Even in his 14th season, Reggie was still throwing offensive linemen around with 1 arm. What a legend
He was DPOY at age 37!
Best defensive player ever !
the minister of defense
May he rest in peace
@@lemmiwinks09 wasn't bad with panthers either
Barry Sanders is the best running back in NFL history I don’t care what anyone else says that’s the truth

Hearing Mike Patrick on the call for Sunday Night Football produces the absolute best nostalgia for of growing up in the 90s. Fresh popcorn, cold Pepsi can with the new "wide mouth" opening, not a single care or responsibility in the world. My only obligation is to take in primetime NFL football on this perfect Sunday evening. Life is good.
I feel you brother. I remember it well.
Stop teasing me man. I'm nostalgic enough as it is. But you're right though those were good times. Life and football we're better in 1998. For me hearing greg gumbel and phil simms a nice way to chill on sunday🏈🍕🍺

@@ASUFAN- Pat Summerall and John Madden too.....(RIP to both)

Was at that game, 11 years old. The roof almost popped off when Barry scored! Silverdome was as loud as they come… and of course watched a bloody fight in the 3rd deck. Good times
Yes good memories
Must have been loud !
I am happy the Lions won that game and props to that crowd there were times where I couldn't even hear the commentary because they were so loud
Like 97 jets game
man two legends going off against each other, Favre and Barry, just extraordinary
Miss this era
Barry Sanders scored his final career TD in this game
That shows just how much the Lions failed him.
There were 10 weeks left in the season and that's simply inexcusable.
That's why the title is wrong. This aint mvp prime Barry. Still great tho
@@bijouxdoum6199 doesn't say anything about Barry being mvp or in his prime............
@@bijouxdoum6199 He was reigning MVP and his whole career was his prime, but the title says in Primetime, as it was MNF.
@@MattPawlowski sunday night football was espn back then.
Although I remember one such game this year being on a thursday night, well before the nfl network game was a thing.
Brett Favre out there doing what he does best turn the ball over 🤣🤣🤣
Barry Sanders... Man what a joy it was to watch him play.
ok st legend
Miss these days
If the Lions secondaries can catch, Farve would've had 6 or 7 Ints in this game. My lord.
If you like watching Brett Favre interceptions, his 2001 playoff game against the Rams is a classic. Not to say it was all his fault.
@4:24 that was a hell of a PA by the Lions there, had me, the cameraman and the Packers defense all bamboozled there. I had to watch it a few times to fully appreciate it.
I watched the full version of this game today seeking it out (I prefer complete broadcasts if available to highlights, even if sometimes I struggle to watch it all the way through admittedly lol), and I agree, I half expected them to mention it on commentary how it even faked them. I never saw it myself first time, it was amazing.
@@ajk I love watching these old games to fall asleep and relive the memories is that weird ? And big Packers lions this week !
Sunday Night Football on ESPN and Mike Patrick’s voice. Doesn’t get any better than that!
When the packers were back to back nfc championship winners

There were three stadiums Brett Favre always struggled in: Texas Stadium, the Metrodome, and the Silverdome.
All of them replaced in the next 15 years
All domes gee I wonder? He also had problems at the Edward Jones Dome
@@ManiaxOnYTZeus
Yes he did!!!! 5 picks in a playoff game. It was beautiful.
Well said!
He did win a playoff game in the Silverdome. As well as the last Thanksgiving game there.
How frustrating it really must have been to try to contain Barry Sanders and Brett Farve was doing what Farve does..throw INTs
This is a amazing rivalry

i would love for espn to go to these graphics for a throwback for one game
They did a throwback graphics game at Mich State basketball in 2003-2004.
@@Knightmessenger yeah but those had to be graphics from the 1980s so that would be like doing graphics from 2003-04 today lol
@@iselin90 i sure wouldn't mind seeing 90s espn. It holds up pretty well with a master tape source like this upload.
ESPN sought to work their first full season of NFL games in 1998 with Mike Patrick, Joe Theissman, and Paul Maguire

Dang... even in his final season, Barry Sanders could still run like a deer. Once he got past the secondary on that touchdown run, he just kicked it into high gear and was gone. I sure miss watching him. He was once in a lifetime type of player.

what a great fucking game

When the Packers lions rivalry was actually good
4:28 That play action was smooth AF
Can you imagine how many yards Barry Sanders would have had in this game if that huge run 15:15 hadn’t been called back by a penalty?🤦🏾♂️☝️
I think it would have put him over the 1500 yard mark, if his yards in the other games were unchanged.
@@Knightmessenger To say the call was terrible doesn't put it into perspective. A hold literally takes place on every down. This one was not any different if you rewatch it.
Here are some of the milestones that were removed because of this call.
Would have been his 6th run of 80 yards or more
Would have been his 6th season of 1500 yards or more rushing
Would have been his 5th consecutive season of 1500 yards or more rushing
Would have finished with career 100 yards a game playing 153 games and gaining 15349 rushing yards
Would have been his 100-rushing touchdown
Would have averaged just over 5.0 yards a carry for his career
@@kinginanorth and in this case, I didn't see a clear holding at the point of attack which is when the refs usually call it.
I miss this broadcast team. The nostalgia!

Chris Berman: Packers about to execute a Hail Mary. Detroit Lions, what do you do?

Man Barry Sanders was something else I wish he had a better career in the NFL the lions love wasting HOF talent
Him and Calvin Johnson had similar careers in a strange way
This was the best SNF

Apparently the over/under for this game was 44 making that last Packers touchdown with under 10 seconds left interesting for a lot of people.

I just found out that there were 2 different players named Mark Carrier in the league at the time. I remember the WR, but the one in this game was a DB.😆
And he could lay recievers out
This was a great game that isn't often talked about. Thanks for sharing. Too bad the MNF game wasn't as exciting.

18:51 Sorry Farve, back breaking Hail Mary’s at Detroit are for Rodgers!
I never understood why the lions felt the need to give the ball to Tommy Vardell once they got in the red zone.
I blame Chris Berman, giving him the “Touchdown Tommy Vardell” nickname. The Lions were obligated to get him red zone touches after that! 😅

Barry + 90s Cowboys O line = 2,400 rush yards a season
Emmitt + 90s Lions o line = 1,200 yard season
Tbh, I don’t think we would’ve been so appreciative of Barry had he played for a winner.
@Alex A no it was 1993 bc that game was on CBS and in 1994 FOX took over the NFC package
Bro cmon. Barry made the playoffs half the seasons he played, even made the NFC Championship game. And the Lions made the playoffs the year Barry retired.
Their problem stemmed from facing the Cowboys dynasty of the 90s with one year of Scott Mitchell as their only competent QB
@@notsauer Kramerwas probably thebest QB Barry played with. I think Batch was pretty good but this was his rookie year.
