I would be spending the entire daylight going through every nook and cranny, wow, so much to explore
Such a shame when a very old house with unique character has to be torn down due to years of neglect. Thank you Renee for taking us along on this pick. That home was probably beautiful at one time. Glad you are finding some treasures.
They need to start at one end and go threw the stuff , throw garbage to one side and put good things to the other ! When they walk all over they are breaking things !
They won't be able to build anything new that will match the original. I love that house!
I liked the cream and green mug too.Nice feel and quality to it.
yay, a Sunday Paper and Moose episode..digging in all that mold and mess..lets hope you didnt pick up and take home a cootie or 2! 😮haha..at least there wasnt any smelly hotdogs! 🌭
good job👏👏
There was an odd smell downstairs, but nothing like that hot dog house! Luckily the paper that I brought home was either upstairs or found out in the stone garage, surprisingly in decent shape for being in the elements!
@@PaperandMoose Awww chew aww chew to much dust😊
You are far braver than most to be able to dig around in places like this one. Bravo young lady.👏👏👏
I like the idea of reusing all the stuff we don't get around to when we were alive. We need more of the re-use and repurpose. I'm also with you when it comes to the house. All the best from Colorado.
Love that red dresser
Overwhelming! ❤
@3:50, that Tamiya Blackfoot truck is worth $800 if that's new in box, $500 if complete!!
Oh boy!😊
Some very nice finds. I am glad you were wearing a mask!!!!! Don’t breathe in that mold and decades old dust!
I love this house
Glad you saved the trolls! I have two, but none from my childhood. Hard to find them anymore.
My late daughter loved her trolls when she was growing up!
From a corporate career to wading through three feet of mouldy junk. And you're happier!
Liked the postcard album it was lovely 🖤👍®️
That saddens me as well, house is marvelous, or it could be!
The black beads may be old “Jet” beads! I have my great grandmother’s and the ones you found look much alike! I love a treasure hunt!!
I love them old bag's. They are Washable.....
Fun! Do you ever look up the house histories on these picks? I try to do that whenever I hear about a house in my area about to be demolished.
If you go to the public library and get a hold of the recent city directory you can scope out yard sales---It will tell you details about the house, occupations, then do some googling and voile! An advantage!
The cream and green coffee mug was restaurant ware made by Shenango china company. There are collectors of all different types of restaurant ware.you were brave Renee to wade through the trash to find the treasures.🤗
I loved the green color on that mug!
Some great possibilities for a good root through there Renee in the mouldy home. Was the shell of a once beautiful house -accessable too. The cache of elephant fetishes was a bit strange and the crawlspace looked like it might hide something interesting among the rubble - apart from rodents - but would be a challenge. Glad to see you snag that stack of photos and passports! I would have liked those……
Ooo n the hutch, I Upcylce so many things, I w have been crazy
Wow thats like digging in the landfill.
My husband and I have been following you for a long time. Your are one of our favorites! Its been fun to watch your evolution from office worker to full time treasure hunter! Love the new long hair. love your earthiness. And we love to wonder about your relationship with Taco Stacks!
Fun exploration 😊
You see all of the things that they did craft wise this is a thing that keeps us busy and upholds moral values staying busy is key to purpose and happiness. But this hoarding isn’t what I’m referring too lol I loved the content hopefully you got some good items $$$$ I saw a lot of stuff 👍
Wow...what an adventure. Yeah...blame it on Tony..😂...you loved it...confess..!!
Great video,thanks for sharing..🥰🥰
I do! Places like this where there’s digging to do & things to uncover are truly my favorite!
Looks like fun to me.Those Stompers were very popular back in their day.People probably collect them like crazy now.
Oh that home 😢. I could see that it was once a lovely, spacious home.
I hope that they at least save the stone garage and restore that. It would make a great little "cove" to sit in during the spring & summer!
What a shame that house would b great restored. It had a lot of charm. Loved the rock garage. What a shame it was allowed 2 get in such a state of disrepair. How old was it???
Tony seems like a great friend to have ❤
Hard to know where to start! Cool pick, for sure. Hard to believe any paper survived that, but glad you got the die cuts, passports, photos, etc. Was trying to guess the age of the house. The molding on the outside in your intro looked vaguely Federal but I'm thinking more late 1800s / early 1900s? I had that Matchbox carrying wheel at 4:00 in the mid '70s - I remember airport security opening it for a cursory glance in the pre-9/11 fashion. My Mom had dressed me well too (I was 8 or so). The garage - holy return to Mother Earth - I think you interrupted a composting process. That had Tiffany stuff in it. I imagine you know this, or Tony told you - but the trunk at 5:37 is a Wells-Fargo type strong box from the mid-late 1800s - they can bring good money. The top one at about 5:43 is mid-1800s or slightly earlier, probably covered in deer or pony hair originally (what my wife calls a "pettable" trunk). Hand-forged handles. Probably for personal use. Maybe transported by Stage in its life. Could be $50-$100. Can't see the one underneath - hopefully all three haven't been ruined by mold. Even some of the lumber / moldings from furniture that is ruined could have value. Yeah, there comes a point when things have been neglected beyond repair. Our two houses have both been older homes in need of restoration. When house-hunting, we had to switch from saying, "That house could be beautiful," to, "We could make that house beautiful." Big difference. I always thought if I won the PowerBall, I would renovate some of these houses that were very far gone. But then I would have to play PowerBall. That was a great pick and fun to watch. Please do be careful about the mold - personally, I'm not big on PPE but it has cost me some. Hope you have a great Sunday afternoon and upcoming week. I am back to work on a new project which will probably be quite time consuming - I worked much of this weekend. Got to the FM and an estate sale but wasn't too much of interest. Love your staircase. Probably not one you want to go down (or up) hurriedly in socks! (My folks had a small, steep one like that which I went down faster than I intended many times!).
There have been a few times when I've almost slipped on my stairs! My younger cousin actually will take her socks off to go up/down the stairs for fear of slipping. I probably shouldn't dust/clean up the dust bunnies on them, they add some traction! Good eyes on the trunks and correct, the one was covered in some type of hair/fur at some point. It's smaller companion was further inside the stone garage. Sadly, the insides have been overcome with mold and home to mice. How that ephemera survived out there is beyond me. It was just sitting in a wooden box, not even covered. All from the late 1800s so far and mostly requests for payment. Oh the simplicity of doing business by mail back then! The die cut albums were inside the house, found by the new owners as they cleaned up the place. My mind tries not to think about what was thrown out in the 3-4 dumpsters that they filled, for if there were scrapbooks and ephemera from the 1800s, I can only imagine what might have been hidden in books and little nooks of drawers and closets! I hope that the new owners at least do some work on the stone garage. It has much potential as a little outside oasis during the spring and summer. Or one could give tours of the stalactites on the ceiling!
Hope that your new project goes well and goes quicker than expected!
OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! I’d love to go in there too.
Aww , what a shame , its a cool house ☹
That one white elephant with the trunk pointing up is a ring holder. My Mom had one like that.
It sure looked like it would be fun to explore and find things 👍👍
Wow what a mess of a beautiful old LARGE home. So much to be salvaged and restored and reselled. Can Taco get some metal stuff? Your guys are in pickers heaven.
The owners plan on doing the scrap themselves, so sadly no metal for Taco Stacks in this one.
In your line of work it’s a very different kind of thinking while trying to making deals 😂❤🎉
The rise and decline of a household...seems that this old property has seen much better times. I like the old stone walls, built with a lot of knowledge. Mold upon mold, some pretty neat finds though. The Victorian die cut album was a stunner and in very nice shape ! Let´s hope that Anthony will be able to make a decent profit on this inventory at the flea market. This was an interesting adventure, Renée, keep it up and have a relaxing rest of this Sunday which is quite cold over here. 🌨Greets from GER, U.
The outdoor stone "garage" I hope will remain and perhaps can be restored into some type of summer "alcove". I imagine removing the garage door & stalagmites, though neat, and setting up some other type of door or even an old iron fence. A perfect area to sit out in during the summer mornings and evenings, enjoying the view and nature. From the papers found in the garage that I have, it appears that either a former former owner of the home, or a relative, was a postmaster. Thank goodness the correspondence that they saved managed to survive all these years out in a box in that garage!
As for weather, I have multiple layers on right now even though I'm typing from the comfort of home. That winter chill has reached us, with a few days this week only reaching a high of mid-30 degrees!
@@PaperandMoose If this correspondence contains some items of philatelic or historic relevance, please let us know ! BTW, do you remember "Walter´s correspondence" from Yellowstone to Berlin sent to you in my recent package ?! I think that I got a whole bunch of similar postcards from Walter and will check this out. If yes, the whole correspondence of this interesting guy will be on it´s way to Bloomsbury soon.
That structure could be made amazing
What fun. I love the search and discovery. How wonderful you could save some treasures.
Distressed paper is quite wonderful in collage.
Awesome digging. Thanks.
Thank you so much for a great video!👍❤
OMyGod! Renee. That house is amazing. All those rooms looked big. I definitely look ked the first floor with the big kitchen. I am also glad Tony was their to get what he wanted for the Flea Market. I wonder what other stuff was in that house before the dumped it all. Happy your safe at home now. God Bless you and take care. Love you. Mari'a. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍💙💙💙💙🍁🍁🍁🍂🍂🍂
We kept saying to each other how we didn't want to think about what they threw out. 3-4 dumpsters is a lot of stuff and I'm sure there were some nice things tossed away. At least the new owners put aside some things and allowed for us to come in before those items went to the dumpster too!
@@PaperandMooseyep
Picking is fun !!
I would love to be in your shoes right now!
Just be careful with the mold.
Have fun. 😊😊❤❤
That book of flowers is divine, I w use them to decoupage
U lost me about somebody wanting money? What couple wanted money?
Ewe remain adventurous and pls take us along! :)
Thank you for taking us along on this trip. Yes a pickers dream to go through such a house. I am glad you were able to safe a few items for yourself.
what a fun pick/dig! Enjoyed the video
It just hurts my heart that someone couldn't get to that stuff before it got ruined. 💔 at least a few things could get salvaged. Be careful being around mold. Glad to see you were wearing a mask. Great video!
Wow what a tough place to go through. Stay healthy. Boy I’d be so allergic to that house. Hope you got a bunch of goodies. ~ Texas
Wowza.
Your mug from the “elephant stash” was Shenango China from New Castle, PA. Long gone, but a great urbex site.
Going to hell in a ham bag… that made me laugh a little too much 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Don't miss old wooden boxes, that one you passed had advertising on it. Can be worth some decent money. 🙂
We grabbed it later!
Where to begin with my comments?! Where to begin?? 😅 i loved the huge window when you first walked in! I do watercolor painting and the natural light would be fantastic!
The space ❤! I loved all of the spacious rooms.
It's really a shame that this house was in such disrepair. 😢
the wagon wheel downstairs !! Beautiful old home wish could have seen it before..happy hunting
Too bad that house is falling apart. It could have been nice. I would want a respirator before I started digging through that mess. I would have to pass on that house.
Interesting though hits a little to close to home for me, my old houses floors have collapsed with lots of the contents falling into the basement. I haven’t lived there in probably 10 years or so
I try not to think about all the good stuff that is being lost.
Oh well.
That Boy Scout knife could be worth some money, I recently sold a Remington one for $300, a New York Knife company one might go for $1,000
Those blue boxes sure looked like Tiffany boxes 😮
Hope you get lucky,👏👏👏🤠🇬🇧💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
So the old man was just crawling/swimming through garbage from room to room?…………..SAD!
I don’t know how he lived in the home, with things accumulating waist-high throughout other rooms. I’ve been in other hoarding situations where the person just finds a means to live around it. Sad that he probably had a lot of nice things that just went to ruin.
That was such a unique house! I love seeing the layouts of old homes. So different on the east coast versus here in Minnesota where I live. The scrapbook was great!!🥰🥰🥰
This brought back such wonderful memories!! I remember my uncle and I going through abandoned houses and finding history treasures ❤
That was probably lots of fun!
such an interesting video.
Starting my comment as I watch. I can only imagine what that house was. The amazing things it saw as a family grew and lived. It's huge and reminds me of a lot of the 90s shows we used to watch on TGIF. My Japanese teacher was obsessed with Phish. He talked about them all the time. Back to your video. That bunch of trolls remind me of when I was going through a huge box of clearance trolls at Meijer trying so hard to find a certain one for my dad and what did I find $5 and the troll. I can definitely see hoarder in the way things are just thrown about in odd places. The people who bought it probably saw the damage the rats had done to some of the pile and decided to just throw it out. Glad though Tony got an opportunity to save some of things from the landfill. Thanks for showing us another Tony adventure of a pick. Super nice of them to save things for you.
Soooo fun !!
Hi Renee. When I saw the bed frame and golf clubs, I thought of Taco Stacks. I've seen hoarders living in condemned houses with broken glass, etc. They have
a mental disorder. Always enjoy your content. Tina, Al's wife
Renee. Thanks for your time n video.
I WOULD NOT BEABLE TO DO YOUR JOB DUE TO COPD ,BUT I CAN WATCH YOU.
How cool is that for you to do. Like you said it's like a time capsule. I'd love to be there helping, how exciting for you. ;)
What I was enthralled with were the beautiful stone walls in what I guess are the outbuildings.
It Was At One Time A Beautiful Home.🤗😊
Yes it was!
Great episode.
Thanks for saving the Trolls ❤
All of the old furniture ❤
Oh Wow! Oh my gosh! Oh Wow! Oh my gosh! Wow! Gosh! Oh Wow!!!!!!! Oh my gosh!
I hope that old house can be saved a lot of living went on there renee who's your new helpers?😊
You and tony and his friend are truly incredible people. That showed this person such respect. That so sad .love you and your channel
I bet that place was a beauty in its day. I think people may intentionally get Toney messed up on these deals. It happens all the time. It upsets me. But I figure if he can forgive them, then I can, too. This looked like fun. But also very tiring. I wish you had been wearing a mask. My husband came home with me a roll top desk. He went tool shopping and ended up going to an antigue store. I don't think it is really an antigue. But I will think it is because he was sweet enough to get it for me. ❤❤ He is also going to have a man install revashelves in my kitchen. I am very excited about that.they slide out. And you can pull the top and bottom out separately.. Great for 5' old ladies with arthritis.😅 well I have rambled enough. I love you. Have a wonderful day. Stay safe and healthy.❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😘💞💞✌️👶
Keep exploring while you can. It sounds so cliche but its true. Move, travel, stay inquisitive so you have memories to look back on.
Wow...what a mess of orphaned items! I have video sets, on hoarders, amazing what these folks pile up! The scrap book is quite a find. Yesterday, I went to a warehouse sale...found some cute pieces...a very nice hand carved fr-g...two old ceramic turtles (for my back yard) and a neat piece of Native American pottery. There was another piece I saw in the online photos...a vintage ceramic Christmas tree...but the price tag was too heavy at the present...if it does not sell before the Holiday, the price may come down...hope WAY down....I have been going to their estate sales for years...hope Guy will treat his old customer with a nice price! That old house was quite roomy!
You found frogs even at a warehouse sale?? You have the magic touch! This home had elephants 🐘 Most missing a leg or two it seemed. Looks like there might be an estate sale or two that look interesting somewhat in my area, have to keep an eye out for when they add more photos to the listing. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
Excellent Thanksgiving, hope yours was as well! One of my late lady friends loved elephants, as to figurines...only collected those with the trunk turned up (good luck). Looks like those piles had the "m-m" smell of death...mice & mold! @@PaperandMoose
Please tell me you got all the eleghants. And càn I by them for a reasonable price.
Don’t open the refrigerator!! Someone did on another channel and it was absolutely horrible. I don’t have smellovision but I could smell it anyway.
Was there any other places on the property that had stuff in it? Hoarders tend to run out of space then take up sheds, out buildings, sometimes trailers and sea canisters.
Yes, apparently there were old cars out in the yard that were jam-packed with things and used for storage. Those had been removed quite some time ago. We found older hubcaps for Audi, VW, and Volvo in the stone garage, so most likely those were the types of cars that had been out in the yard.
at least you got some things out of there safely
I have been in places worst than this property, were the walls were black and it was not paint with floors you need to watch your step or your going through. This property would be a blast to pick, I would fill my vehicle since its all going to the landfill, save as much a possible.
The Victorian book is super neat...
I would be afraid a rat would be crawling out somewhere!!! Yikes!!I couldn’t do it!
The other guy found only the skeleton of a rat, but I was wondering if we were going to come across any live creatures!
How did they buy it without having an engineer come in
I love that when they started out just filling up dumpsters and throwing stuff out then they want people to pay them after that half the time anything that was worth anything has been thrown out. I’ve been through a situation like that before and they wanted Buku bucks for stuff that was mediocre to not worth it.
🎉
Really good video, Renee. Enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mould is so horrible. Back in the day I found a book with lovely Victorian things glued in….. and mould everywhere. I couldn’t save it. At least you saved some things……
I would love to be with you scrounging around an old house with antiques Who knows by what you'd find . That would be so fun But who knows what was thrown out OMG I don't even want to think of all the stuff that could have been saved . Hope you had a great Thanksgiving 🦃 with an lots to eat We had our Thanksgiving in October 🇨🇦🦩
Our Intrepid Renée - go. go, go and find your treasure! I said a prayer for you to find riches, God bless you ! 💖✝💎💍💰
Great video Renee and yes that is one thing I have often wondered, how far would you travel to do a clean out? And which was worse the rat or the hotdog 😂
The hotdog house was worse. It’s going to take something bigger than a rat skeleton to compete with that smell. How far would I travel… I think it all depends on the home & its’ contents.
@@PaperandMoose you know I'm not going to let you forget the hotdog house🌭🌭
💜
Tony, the adventure king! 😊That was so fun (at least to watch) but please next time you visite a house with so much mold, wear a more portective mask.
That home had some big rooms. A shame it was neglected.
Did you keep The Stompers
What an awful mess! Can you tell us how hold the house is? Yes, I would clean that cup up and drink from it. Run it through the dishwasher or a sink full of water and Clorox and it'll be fine.
