The China IS his ride......as Lars said in print interviews. He finds it boring and doesn’t like how they feel. People like to give him shit. Well he’s selling a shit load more records than you are. Playing a lot more shows than you are. I really don’t think he cares what anybody thinks. It’s his kit and he’ll do what he wants. The best drummers tend to look like that-like they handle the sticks with ease. It's necessary from what I learned-I'm a guitar player but my drummer taught me that metal drummers often use the physical dynamics of the kit itself when it comes to playing fast. A super-tight grip wouldn't help there-gotta keep things relatively loose so the bounceback from striking the drum heads can do its thing naturally, if that makes sense.

Still think Gene Hoglan is the best example of a drummer who can do thrash and metal and its always instantly noticeable when its him playing. Also thrash was pretty much replaced by power metal, which adopted the vocals of hair metal lol. Keeping two dead genres alive.

Dave Lombardo is the most distinctive drummer in thrash metal, not Gene. You can always tell Dave by his unusual rolls and fills and 16th and 32nd notes on the ride, as well as from his double bass playing, of course. But it's actually the first two things that really give him his signature style. Lars also has a unique and recognizable style. He may not have the technical skills and chops of Benante, Lombardo, Hoglan, etc, but he comes up with some really cool and interesting beats and fills - For Whom The Bell Tolls is a perfect example of this.

I'm at work and I had to stop myself from getting up and galloping around the soul crushing cubicle hell. Charlie will forever be my guy. I'm a guitarist - not a drummer - but he is MY king of the "Big 3's" drummers. He can really build and release tension all on his own...add in the other instruments and you have magic.

Okay....I'm in Facebook Jail rn but I've got to talk to someone bout this shit ....So I assume everyone has heard of the Pantera Reunion tour ..Well the only 2 left are Phil (vocals) and Rex (bass) but Zakk Wylde (Black label Society) is gonna stand in for Dimebag (Well duh) but Benante (Anthrax) will stand in for Vinnie Paul.... what's everyones opinion on this...I'll go 1st Charlie has what it takes to duplicate Vinnie (but with his own twist) and I'm very very interested in how this shit plays out

    I’m The Man
Now we're Anthrax and we take no shit
And we don't care for writing hits
The sound you hear is what we like
I'll steal your pop-tarts like I stole your
    Socks!
No man, what's the matter with you?
I'll get it the next time, I mean it
Charlie, beat the beats, the beats you beat
The only thing harder's the smell of my feet
So listen up 'cause you might get dissed
Go drain the lizard or take a
    Chair!
    Damn, watch the beat!
I'm on your case, I'm in your face
Kick you and your father back in place
    Step up sucker, understand
    Don't you know,
I'm the man! I'm the man!
I'm so bad I should be in detention!
    I'm the man!
    Shut up!
We've got real def rhythms and fresh new jams
And ya think we got egos but we're just hams
Scott plays stick ball and likes to skate
Frank is never on time he's always
    Sleeping!
    "Late!"
Drink the drinks, the drinks they drank
I put my money in the bank
They cut their crack, they offer joints
We don't do drugs, do you get our
    Meaning!
    "Point!" "Point!" Watch the beat!
I'm on your case, I'm in your face
Kick you and your father back in place
    Step up sucker, understand
    Don't you know,
I'm the man! I'm the man!
I'm bad! I'm so bad I should be in detention!
    I'm the man!
    Shut up!
For a heavy metal band raps a different way
We like to different and not cliche
They say rap and metal can never mix
Well all of them can suck our
Sexual organ in the lower abdominal area!
    No man, it's "dicks!"
    Master!
Fart the farts, the farts he farted
I pick my nose 'cause I'm retarded
Like El Duce says "smell my anal vapor"
And wipe my butt with your
    Face!
"Toilet paper!" Yo, watch the beat!
I'm on your case, I'm in your face
Kick you and your father back in place
    Step up sucker, understand
    Don't you know,
I'm the man! I'm the man!
I'm bad! I'm so bad I should be in detention!
    I'm the man!
    Shut up!
So, as this rap is winding down
It's plain to see we wear the crown
You know Anthrax is number one
But we don't care, we just want to have
    A festival!
    "Fun" you stupid idiot!
We are the kings that all shout hell
We're like a diamond that is forever
And will remain the hardest ever
    I'm so bad, it's a crime

Why compare Limbardo to Lars or Benante? They play different styles to Thrash. Slayer has always been fast, dark in lyrics and pure speed. Lombardo started like this. Metallica and Anthrax never adopted that style. So why compare? Dave is killer on speed/thrash, Anthrax and the other two are heavy/thrash. Big fuckin difference.
