Barry Sanders is the greatest running back of all-time. Period.
AP...
ezekwu No...one of the best sure, but no. Not even.
AP???? GTFOH
Only cowboys fans disagree. Only person comparable to Barry is Jim Brown
Dan Rozanski not saying this guy's anywhere as good, but you know who runs alot like barry is shady mccoy

But you got to know this one thing
No man does it all by himself

I miss watching Barry Sanders play
I thought you like the Broncos
Me too from a Cowboys fan i remember at 9 years old watching one of his last games against the chiefs i was like wow
Those 90's Lions teams were never really Super Bowl contenders but they were competitive and usually always playoff contenders. Sucks that Barry never got to play in at least one Super Bowl.
Lions were never that good outside of 1995 they just had Barry Sanders and Herman Moore. Craig, SCOTT Mitchell absolutely trash QBs. Mitchell even in 95 was a turnover machine.
@@jaymule7342 they were in 91 when they made the nfc championship, but lost in 93, 94, 95, 97, in the first playoff game with sanders and 99 made the playoffs without barry going 8-8 but loss 2 the redsking and shoud have made the playoffs in 2000 going 9-7 but loss 2 the bears in a win or go home game week 17
@@jaymule7342 yea mitchell was great in 97 if you look at his stats but thats it n he was very inconsistent
@@barbarapaparella2282 What are you talking about?? Are we talking about the same Scott Mitchell who had 19tds to 14int in 1997 🤣😂😂. Like I said, 1995 was the only good season Scott had I’m sorry, but you don’t know what you're talking about.
@@jaymule7342 lol u right 95 is when he had both perriman n moore with over 100 catches
Sterling sharpe
In 1994, Sharpe concluded one of the greatest three-year stretches by a wide receiver in NFL history. He caught 94 passes for 1,119 yards and 18 touchdowns. His 18 touchdowns were the second-highest single-season total in NFL history.
Sharpe suffered a severe neck injury during the 1994 season and was forced to retire at age 29.
In his eight-year career, Sharpe played in all 112 games. He caught 595 passes for 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns.
When he retired, only three NFL players averaged more receiving yards per game (72.6). Only eight players had more career receptions and touchdowns.
From 1992-94, Sharpe's average season looked like this: 105 receptions, 1,285 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
Paul Gerhardt Sterling Sharp and Brett was the reason I was and still am a Packers fan
Sterling > Shannon. It's a shame he didn't get to share in that Super Bowl win in 1996.
Green Bay's offense would of set all kinds of records had Sterling Sharpe not gotten injured. After that season, Favre really emerged. He was the league MVP for the next 3 years in a row.
We came here for Barry, not Sterling.
It sucks he got hurt. I hate it. I think Favre, as good as he was, got sunk in to the all or nothing bullshit because he lost Sharpe. Good grief. :(
Dave Krieg was the best QB the Lions had during the Barry Sanders era. Sad because Krieg was a journeyman by then.
Barry Sanders.. the best running back I've seen play.
Barry Sanders... the best running back anyone's seen play.
Herman Moore was a beast. Very underrated receiver.
And Johnnie morton
Dave Kreig is one of the most underrated QBs of that time. And the Detroit Lions were much better in the 90s than their record indicated. That 90s team was something amazing and special.
Thank God this channel was created
Barry Sanders. Enough said.
Sterling sharpe
one of the greatest seasons by a wide receiver in NFL history.
He caught 108 passes for 1,461 yards and 13 touchdowns. Sharpe became just the sixth player to win the receiving Triple Crown-leading in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. His 107 receptions broke the single-season record of 106 set by Washington Redskins receiver Art Monk in 1984.
In 1993, Sharpe broke his own single-season reception record by hauling in 112 passes. He became the first receiver to top 100 receptions in consecutive seasons, and his 1,274 receiving yards and 11 scores ranked third in the league.
Would have been an all time great if he stayed healthy...The chemistry he and Favre had...man...
That 1 catch he had on the sideline where bret threw a bullet into double coverage was crazy
Barry Sanders was so strong!
I remember watching this on TV. Amazing game. No other player puts you on the edge of your seat like Barry Sanders. It could look like he's going to be stuffed for a 4 yard loss and after stopping, starting, and juking defenders he's scampering down the sideline for 65 yards. He will always be the GOAT!!! 🐏
I love the Lion’s throwback jerseys, simple yet effective. The retro Bears jerseys are one of my favorites too!
the Silverdome in the 90s was by far the loudest stadium ever
Great game. Definitely lived up to the hype. Lions looked done after Porcher opened his mouth on that third down stop. The Packers and Lions had an underrated rivalry in the mid 90's.
Joe Buck at his "quintessential best":
"...big yards!"
"...goodbye, touchdown!"
"(player name). (Player name). (Player name)."
10:15 Notice Barry Makes 4 people miss at the line of scrimmage with that double move. That's why I tell people to bite my ass when they say Jim Brown is the best RB of all time.
As you should, my friend. As you should.
True. Barry was the best runner I’ve ever seen.
You need to make a more complete argument in order to make a claim. One play is one play. Demonstrate Barry is better by the totality of his career.
@@robsmith961
One play? Barry has more of these plays than any back in history [and it's not close]. He never fumbled and he did these things with a terrible offensive line and inept QB play [for the most part].
@@davidwilliams4837 What did Barry Sanders do in the postseason? And the biggest misconception is the 'lack of help' argument. He had TWO multiple Pro Bowl linemen in Lomas Brown and Kevin Glover. He had multiple 1000 receivers to ease the attention paid to him in the run game (Richard Johnson, Herman Moore, Brett Perriman, Johnnie Morton). Scott Mitchell wasn't an elite QB, but the Lions got to the playoffs like 2-3 times in 4 years with him as the starter. Barry Sanders never had to carry the load the way the two best runners of all time did...Jim Brown and Walter Payton. Talk about inept QB play...look at Walter Payton's QB's from 1975 to 1981. Hell even Jim McMahon was largely average outside of 1985. Payton didn't had a SINGLE OFFENSIVE PRO BOWL TEAMMATE until his 10th year in the league. NINE YEARS WITHOUT A SECOND PRO BOWL CALIBER OFFENSIVE PLAYER. Sanders is the biggest sizzle over steak player in football history. For all the great plays, he'd be even more likely to LOSE YARDS (most lost yards in history). This was the reason the Lions couldn't just give him the ball 25 times a game...because he'd try to make the spectacular play and force them in obvious passing downs. He wasn't on Payton's level as a pass receiver or pass blocker either. Great player, great talent, but there's a reason why he never sniffed a Super Bowl. Performances like he had against this same team in the playoffs was a big part (13 carries, -1 yard...only player in NFL history with negative yards and at least 12 carries in postseason history).
Jason Hanson kicked like 21 years for the lions. He ain’t even been retired that long.
Ronnie Goodwin You know he had a good career when he was featured in a Super Nintendo game AND PS4 game.
@@rjwilliams2088 Facts lmao
If Barry Sanders has played a good 15-18 years, he would have crushed every record imaginable. What a treasure to see all of these legends in the same game.
When you realize Joe Buck has been calling games for 25 years and we still have 25 to go..
He actually was somewhat decent in this game
When you realize Ed Hoculi had skinny arms 25 years ago @6:40
Ahhh back when the afc and NFC had the central division! Nice vintage clip NFL
The true black and blue division both Afc and NFC central division were smash mouth football at its Best before the NFL got soft.
Can never watch enough Barry. Thanks for uploading this.
That pick by Brett at the 11:55 mark is what we saw all too often. Already have a chance for a tie and he tosses into triple coverage at the opponents 10 yard line. Still irritating almost 25 years later.
Laurens Funday seriously he just became an interception machine towards the end
He was always a pick machine. But youre right, especially in the playoffs, he was terrible on the road almost every game and in the end average at best at home.
His style of play wouldn't work in today's NFL, that's for sure.
he actually had his best season in todays nfl..
….and every single time he played in a dome or a road playoff game it was a given he'd toss minimum of 2 but more than likely 3 or 4 - and those picks often were throws that I could make. Like just throw the ball as high and far as I can. People talk about the 4th & 26 play in the 04 playoffs @ Philly but so often forget his putrid pick on the first possession in OT. The game against the Saints or Rams or EVERY @ Dallas game also comes to mind. Just 3rd string kind of stuff.
That run at 10:14 is amazing, the vision he had is unreal, that can’t be taught. He saw the defender shed and cut to the middle, saw the nose shed the center and cut back and saw the huge gap that had opened up, insane.
#31 could barely touch him. Watch the next play. He whiffed again 😆
10:00
Barry Sanders had the most 150 yard rushing games, 25 times.
This game was one of them.
All that in only 10 seasons, 153 games, (avg 99.8 ypg)
Just to show you how consistently great Barry was Walter Payton was 2nd have done it 20 times.
Walter played 13 seasons, 190 games, (88.0 ypg)
I was at that game. Great game and win for the Lions!
2:30 wow, it seems Corey Harris was such a good special teams player. He makes the springing block on this return, sprung a block for two kick return touchdown as a Raven against the Vikings in 1998 and in super bowl 35, and returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the same 1998 game against the Vikings.
Hoculi before the biceps
Kyle Adrien aka Roids
I TOTALLY forgot that Dave Krieg played for the Lions after he left Seattle. He actually looked pretty good in this game. P
this channel is gonna be huge the quality is amazing
Good game by Dave Craig.
But damn, Barry Sanders' runs are something else.
This was an alternate 4:00 game that day - and as I remember the feature game on FOX that Summerall/Madden were doing was a major blowout so most of the country switched to this game after halftime and it was a great one. Also one of the first big national exposures that Joe Buck ever had as a football announcer.
The announcer describing the Sterling Sharp catch and run must have attended the John Madden school of sports broadcasting.
Enjoying this channel before Goddell takes it down.
This is an official channel owned by the NFL, so you don't have to worry.
Good Lookin
lmao I wouldn't count Goddell out from taking down this channel
Real ones know how much of a beast Herman Moore. Maaaan!!!!
Nothing like hearing the crowd at the silverdome roar through your TV, but if you got the chance to go there, that was special
The greatest thing I seen all year
Good highlights package. Dave Krieg was his vintage best in 1994 - I don't think many QBs were more fearsome streak passers than Krieg. When he was hot (as he occasionally was over medium stretches; 1984, '86, '88 especially), he might have been the best passer in the league. He was red-hot after taking over for injured Scott Mitchell and teaming up with Barry Sanders he very nearly took the Lions to playoff glory (the dream ended, appropriately, in another close duel at Lambeau in the Wild Card round.) I think the Lions erred when they let him walk to Arizona and turned back to the inept Mitchell for 1995.
He was erratic and, yeah, the infamous small hands/fumbles reputation is at least partly true, but the guy from Milton College was a better than average NFL passer - elite when on a hot streak - who generally found a way to win. Very underrated.
I agree: It's too bad. I wish they had kept Krieg over Mitchell. Or perhaps made a run at Flutie before Buffalo did. They needed a QB, though the O-line was consistently terrible.
Wow what a great addition to RUclips which is way, way, way short on good 90s Favre. That wasn't the only time he and Porcher got into it if you remember. Dave Kreig was a beast that year off the bench and of course Barry Sanders.
New sub bro love the content
need more of these kinds of highlights. I want to see some steve young troy aikman duels. Some kurt warner footage, some jim kelly, some joe montana etc etc
Incredible!! This is my masters graduation year!! I swear Rod Serling has made time accelerated!! I just watched this game, LIVE!! Except it’s 2018!!
Sharpe a bigger Antonio Brown
No Just No
Sharpe was beating jerry rice while he was in his prime in stats he could have been the best wr of all time he is a bigger stronger Bette hands than ab
aye Buddy sharpe 6 0 4.44 40 so yes was a bigger strong faster version of ab better hands too
Paul Gerhardt Sharpe was def more of a beast.
Sharp stays healthy and plays with Farve for 10+ years and Farve's records never would have been broken. Sharp was hands down the best complete receiver ever to play- enough said.
Back before someone told Joe Buck that it was ok to get excited when announcing sports. ;) He's way better now!
After watching the KO return for a touchdown, I didn’t realize blocks in the back were legal in 1994
A Gaytheist fr I was thinking the same thing lmfaoo
To this day, I still say Dave Krieg is the best quarterback that I've ever seen in a Lions uniform. He only had this one year in Detroit, as he was at the end of his 17 year pro bowl career. But he took a team that was floundering in the first six weeks of the season, came in for an injured starter and led the Lions to the playoffs that year. The Lions would play this team again in Green Bay which was another tough close game as Green Bay went on to play Dallas in the next round of the playoffs, which Dallas won then they lost to Steve Young & Jerry Rice and the rest of the 49rs in the NFC championship.
I liked Kreig but not a single Lions quarterback since Bobby Layne compares to Matthew Stafford. Just imagine if the Lions had had Stafford in the 90s with those receivers and Barry Sanders.
I sure do miss when the NFL was like this!
Same here @sirsaint88 😁🏈
What an amazing football match.
Favre vs Sanders in Week 14 of 1994 season was also 16 years before Packers vs Lions met in Ford Field Week 14 of 2010 season where Aaron Rodgers suffered a concussion and the Lions held the Packers to just 3 points.
This is the first time I watch sterling sharp play
Know I know why he was so special
Watching Sterling Sharpe still play despite his injuries is incredible. Also makes me think he was a shoe in for the Hall of Fame had he still played if not for the neck injury. During the season, his name was mentioned along the greats like Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, and Cris Carter.
last time we see the bears 8-5
ROBBIE SilentHiLL lol
I love those lions throwbacks
Now, that’s the football I miss. 😢
Barry had 3 carries for 437 yards didn't he?
Sharpe was such a beast.
I'm enjoying these classic NFL games from the past.
Everything was better than they are now lol
Back then no dink and dunk plays qbs actually throw the ball in the air
Barry shredded HOF Rod Woodson's ACL and Rod only brushed the dirt off barrys shoulder.
6:37 Ed Hochuli pre steroids era... JS
Dave Krieg dropping some dimes in this game, wow.
Sterling sharpe was on pace to be the best wr of all time if you check his stats
and at the age of 6 i learned how to play a recorder. but I don't remember any of it so you see how irrelevant that is? :)
Nice bro
Weird to see Tampa Bay but back then we played the hell out of the late 90's bucs always was a good game
That good game
Nobody will agree with me but I think Buck did a good job announcing back then , besides Moss
I agree wit you. Joe Buck was, and still is a great announcer. I dont see why people hate on Joe Buck.
Dan Marino and the Dolphins needed a guy like Barry Sanders to strengthen their offense. Just imagine Marino and Barry playing together.
Hermen Moore was randy Moss Type wideout, 1 of my favs
Favres receivers could handle the extra mustard!!
Amen
Oh man when my had life
So weird for me seeing Dave Krieg as a Lion teaming up with Barry Sanders, as a long time Seahawks fan...
God damn we don't get games like this anymore. Watching Barry move is like watching Bob Ross painting.
lions vs packers most underrated rivalry in the NFL
7:40 Joe Buck dropping bars

Lil Buck
J. Rubio - lol, don't forget 12:01.
J. Rubio his albums was going platinum with no features back in the day
As a lifelong Packers fan growing up watching Farve, I can say his only downfall was consistently finding the worst times to be inconsistent
Mer ica' well that's the case for many gunslinger QBs when the stakes are high they become predictable therefore more likely to make a mistake.
Mer ica' Favre was a fucking choker.
these teams met again in the playoffs in Lambeau
GB won 16-12 and held Barry to -1 yards rushing
These are some great camera angles is it just me or does this game look better than games from today back then maybe they relied of closer camera angles beings there was no HD
The NFC Norris!
That was great. I remember it WELL. I was a senior in high school. Loved GB. Love in WI. Okay duh. I love the pack. I love the games win or lose with Brett
Man the Silverdome was loud!
Good game
I think this game was blacked out in Detroit (along with both the Week 18 Division Clincher & the Wild Card game the following Week the previous season), it was the last time a Lions home game against the Packers got blacked out though.
God damn the Silver Dome was loud
Sterling sharpe was going to b one if the all time great wide receivers in nfl history before that terrible injury
1:28 Rest In Peace #21
The hit at 1:26
Damn Brett! 😂😂😂
barry sanders was one of the rare players in nfl history to get by on pure talent alone. regardless of his supporting cast, he was able to consistently dominate every year. i'm sure he was a hard worker, but he could have been put on the worst team in the nfl every year, and still he still would have produced.
Wayne Fontes was so afraid that Barry would get hurt that he took him out a lot on the goal line. Barry would've had many more touchdowns if not for that ridiculous head coach.
Barry was a beast at all facets of the RB position. He was a great pass catcher and great on the goal line as well. But Fontes didn't maximize his potential. What Barry did in 10 seasons is mind blowing. Can you imagine if he was on a perennial playoff team who used him properly?
Favre has three UNBREAKABLE records ints, fumbles, overall turnovers. Barry with 3 years of college a 10 year NFL career = Hall of Famer in his 30s
He has most consecutive starts too
Barry also has a similar record to Farve. Most negative yardage.
Favre's looking like Fire Marshal Bill @0:17
Imagine how unstoppable Green Bay's offense would've been with Sharpe there the next 3 years when Favre emerged as the MVP & the league's top passer. Green Bay became a Super Bowl contender. If Sterling Sharpe didn't get hurt, that offense would've probably broke all kinds of records & would've probably been up there with the 49ers offense in 89' & 94'. As well as the Pats offense of 07' & the Vikings offense in 99'
That was different to watch with no lines on the acreen
Do you/do you not have any throwback games of the #DetroitLions from the 1991 NFL Season?
Your time and hard work is more than appreciated! 😊👍✊
The playoff win over the cowboys is among the NFL full games collection
And to think the packers passed up on Sanders on draft night. What a dynasty that would've been.
to think the packers passed on barry... one of the worst misses in NFL history
At 1:26 BOOOOM!!! WHAT A BLOCK, AHHHAHAH.
