if it hasn’t been super flashy.
Out of all the side-characters, Piccolo is the most likely to get an arc of his own, so I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
I would kinda like to see Piccolo make his way into God Ki or something unique. While its pretty obvious that he is not going to be replacing Dende "up on the lookout", it certainly feels appropriate that he would at least in some form, be able to tap into divine, demonic or maybe even Zalama based ki / magic.
When we also consider what we know about Piccolo potentially being able to do with various techniques, such as Kaioken if he ever wanted to learn it, as well as consider his history and ability to use magic (even if only minorly). Piccolo is very much setup to become the "Ultimate" mentor of the dragon team. Able to accumulate the knowledge of them all and pass it on to later generations.
Who knows, if that actually happened we might even see room for new techniques to appear in the future! (Just have kaiohenshin in mind now :D)

Namekians can live for more than 500+ years as we ve seen with Elder Guru and Monato, Kami would have been around 300+ years old when he fused with Piccolo. So Piccolo still has plenty of time to develop and tap into his true power
He might also have Piccolo Sr.'s eternal youth.
Piccolo also has a connection to Dende, but it’s really interesting he has his own house now & isn’t living on the Lookout.
Power wise, in the manga he called Gohan the 3rd strongest & Piccolo lasted longer in a fight than the androids, at the very least he was equal to 17 at that point. Buu might still be stronger than Piccolo but I’m unsure.
Piccolo’s current goal seems to be to do whatever is best for Gohan.
As for a new goal? I’d love for him to want to investigate Namekian history, start a colony of Namekians on Earth or whip the Supreme Kai & Buu into shape so he knows the universe will be in good hands.
Piccolo likely wanted Dende to follow his own way as the kami of earth without his guidance.

As you said, I think Piccolo needs to decide what he wants. The fact that he was able to find a power that pushes him well past what he thought his limits were goes to show he's still got something left to give as a warrior. But he needs to decide whether or not that's a journey he's willing to go on or not.
If Toriyama/Toyotaro are truly setting up a "True Namekian Origin" Arc like some of us hope they are, this could be the perfect opportunity to expand on Piccolo, who he truly is, and what he truly wants now. The Moro and Granolah Arc had Vegeta facing his shady past and doing his best to right those wrongs. Goku is currently remembering Bardock and Gine, something that (for better or worse) could change Goku's character forever. Just like those two, I genuinely believe there's still a story to be told with Piccolo.
For all its faults, GT did well by Piccolo giving him a powerful end and a purpose even if its largely offscreen. I'd be sad to see him go in Super, but I'd take an evocative swansong over a fade into obscurity.
Honestly I want to see Piccolo travel to New Namek and maybe study a hidden Namekian technique or form.

I want to see Piccolo make a decision for himself, what he wants to be. Every decision he's made, he's been forced to. Even his greatest accomplishment thus far, training Gohan, was born out of necessity - Nappa and Vegeta were coming, and everyone, even Gohan, needed to be as strong as possible. Plus he had - at the time - the idea of turning Gohan loose on his father once the Saiyan threat was dealt with, but came to like the kid too much to go through with it. Plus the whole dying to Nappa thing.
Piccolo needs to make his own niche in the Dragon Ball universe. I don't mind if it's just as a mentor - training Gohan, Goten, Trunks (and by extension, Gotenks) and Pan. But I want him to make that decision of his own volition, and fully embrace that role. I don't mind if he still continues training them even if he decides he wants to do something else with his life. He just needs a new character arc, and it needs to make him relevant in the ongoing story, rather than just being a background character for the Saiyan Show.
Considering how in the Moro saga, when Piccolo and Gohan were the only ones left fighting against Sangabo,
( Moro's strongest grunt, second in command, essentially the escaped convict version of Nappa, and was given an even greater magic boost in power than anyway else )
while the two INFINTE ENERGY powered Androids were literally taking break due to exhaustion, with 17 even admitting how surprised he was that two those could keep fighting like that, and how hard they were fighting against such a foe, and on such even terms with each other, I'm pretty sure its a safe bet that piccolo is way stronger than the androids now and is super close to, if not, evenly matched with Gohan now, Manga wise anyway.
If you can outlast and continue fighting harder than a being that has limitless energy and stamina, than you must stronger, so in the manga, Piccolo should be able to fight against a SSGSS Goku, not sure about SSGSS with Kaio-Ken x 20, but still, definitely should be at god ki level by now, again, Manga wise anyway.

I'd say what we have been seeing piccolo do in the anime is what Goku said he wanted to do in the buy saga but decided he didn't care anymore , which is to train up the next generation to protect the earth. From training Gohan to goten and trunks , from mentoring dende and now training pan. He really has become the new master roshi for the future z warriors. I really hope piccolos new form has to do with God ki , I feel like it's kind of weird one of the characters who was actually called god at one point hasn't shown any interest or knowledge in this power introduced in super. I'd like to see his new goal to become as strong as he can so he can help the next generation get even stronger
PiccoIo’s aging process is weird. I always have to remind myself that as old as he looks and act he’s only four years older than Gohan.
Piccolo is my favorite character. I thought it was weird he was put on the side when Android 18 showed up in super. I would love him to train up Pan and Gohan again, and him getting that power up that way.

Piccolo is powerful on his own and even more when fused with Nail and Kami, we see him training for three years with the androids and its meantioned by him that he trains even on moments of peace, we dont get enough love for piccolo because they focus too much on Saiyans, I wanted to see what his power level is at the Buu saga or dbs
As he told Gohan in Super, it’s not like he stands still when everyone else is coasting. He does catch up over enough time. He’s just had to do it the hard way instead of through stacking cheap transformations like the Saiyans do.

I stand by my theory I said during the what if round table, I believe Piccolo is in fact the remnants of Zalama. having the Namekian god some how lose all his power and sense of self and becoming the nameless namekian that somehow wound up on earth (perhaps he wished on the super dragon balls to become mortal?) and since a piece of him in the form of king Piccolo is missing, he is not truly complete and therefor, can not return to his former glory or regain his memories.

I never thought Piccolo was afraid of Shin because of his power, but because of his status as a kaioshin, it was his Kami side who recognized his superior and that's why he quit the flight.

Honestly it kinda makes sense that Piccolo us in a state of 'limbo'. He's Toriyama's fave and like Masako said, his characters either become obsolete, or in a rut... And what do writer's hate more than rehashing the same story over and over again? So why would Toriyama want that for The Big Pickle? Until there's an idea for his resolution (like in GT) I think he'll kinda just... exist.
In Super, Piccolo swung between doing cool things again and being woefully disrespected. Let's hope the writing is better in the movie.
I was given a piece of writing advice a very long time ago that always stuck with me. If you want to keep a character around that finished their character arc, give them another, and another, because no story just ends. A character is never done growing because a person is never done growing so there is always more to do with them. But what that is and how to execute that is the hard part.
In someways all characters that are actively participating within a story are in an arc, even if what that arc is isn't really clear. Piccolo is in an arc of inner peace with the world I'd say, but that's not a very satisfying state for a character to be in if you look at it through the eyes of the audiance, because people like friction and drama. Now characters having moments to stand still like Piccolo is also very important for the audiance even if they don't realise it. There are plenty of characters with long running series that literally never stop or rest or even take a breath which exhausts the viewer/reader.
Piccolo being namekian always gave the feeling that power is never truly a problem for him. He could always be blessed by a dragon or dragons. To me he's that mysterious character that will always be able to prove his worth when necessary.
Piccolo will always and forever be one of the most cool characters I'm dragon ball. Although he's not the strongest he's still one of the strongest beings in the multiverse. 17 can fight toe to toe with full power jiren, goku blue kaioken x20 and vegeta blue evolution, so he's waaaay stronger than piccolo it's a major gap. 18 however is most likely stronger based on her feats as well just not as much. Piccolo's new form might not be esthetically pleasing but its certaily better than no new form. The fact we see piccolo's house gives me hope we'll see a lot more from his character.

Gosh, the entirety of Namek are so underutilized.
Saiyans are an inherently aggresive and powerful race of fighters and warriors.
Nameks were IMPLIED to be just as strong back in the Namek saga, yet they adamantly refused to fight, locking away powerful techniques, items, and power boosts for those they deem "worthy" or when they're pushed to a wall
That creates such an interesting paralell bewteen the two that's COMPLETELY forgotten. Imagine if more Namekians would come down to Earth, start their own clan there, or start living with humans like Vegeta and Goku, how would that work? Would Piccolo stick with them or with his own friends? More Namekians to fuse with? More Namekian-exclusive moves and powers?

I think Piccolo should ultimately be recognized as an amazing teacher. Make him train Gohan (and Pan, though she would be secondary here) and make Whis notice his impressive teaching skills and actually talk with Piccolo about his training approach.
Establish that Piccolos training methods are unusually effective and make Piccolo and Gohan catch up to Goku and Vegeta after a few years (timeskip).
From there you could do a lot. I would advocate for an ACTUAL tournament, classic Budokai Tenkaichi style, where other fan favourites managed to get a lot closer to the Sayians than anyone expected.

Majin Piccolo would have been cool. Leaning towards the “Demon King” can work. Book of Namekian Legends can perhaps lead to something. Piccolo deserves all the best. I don’t think anyone dislikes Piccolo.
I want a journey of self discovery, with the reveal that King Piccolo was in hiding and Junior needing to open his heart up to evil in order to become the nameless namekian, properly this time.
That one video game had him as the 2nd strongest non-fused character in the Buu saga after Ultimate Gohan. He decimated Super Buu like he was a joke.
I want that level of power from him, *Earth’s 2nd strongest after Gohan.* He could become Ultimate Piccolo after the fact. He & Gohan could train with Whis and Beerus, probably train on Yardrat for Instant Transmission, FSF & the other gigantification technique. Gohan & Piccolo specialize in self control, so spirit control would be perfect for them. We could see the return of Nail as a separate character. They both have the temperament between Goku and Vegeta’s extremes that make both Ultras viable for them.

It's a tough situation for Piccolo. It's hard to justify him getting strong enough to matter without him doing something drastic.
- IMO I would have loved for him to see god Ki being used and then realizing that he had it available to him from Kami, or something.
- He could also go down the road of more namekian fusions, but that would come out of nowhere and probably feel fairly fan-fic at this point.
- The ultimate power would be strange for him to undergo, I am not completely sure how it would even work with a Namekian.
I actually wonder if it will have had something to do with Gohan. We know he was searching for a new form (his own path) to be stronger than Goku. Piccolo might have had something spark from the training that they did towards this.
Though I cant help but feel like this will be the movie that 'passes the torch' to the next generation. After this Gohan will probably become a mentor figure along side piccolo.
I feel like Ultra Instinct is the most easy power-up to give Piccolo. He's already known for mediating and his race has very spiritual abilities like mind-reading and releasing untapped potential in the body. We could just have him join Goku in his training with Whis, only for him to realise that Ultra Instinct comes much easier to him due to his race and training, leading to a somewhat comical scene where he masters Ultra Instinct in a much shorter time than Goku. This would give Piccolo the strength he needs to put him on-par with Vegeta and Goku again, and provide a plausible reason for those gains.
The only thing he really needs now is a goal to achieve with that power. Goku's goal is surpassing Beerus, Vegeta's goal is keeping up with Goku. Piccolo isn't really interested in either of those things, so we'd have to come up with a reason why he even cares about being as strong as he can possibly be.
He’s not getting Ultra instinct nor will he ever be on Goku’s level. He will have his 15 mins of fame in this movie and then fade into irrelevancy afterward.

I want a Piccolo spin off series set 100 years in the future, with him no longer being able to use the goals of his friends as a crutch he'd have to figure out what he wants to do himself. Does he want to protect earth? Live a quiet life as a hermit? There could even be a part of him that wants to be the demon king even if he never pursues it.

Piccolo's an odd one. He's his own person, but he's also a reincarnation of his father given a chance to redeem himself. He's ALSO a descendent of Guru thanks to fusion and of course, he's got a divine link thanks to fusing with Kami. What a great bunch of guys he is.
Think about it like this, Masako, Piccolo is now Kami, with agency. He’ll always be there to give a hand in the fight, but his role really is to train the next generation.

I do like the idea of Piccolo becoming the new Roshi tho. Existing for hundreds of years, teaching the next generation of Z Fighters. Then in the next Age or two there's a get together between Roshi, Baba, Korin, Dende, Popo, and Piccolo just chilling on the lookout drinking beer and shootin the bull and reminiscing about the good ole days.

I always found it interesting that in budokai tenkaichi 3. If you use piccolo vs king piccolo. He not only says he’ll stop his dad. That he wants to fuse with him to take his power and he’ll like before the personality in charge

You know, in the german dub of dragonball Z, Gohan calls piccolo 'uncle piccolo'. So thats very fitting.
This itself could be his character ark as explores himself. Or even seeing gohan with a kid makes him think about a family since hes technically only a handful years older than Gohan. Which raises the question how does piccolo himself view Gohan? Like a son, like the fanbase likes to imagine, or a friend still like from the saiyan saga, or a brother or clansman like namekians appear to view each other, or something different?

I've always wanted piccolo to have a son, Piccolo III. He would look almost like piccolo with some Hooded cloak, as a nod to Dragon Ball evolution. And yellow eyes like Demon King Piccolo. A stern calm and introverted personality almost like his father, But not quite as wise. As an extra ingredient I would give him an optimistic view on the world. And allow him to learn combat from someone in Goku's family. And maybe learn from Dende.

I think the most obvious choice for Piccolo is to become the new GoD candidate. He's got massive power potential, a level head, an abundance of wisdom, knowledge in the mystic arts (via Kami's fusion), and a keen tactical mind. If anybody is suited to the disciplined and immortal nature of the destroyer role, it should be someone like him. Plus, the saiyans have made it clear that they do not intend to replace Beerus.
Everyone making these predictions that Piccolo and Gohan are gonna be the stars of the next movie, can't wait to see all the crying and outrage when Goku and Broly end up saving the day.

It's almost like he lives for Gohan. Gohan was his first friend and Piccolo doesn't have anything to live for. Kinda like the androids, they had one purpose and had to find new ones. I can see Piccolo becoming like Kami. Dende will stay earth's guardian while Piccolo could be the sword, so to speak.
It could also be that, after fusing with Kami, Piccolo learned how to play the long game (and how not to be hated by everyone). Why conquer the world by force if they'd be willing to crown you king?
Would you have preferred that Piccolo's arms got removed before he got thrown out of the ring in the ToP? Like... They had already seen the stretchy arms in action by that point (I think?) so when they went in to remove Piccolo from the tournament, they first cut off his arms and then proceeded to yeet the shocked and probably confused Piccolo off of the stage.
For me, I would make him last until the battle against universe 11. (17 and frieza can still stay until the end).
