Same. This game is the best out of the franchise which its already one of my favourite game series of all time. I hope they port it to Switch and give it a full sequel too. I lived this game. Never have 170+ hours flown so quickly for me and I still had a lot left to see and do. I loved the story, the characters, the music, the gameplay and the world! Love Love Love it.
Me too. XC1 was overhyped imo. XC2 is ok. But XCX, is still the back of my mind. I’m not gonna lie, I’m just playing XC2 just to wait foe the port of XCX. Once that comes out, I’m replaying the game again. I felt rushed the first time because of my girlfriend. Only got to spend 2 hours a night on the game.
first I've heard this one. XC2 is my favorite but X is so under-appreciated and unjustly hated. X was the only game I went back to play on my WiiU that wasn't multiplayer
I knooooow, this game was so good to the point that it felt like other games just can't live up to it. People forget, in the barrage of "Open World" games in the past decade, why Open World became popular to begin with. Xenoblade X really shows what happens when you go all in and create a world with the integrity of an actual desire to explore.
I'm still fascinated that the underpowered wii u was able to accomplish this game. In a way, Xenoblade Chronicles X made Zelda Breath of the Wild bland by comparison. I diidn't enjoy it as much because X has raised the bar so much on what I wanted from open world exploration games.
Fun fact, the ones who made Planet Mira also made Hyrule for Breath of the Wild. Since it's the same team, if you know that going in like I did, you start to see inspiration between the two that is very similar despite how distinct they are from each other. I think Hyrule lives up to X's hype world exploration, but it's just a fantasy world instead of a Sci Fi world. I'd love to see them go even more ham and original with their world creation though. Something with absolutely outlandish world design (Even though both Xenoblade X and BotW had hilariously weird locales)
joemann7971 The potatoness of the Wii U is greatly exaggerated. Monolith was the only dev team to actually push the console to its limits. All other games went standard fare with things and didn't even think about going an extra step.
@@thorscape3879 well, other games were also impressive in a different way. What made XCX so impressive was just the sheer size of the world. It did make the world feel like a planet (a relatively small planet, but a planet nevertheless). It's easily one of the games with the largest map, and it wasn't just a large empty map. There was usually creatures at every corner. Granted, many were just modified versions of other creatures but it was still fun and exciting to explorer.
Everything you mentioned is pretty much why I love xenoblade chronicles x. I have 400 hours into the game with most of the that just exploring, looking and finding things. I love the environments and just walking around them. But I wouldn't call it my favourite, that goes to the first one. Although I haven't put as much time into it, it was the first xenoblade game I had ever played and opened me up to a whole new world of games. In saying that I would love to see a port of xenoblade chronicles X on the switch just so I can experience it all over again.
Well, they *did* say that the success of XC2 would determine if they would port XCX to the Switch and I'd say XC2 has been fairly successful... so here's hoping
I think XCX has the best world of any videogame. The environments truly are alien, gigantic, beautiful, and fun to explore. And I love how it opens up as you get the skell and then the ability to fly. Definitely one of the best Wii U games. The creature design was also great. That said, I don't think the story was all that good, and the quests were in general too fetch-questy. Still a great game,.
Looking at the footage of you exploring Mira made me really realize how far a step back they took with the world design in XC2. You’re characters are sluggish in 2, they can barely jump, they can only move slightly faster after all this grinding with shop deeds. You get constantly stopped in your tracks and forced to mess around in you menu to pass field skill checks and the levels are more linear and confined. You can jump off high places or run up steep inclines. You can’t fly around and reach everywhere you can see. There isn’t really much of an incentive to explore or much to find really. The locations seem bigger than they actually are as they funnel you towards the next cutscene. The world in 2 certainly looks pretty but the exploration is just not as fun as it is in X. It’s not even close. I hope they revisit the style of game X was, whether that’s a new game or a sequel.
They said the areas in 2 wouldnt be as big as X's or even the original which was more ambitious than the devs could handle at the time. 2 also got shafted for botw
I'd have to disagree because of the limited tools you have to travel, and the fact there is fall damage, encourages you to find your own way around instead of jumping off massive heights. The field skills are a bit bothersome, but they certainly encourage back tracking, summoning blades, and raising them. It's not that bothersome either because when you find a spot that requires a field skill, it's marked on your map along with the requirements to access it. And some create new passages to areas you could not access before. Such as ice bridges. I especially love opening treasure chests while avoiding to aggro lvl 80 enemies in an area!
The field skills are the worst part of XC2. I've burned through literally dozens of core crystals and still didn't get a skill I needed, some people couldn't carry any more blades, or I had too many of a certain type on one character that I couldn't move elsewhere because the game is incredibly stingy with overdrive protocols. It's not fun. I should NOT have to backtrack to farm rng items for a chance of getting the skill I need to progress. It's ridiculous how much back and forth and menu shuffling I've done to finally luck out and get what I need to pass a skill check, only to come across ANOTHER check that I couldn't pass for one reason or another, meaning I had to rinse and repeat and come back and dodge all of the enemies on my way back because there wasn't an easy access quick travel point. The field skills were poorly designed and were the sole reason progression was not fun in a lot of areas.
Hector Usually the field skills are stuff you can easily get from common blades. Like wind mastery. Fortitude, focus, and other field skills that can be only be found on rare blades are tough to get. But the blades you get during the story fulfill those roles eventually. Especially Wulfric since his field skills go up to 5! Granted, getting some field skills can be a chore like finding out the blade's favourite pocket item. I especially dislike having to talk to a certain race I've already spoken to earlier. But nothing compares to killing specific creatures to power up your specials. Overall, yes it's not perfect, but it gives me an incentive to return when I do have the skills necessary for the task. It even highlights for you whether you fill the requirements or not on the map. Not like any of them prevents you from progressing the story aside from a few. And your main blades should have those field skills by then, or if you're short on mastery then throw in common blades to fill the gap. I think what would make this a lot more pleasing is better sorting and filter options. Releasing blades shouldn't be too much of a chore.
worth noting that most of the monolith team dedicated to map design and UI was working on BOTW instead. a lot of the bad parts from XC2 can basically be blamed on the people experienced with them not being present. With this upcoming expansion we should be able to see what the game woudl have felt like if the full team had been there.
I Love Xeno X even after play 1 and 2 the first one still the last favorite and hate when ppl throw sh*t about Xeno X...Xeno X is my favorite until they show me Xeno X2
I remember hearing somewhere that the X devs wanted to make a sequel to X in the future. Might take a while, cuz they're still working on another game that barely has any information other than it might be a medieval fantasy JRPG.
My favorite is definitively X, in terms of World Building it definitively stands out, Mira is a planet filled with mysteries and even by the end of my multitude of playthroughs, most of the questions I have about it's world are still left as a mystery and they should. It wouldn't make much sense if someone knew the origins of the giant rings in Oblivia when mankind has only been there for a few months or so. It's also the first Xenoblade game that had decent normal quests, even thought they can be tedious and can lack direction, the things they can add to the world is quite interesting, making contacts with different Xenoforms, allying yourself with them, having them be a part of the city making the commercial and residential districts seem so much more lively than at the start of the game. The game also shines in it's RPG elements through Normal quests, there are many different outcomes for so many of it's quest (even though the end result doesn't really vary). It's a game that I really enjoyed, I'm definitively glad I gave it a shot because it's my favorite game on the Wii U.
X is my favourite too!! but I really like all of them, looking forward Torna the golden country. And hopefully after this expansion, Monolith will have some team working on a port of X to the switch!!
Xenoblade 1 will always be my favorite game ever. But X was the best open world game I played at the time, and it deserves the exact amount of praise BOTW got. Actually no, THE ENTIRETY OF MONOLITHSOFT DESERVES MORE RESPECT. Lme just list some of the games they have helped work on. LOZ: Skyward sword, splatoon 1, splatoon 2, Smash: Brawl, Sm4sh, LOZ: BOTW just to name a few. But the sad part is they don't get ANY recognition for their hard work, only US the fans give them credit. But in the public eye Xenoblade is only seen as a "Niche" "WEEB TRASH" "BORING" franchise. I hope one day Xenoblade and all of Monolithsoft get the respect they RIGHTFULLY deserve.
Xenoblade chronicles 2 sells over a million, so I think Monolithsoft already gets their respect right there. Also niche weeb? You know Monolithsoft is a Japanese video game studio right?
It was only seen as weeb trash when that stupid character designer decided to make everything all fanservice-y. Now the fanbase is more toxic than it's ever been.
@@Flomen01 You can't call a character designer dumb just because you don't like fanservice lol. That's their own design choice and you don't need to like it, but don't expect games not having fanservice or have anime looks. Dark Souls publisher Namco Bandai is too, but... Then again From Software often makes realistic and dark games, so this us different stokes for different folks.
I love X because of the world, it really does blow Zelda out of the water. I think I prefer it to Xenoblade 2 but just because of the lack of amazing character development in Xenoblade 1 it doesn't eek it out to be my favourite. What other open world mech games are there that execute as well as X, I can't think of any.
There aren't any. And those are exactly the things I miss the most in XC2. The open world and The Skells. Daaaaaaamn how cool would it be to ride Siren and obliterate the shit out of those giant apes...
LegendaryGlasses The skells will be missed, the run button will be missed, but XC2 still has a lot of open exploration. Especially Torna. Never knew you could walk on the bottom...
If there would be a port of Xeno X to the switch, you're saying it's better to have played XC2 before playing Xeno X? I'm planning on getting the switch as well as XC2.
Story-wise it doesn't matter either way. You will probably get more enjoyment if you play XC2 first, X is the more divisive game so it's possible that it'd turn you off the series.
My only takeaway from Zelda Breath of the Wild to the next Xenoblade X would be that I hope they include some kind of mountain climbing and/or spelunking system, as well as hang-gliding. The mountain climbing especially would add a lot more to Xenoblade X's exploration and could influence a lot more exciting areas to explore, and the only thing more fun than cliff diving is the option of being able to pull out a parachute and sail through the air. I think if one thinks that takes away from your Skell, I think not as you aren't flying up to disconnected platforms with any kind of mountain climbing design, and since we are talking about a sequel, taking what tiny bit away from the Skells by letting you glide, they could add new exploration functions that logically Skells could only bring like Deep Sea exploration, Excavating underground caves, and possibly moving through low oxygen areas. I think in a future title, I would also be more interested in more animal behavior for the enemies. Things like having some species prey on others and do things like start battles away from the player with other enemy characters or NPCs, or even interrupt players in their battle by trying to steal away their kill. Maybe even one might help you take on one if it's predators. I also want more parental behavior like attacking "young" versions of monsters will always draw in the adult ones, and possibly even make them enraged. Just more general behavior and animations would be really nice. (before I get into features I would just want in personally because of gameplay biases like domestication, and being able to use those species to find new resource locations, rebuild or fill roles of other domesticated animals in NLA, or even just fight with you in some sort of "Beast Tamer" on foot class)
Agreed, the world itself is incredibly engaging but the enemy/xenoform behaviour is a bit flat. The animations and behaviours of the individual species are interestif enough but different species interacting with or fighting against would be awesome to see.
Now that I think about it, there were no disconnecting platforms in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Wow. Shows how they managed to keep realism in a post apocalyptic world.
I wish the creatures from X were more wierd and quirky like those monsters that worshipped the frozen super boss in 2. The only examples I can think of from X is how saltat stack on top of each other or cantor that stand still and try to catch you off guard.
Dude hell yeah. It's so hard to find videos praising this game, I love it so much. Honestly seeing your footage makes me want to go back and play again.
0:06 I'll raise you. Xenoblade X was all of my gaming during my final semester of high school. I started the winter break before when I got the special edition during Christmas. Any night I got more than an hour and a half of free time I spent playing X. Despite two weeks of barely any play time right before AP tests, I still decided to put in the time the weekend before and I beat the final boss. I mentally listened to The Key We've Lost as they passed out the papers for the exams. For me, thinking about high school makes me think of Xenoblade X. I wouldn't have it any other way. I especially the feeling of having so much to do that you can't figure out what the best or most efficient thing to do at any time is, leading me to just do whatever I felt like in the game. I had just had real difficulty narrowing down every college out there to a few to apply to, and in the end I only applied to the first two good colleges I found. I'm happy with the one I'm at now, but I always felt guilty for not applying to or looking closely at more, and playing through this game plus my parent's advice helped me realize that you don't always have to make the absolute best decision on what to do and how to spend your time. You just have to make sure that when all is said and done, you're happy with the choices you made and you enjoyed yourself as much as possible. Also, thank you for saying that this game was about the exploration as well as actually appreciating the story. Every complaint I heard said that the story was bad. It wasn't bad, they just made it simple with a theme of what it means to be human, in a way that allowed the numerous side quests to shine.
Thank you, someone actually giving X the appreciation it deserves. Take a look at the art book if you haven't, there're just so many things X got right...it really deserves to get a sequel...
This is the Reason I finally Bought a Wii U This year. I even got into it with Player Essence on Twitter because I said this is my favorite one. I Bought physicals of all the games and finished them this year and this one was easily my favorite for all the exact reasons you said. So people just don't understand how to play this game.
This is also one of the best video game OSTs to play in the car with some friends. "This song is fire! What band is this Mike?" "It's from Xenoblade X my dude 👌"
XCX is definitely my favorite Xenoblade game as well. XC1 comes close in world design (ish) but as you noted, XCX has it beat soundly there, and everything else XCX offers- yes, even the story- I actually prefer a lot more. Character customization and classes are awesome, as is the Skell, but XCX just has such a great aesthetic really that carries on to the story, the world, the city- as you noted, the gameplay too. I hear XC2 gets better, but I didn't get very far in it. I should probably return to it to see more but after XCX perhaps I'll only be satisfied by a port or XCX2.
Yes, Xenoblade 2 does start kinda sluggish, but the story gets better & the battle system becomes amazing compared to the first 3-4 chapters, the Torna DLC looks to be even better than the main game from what I've seen as they've ironed out some frustrations from the main game & added cool new features. I never played Xenoblade X...I want to play it so bad lol & I hope they port/remaster it on the Switch, since I've read that the devs wanted to port it.
Thanatar13 I don't know where you're at now. But I gotta say, I felt like in general, 2 was a huge downgrade from X. In terms of exploration, gacha, customization, and those were really important factors in Xenoblade. I still love 2 though.
I like XCX more than XC2, actually. I cannot say this is better than Zelda BotW, but a LOT of Zelda components are from this game, no doubt. Although I already have this game (deluxe edition), if this gets released on Switch, I WILL buy again. (But please make fonts bigger...)
Kyong Song they do need to make the fonts bigger. Its a mircale i was able to play X on handheld mode. If only XB2 had a better optimisation on heldheld mode
This is mu fav game on the Wii U and one of my fav rpgs period! Its massive and beautiful. Ive spent well over 400 hours in this game. I also love the Wii U period. Not only does it have awesome games but its the best way to play Wii games! Its the only true way to play Wii games though hdmi without cheap converters. If you play a wii game in the awii U and change the resolution to hdmi then use a Mcable it is amazing! Upconverts to HD and the Mcable redraws the puxles and everything becomes smooth without any blur. It make game almost look remastered.
I know exactly what you mean. I spent 1000+ hours on my main account. Especially on the ground trying to defeat Telethia with every weapon and trying to defeat the superbosses with level 30 skells.(But my wii u broke and my data disappeared so i gotta restart LOL)
And let's talk about the jumping physics and how they are super fun to use when trying to get to new places and jump on sloped surfaces, I spent so much time doing that
Thank you for making this video! The simple fact that this game made moving through it fun, like you said, is it's greatest strength. I love just sprinting and jumping through the impossible huge world
Xenoblade Chronicles is, and always will be, the best. Everyone i know that played this game was mind blown about how good this game really is. From the story, too the combat, truly an amazing experience to play this game. And anyone who thinks that xenoblade 2 is good, NO, it's not a good game.
I concur, exploration has never felt so good as it did in X. 1 and 2 rarely had good rewards sprinkled around the world like X did. Opening chests in 2 didn't really net you much that you couldn't get from somewhere else and rarely affected progression in a meaningful way.
I can totally agree with your thoughts on XCX, my love for Xenosaga refuses to let me love another game in the series as much, but I absolutely see why it would be your favorite game in the series
True. It's kinda weird since BotW is basically praised into game heaven, and XCX is seen as a black sheep, but in the end XCX had me hooked about four times as long as BotW did.
XCX is about 3.5 times bigger than BotW and has loads more real content. The enemy variety is vastly superior and sidequests actually build on the world if you pay attention to them.
What I love about your video dude, is this is pretty much my exact same argument for why this game is amazing. Less focus on the cutscenes pushing the narrative and more on the thematic nature of the game. Survival on an alien planet. It's more than the cutscenes. Every thing you do feeds back into the idea pushed in the very first moments of the game. Cracking video game. :D
The problem I have with XC1 is not the story, as that was fantastic, but the gameplay was REALLY bad to me after I played XCX. It was too slow and only the Monado damaged Mechons, which was a huge turn off. The game was WAY too linear and aside from the main storyline, the sidequests didn't feel like they were truly fleshing out the world like in XCX.
The Mia character journey in Xenoblade X, while pretty self contained, is probably one of the most sincere, relatable stories the series has done thus far. Generally, the main story isn't great, and amounts to nothing, but the affinity quests make it worth the price of admission. That's just my honest take.
While I loved Xenoblade 1 and 2, Xenoblade X is my favorite. Games always score points with me when you can create your own character for the story. While Xenoblades 1 and 2 had great stories, I enjoyed X story immensely, and even though people rarely ever mention it (especially the people that just did the main story missions and left it at that), the affinity missions were AMAZING. I loved how so many of the side characters had such awesome stories. NLA always left me with a feeling that I was contributing to something great with just how well designed the side characters were. Normally I'm like 'Ew, another side quest,' but in Xenoblade X I was always interested to see what crazy situations the inhabitants wound up doing, and even better, sometimes the side quest effects the ENTIRE CITY! What games even do that so well nowadays?! I hope one day this gets a sequel.
I agree with all of this. X is really good, I just wish it had an easy mode. I got stuck on one of the later chapters (10, I think?) and never finished it.
the story can be -easily- beaten by simply grinding. the final boss is level 50, you can level up to 60. just find a nest of small-sized enemies above your level and gang up on them with the whole party for easy-AF exp gains.
I vaguely remember having to buckle down and optimize my gear lategame. In summary: stacking up potential and/or a few art tp gain augments murders nearly everything, since the damage from tp abilities scales from potential and overdrive is straight up broken good. Oh yea, and lastly if you absolutely cant stop dying consider using either dual guns (decoy art), psycho launchers (resistance art), or knives (sleep debuffing).
A friend and I were talking about how great this game was. The points you brought up were the exact points we brought up. I still think it has the best combat in the series.
The original Xenoblade is still my favourite but this game comes so close to beating! And I couldn't agree more with everything you said about exploration and that leading into your own story. Awesome awesome game that was perfect on the Wii-U and still looks stunning today. Great video.
Yeah, the exploration in Xenoblade 2 never really lead to anything meaningful or truly felt necessary; the worlds were just large for the sake of being large for the most part; still look pretty, but I didn't have any real sense of adventure in that game.
@@ClockedIt yeah unlike in the first game where it was a long hallway leading you some where or x where there is literally something interesting in every segment, xenoblade 2 just has maps shaped like a circles with the main objective in the middle making you go out of your way to explore pretty much nothing.
Your opening statement about smell / time of day..for me even a the chill or season of the year or amount of sunlight....has reminded me of certain games I played when I was younger.
Summed it up perfectly. I get asked time and time again why I keep coming back to this game, and this is exactly the reason. I never thought that a game would immerse me in it's world so well that I would forget that I was playing a game, but Xenoblade Chronicles X was the first and only game for me that did that. The fact that I can return to planet Mira after 200+ hours of gameplay and know that there is still an incredible amount of things that I haven't seen or done yet is both astounding and humbling for me. Here's hoping for that switch port!
I think no game has ever been so special for me like Xenoblade X was back when I first played it. It is still my 10/10 standar for most games let alone open-world games. No game has ever pulled me into a world I was so eager to explore like this, even after some good damn 700 hours.
Absolutely fantastic video. It really captured a lot of my same sentiments with the game, and it's also my favorite Xenoblade. (Although I've regrettably never finished the original) In fact, it's one of my favorite games of all time!
I agree so much dude, I love this game so much. It helped me get through a rough time in my life and I’m so happy i bought a Wii U to play it. The soundtrack, characters, everything it’s just so good. I think it’s honestly my favorite game of all time
Honestly, I am no longer sure which is my favorite Xenoblade game, but you nailed it! Especially the side quests part of it. When I start a game, I usually enjoy side quests in the beginning, but then somehow fall out of interest and just wanna focus on the main story. But X was different, I felt like the sidequests connected with everything you do in X. To me, the sidequest felt like it was part of the whole picture. And although some may argue it did not have the best narrative, what actually kept me hooked IS the narrative. Each chapter felt like I was watching an anime episode, which then made me more eager to play the next. I can go on and on, but I too just love this game.
I really love your commentary here! Very much on point and quite frankly, I do hope that we see both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Switch, remastered and given the proper treatment and love they deserve, especiall XCX, which is an amazing game, despite it not being considered the strongest in the series, or so critics would argue.
I haven't played any Xenoblade games, but I am getting the first game very soon, and I am excited!!! I haven't played or seen someone do a play through of this game, and already I had loved it. It's no surprise you love it!
The smell thing got me. My sister was sick with a high fever when I first reached Sylvalum, so we had an oil diffuser going with a cinnamon smelling oil. She fell asleep while watching me play, and now anytime I visit Sylvalum, I always think back to that cinnamon smell.
About the thing talked in the beginning, every time I drink green ice tea I'm reminded of my first run of Path of Radiance, bc I was just sipping that stuff through the whole game
Exploration is so much the focus it leaked into the mechanics, there's literal exploration and there's exploration of game mechanics with the combat system. I adore it.
IM TOTALLY WITH YOU i loved the game soo much that i just got mira at 100% and on another user i did the same thing but with another class and i hyped REALLY HARD when they put elma on the sequel
While I do agree with the points you made, a big detractor for this game was how haphazardly the enemies were placed. I recall Phog’s first mission ended by fighting a group of 4 or 5 enemies, but if you did this mission during the daytime a level 50-60 enemy would run right through the area where the mission takes place (the recommended level for the mission is 12 btw). I also remember Boze’s final mission taking place in a lava filled cave, where trying to engage the enemy required to beat the mission causes your party members to just run headfirst into the lava. The only way to beat this mission is to get gear with high electric resistance (since the enemy only has electric attacks) and slowly whittle down his health by yourself. I could list a bunch of other similar scenarios in the game, but the point is that in making the game open-world, they seem to have neglected considering where the missions take place in relation to the enemies in the world, forcing the player to start cheesing the game’s systems in order to even complete the game
Amazing video, mate. Xeno1 is my favorite story of the trio, but Xenoblade X is my favorite game. Xenoblade X incorporates world design and gameplay into its storytelling in a way no game had every done before and I've never seen since. Even the sidequests and multiplayer integration were done so well and just fit. Everything about the game worked in harmony towards the overall experience. I love all the games, but they each do what is best for their themes and ideals. Xenoblade X is a story about what it means to be human and about the point of surviving - and that's not a story that could be done justice in the same format as 1 or 2. And you're absolutely right - I have such fond memories of playing Xenoblade X, sitting by the fire watching the sunrise, chatting with friends regarding theories about Mira or talking about sidequests we'd completed. It has a very personal feeling to it, and I really hope they port it to switch. I really want others to be able to experience the powerful joy I felt when I flew for the first time.
The opening story is basically my dream life. X is such a good game and I really hope they port it to the switch. The ludicrous amounts of content, freedom of the player, soundtrack... make it such a good game I'll cherish for years to come
Pretty wild, huh? Honestly though this is what really got me into the Xeno series. I played the original when I was younger but this one made me actually go and revisit the series and realize that I loved it. I hope this get ported to the Switch just so that people can see how amazing this game is. The fact that this game had next to zero load screens (minus cutscenes and a few places in NLA if I recall) is still mind blowing to me for such a large game.
X isn't my favorite Xeno or Xenoblade game, but X has *absolutely* the best open world and exploration of ANY game on the market. Every time I felt people were gushing about the world of Breath of the Wild, I'd genuinely respond "Xenoblade X did that first, did it better, and did so much more."
What do you mean? The first was on Wii, X was on Wii U, and 2 was originally for switch. Everyone is asking for a port of X, and some are wishing for a remaster of the original. Beats me why they haven't brought them over yet.
Completely agree. X was such a fun and enjoyable game and just getting to new places and finding out what exists was grand all on its own. The music really helped give it that scale further too. It was the kind of game I couldn't get enough of and I wished I could replay story and even normal missions just to have more reason to explore things again. I would love for this game to be ported to the Switch somewhere down the line as I feel it needs more attention and love.
Can't tell you how many times I've played Xenoblade X...I've lost count, but it's a butt tonne. I can get pretty creative with the character customization. I think that's why I've played through it so many times...because in my head, I create these deep backgrounds and personalities for the avatar character and create their appewrance to match. Like this one time, I created a rough around the edges military woman. Gave her the Soldier voice and she wore the Survival Footwear & the camouflage jacket (which is available through Mission Control quests). One of hundreds of character ideas rolling around in the o'l noggin! lol Great video man! Pretty stoked for Torna the Golden Country! Oh and speaking of Xenoblade X...ELMA FOR SMASH ULTIMATE! :D
I love all the Xenoblade games. X is a different type of game from Xenoblade 1 and 2. In terms of exploration and world design, X is definitely my favorite. The world looks and feels huge, and I am in constant awe seeing what it has to offer. Monolith Soft also helped development in Breath of the Wild, so a lot of that design philosophy carried over, and I loved Breath of the Wild too. Monolith Soft has solidified themselves as my favorite developer, and I am so excited for the Xenoblade 2 DLC along with their future projects (Xenoblade X2 and Xenoblade 3!)
This game is the reason my Wii U is still hooked up.
This game is the reason why I bought a Wii U in the first place. And I never regretted it.
Same! I only have a few wii u games. Since i took my sweet ass time with X. I still havent beaten it yet.
If this ever gets ported to Switch, then, yeah, I too will have absolutely no reason to keep my WiiU.
Good thing they said they were porting this to switch.

YES. PEOPLE REALLY DON'T APPRECIATE THIS GAME ENOUGH
I thought the gameplay was nice but the rest of the game is forgettable
Maybe this is just because I love X so much, but I've never forgotten anything about this game
Never played it but i would buy it if they port it to switch. Looks pretty cool tbh.

X2 is in development
I wanted to play this so badly I hope for a port so I can

Why do you prefer X overall?
@Ever Even the OST I felt is better in X. Uncontrollable is the best thing I've ever heard.
first I've heard this one. XC2 is my favorite but X is so under-appreciated and unjustly hated. X was the only game I went back to play on my WiiU that wasn't multiplayer

Xenoblade Chronicles X spoiled me on terms of what video games are capable of accomplishing a
I knooooow, this game was so good to the point that it felt like other games just can't live up to it.
Please bring Xenoblade Chronicles X out for the Nintendo Switch!
I’d rather have the sequel
why not both?
Well, they *did* say that the success of XC2 would determine if they would port XCX to the Switch and I'd say XC2 has been fairly successful... so here's hoping
With NG+ and of course: boobs slider!!!
Xenoblade chronicles remake was a better choice in my opinion. It suffered more because of the console when it came out and now it's complete
Fucking Noctilum day is the best thing I've seen in any game.

"Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" Releasing in 2025. We. Are. So. Back!!!
I like all the Xenoblade games. Good stuff
I'M LOVING THE ATTENTION THIS GAME HAS BEEN GETTING LATELY!!
Hector
Usually the field skills are stuff you can easily get from common blades.
The Puppet Master Hear Hear!
Welp I think I'm going to play X again

X is my favourite too!! but I really like all of them, looking forward Torna the golden country. And hopefully after this expansion, Monolith will have some team working on a port of X to the switch!!
I like how massive that game is! It’s awesome.. Probably my first ever xenoblade game when it gets ported to switch🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
@@Mario123007 So is From Software, and Dark Souls isn't seen as weeb trash.

You can't call a character designer dumb just because you don't like fanservice lol.
This the only open world mech game
There aren't any. And those are exactly the things I miss the most in XC2. The open world and The Skells. Daaaaaaamn how cool would it be to ride Siren and obliterate the shit out of those giant apes...
LegendaryGlasses
The skells will be missed, the run button will be missed, but XC2 still has a lot of open exploration.
I like the animal preying idea
Agreed, the world itself is incredibly engaging but the enemy/xenoform behaviour is a bit flat. The animations and behaviours of the individual species are interestif enough but different species interacting with or fighting against would be awesome to see.
I think taming wildlife is another must. Imagine riding around on one of those purple fox/seal things.
Oh, wait. You did mention that.

I'll raise you.
You are my spirit animal. This game is my favorite of the series, and my favorite RPG of all time.

Thank you, someone actually giving X the appreciation it deserves. Take a look at the art book if you haven't, there're just so many things X got right...it really deserves to get a sequel...
The music in this game ohhhhhh dont even get me started. every track gives me goosebumps just hearing the first 2 seconds
What band is this Mike?"
"It's from Xenoblade X my dude 👌"

I only cry for the music, story though... Nah...
X's story was really sad with the reveal of the truth. It really gave me Attack on Titan vibes.
Yep. This game is an all-time great. I feel like I lived on Mira for 6 months. The world is second to none.
And let's talk about the jumping physics and how they are super fun to use when trying to get to new places and jump on sloped surfaces, I spent so much time doing that
Thank you for making this video! The simple fact that this game made moving through it fun, like you said, is it's greatest strength. I love just sprinting and jumping through the impossible huge world
XCX > other Xenoblade because god-like mobility (sprinting, Skell driving and flight).
Dude don't forget jumping. I spent hours hopping like a bunny in this game. You got leaps that will make Michael Jordan salty.
That's exactly what made the world feel less vast for me. It was a bit too mobile for my preferences.
Don't forget collecting!
I’d go as far to say that xcx is better than botw, I have 300-400+ hrs into the game
Zelda is a bigger IP, but let's be honest, XCX is a better game.
Port this thing on switch!
Which is why they should port the damn thing to switch. I still have not played it yet
What theme is this?
Whats version of the song "the way" is this i kinda prefere thia soundtracks then the original used in the video
The Mia character journey in Xenoblade X, while pretty self contained, is probably one of the most sincere, relatable stories the series has done thus far. Generally, the main story isn't great, and amounts to nothing, but the affinity quests make it worth the price of admission. That's just my honest take.
Your the first dude that says that!
I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
that game is co.pletly underrated
My favorit youtube feature is thumb notifacations-
Which doesent seem to function all the time.
I agree with all of this. X is really good, I just wish it had an easy mode. I got stuck on one of the later chapters (10, I think?) and never finished it.
If it was a boss and if you keep dying a few times the game does give an option to change to an easy mode for that fight.
the story can be -easily- beaten by simply grinding. the final boss is level 50, you can level up to 60. just find a nest of small-sized enemies above your level and gang up on them with the whole party for easy-AF exp gains.
@@OpXarxa I hate grinding though
You can also level up by exploring beautiful landscapes and discovering new areas!
Songs Used? I know so many XCX songs have weird names and I just can't remember.
A friend and I were talking about how great this game was. The points you brought up were the exact points we brought up. I still think it has the best combat in the series.
What armor are you using at 4:49?
The original Xenoblade is still my favourite but this game comes so close to beating! And I couldn't agree more with everything you said about exploration and that leading into your own story. Awesome awesome game that was perfect on the Wii-U and still looks stunning today. Great video.
True out of all the xenogames I would say 2 has the worst exploration
Yeah, the exploration in Xenoblade 2 never really lead to anything meaningful or truly felt necessary; the worlds were just large for the sake of being large for the most part; still look pretty, but I didn't have any real sense of adventure in that game.
@@ClockedIt yeah unlike in the first game where it was a long hallway leading you some where or x where there is literally something interesting in every segment, xenoblade 2 just has maps shaped like a circles with the main objective in the middle making you go out of your way to explore pretty much nothing.
Aye, pretty much that. Still, the world of Xenoblade 2 is good and as a trilogy of games, they each have good points and bad points.
@@ClockedIt agreed xb2 was still my game of the year
Your opening statement about smell / time of day..for me even a the chill or season of the year or amount of sunlight....has reminded me of certain games I played when I was younger.
Been holding off on replaying this for the possibility of a switch port. Will likely do it by next year if we get no announcement.
Anybody know the ost in the background?
I think no game has ever been so special for me like Xenoblade X was back when I first played it. It is still my 10/10 standar for most games let alone open-world games. No game has ever pulled me into a world I was so eager to explore like this, even after some good damn 700 hours.
Absolutely fantastic video. It really captured a lot of my same sentiments with the game, and it's also my favorite Xenoblade. (Although I've regrettably never finished the original) In fact, it's one of my favorite games of all time!
It's my favourite Xenoblade too. I love it so much. Can't wait to play it again on Switch
OMG this man understands everything and explains it as I wish to
Put my thoughts into words far better than I ever could. Bravo!
I had some a lot of fun for some reason when I could walk through moving cars
You beautifully articulated my love for this game....thank you
I haven't played any Xenoblade games, but I am getting the first game very soon, and I am excited!!!
Soul Voices was my favorite mechanic in this game, it really provided something neat to co-operate with your party members in combat.
Great video, the main theme in perfect sync.
Why did they bring the second one to the switch and not the first one considering pretty much no one had a wii u?
One of hundreds of character ideas rolling around in the o'l noggin! lol
Great video man!
