Say what you want about the story and characters, but this game has the best exploration of any open-world game, hands down. I still get shivers from hearing some of this music and watching the landscapes, damn...
It's strange how people praised BotW as if it were Nintendo's first open world game, and they praised it for its size. Honestly, Open Hyrule absolutely _pales_ in comparison to Mira.
I love coming back to this video, it's so strangely satisfying to just sit down and watch and relax with, yet it also hypes me up at the same time. Getting a remaster was the best thing to happen to us.
A big reason why fans of the original game hated this game was because eof it's story. It's not the best, but imo it's still quite good. More importantly they didn't like how many characters there were so they didn't all get developed. They didn't like how there isn't really a main character. But I think they've got it wrong. There is no main CHARACTER per say, the main character is Mira itself. The point of this game isn't with the story, the point is to explore Mira, to learn it's secrets and fight amazing monsters. It's exploration, to learn about Mira that drives you to keep playing the game. They could've made an incredible story of they wanted to, everyone knows that, but they didn't because it would draw your attention away from Mira itself, the most important part of the game
This is an amazing video that sums up why this game is an achievement in my opinion. Xenoblade Chronicles X definitly has issues. From a short and lackluster story (with beautiful cutscenes thought), to incredibly repetitive side quests, this is not a perfect game and far from it. But this is the only game i've ever played left me in awe throughout. Even 100+ hours in and i'm still not tired of looking at this amazing world. I find it incredible how Mira (and the excellent combat system) makes up for all the mistakes of the game and then some. It carried me through 200+ hours of playtime and is a masterclass of video game world. Overall, Xenoblade Chronicle X is a flawed game that should be experience by much more people because Mira makes it unique. But the video you made is worth a thousand reviews. Great job!
Kokusho I never had the chance to experience XC but i watched chuggaconroy's playthrough of it and I can definitly see why people hold it in such a high regard. Personnally, I feel that XCX has a better world and combat system but XC is better in every other aspect (especially the soundtrack which I listen to without even having played the game).
I found XCX to have an excellent story. I think what you mean is the main plot, which is not its strong point, but that's largely because the story of the world is explored in so many other ways. When you take all of the other elements, characters, conflicts, situations, and sub-plots into account, the story of Mira and NLA are among the strongest and most robust of any RPG. Certainly the best story on a Nintendo console, looking back, even Chrono Trigger falls very short.
Seekarr I unfortunenatly have to disagree with you regarding the story (side quest included). I see what you mean when you say that the story is good when you dont take into account the main plot. I can definitly praise this game for its environmental story-telling. Everything feels like it would exist regardless of your precense on Mira. But most of the side quest fall very short. Basic mission are shameless fetch quest ( though i don't fault the game much for it). The normal mission are an interesting case, they range from good to awfull with everything in between. Some of the overarcking quest like definian downfall and the waterpurification plant line of quest are very nice. But most of the others are boring. The setting of the game is also genius for exploring the theme of racism and acceptance but the quest don't stray too far from the basic hate/fear and love/acceptance already cliched by this point. It is interesting for sure, but after the 60th quest hammering you over the head with the same message, it becomes tedious. Some twist on the delivery or the resolution were needed. Finally, the affinity missions are very hit and miss depending on the character and the actual mission. Of course, the preference will be subjective, but they also frequently fall under the same fetche-quest scenario as the others and suffer as a result. After playing the game i originally felt like you, but upon further reflection, I see that the quests (main and side) leave a lot to be desired. If still disagree, i'm happy to hear more of your opinion on the subject and i'm open to having a change of mind.
Oblivia's easily my favorite continent. The rings, the overwhelming openness, and that crazy-good music; I've spent hours just sprinting around, doin nothing but soaking it in. This was incredibly well done though man! I especially loved how you synced the music, there was a ton of polish put into the vid, and I think it really shows. Looking forward to more!
absolutely fell in love with Xenoblade Chronicles X all over again! Watching this going to 2018 and looking forward to your future content! Definitely subbing!
You did an amazing job at describing so accurately why this game is so good. Is definitely an experience that any RPG/JRPG/Adventure fan should not miss.
Dude, I knew what you were doing with the Sylvalum music. You timed it perfectly!!!!! I am gonna forward your video to anyone I think should play this game.
It's nice to see someone do a video on X - a severely underrated and under-played game. I love what I've seen of your channel and hope you pick up many more subscribers in the coming months and don't stop making videos. Thanks!
Beautifully made video. You really captured that feeling, stuff that i felt when i first set foot on each of those continents. This has to be the most underrated game ever. I haven't seen a more beautiful world in any open world game and i have played plenty.
wow. this video has been in my recommended for weeks, glad I finally watched it. So amazingly done, great editing! 230 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles X and I have yet to stop enjoying everything about it. Mira was unbelievably enjoyable to explore! I'm just one cell away from 100% survey (yeah it's THAT guy) and I'm very excited for my 2nd play through happening soon.
hmmm which that guy are you talking about for me "that guy" is that xe - doom in the lake in noctulum though i assume you talking about the guy in the divine roost
Very nice idea to have a short clip of the environments with the 'swell' of their theme playing after the commentary, it does an amazing job of ending each area with a sense of wonder
I only got to experience this Masterpiece starting last year, when I decided to get a WiiU after playing XC2 on the Switch and really enjoying it...but then I saw it. A previous game from the XC Series with a Character Creation System, large open world and in a sci-fi setting. I was sold...and I do not regret getting a WiiU (black, used) and this game for one single second. Your video really captures on what I felt and experienced when I played this game. The vast openness of Primordia. The claustrophobic feeling of Noctilum, but yet being beautiful. Oblivia being a Desert, yet many hidden areas and really nice spots. Slyvalum is just on of the best looking icey places I have ever seen! Cauldros is...intimidating. Everything is deadly. Also: 1337th Like!
holy crap, dude. Snoop was right that this is one of the most inspiring things I've seen in a while! the way I feel right now proves to me more then anything that forming a community of content creators is not just to share each other to grow bigger but to inspire each other to work harder and make us better at what we do. just, fantastic dude. seriously, keep it up.
Wow Rob. Like seriously great analysis. Its crazy how much you've improved between uploads, keep up the hard work! I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles but I mean..I'm gonna have to after watching this.
Thank you so much for this! Your editing was fantastic, I especially liked the blending from explaining to the really epic parts of the continent's themes. This should have way more views, I think you show off Mira's beauty perfectly. I, myself, am still amazed just how gorgeous this game is. Even after 300+ hours of playing, I often catch myself just staring at the environment.
Can we all agree that Oblivia taught us all the value of Shadowrunner and Blood Sacrifice? Getting to the collectibles you need for your Skell exam is pretty much impossible without them.
Just watched this for the first time while being fully absorbed by Xenoblade 2. This video reminded me what a fantastic world X has and 2 lacks. Oh, and props to your editing skills! Not only was it interesting to listen to what you had to say, but the camera changes on the music beats and the panning were satisfyingly on point. A special mention goes to the Sylvalum drop too, haha. Nice video, keep it up!
Amazing video! You perfectly summed up the continents and what they mean to the player. I've always wanted to make a flyby-esque video for each of the continents, but you did it perfectly, with immersive commentary as well. Thanks for this awesome video!
This is ridiculously well made. Not to mention a really interesting way into how the continent design reflects the player's progression through the game.
This is a great video, and you made really good use of clip transitions tuned to the music. It really captures the greatness of the world of Mira, both from an aesthetic standpoint and a gameplay standpoint. Awesome work. I only have two pieces of criticism: 1. This may not be relevant anymore if you've gotten better about this, but I found myself having to turn the volume down whenever you stopped talking and playd music, then having to turn it right back up to hear your voice when you started talking again. 2. I kind of wish you'd touched on some of the caves littered throughout Mira, some of those are pretty interesting, too.
Yup, kinda wish I tuned the audio just a lil bit better, and showed some more areas (maybe even NLA) but I guess that's what comes with post-perfectionism. I'm stoked you enjoyed the video though, thanks for your support and constructive feedback!
Wow, this was extremely well done! Not just the analysis of the continents but the footage and editing matching up with the footage. This pretty much sums up my thoughts and feelings on Mira. Though I think you should've included NLA. It's got it's own special flavor. Out of all of the continents Noctilum is probably my favorite. You're right about how enclosed and dense it is when you first enter but what's really great is how once you get used to that, you emerge into a wide open cove area and can see far out to the waterfalls in the north basically telling you, you haven't even begun to explore Noctilum. They really guide you through an experience there. I've wanted to do something like this video for awhile but since I lack the equipment I could only take screenshots, check them out if you want: imgur.com/a/OWh7B imgur.com/a/LNdMN imgur.com/a/yUVJB imgur.com/a/0v9AJ imgur.com/a/vN5QU
Awesome video dude, this is actually my favorite game of all time and I'm glad to finally have found a video that serves it justice. Your editing with the music of the continents is on point!
VentusBrawlerIV It's definitely in my top 10. I still remember the giddiness of playing it for the first time. Also, I recently made another video on Xenoblade X you might like, maybe ;)
having just finally recently beat this game, i acknowledge that it is completely underrated. this game hit beats that most great rpgs(let alone games in general) cannot or have not hit in the game industry. i did not believe it at first, but the magic is there, it just takes some effort on the part of the player to find. also great video! i may have just beat the game but i'm already nostalgic for the world of Mira again xD
Fantastic video, thanks for making it. When you got to Sylvalum, I almost felt tears welling up in my eyes. XBX is such a beautiful game, and while it has some flaws it's my favorite game of the past 10 years at least just because of how entranced I was with exploring the world of Mira.
Hey man. Just wanted to thank you for making this video. It reminded me why I loved this game so much (though it's hard to get back into now). It truly was the world. One thing that I loved is how the indigens actually acted like creatures so many times in their own unique way. Some would be feeding, some might be relaxing by a lake, while others would be drinking from that very same lake. The unique behaviors of the indigens gave an authenticity to the world that I've never seen before in any other open-world game.
That, my good sir, has earned you another sub!! Great video!! I have always maintained that this game is perfect from a worldbuilding standpoint, but I never looked at it this way. Really good job!
This is the most beautiful, eloquent tribute I've ever seen to the fantastic, diverse, GORGEOUS world of Xenoblade Chronicles X. It perfectly articulates what made me love this game even more than the original Xenoblade. XCX's world has set such a high standard to open world games, and I honestly think it will be a while before any other game comes close to giving me the same experience of awe and wonder that exploring Noctilum and Sylvalum for the first time gave to me.
I found your channel on vidme. How do you not have hundreds of thousands of subscribers? This video is very well made with not only a good script, but good visual angles and a pretty decent microphone. keep up the good work. You just gained a new subscriber
Damn, great video. I kinda feel like going into a little more depth on the way the continents are unique from each other, and the geography of each. (In particular how the northern and southern parts of Noctilum are quite different while feeling like they totally fit together.
I absolutely love this game, every single part of it, and it's great to see how well Xenoblade X is represented in this video. Content was well thought out and delivered eloquently, and the video was very polished - it looked good and you can tell that a lot of love went into making this. I hope that you keep doing things like this, you definitely earned a subscriber from me. Looking forward to watching some more of your content!
Few games are able to mesmerize the player like this one. This is one example of the rare instances in which the developers love AND know what they're doing. Yes, it is definitely not for everyone, but if you like this kind of game, there's really nothing quite like it. The feeling of exploration, the sheer amount of content, the world itself... everything is just spectacular. And for those who say the story is weak, keep two things in mind: 1 - It was never meant to be the focus, and as a result there was less room for mistakes, so it didn't fall into some common RPG traps (such as cliches, exaggerations, etc.) and 2 - It only tells a small part of the story, which will supposedly be further explored in the future (this is something the game made VERY clear). I'm not saying the game doesn't have its flaws, but overall this isn't just your everyday videogame, guys. This is an experience, an event.
I liked the variety they created for the environments in X, but I do wish they hadn't revealed every continent before the initial release. Don't get me wrong; the game was huge and every continent had some truly amazing things to discover, but if they had maybe one secret end-game area (preferably something that had large chunks of the White Whale embedded into the landscape itself to reinforce the scale of THAT monstrosity) I think it would've done just that bit more to create another surge of interest following release...
It kinda makes me sad so many people missed out on this gem and now after XBC2 it's frowned upon because of several mishaps regarding its story, characters, music and some sidequest stuff, but for me, XBC2 is the real black sheep of the franchise. A switch port would make me put in some other 600 hrs into it for sure.
While this game certainly got me hooked throughout, a sudden red aurora night at Sylvallum made this game a top 10 despite it's flaws. No game so far has ever had me put the controller away for an hour just to enjoy the scenery, yet this game got me doing just that at that moment. The beautiful clash of colours, the otherworldy design, the great open distance, the calm orchestral music... Absolutely breathtaking...
So, I just found your channel through this video and proceeded to watch several others... and I have to know why your channel has so few subscribers. That's not to say 600-700 people is a small number, but when comparing this channel to others like it it seems like an insignificant amount. Despite this, your videos are extremely well made and honestly took me by surprise with the amount of work seemingly put into your synopses. Basically, I am saying that I earnestly hope you gain more recognition. You certainly have my attention.
GlaciesFighter Thanks so much! That really means a lot considering how much time goes into these. If you wanna help out, you can share my stuff with peeps, but eitherway thanks for the support!
I fully believe an amount of that wonder comes from the soundtrack. A game without a good soundtrack is a boring game. Music complements environment, and the music in XCX does that so well. And it feels so full of life with all the different enemies. Since there's no level scaling, and there's a mixture of every difficulty in every place, you have to be extremely careful with travel, effectively making it a stealth game from time to time. The world is beautiful, but it's also dangerous and threatening, and that's part of the beauty. When you get your Skell, you can finally view the beauty from higher locations, even more so with the flight module. It's absolutely never boring to travel through Mira. The scope makes you feel so small, and the dangerous and powerful indigens make you feel so vulnerable. It's absolutely amazing. This game will go down as a modern classic.
PrimeHylian you are most welcome. Having played the game for 180 hours (still not.done) and having played it with friends (who i showed this video to) we can agree with everything you said. Especially about sylvalum and culdros. Exploration on mira is the core of the game and even with my play time there are simply places i still can not and will not go to in fear of instant death
Noctilum is easily my favourite region in this game...It features in my opinion the most variety out of all of them, as it has the bioluminescent jungles, to the twisting trees that fall over the vast waterfalls, the unique vegetation of Qing Long Glade, the divine roost which is home to the strongest enemy in the game just hovering over head, to the desolate and wasted Dead Man's gulch... Heck you can even traverse on top of the jungle's canopies where Nopon's have built rope bridges to avoid the threats beneath... Not saying I dislike the other regions but I just love Noctilum's environments...
We're back baby
Let's gooo, Mira will be even more beautiful than ever now!
Say what you want about the story and characters, but this game has the best exploration of any open-world game, hands down. I still get shivers from hearing some of this music and watching the landscapes, damn...
I even liked the story and characters. Not to the degree of the original XC but they were enjoyable enough.
I enjoyed the story too. I actually thought it had more potential than XC and XC2... But that ending. My goodness... What garbage.
@@Kbtoy789 hoping for a sequel lol.
It's strange how people praised BotW as if it were Nintendo's first open world game, and they praised it for its size. Honestly, Open Hyrule absolutely _pales_ in comparison to Mira.
@paula They're a first party studio, they're pretty much a _branch_ of Nintendo.
I couldn't agree more
WE ARE SO BACK. REMASTER HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!
We're so back
This is one of my favorite games ever made, and it's so great to hear someone else approach it with such enthusiasm.
WEVE NEVER BEEN SO BACK. IVE HAD THIS IN MY FAVORITES SINCE THE WII U DAYS
I love coming back to this video, it's so strangely satisfying to just sit down and watch and relax with, yet it also hypes me up at the same time. Getting a remaster was the best thing to happen to us.
It almost felt like I was watching a documentary on Mira and not a gameplay video at all!! Great work indeed!!!!

100% agree. The game's far from perfect but what it does well really makes up for it's flaws.
exactly my feeling.
XCX is not XC, but Mira is beyond everything we've seen so far.

You made me cry. I miss this game so much.
It´s time of another run...
We. Are. BACK!!
This is my favorite video on the game. Now I'm wondering if I should play it again from the beginning or just play around more with my end-game setup.
When I first walked into Sylvalum, I fell in love with it instantly. And Sylvalum's music at night gives me chills every time I hear it
Same
I knew of this game but never saw it in action before this. Your editing here really shows off how bloody nice looking this game is! Nice job :)
I'm watching this video again on Tuesday for no particular reason 👏😭❤

Hell yeah, Oblivia is the stuff. Deserts are often kinda bland in games, but Oblivia stands on its own really well. Really glad you enjoyed it!
this video made me fall in love with the game all over again
Time stamp to each area's montage
Primordia 3:56
Noctilum 5:36
Oblivia 7:49
Sylvalum 10:29
Cauldros 13:29
I approve of this 👌
absolutely fell in love with Xenoblade Chronicles X all over again! Watching this going to 2018 and looking forward to your future content!
Definitely subbing!

Glad you think so :)
Sums up why I love this game so damn much. Bravo.
I love the way you've done this, captures the game perfectly!
HOW THE FUCK IS THIS A WIIU GAME . It looks so incredible i can't beleive it.
It is so good to have a look at these locations one more time !!!
Wow awesome video!

Don't mind me, just re-watching one of my favorite videos regarding one of my favorite games :)
Wow Rob. Like seriously great analysis. Its crazy how much you've improved between uploads, keep up the hard work! I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles but I mean..I'm gonna have to after watching this.

Dude, such a fantastic work, you even match the scenes and commentaries with the music. Well done!!!
thank you for linking this video
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it
This was 4 years ago, and still brilliant
It's now been 8 years and it is still brilliant. So glad it is getting a remaster

They really guide you through an experience there.
I've wanted to do something like this video for awhile but since I lack the equipment I could only take screenshots, check them out if you want:

When Monolith promises, it delivers.
Hey thanks so much.
Wow this vid is awesome. This guy must have lots of-
I like how you weaved the continents' themes and their drops into the video.
831 subs now boi
That, my good sir, has earned you another sub!! Great video!! I have always maintained that this game is perfect from a worldbuilding standpoint, but I never looked at it this way. Really good job!
I am really glad you Xenomade this Xenoblade Within the Game, but who could blame me because is a rly gud video gud job Rob.
thnks bby
This is the most beautiful, eloquent tribute I've ever seen to the fantastic, diverse, GORGEOUS world of Xenoblade Chronicles X. It perfectly articulates what made me love this game even more than the original Xenoblade. XCX's world has set such a high standard to open world games, and I honestly think it will be a while before any other game comes close to giving me the same experience of awe and wonder that exploring Noctilum and Sylvalum for the first time gave to me.
I love this game so much.
I found your channel on vidme. How do you not have hundreds of thousands of subscribers?
This video is very well made with not only a good script, but good visual angles and a pretty decent microphone.
keep up the good work. You just gained a new subscriber
i am not the letter E Thanks a heap, that means a lot to me.
PrimeHylian you are welcome
Great writing and editing!
You really deserve more subscribers.
Nice video dude!
Thanks!
Damn guy! Great video! :D Best of luck to you and your channel sir! :)
Thanks guy! Really appreciate that :)
I could look at the scenery in this game all day.
Thank you for making this video man, XCX is beautiful.
I liked the variety they created for the environments in X, but I do wish they hadn't revealed every continent before the initial release. Don't get me wrong; the game was huge and every continent had some truly amazing things to discover, but if they had maybe one secret end-game area (preferably something that had large chunks of the White Whale embedded into the landscape itself to reinforce the scale of THAT monstrosity) I think it would've done just that bit more to create another surge of interest following release...
ooohhh that would have been amazing. Thats actually a really neet idea, oh well.
Glad you liked the video!
Rodin Claus gotta love modern day spoiler filled advertising
It kinda makes me sad so many people missed out on this gem and now after XBC2 it's frowned upon because of several mishaps regarding its story, characters, music and some sidequest stuff, but for me, XBC2 is the real black sheep of the franchise. A switch port would make me put in some other 600 hrs into it for sure.
Fantastic video. Hoping for a Switch remaster!
Same here! It'll be an instant buy for me
Amazing video! You've instantly earned my sub!
Wow this is a good video. I feel like playing the game!
450+ hours in and still am missing some hidden areas
This video was amazing! Nostalgia overload!
MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME
So, I just found your channel through this video and proceeded to watch several others... and I have to know why your channel has so few subscribers.
A really awesome video!
lan Spencer Thank youu!!!
Random fact: toothpaste can clean scratches off of discs
Smasherfan88 woah thanks
Great video. Keep up the good work.
Hot Damn this was great! seriously that was an amazing video.
Thanks man!
Oblivia always fascinated me with it’s strange metal rings and pipes littering the landscape
Greatest game on wii u. Greatest game ive ever played (prob'ly ever will play).
AMAZING VIDEO!
I always loved this game and I still play it!
You sir, have outdone yourself once again
:^)
I love finding a new cave that I haven't seen before, just beat the game and still want to explore
Absolute masterpiece.
