It’s so irritating how many times the Packers underachieved with Rodgers and Farve. 95: They’re the hottest team in the NFL, they clobber SF in the Divisional Round and have the chance to upset Dallas. Until after leading into the 4th Quarter, Favre pulls a Favre and chokes it away. 97: 13-3 and Super Bowl Champions. Repeat as NFC Champions are matchup against the Wild Card Broncos. Green Bay doesn’t play their best game, don’t use Dorsey Levens enough and lose a game they should have won. Even Reggie White went on and said they didn’t play their best that game. Were to overconfident. 01: Holmgren is gone, but a lot of the talent is still there, especially on defense. Defense played great in the playoffs. Problem was Farve looked like a deer in the headlights and turned it over 6 times. Defense was keeping St. Louis under control but all the picks just made it to far to overcome. 02: The team is bit by the injury bug but Farve is playing his best ball since 98. Has the chance to clinch the #1 seed but loses to the Jets. Drops to the 3 seed vs Atlanta. Mike Sherman rests multiple defensive starters and Mike Vick runs all over a second string defense. 03: 4th and 26 07: Favre is playing well in a cold, hard fought game. If he wins this, he gets back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 10 years. He could pull the upset in the Super Bowl and ride off into the sunset. And then Favre pulls a Favre and losses in heartbreaking fashion. 11: Now with Aaron Rodgers, they win the Super Bowl and are 15-1. They look like the class of the NFL. So they rest their starters the second half vs the Bears and then the last game vs the Lions. They then have a bye week and look rusty in their Divisional Game vs the Giants. Defense can’t stop the deep ball thanks to the loss of Nick Collins to his career ending injury. Packers being rusty ruins their chance of going back to back. 12-13: Underachieving defense and Kaepernick=Green Bay playoff loss. 14: Don’t wanna talk about this one. 15: Loss of Jordy Nelson exposed McCarthy’s offense and Green Bay only wins 4 more games after going 6-0. After Rodgers carrying the team into the playoffs, he carries them in the playoffs into overtime vs Arizona. Then that bad defense shows up again. 16: A cheap shot on Jordy Nelson takes him out vs the Giants and by the Championship, the team is gassed. Without Adams and Nelson, the offense couldn’t do much. 19: Rodgers doesn’t show up vs San Francisco and looks incredibly poor. Probably right there with the 2010 NFC Championship as one of his worst playoff games. 20: Defense is getting turnovers but Rodgers isn’t capitalizing. Has a 3rd down at the goal line with a chance to take the lead. Has a wide open lane to the end zone. Doesn’t run and instead dumps it for a minuscule gain. That was the moment to say “I’m Aaron Rodgers and this is my house.” Could have John Elwayed into the end zone but he played conservative. Feel this loss is all on Rodgers. Let’s hope this year goes better.
Teams that go into the playoffs with a .500 or worse record have done surprisingly well for themselves once they get there.
