I was at the sentencing on monday, Sylvia acted with dignity in the face of this horrific act, she is so strong and deserves the upmost respect. On a more personal note, I want to say thank you to Sylvia for all the work she is doing to raise awareness we all owe you a great debt of gratitude. I don't know if Rob will see this but I just want him to know that everyone is thinking about him and can't imagine the pain he is feeling, our thoughts are with you always. I met Sylvia Lancaster in Whitby on the 30th of October last month. It was a great honour to meet her. She was really happy that I told her that I wear my S.O.P.H.I.E. wristbands all the time.
Rest In Peace Sophie, recently met her mum who was an absolutely amazing woman. There is no doubt that the foundation is going to grow even more, plesse buy a Sophie band and help support such an incredible cause. STAMP OUT PREJUDICE HATE AND INTOLERANCE EVERYWHERE!
I was at the court yesterday, it was a cold long wait, but it was worth it just to show Sophie's family the support they deserved. I just wish they boys had been legal adults and them maybe they would have got a harsher sentence and not be getting out so soon. Personally I think they should never be let out, as they still have shown no remorse for what they did!
She wasn't saying that rap music inspired them alone. Music, films and videogames do not inspire someone to be violent alone. They need to have a bad upbringing or some other motives. I can say Metal music, horror and violent films and videogames has kept me away from becoming a violent person. They even said in a recent study that those that follow the Goth subculture are unlikely to be violent and self harm. Too many people think stereotypes are true when they are not.

im amazed at the number of comments about a harsher punishment against them. certainly they deserved more jail time, but some of the stuff people are mentioning is as bad as what happend to sophie herself. isnt that a little redundant? like fighting fire with fire? doesnt solve anything, just makes a bigger fire. makes whoever would do it just as guilty as those boys. i understand the crime, but violence isnt the answer.

Sanctimonious wet wipes and your inordinate forbearance, pandering to murderous scum, you will only ever hinder the path of justice while seeking to achieve your naive, idealistic criminal (in)justice system that infantsilises the categorically evil which can never be achieved.
I'm glad they got severe punishments - It's these kind off people, that if left to their own devices, end up flying a plane into a skyscraper, or bombing busy populated areas. Such a terrible, and unprovoked attack. I can't even begin to imagine how the family were left feeling after all of this.

The death sentence is never the answer. Deciding someone should die for killing someone in a cruel way is only a short step away from killing anyone who commits any sort of crime. No-one has the right to choose who should live and who should die, ever. The death of Sophie was really sad and tragic, but follow in her mums example and bring good things like charities out of it, not the death sentence or she would have died in vain.

Actually this happened in America before and the guy that deliberately killed a punk via hit n run in Texas got a lesser sentence than Sophie's killer's did.
Sylvia should be so proud, she's so brave. Her daughter's death, however tragic, has created a charity that brings all sub-cultures together against the chavs and yobs who try to stop us from being ourselves. Sometimes I wish a bunch of goths would stomp on the head of one of their low-life kind, but then I suppose they'd be no better than the monsters that hurt Sophie and Rob. We will have justice one day.
