The arms bearing officers can’t engage people with their hands for fear of losing the weapon. They are therefore trained to use their legs and feet for defence. They were at liberty to deploy their weapons, but held off from that action. We need to show more respect to these people for the difficult work they do. They referred themselves to the IOPC. He's right, the officers have no idea of what they are going into and have to assume the worst. The young man was prone but with his hands neither visible or behind his back. Also the woman was kneeling over him and they have no idea initially whether she has anything on her which may endanger officers or the public. Anybody assulting officers at an airport where there are armed police is very stupid and shows complete lack of control. Even if they had done nothing the mature and sensible thing to do would be to grit their teeth and not get heated. Nobody can refuse a search at an airport; even my daughter with profound learning difficulties gets her wheelchair searched and gets wanded when we fly domestically never mind coming from abroad.
One piece of advice to women..Never wear under wired bra. The bell will ting and they will pass their hands all over your body. So avoid it.

The racists I'm afraid are the one's doing the intimidating and playing the race card, and they have been allowed to got away with playing that card and their behaviour for so long now, that the police have lost respect from both sides and have put themselves in an untenable position where they cannot police those communities our of fear, and they get the resentment from the rest of society for allowing them to get away with it. I used to work in Manchester airport and the security risk is always treated as high, the airport police are there to protect and have to approach every incidents with zero tolerance, especially when you assault one of their own and try to grab their weapons, whether its due to the terrorism act, drunken people, wanted criminals trying to leave the country and even just loud mouthed people disturbing the peace. When I saw this for the 1st even I thought what the hell was the officer thinking, but now with reports about what happened until the FULL VIDEO comes out we can't judge but as usual they only show what they want us to see and shout racism. What about all the times then when they were being heavy handed with all types of race in the airport because it happens, yet never recorded by the public or news because we just leave them to it because they are keeping us safe.
