It's mostly older generations that are getting a divorce. Women in that age group are realizing that they don't have to be stuck in a loveless or even abusive marriage anymore. Nobody is going to judge them for leaving like they did back in the day and they can make their own money now, own their own house, credit cards, etc. Like sheesh people, woman weren't even allowed to have credit cards until the mid 70s.
It remains to be seen if younger people will stay married.

Just how misogynistic can these guys get beyond this. I don't think these women had much of a choice as wage earning employees to appear or not. Fox promoted Republican hypocrisy concerning women, eg. A woman's place is in the home, performing as the maid, and preferably pregnant with a future Republican Fascist. There's a good possibility that it's meant to add to the frustration of all those poor pitiful male Fox viewers weeping that women don't want a relationship with them, and dressing like that is somehow an afront to their sensibilities.

There was a reasonable debate about why women might be initiating divorce far more often, which they do. Sure, one could say that men are the problem. But the debate gets more interesting today because now we have same-sex marriage statistics. Gay men have a divorce rate significantly lower than straight couples, while lesbian marriages have a divorce rate significantly higher than straight couples. So, we can't blame men so easily anymore.

That’s not a more natural state. It became the state after farming practices were traded from hunter gathering, and men took over all power in their society, and deemed women second class. Then it perpetuated by men who decided they like the idea of control over women over the old ways of mutual respect. Earth god cultures had much respect for women, and women held many dominant positions in their societies, and it was the sage or wise women who kept the laws. Women in those eras had very promiscuous sex, and sexuality, and we’re very dominant in their home lives. That way of life is as long as the era that followed with sky gods, and being non nomadic, but being settled in an area and producing food created writing and math, and a place to store writing etc, so it is more preserved. It’s suggested women invented agriculture, so I always found it interesting that men taking it up did so much harm to women for so long. Like women adapted to men dominating the lives of everyone, men will adapt to a more equal society once again.

When anyone stops to wonder if sexism still exists, remember that it was only a century ago that women got the right to vote in the United States. Our country was the last to do this. It had already been done in Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Denmark, Russia, Germany, and Poland, etc.
As with racism, cultures have norms that don't just end. So when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, the Civil War ended, it was another century before the Civil Rights act. And even that didn't end racism. Same with sexism. Our culture stigmatized African-Americans as less-than-human slaves, and women as objects of desire and/or caretakers of ones home and children.
And women didn't have the right to their own credit cards until the 1970s. Less than half a century ago women had to have their husbands' written permission to get a card, take out a loan, no matter how much they earned.

@@ncwordman I turned 30 in 1978. We had all the children we wanted so I wanted to have my tubes tied. My husband had to sign his permission; mine wasn't legally enough. So men have been controlling womens' bodies since the beginning of time. BTW, a law had to be passed to allow women to get their own credit cards and loans in Dec. 1974

So female body autonomy is really just a recent thing, to start with. Recent enough to still upset certain men into having it reversed.
