    The train stuff included buildings that are the flat plastic pieces. The thing is that all the pieces go somewhere and I am glad you recognized some of the cars were detached bottom and tops. It looks like it may have had a lot of specialty items that are not as common. Your right about storage and the desintegration of the boxes. Make sure you pickup the little pieces,they are impossible to replace. For a rr person stuff like that goes in a junk drawer until it is recognized as a missing part. Sorry to run so long,that was exciting.

    Great to see you working together with Tony again. I would have taken the beautiful quilt without hesitation because they are hard to find over here. And my former girl friend teached me that some of these items are highly collectible and might generate a decent amount of $$$. 🤑Nice to see a modernized Statue of Liberty with a lantern instead of a torch. 😄Big score on the model train, it´s not LGB, but Lionel is a very good brand as well. A lot of restoration work to do for train enthusiasts. Have a great and relaxing weekend (seems that you were pretty tired at the end of this vid), and see you on the next one ! 🌄Greets from GER, U.

    Those trains are going to sell well, I believe. As you know, often parts sell better than the whole. That outlet about 6:06 - oh my! Nice '40s (I think) desk chair in the bedroom. Will you show us packing the dumpster? Tetris on large scale? 😀 Beautiful weather here today. Been watching a crew remove a 90' tall, 100-year old oak from our back yard. Had to come down. Willow oak - they were planted all over this neighborhood in the '20s but are all at the end of their life span. With the worsening storms we've been having, they've been falling & taking out cars, sheds & houses. Hated to do it and shed a tear, but had to. Hope you have a great weekend and find cool things, get much accomplished, and have fun!

    Someone would probably LOVE to restore that old train stuff. What a find. Today my local thrift finally opens its 'Julebutikk' (its Christmas section on the 2nd floor) so I'm going to try to get there early and see what treasures await. Maybe it won't matter that I missed out on Thursday. Maybe today's my day. They've been putting items out behind a closed off area of the store for WEEKS and the anticipation has just about killed this curious cat. No sneak peak photos on their facebook site this time either. It's going to be very busy and crowded, so as my mum used to say, 'Time to sharpen the elbows.' ;)

    Good luck in finding that overlooked, hidden treasure!! That stash of poor Lionel stuff would make a great apocalypse scene! The vintage Lionel transformer was one of the first to enable the model railroader to run two trains independently...known as the "football" by collectors. I have one in mint operating condition. Introduced in the in the late 1940s...ran through the sixties off and on. Today, train control has gone high tech. with Blue Tooth capability. Well...I've got trains in MY basement!

    • @PaperandMoose
      @PaperandMoose  9 месяцев назад

      Blue Tooth for trains?! Do collectors/train enthusiasts like the new technology? Do you think that train collectors in 20-30 years will be looking for this blue tooth capability or still want to stick with the older train items?

    Looked like a nice old wooden jelly cabinet there.
    The train lamp posts are worth about $15 each
    Trains are sort of a mystery to me,not much difference between a real good one and a so so one
    I have a good friend that is really into them , has a huge train yard in a barn loft. He comes from a very wealthy family, his great grandfather was a “ Titian of American Industrial “
    I asked him once how he got into trains. Told me as a child he had a big set in the attic of their house, said his parents would fight a lot and he went up and play with his trains and played sound affects to be away from it till one of the maids came and got him.
    Thought it was sort of a sad story

    I was told of something like this and went to take a look. The house was sold and company people were cleaning out the house of leftovers and such. My godson worked for the company and I found antique cars that needed work and or later cars and engines that were complete or not.There was lots of the 3 rail track a couple bridges like what u found and switches,transformers and accessories. I finally found someone that worked on trains and gave some to them and then found a big collector that took everything left. He said he felt bad and made me take $75 but I knew it was worth far more than that myself just wanted to find someone that would enjoy the trains and keep the hobby going rather than see it thrown in the garbage.

    Yeah, they need to do a new statue of liberty with your likeness or redo the Columbia torch lady.. I bought a box of violins for $10 each. Man were they rough, but one paid for the entire box. The train stuff probably does best in lots on EBAY. I used to sell it at swap meets. The diesel engines probably worth the most vs the old steamers. Heavy engines take effort to run. so the light weight cars are more "popular". Most old track is technically worthless.

    (the tracks, IF alvageable, should be sold separately, it is harder to find good rails for old fashioned layouts than it is to find locomotives and carriages. They attract a different audience than those who collect old wagon material. Those who run this scrap on old rails, have a hard time finding good rails.. Now I'll shut up). I promise.

    Missed the dead rat, but I'll have to say; no serious model train enthusiast runs clean trains on their layout, they must be weathered. And these seem to be dirty enough as they are. But, too old and without the details we are used to seeing slave workers in China produce today. Nothing for me then. But maybe collectors are interested. I don't collect models. Apart from cars I own or have owned. And I have never owned a train. Unfortunately. But I do want my own steam locomotive. One day, if I just can remember to play that bloody lottery. And win.
