UPDATE: Elton Sawyer says that NASCAR will review the finish of tonight's race to determine if penalties are warranted. My guess - like I said in the video - is that they could issue a points penalty, fine, or suspension depending on what they see in the SMT/radio. I would be surprised if they took away the win, but anything is possible.
Bring back the days when "gentlemen" raced each other, like racing back to the line under caution, when you gave a guy the chance to get his lap back. Not, "Boys will be Boys". Yup, this is what happens when boys race. But it was a cool spectacle to witness! 😂
I like that young man. Hope to see him in cup in a really good car in the future. Not knocking MBM, they're out there doing the thing when many have given up these past few years.
so get rid of the god damn playoffs, the france family don't have brains for creating points format, bill france jr wasn't good, his highschool friend latford had 100% brains but not brian france, neither jim france is too old, he seems old enough to knock biden out of the election instead of coming up with a new format, JESUS FUCKING Christ
Nascar created this issue. Not taking away anything from Austin tonight on his win, but there is no scenario where he should have a chance to win a championship based off 1 good run, while bottom 30 in points
Btw this video is #24 on RUclips trending. This shows how far you have come from doing a stop motion series and comedic parodies, to now having one of the most credible NASCAR shows and podcasts. Congrats dude!
from what it looked like to me as soon as he got under he locked up the brakes or something but no matter what happened he wasn’t going to make the corner no matter what
@@jaidedeye he’s the only driver I’ve ever followed and cheered for. Started watching nascar when I was 6-7 and he was a rookie that year. I got really involved with school in 2017 so I largely missed his historic run. My biggest regret ever as an avid sports watcher. I often say nowadays if there is any strategy involved in a race he has no chance.
It’s nascar, you’re going to have some bumping and moving someone out of the way for a win. Every driver has done it, every driver will continue to do so, it’s what’s made the sports biggest highlights over the years so popular 🤷🏼♂️
Dillon should absolutely be fined and receive a points penalty. Past precedent supports this 100%, but he still has a win so he’s in the playoffs regardless of what nascar does
They have in past. And I think that's why some are OK with it. You race drivers how they race you. And it's about time their style of driving came back to bite them
With how the current format is, I would be more upset at Hamlin and Logano since they’re already locked in. Bubba is still fighting for a playoff so it would be a little more understandable coming from him
On June 9, 1991, at Sonoma (California) Raceway, Ricky Rudd crossed the start-finish line under the white flag to single the final lap but was black flagged for rough driving. Rudd was in second place when he made contact with leader Davey Allison before the final lap was complete and caused Allison to spin. Rudd crossed the finish line first but was not given the checkered flag. It waved for Allison as he passed under it. Such a finish had never happened before or has happened since that day.
But I remembered that some people (as mentioned by SlapShoes once in a video) kinda blamed that on "Royalty" status of Davey Allison (being the son of Bobby Allison) instead of rough driving.
tell that to Denny and Joey. Can't tell you how many times they've wrecked people for the win. Just desserts, I say. They can dish it out, but they can't take it? Sounds like they're both just hypocritical crybabies who only moan when other people benefit from breaking the rules, but are fine with it if they're the ones doing it. Zero sympathy.
Dude dumps almirola for his daytona win Wins a demo derby And has to dump 2 guys in one corner to win now Dillon has 2 wins. Not 5 Guy stinks. Doesnt deserve his ride
I thought the same thing this was like the 1st time he actually deserved a win but ran outta talent on a restart and slaughtered the field to get the win only other time he wins is a restrictor plate horseshit or a rain out or shit like that he had a car to do it and now he blew it.
Like Eric said don't hate the player hate the system, the doors always been wide open for stuff like this and what would u rather have the fia take over and completely ruin NASCAR by saying u can't even pass a car. And struck how much funding can be used in the off season for upgrades like screw that dude, I'd rather see this happen, if this was 2022 I'd see more of a reason to be ticked about this because the cars weren't safe, but we haven't seen a concussion in over a year, so get over it and move we all know Dillons a first round exit, just accept the fact he might the reason ur favorite driver makes the second or third round and not be out in the first
As a CNC machinist for about 30 year ive ran both Okuma and Hass machines and i have to say the quality of Okuma is exceeds Hass and most other machines by far
Dillon is LUCKY he dumped the two biggest villians in NASCAR to win; it got him cheered. Now picture the same situation, but he dumps Elliott and Larson (or Blaney) instead. He would have needed security leaving the track.
NO, NO ONE DESERVES TO BE "TARGETED" BY A DRIVER THAT ONLY WANTS TO WRECK/POSSIBLE INJURY/OR EVEN KILL ANOTHER DRIVER FOR WHAT!?!? A TROPHY!?!?!? WTF!?!?!?!? USE OF VEHICLE AS A WEAPON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eric, I was one of those 10s of thousands of fans on that hot August night in Bristol when the #3 wrecked Terry LaBonte on the final lap on the back straightway just in front of me and my boys stood around booing long after the race was over. And then Childress said well we needed the win. Cheat to win
U know, I was thinking the same thing. Looked like if ur driving the #3, u can summon Sr and there it is. "Didn't mean to wreck him". But...Dillon did.
100% poor job on the Finish, HOWEVER, Spinhouse ruined his great performance, not Dillon. Once Austin was in that situation He either does what he does or takes a 3rd place, and everyone forgets what he did tonight.
@@garyjackson3531settling for 3rd does nothing for him. Settling for 3rd doesn’t get him into the playoffs. Even Denny Hamlin said that, while he hates the move, AD had to do what he had to and he can’t blame him.
@@briand330 the most common one I see is Kyle Busch spinning out by himself, then "struggling" to get the car moving until the yellow flag comes out. Then he takes it through the pits. I've seen that at least 3-4 times.
I feel the same way it’s wayyyy to convenient every single time and it’s just cringe hey wink wink we are totally gonna go to overtime and I’m here like yea noooooo not again 😩 thanks nascar or WWE Racing
What's so upsetting about this whole situation is that this was such a compelling race and that the 3 had the legitimate speed to win this race and then it just broke down again due to another overtime debacle and this culture that NASCAR has been building towards for the last 10 or so years.
Agreed. After that finish I feel like everything that I previously watched was useless. Who cares about the first. 400 laps. Just crash everyone out on the final lap and you win. Mario kart style
The playoff format and everything has built up to this for years at this point. Win and you're in. By any means necessary. This year and in the future, we are truly gonna see what it will take to win one of these races. What people and drivers will do to just have a chance, and it will not be pretty. Change is gonna be needed, and soon. I think it is also important to not focus on those involved in *some* capacity as well. It was Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin who were wrecked for the win, two drivers who have races dirty in the past. I'm a Logano fan and will 100% say that, and I do think some fine should come for his actions after the checkered flag. Just because it was those two wrecked does not make what Dillon did any better. It doesn't justify it. It was a display of the pure desperation drivers will have and the near joke of a format the playoffs have become and proved itself to be. Dillon deserved the win. He had it. No doubt about. The way he did it, though? Not how it should've gone down. Ricky Stenhouse does it again.
I think it may be time to take away either "win and you're in" or "overtime restarts" for 2025 or 2026. Dillon raced very cleanly, taking dozens of laps to pass Lagano and Hamlin properly in the last stage without using the bumper. There is 0% chance this would have happened If the race would have ended under caution like the old days or if he didn't feel like he HAD to win at all costs for his team to get into the championship.
💯💯💯 IMO, we need to get rid of these dang GWC finishes and just do what everyone else does. Wave the checker and yellow at the same time. Also, go back to the Chase with maybe just a few minor adjustments but it should all be points based. No “win and your in.”
Point system still sucks a 30th place in points has a chance at the cup championship that's crazy, they need to go back to the Winston cup points system.
In IndyCar and Formula One, they have 2 and 3 tire compounds respectively. The rule is you have to run both (IndyCar) and at least 2 of the 3 (F1) during the race. It mixes things up. Formula One cars don't refuel during the race, so without the forced stop, you'd have teams on the hard tire try to run the entire race on one set. I don't know if this would make NASCAR better or worse, but it made it interesting tonight.
@@garyjackson3531Well this rule is you must run 2 different compounds during the race E.g. Soft - Hard You can't do Mediums - Mediums However this rule is overruled if the entire race is covered in rain. You can run an entire race in wet conditions without a pit stop. This happened to Esteban Ocon at the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix but that's risky. Of course for strategic reasons you would pit in any conditions. But in the rain in F1 I don't think you can get disqualified for now using different wet weather tires for obvious reasons especially if it is only optimal for say Full Wet tires or Intermediates
The issue with today’s race isn’t the “win you’re in” - it’s the overtime. If NASCAR would eliminate that and go back to traditional race ending it would solve a lot of issues. Far too often the races end similar to how today’s race ended. Just look at how many times we have multiple overtimes. As for what Austin did, under present NASCAR rules and and conditions he did what he needed to do. Both Joey and Denny have done similar things to win races.
Absolutely spot on. There are few inherent scenarios in NASCAR that they are trying anything to avoid now. In the past drivers having a championship year would "clinch" with 5 or even more races to go in the season. Then one year it came down to the last race, it was really exciting to watch live and NASCAR became addicted to all the hype that went with it and have been artificially trying to recreate it ever since. The other as you point out is races ending under yellow. It used to happen often and while not the most thrilling way to end a race it was just part of the deal. All these sudden death and win-and-you're-in scenarios NASCAR has concocted are coming back to bite them.
Yep the overtime stuff sucks and for me it kinda ruins these races in the way that the leader at the end of the allotted laps doesn’t win a lot of the time and if the race is 400 laps then the leader at lap 400 should be the winner
Joey and Denny’s “similar” things aren’t nearly as egregious. They’ll do a bump and run or run someone up the track, but neither has ever done anything nearly that bad.
@@TheSaturnV Yep, 1992. Despite all the chase and playoff nonsense Nascar has tried to implement since then, nothing has come close to what happened organically that special year. That's what made it so special even all these years later.
NASCAR continues to prove how nobody is ever going to treat it like a real sport. And this is no exception. Having a guy clean out a competitor and then right rear hook another guy for a win. Not a championship, a race win. And now they have a guy who wasnt even top 30 in points now "in the mix" for a championship when we all know he's gonna be a first round exit. The playoffs are such a horrible idea and it's proven time and time again that this system steals championships away from guys who actually deserves it (the big 3 2018, Edwards 2016, Harvick 2020, etc) there's a reason no other series has a playoffs. F1, Indycar, IMSA, WEC, all these series have good points system and MOST OF THE TIME deserving championship winners. I'm genuinely beginning to doubt that NASCAR is even a sport anymore. They have no rules on wrecking ppl esp for wins. And they've been pretty solid on intentional wrecks this season but this blows it out the window. Stupid, just stupid.
This "win and you're in" format is bullshit . Something needs to change. There is no way that sombody that has totally sucked all year should get a free pass. Asscar needs to figure something out because magically getting to the playoffs is crap. It should be well earned.
I still question to this day why NASCAR got rid of the Top 30 in pts rule, they now make it easy for jokes like Dillon to have rare performances and risky moves to cause stuff like this. This is the top stock car racing series on the planet, and they have now made it easier for any mfer to win any race and make the playoffs even if they are the butt end of the field week in and week out.
As much as I can't stand Joey Logano, it made me mad to see him wrecked so blatantly. Dillion clearly lost that race fair and square, just plow his way to victory. I genuinely felt bad for both Joey and Denny. I mean, Denny and Joey should have no problem spending the next few races helping Dillion find the garage via a wrecker... I'm hoping somewhere around lap 1. Each of them owe him a race. If I was behind Dillion, I'd use him as my brake entering turn 1.
Austin Dillon just exposed NASCAR and I’m totally here for it! Maybe now they will finally open their eyes and realize the things they think are fine are not fine at all.
Bring back Hoosier tires and get back to the racing leading to innovations. These cookie cutter IROC Wal Mart gen cars aren't going to accomplish anything.
It’s not just the points and racing for the championship. The “win and you’re in” playoff format has created huge sponsor bonuses and incentives as well. And there is a big payout difference between 16th place playoff position and the 17th place non playoff position.
As much as I hate Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano, I can agree that this isn't acceptable. Back in the day, if you did this, kiss your ass goodbye. You'll never see this while watching a sprint car race. If you tried that, you'd lose position, you'd probably wreck yourself, or you wreck your car and another car and possibly risk minor to major injury and a pissed off car owner.
I agree with you, Eric. I have hated the Chase/Playoffs since its inception all the way back in 2004, but the win-and-your-in format today is so hidious that I would glady welcome back the 10-car Chase era seeded by points alone, or the Top-20 in points limit on winners qualifying. I can't even be mad at Austin Dillon for his dirty moves. This is exactly the kind of stunt I have thought someone might pull sooner or later. This is a black eye for Nascar and I hope they will take a hard look at themselves in the mirror.
As a suarez fan, this was a damn good race and one thats been coming for a long time. Hope hes able to keep momentum going into the rest of the season.
@@iankhan4614 so risking people’s lives for a chance at going out in the first round of 16 is what it’s about? Dive bombing a corner and not giving 2 shits about who you hurt? @@Super_64 Joey wrecked William Byron at Darlington 2022 to win. He spun Matt Kenseth at Kansas in 2015, then at Talladega in the spring of 2016. Logano moved Truex Jr at Martinsville to win and advance in the round of 4 in 2018. Denny Hamlin wrecked Kyle Petty at Dover in 2007. He ran Kyle Busch into the wall Charlotte in 2010. Also wrecked Chase Elliott at Martinsville in the fall of 2017. So what Austin Dillon pulled of is no different than what they've done.
Honest question: How is this different from Spingate? Apart from the fact that Clint acted to help a teammate make the playoffs rather than himself, and that got stripped away - there's clear evidence that Austin Dillon wrecked 2 cars for this win to lock him in - how is this not seen as altering the finish for a playoff spot? I think RCR should receive the same punishment as MWR did.
@@easyenetwork2023 Penske conspiracy theory aside, Clint acted to alter a race finish to allow a teammate clinch a playoff spot. Austin acted to alter a race finish to allow himself a playoff spot. Why would these two situations be penalized any differently?

"Hate the game not the player" but it wasn't the game that drove through Logano. Bump and run is one thing but driving THROUGH another driver is something else entirely. And then he hooks Hamlin, but we won't talk about that. Par for Mr. Dillon's course.
Its because theyre testing and AD has nothing to lose points wise from penalties if they get caught. Just like Gibbs testing is blowing engines every week before the playoffs.
The playoffs are an abomination. A guy who’s 32nd in points shouldn’t have an opportunity to race for a championship because he wrecked the hell out of two much better drivers. I don’t care if it’s anticlimactic at times, a full season points format will always be more legitimate. Model it off F1 and increase the points exponentially as you go up through the top 10 and give a healthy amount of bonus points to the winner if you want to emphasize winning.
For anyone that is OK with this just think how you would feel if you're favorite driver was in the same position as the 22 or the 11, I'm sure you won't be happy about it
@@nathanmiddaugh6986where has logano ever dive bombed a corner like that? That’s the difference… honestly what Dillon did was dangerous… And if it is true if someone was saying to wreck Denny… that person should be suspended also for a blatant intentional action to wreck another driver
I can’t think of a time that Joey drove his car too deep into a corner just to clean out the leaders. He makes some very questionable blocks and isn’t afraid to use the bumper. What Austin Dillon did was absolutely wrong, I don’t care who he wrecked, that move wasn’t cool.
This is what NASCAR wants if we are all being honest here. To think they want actual racing is to believe in a fairy tale. No more real than Harry Potter.
@@samharris3508 Austin Dillon gave it his all. If that's what it took for him to make it into the playoffs, so be it. I mean, that's what this points system is asking out of drivers. By the way, those two didn't give Austin a break. Joey slowed up in front of Dillon and Denny cut him off. They were in his way, so that's why they got wrecked.
@iankhan4614 doesn't matter. Running through people IS NOT racing. NASCAR is a joke of a series, and people thinking that this is okay continues to make the series a joke. This is just WWE on wheels. Entertainment > Legitimacy.
@@samharris3508 so wait a minute. So Austin caught up to Joey and got into him because Logano slowed up. Then Denny drove across Dillon's nose and Hamlin wrecked himself. For those two incidents, he's wrong. Dosen't add up. Go figure.
I was a staunch defender of the playoff format. But that was it. 32nd in the points and now occupies a playoff spot. After winning like that? No. Blow it up and fix it
Just reinstate the minimum spot rule. You have to be at least a certain level in the points to be in the playoffs. In this case, Dillon could "bank" the win, in case he managed to climb out of the basement in points. If not? He's not in.
Sorry Eric idc, this should be a DQ now! Wrecking drivers intentionally as we know is gonna be a fine or suspension. The fact that Dillon wrecked 2 and won’t be penalized shows that you can do whatever you want on the last lap. Bubba, Elliot, hocevar, etc were all penalized in some way, if they don’t take his win away there should at least be some sort of point deduction.
I agree with your thoughts. I'm not a RCR fan but #3 did look like the fastest after #20 speeding penalty but- the way he 'won' was dirty; it was reckless & egregious. I understand it but it was still wrong. Thanks for daring to say it like it was.
I actually kind of doubt it. Oh both will want to but he's a complete non-factor in the championship. They aren't going to want to damage their own chances by taking out a guy that's two laps down. Now if he somehow does have another competitive run or one of them is struggling for some reason, yeah there could be some big time payback
I feel like they won’t take the win away simply because it was the last lap, if it wasn’t, similar to the Elliott and Wallace incidents, they would’ve penalized Dillon
I can’t wait to hear the ridiculous reasoning from Elton Sawyer how that finish was okay in nascar’s eyes. When something more than a bump and run happens for a win, it should be reviewed because doing nothing will just show wrecking multiple drivers for a win is acceptable. On a bright note, glad there was some promise with the different tire compounds!
Hey Eric, I am not a fan of any of the drivers involved. However, I believe that Dillon’s move was a bit of victim of circumstance. He didn’t want to make the move, but NASCAR has set the playoffs in a fashion where the drivers need to make moves like this. With the current rules, NASCAR is asking for things like this to occur. Its worth pointing out that both races at Richmond this year resulted in backlash at NASCAR. Something needs to change. However, this should not take away from the option tires. I thought they were very solid. It was electric there in person, but that is just my view from a neutral stand point.
At the end of the day Austin had a choice. He's not innocent. I'm not a fan of these 3 drivers either, but Dillon should at the very least be suspended for hooking Hamlin.
bs. where is it stated that you should wreck someone? he made the proactive choice to wreck two drivers. that's not NASCAR. that is a dillon problem. there is a reason we don't have this conversation every week of mediocre drivers wrecking their way to wins. it's because some drivers have respect for themselves, other drivers and the art of racing
Why were you angry with Austin Dillon? What did you expect? Dillon wants to win and race in the Chase. I'm not a fan of Austin Dillon, but Hamlin and Logano are not squeeky clean and both are already logged in to the Chase.
@@oskydave That was good stuff. I don't care. When you are trying to make the playoffs, you can't be nice. By the way, Denny Hamlin wrecked Austin at Texas in the national series race in 2012. Joey Logano has moved drivers like Truex Jr at William Byron out of his way.
I've been watching NASCAR since 1992, and this Finnish reminds me of the days when drivers raced for trophies, not just for a good points day, and immediately run off to photo shoots or spend time on a paradise islands posting on social media.
Where does this end until Nascar starts policing itself better and starts holding drivers accountable? Unfortunately, I think Nascar changes the same way they brought in the HANS device. It will take a driver to get killed for them to realize the manufactured drama isn't worth it.
7:33 I'm glad you said this. People are only accepting this because of who it happened to, which shouldn't matter. Wrong is wrong. Good take and good video as usual.
This seems like a pretty slam dunk suspension to me. Don’t strip the win. Just suspend him from one race. Then don’t grant a playoff waiver. Plenty of precedence with Elliott for the same type of incident on Hamlin in ‘23. And it keeps the playoff integrity in tact.
Kurt Busch said he would wreck his mom for a win. That’s how much it means. Not saying this is deserved and right. But Joey has done this before.. and so has denny…
💯I agree.. You're the one of the few honest people out there... I am not defending Austin Dillon one bit nor the move but Denny Hamlin and Joe Logano BOTH have done the same thing multiple times over their careers trying to win races... ask Matt Kenseth and Chase Elliott and others...
Loser mentality. That's why no one outside of the south takes this stuff seriously. You shouldn't be able to race if you are intentionally wrecking people
I agree100%! I would wreck my granny for a win in any race car from local dirt track to racing with the big Boys in Nascar! It's really just part of being a competitive race car driver! I raced dirt cars with my oldest son 20 years ago & we put each other in some pretty precarious situations! Then we would go home, have a few beers & fix the cars so we could do it all again the next Saturday night! Rubbing is racing & wrecking is reality! And damn it a win is a win!
Good points by Eric, but i don’t think they should ever take away wins, but if it happens the driver should get a crew chief suspension and automatic start from the back for 3 races
@@OldsmobileCutlass1969Va on their app they have Denny as 2nd, even tho if you pause the video as soon as the lights come on, he's either 3rd or 4th, NASCAR really just gave up and went back home
So if your name is Austin and you drive a cup/xfinity car you’re; 1) Basically predetermined to win most of your races either by fluke/restrictor plate 2) Can use nepotism to get xfinity level skill-set to a Penske/RCR ride. 3) Have your own set of rules on how you respect other drivers on the track.
I really do appreciate Eric standing his ground on the system. Even as a Jimmie Johnson delusionist, I still would be completely fine if he didn't have 7 titles. The playoffs have become a major problem for not just fans, but drivers, teams, and even people in the industry themselves. Crowing champions under this format have proven, for the most part, to be illegitimate. It's also affected the racing etiquette for the worst and is enabling this new wave of drivers coming in to act the same way. If NASCAR isn't going to do anything to change this, don't be surprised if at some point, drivers and teams will walk away.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think it's past time we go back to the original iteration of the Chase. Take the top 10-12 drivers, reset the points (perhaps taking into account stage wins, pt bonuses, etc.), and have the highest point finisher win it all. And get rid of the "win and you're in" crap, because this is the kind of behavior we're going to continue to see.
Maybe we should just ditch overtime if we wanna be a more professional sport. Imagine ending a marathon by lining everyone back up for a 100m dash. (Plus Kyle Busch would have a Daytona 500 win)
In my opinion we should get rid of green-white-checkers and send trophies to the drivers leading at the advertised distance and pretend the end never happened no it ended under yellow! Mark Martin won the 2007 Daytona 500, Kyle Busch in 2023, Denny Hamlin wins Nashville.
Austin Dillon is 32nd in points for a reason. He's trash. Only in Cup because of his grandpa's money. But at the same time, it's NASCAR's fault for allowing someone 32nd in points to make the playoffs if they win. What NASCAR should do is suspend Dillon for the 1st playoff race (so it actually affects his ability to advance to the next round). Suspending him next race won't matter since he's already locked in now.
@@zyx777zyx They could encumber the win and make it not count for playoff purposes. That's what they did when Logano won Richmond a couple years ago. He failed post race tech though, so I guess that's different
@@Crush1084 That's fair, though I will say in this instance with Dillon's spotter screaming to "wreck him" and just how the whole last lap fiasco went down, maybe this is where NASCAR will finally decline a waiver, which tbh would be totally justified all things considered. This was the first race I’ve attended in person and I’ll definitely be back. Watching guys cut through the field on the new option tire was so fun, and there’s so much on track action that’s usually missed by the broadcast

Rubbing is racing....however wrecking your rival for the sake of a win should be outlawed. I am not a fan of Hamlin or Logano but neither of them deserved to be wrecked in the way they were. Also, I don't care for the "win and you're in" format either.
The Finish was bad but I think this comment carries a lot more weight if he wasn't the fastest car all night and wasn't about to win when Spinhouse did his usual act...
The soft tire is the key to good racing! Nascar is onto something with the tire issues and the next gen car! Big positive in that last night making the racing interesting.
Probably true, but it did happen, and Dillion once again proved he is only a race car driver because of ol rich grand dad. No car owner with a brain would hire him. No talent.
It would be considered 10x more egregious if he hadn’t wrecked 2 of the most hated drivers in the cup series. Imagine if he would’ve wrecked a Chase Elliott. A MTJ. A Ryan Blaney. Austin would’ve needed a SWAT escort out of the track. Rightful winner, but man that was terrible
Exactly. He will get away with it (in the court of public opinion) because everyone hates the guys he wrecked. And if Nascar does decide to penalize him, they will blame Denny for it
Denny and Joey are probably my least favorite drivers in the garage. Usually, I take sides against them. I don't like either of them. However, what Austin did last night was inexcusable.
The old system wasn’t good. Didn’t value wins enough. However, if the winners got 195 points instead of 175, it would’ve been great. 195 points for a win fixes all of the problems it had.
It will be interesting to see what NASCAR does on Tuesday. Eric made an excellent point about the JGR engine problems and with Michigan and Daytona coming up, their engine woes could get worse.

Completely agree, This is a Nascar problem they set the precedent of “Win at all cost” and this is what you get.
None of this happens if Wrecky Stunnedhouse is driving mini stocks somewhere.
💯💯💯
IMO, we need to get rid of these dang GWC finishes and just do what everyone else does.
He deserves to have his win revoked and penalized for dangerous driving
A lot of drivers have said if Dillion get rewarded with a playoff spot they will do same thing for win if someone gets hurt or killed it's on nascar
Outside of the finish the option tire did good and should be used as the primary for all short track races.
@@garyjackson3531Well this rule is you must run 2 different compounds during the race
E.g. Soft - Hard
You can't do Mediums - Mediums
However this rule is overruled if the entire race is covered in rain.

I agree with your thoughts. I'm not a RCR fan but #3 did look like the fastest after #20 speeding penalty but- the way he 'won' was dirty; it was reckless & egregious. I understand it but it was still wrong. Thanks for daring to say it like it was.
A.D. is going to get hammered in the round of 16. It will be fun to see A.D. get smashed into DNF land.
Imagine if the guys dillon wrecked were Larson and Chase Elliott instead of Logano and Denny
But he didn't so it's pointless
@@spencerwright600he would’ve though, and the reaction would be vastly different.

Doesnt matter.
Then it would be more of a problem to some people😂
I can’t wait to hear the ridiculous reasoning from Elton Sawyer how that finish was okay in nascar’s eyes.
@@JoshuAhillyarD89If it's true, with the radio messages of the team, then it's very likely.
Nor should it go against Richmond.
bs. where is it stated that you should wreck someone? he made the proactive choice to wreck two drivers. that's not NASCAR. that is a dillon problem. there is a reason we don't have this conversation every week of mediocre drivers wrecking their way to wins. it's because some drivers have respect for themselves, other drivers and the art of racing
He didnt hook hom, denny tried to block and hooked himself@JoshuAhillyarD89
I think this is the maddest I've ever been at the end of a race.
@@fernandoarroyo3889 Austin Dillon, I proud of you.
Most anticipated video of yours I've had in a while
Agreed
Man if Ricky had not wrecked we would have been glazing Austin Dillon like crazy truly a shame :(
People would have just chalked it up to cheating.

If it was Blaney and Elliot, Dillion would be a dead man
Then people want to use the Darlington excuse on logano when Bryon stuffed him in the wall before he got the bumper
The entire narrative would be different if it was Elliot and Larson who got wrecked instead of Logano and Hamlin
Literally this
So true
Larson has been wrecked more than his fair share but he don't whine about it?!!!

💯I agree.. You're the one of the few honest people out there... I am not defending Austin Dillon one bit nor the move but Denny Hamlin and Joe Logano BOTH have done the same thing multiple times over their careers trying to win races... ask Matt Kenseth and Chase Elliott and others...

I mean to be honest I was about to correct you
Tony Stewart in 2011 said he would wreck his mum to win a championship
Good points by Eric, but i don’t think they should ever take away wins, but if it happens the driver should get a crew chief suspension and automatic start from the back for 3 races
Real question is how on earth Hamlin was second, he was in the wall, and he crossed the line 5th?
NASCAR being NASCAR, can't even freeze the field during the caution right
At the track Reddick was scored 2nd!
@@OldsmobileCutlass1969Va on their app they have Denny as 2nd, even tho if you pause the video as soon as the lights come on, he's either 3rd or 4th, NASCAR really just gave up and went back home
NASCAR stated he was 2nd during interviews, so Tuesday is going to be really spicy
Might as well give Logano 4th or 5th at this point, just for the hell of it!
I don’t care what anyone says that’s not the right way to win a race
I really do appreciate Eric standing his ground on the system. Even as a Jimmie Johnson delusionist, I still would be completely fine if he didn't have 7 titles. The playoffs have become a major problem for not just fans, but drivers, teams, and even people in the industry themselves. Crowing champions under this format have proven, for the most part, to be illegitimate. It's also affected the racing etiquette for the worst and is enabling this new wave of drivers coming in to act the same way. If NASCAR isn't going to do anything to change this, don't be surprised if at some point, drivers and teams will walk away.
If Hamlin did that, The fan base applauding Dillon would be calling for Hamlin's suspension.
Lmao Hamlin DOES do that !!!!! And Logano many times !!!!
@@alexcika9906 Neither of them have junked multiple cars to get a win. Or have done something so unreasonable to do. Especially in that manner.

No, we shouldn’t get rid of overtime, you clearly didn’t watch back in the day. Fans bitched endlessly every time a race ended with 2-5 caution laps.

Goes to show why Austin Dillon's Talent Level is as embarrassing as The Opening Ceremony for The 2024 Paris Olympics
The Finish was bad but I think this comment carries a lot more weight if he wasn't the fastest car all night and wasn't about to win when Spinhouse did his usual act...
The ending was sloppy but ultimately the best car did win this race
The soft tire is the key to good racing! Nascar is onto something with the tire issues and the next gen car! Big positive in that last night making the racing interesting.
If it wasn't for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Wrecked Ryan Preece, then he would've won the easy way without the caution.
It was Ryan Preece coming down on him. Plain as day.
