It's kind of funny how this character went from having one of the best boss battles in the first game to having the most annoying in the second game. Especially since New Destroyman can double team you and one can revive the other!
If the long-range Destroyman had a phase where if he was the only one left he'd start coming in to try and hit you at close range the fight would be a lot better, instead of you having to chase him across the map or try and Sonic Sword him over and over.
I'm aware that I'm alone in this opinion but I don't mind, I love the fuck out of his second fight. It surprised me in NMH2 but I was glad to see him back, he was an extremely fun bad guy. I loved the atmosphere and especially the music. The image of this modern, lone samurai girl fighting for her master's sake in the middle of nowhere, taking down an opponent who was her master's unfinished business was so sick. I enjoyed how tough the boss fight was, even on the hardest difficulty.
“Kill U 2wice Over” is one of my absolute favorite themes from the series. Much like skelter helters theme, “slingshot” it captures that punk aesthetic and pumps you full of adrenaline getting you ready for the fight
My friend watch me play all 3 NMH & he remained as the best opponent all three times. We even started saying "Destroy...." when we attack in other games. Or offering a hand before a match. He became our meme
If Earth continues to have contact with the rest of the galaxy, I can easily see Destroyman become a virus and take over an alien factory world, co-opt its resources to make a new, improved Mass-produced Destroyman initiative, build a starfleet to take over more of the galaxy, all to try his hand at killing Travis again with the technology of hundreds of species at his command. Given that the post-credits scene teasing a "change the future" plot line for NMH4, I can easily see one of the Galactic Destroymen killing Henry, just to show how much of a threat he is now and to demand his "nemesis" take him seriously. Of course, Travis won't give him that satisfaction for a while at least, but this will require him to leave Earth to kill Mr. Harnet beyond a shadow of a doubt, likely complaining the whole time about seeing his ego, insecurities, and self-delusion on full blast. I hope Suda at least considered some of this, and if he hasn't, then he needs to see this!
Could probably imagine a bit of a Kekfa type situation, where the guy was to essentially play second fiddle to another bad guy, up until some point where he basically steals the show.
Or he is "mass produced" like the comics and action-figures of superheroes. He is the comics series that gets constantly canceled and renewed for another series.
Actually there already is a Final Destroyman concept ready should Marvelous decide to make NMH4 without Suda. Even if NMH comes back and escapes Suda's garden of madness, Travis will not be allowed to escape Destroyman
Good thing for me that I’m one the nmh fans who likes the gift every time. Destroyman is a gift I enjoying getting every game he just comes back more cooler then before. I know some fans hate that he keeps coming back for more but I’m just glad that he’s loved enough to be the most reoccurring boss in the No More Heroes Games.
Now i think about it, Homelander and Destroyman feel like they’d fit into each others respective universes perfectly. They’re kinda the same if you think about it. I love a good’ corrupt superhero’ story. Glad I subbed 💙
This video has single handedly explained the appeal of No More Heroes. Meti is such a talent to explain what makes things great even if you haven't seen read or played it
Even though the fight was god awful, the New Destroymen gave a fun cutscene and one of if not the best tracks in the series with "Twin electromagic". It has such an incredible pace to it which really pumps you up, as it changes in intensity and characteristics. The electric guitars work as fantastic drivers of the melody, and can represent the two halves of Destoyman, as each take their time in the spotlight and switch back and forth. Also major props to the bass player in the back putting a lovely sound to the whole tune, which fills necessary space in the piece. Just the best track, with an unbridled punk energy which captures the core of Destroyman, and NMH as a whole. Now if only the fight was good...
I feel for Destroyman because I want to be the hero of my own story to avoid the reality of my life sucking ass. I hate how reality is and changing it is hard. Not being a hero and having to lose all the time is something me and Destroyman have in common, and I love him for that.
yeah same, but Destroyman just ruins any credibility you give him once you actually see how he functions. its like youre meant to feel pity when looking at the guy, even when youre supposed to be playing as the biggest loser, Travis Touchdown. cheap shots, laughing like a prick, condescending attitude, nipple MG’s, this guy is the epitome of a poser superhero, kinda like Travis but without any redemption or progression to his character. s’why his death scene is one of the best and most satisfying kills of NMH
I can’t lie, I’ve thought of a few costumes and personas that I could dress in and clean up the scum of Jacksonville with. Like donning yellow and black Samurai armor paired with a Katana would make me Kabutomushi, insectoid defender. I like your pfp by the way, hard to find reasonable Danganronpa fans nowadays.
Meti has videos about some no more heroes characters, he even did a math theory on their worlds currency. Its just only when he feels like making it which is rarely, but it’s pretty much worth the wait since suda really likes to design characters based on things in pop culture stuff he loves while somehow feels like he’s embracing the good, bad, and the ugly flaws in the favorite things he loves in pop culture.
The red and blue Destroyman could also be a reference to Superman as it happened that something similar happened to him the first time was in one singular story in the 40’s and a second time that lasted multiple stories during the 90’s in which Superman ended up divided into two versions of himself one blue and one red the first story to make use of that concept ended forgot through time while the second time is quite known and most importantly deeply hated by Superman fans
Or Cyborg Superman, the evil cyborg that masqueraded as Superman after Doomsday "killed" the real Superman. Both Destroymen and Cyborg Superman have bodies that are split between human looking half and robotic looking half and both mechanical half's have skull-like appearence.
The warehouse that you fight destroyman in nmh2 might also be another toku reference. Warehouse fights are very common in Kamen Rider, some of the same warehouses are used over and over.
Suda himself said he would like to make a deadpool game if he were allowed to. If that ever happens they should throw in Destroy man as a secret boss maybe turn him into a galactus type being as his final form

Thank you for the video. Destroyman is probably my favorite character (besides Travis) out of the entire franchise so it was really cool to see a video made on him. Keep up the good work.
Destroyman stanss out cause he's THE one no more heroes boss who has NO redeeming traits or complexity, he's JUST an asshole who shows that as bad as Travis can be, he could ALWAYS be worse. Well, until No More heroes 3, which gave us an EVEN MORE despicable villain.

@@MetiNotTheBadGuy I have a feeling that Damon from NMH 3 is a reference to Devilman. Mostly Ryo being successful rich guy that manipulates a lot of events from behind the scenes. When in reality being half demon Also mixed with Kazuya from Tekken series. Whose whole character is also based on Ryo from Devilman. Half demon that takes over massive corporation. Under Kazuya rule, Mishima Zaibatsu turned into much more evil than under Heihachi involving drug deals and ton of animal experimentations. "Kill you twice over" also has a couple different meanings when you remember that a.) it would be the second time he died, and b.) there are two of him to kill during the fight. You can kill him twice over two times.
I made a joke a while back that in future DLC or a sequel Destroyman will eventually return as a girl due to being destroyed so much he needs an entirely new body just to keep going XD
While it might not have been initially intentional, I love that Destroy Man is voiced by Josh Keaton, well known for being the Spectacular Spider-Man.
True villains never die, they just get resurrected in the sequels.
That was Destoryman's true goal, become so popular thecwroters have to revive him in the sequel.

The reason no more heroes 4 may never happen is because Suda is having trouble trying to figure out how to do a four way handshake shock joke
