In ghiaccio’s case he would die as well if he didn’t wear the suit, and secco’s suit makes him immune to green day
I don’t see his turn against Cioccolata as a sign Secco had always resented him, there may have been some tension but really it just seems like a natural extension of their shared philosophy. Those who are strong exist to dominate those who are weak in their eyes, and Secco simply applied that logic to his “ally” once it became clear Cioccolata had failed. He’d been proven in death to just be another weakling. Ironic, given Cioccolata himself professed genuinely affection to Secco in spite of that ethos with his last call, which to Secco would interpret as one last betrayal of their mindset (given that Cio pre-beatdown was the “stronger” one thus requiring a certain petty detachment, and post-beatdown was just another fly to be swatted in the pursuit of domination). All in all it turned out Secco took the ethos of their relationship far more seriously than Cioccolata himself did.
I am so, SO, glad that you finally did a video on Secco, who is my favorite character and who I believe is one of the best minor villains in Vento Aureo. As someone who has gone through intense grief, I’ve experienced feeling sudden hatred for the one that passed away. We all deal with grief differently, maybe Secco was just trying to distance himself so that he wouldn’t feel any bit of sorrow.
So I know that Cioccolata and Secco are horrifically shitty people, I can’t help but find their interactions cutesy a way. I like to think that the main reason Secco sort of switches in personality once Cioccolata dies is because he sort of become an anchor for secco. Without that, Secco completely shifts.
