Great drummer and very underrated drummer. Thx Charlie for decades of inspiration. 🤘🥁
How Lars gets more Recognition than Charlie is a crime!
probably nobody will believe it, but i threw that flag of Brazil (the one behind Charlie) on the stage when Anthrax played in my city in 2004 (2005?) - there's was "not" written in orange...
Cool man
The beauty of anthrax is the fact that all these guys are still crushing this music after nearly 40 years....
I noticed that there's not an obese guy in the band after all these years... So un-American!!
It's the babies blood that keeps them young.
I'm still listening after nearly 40yrs!😎💕
Hands down one of the best drummers from the metal genre, technical, fast and precise. unbelievable watching Charlie play especially SOD covering Reign in Blood, Anthrax doing Gung ho. Manic and fucking perfect
Charlie beat the beat, the beats you beat!
Foot smell! I bet they were ripe at times!
Gung-ho is probably one of the most brutal anthrax songs it’s my favorite hands down
Man I can only imagine the leg cramps after. That song is badass still . True thrash
FUck.... my legs cramped up watching this
You have to be relaxed part of the Reason we Swivel
You shouldn't be straining anything. It is really all about controlling your fast muscle twitches and relaxing. Easier said than done though.
Boy, if Charlie could do a breakdown of how to play BELLY OF THE BEAST I'd be stoked. I just love that song for whatever reason.
Probably because it's a great song, right? I've always loved that one.
loved all the guest musicians but we need more full Anthrax songs like this!!
Amazing song definitely. I'm remember my VHS live at Hammersmith Odeon England 1987. Remember your drums technician Joe Tempesta in this time. Your the Best friend.
Joey singing next too his backyard fence. Now thats Metal. Thanks for the time trip. My absolute favorite era of Anthrax.
Man, after the solo, right before the final verse, made me want to stand up and throw my dinner plate at the wall and mosh it up in my kitchen!!!!! Anthrax is AGELESS!!!! 🤘🏻😈🤘🏻
This is such a killer tune, Back in the 80's this is 1 of the main tune's we'd mosh to in our front yards, Gung Ho, Hell Awaits, Among The Living, Angel Of Death, Darkness Descends, Power Surge! You get the idea, Anthrax was a staple to our music back then and still is NOW! Killer band thru and thru!
Power surge. Fuck yeah. I'm 51 so glad I saw the birth of metal....been listening since 1977....
@@tttarms1970 Yeah my dude , Thrash metal was a fucking tidal wave of a revolution back then and this tune is part of that history . Born in 69 myself i was 14 when all that happened .Awesome days
It amazes me how we used to play those old cheap pedals, the modern bass drum pedals are so advanced and makes playing double bass so much easier.
Been a Anthrax fan since Fistful of Metal... Still on board today.... Anthrax has been a huge influence on my playing and still remain. All eras... 🤘🤘
Thumbed up for Charlie finally shaving that moustache.
Whenever im asked by kids what thrash metal is ? I tell them to listen to Anthrax's Gung Ho from Spreading the disease . Timeless classic
Thank you Anthrax! It’s like the one drug that never gets old or destroys someone. It only stays just as good as ever. No way could that exist but it does. Food for the soul. Rock on you guys. Seriously!
And that the time double bass drum wasn't much of a dominant feature as it became in the late 80s/early 90s. Charlie outdid almost everyone back then. Good work! Thanks for the great music!
The best drummer of Big 4, always very underrated
Uh..that would be Gar Samuelson..he was a jazz drummer in the 70's with Chris Poland way before any of the Big 4 existed. That's why the first 2 Megadeth albums had that groove to it.Drugs ruined his career though. The worst drummer obviously is Lars..hahahaha. Charlie and Dave is a toss up.
Definitely! Charlie and Lombardo played the tasty bits.
I love Dave Lombardo and Charlie Benantte, and it's nearly impossible to pick a favourite out of the two, for me Dave Lombardo was and still is the slightly faster of the two, but it's Dave's fills that are just next level, the fact that he's left handed but plays a right handed set up allows the fills to sound so different to everyone else.
Tom Hunting > Big 4 drummers
@@silverblack5475 Tom Hunting and Gene Hoglan 🤘
WoW glad to hear these old classic songs with all Anthrax boys 🤘😎
Loved the part about charlie breaking his pedal. Song was too metal that it couldn't hold up. Thanks for playing gung ho.
Huge fan of Anthrax and Charlie,
One of the best drummers and so underrated by many.
.
Absolutely agree Metal EZ 👍⭐👍
I love this album. It's the one that had the biggest impact on me. Very underrated album.
Blew among away....
One of my favourite drummers of all time 🙏🏼👊🏼
Still love their music today when I grew up to it in the '80s my favorite album was attack of the killer bees.
Such a great guy. The backbone of his band, too.
That was fucking insane. Love to see more of this. Anthrax. Best of the Big 4. Charlie you rock brother. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I'm way behind on Charlie's vids but man.....I can't stop smiling watching this. Just does my heart good!!!! Thank you!!!
It was the year 88, I was a kid and we had a huge stereo system with a timer and auto play. My mom asked me to put an alarm on 😮so we can wake up at 5 and travel for our summer holidays. I put Gungo-Ho ready on the tape and set the alarm. I never saw my mom stand up soo quick, run to the living room and switch the stereo off! I think she Never ran as fast. When I checked the tape‘s counter, it ran just for 7 seconds!!! I don‘t know what happened to the neighbours that morning 😅
I cant find words to express how this track made me feel when I was 15 back in the 80s, just brilliant!
One of my favorite Anthrax songs ever! Thanks, guys!
You, Lombardo, Bostaph and Tom Hunting are the best thrash drummers of metal history! Hugs from Brazil!
True but charlie is also Awesome
@@MetalHeart8787 I wrote 'YOU' to Charlie! He's fuckin' GREAT! Read one more time!
@@8Megaton OH OK.
I like bostaph
Among the Living was the first Anthrax tour I've seen. Fun night.
You are such an amazing drummer!!!! Thank you for the inspiration!
You are a beautiful soul...simply amazing, out of this world, richly and finely tuned powerful compositions, arrangements and your talents, phew.
Anthrax is one of the most creative bands in all of metal, ever
Charlie might be the most underrated drummer in history. He blows away the other drummers in the Big 4, including Lombardo.
In my opinion Lombardo is overrated
I think it goes
1.Charlie
2.Lars
3.Dave Lombardo
4.Dirk Verbeuren
@@yeetfeet1878 LARS above Dave??? what? Lars can't even keep a steady tempo.
And you forgot Tom Hunting.
@@blppt Lars can keep a steady tempo. And have you seen when Dave Lombardo filled in for Lars? His timing was everywhere. To be honest there is no best drummer because they all have there own style.
@@yeetfeet1878 He had to learn those two songs for the FIRST TIME two hours before the show, because nobody knew Lars wasn't going to play. Secondly, he messed up on Battery because he was playing the right tempo for the song, and Metallica tend to play it slightly slower live. And add that stupid "Are you alive?" crowd pumping segment in the middle of the song.
Joey Jordison, OTOH, grew up covering Metallica and has probably played all of those songs a thousand times.
Killer super speed on that song, it’s badass extreme! This song definitely set the bar and tempo super high for drummers to follow
Thank you, Charlie !!!
You are the first reason for me to choose playing drums.
Thank you for all the musical inspiration throughout the years !!!
Playing gung ho and haunting the chapel early in the morning is the perfect workout for the double bass drummer. At least i try to...
Love it!! Great video song, Band! Always a joy to listen to and watch live!
One of my biggest inspirations! Hey Charlie!
Astounding! This flower power girl rounding the corner of ... aged to perfection learns something new, gains a new appreciation for this genre and the incredible musicianship of Charlie and all the players. Good ear shot of energy in the morning! Thank you!
You may not know it yet, but now you're hooked: Enjoy the journey. Message me for some recommendations anytime. : )
One of my favorite Anthrax songs! Thanks for the breakdown, Charlie! Cheers.
I met Anthrax a few years ago, they n tour with Testament, Charlie and Frank were the coolest.
Love it. More please. You guys are the best.
Charlie was the best thrash drummer of the 80,s. I learnt so much off Charlie,
Lombardo
Keeping up with Charlie on this song is impossible for us mortals. I'll just stick to playing air guitar with Scott and hold on for dear life.
This is awesomly, brutally awesomely!
Love hearing all this! non stop dedication, very inspiring :)

Saw you guys at the Santander/ Reading Pennsylvania show!!! Awesomeness!!! 😎 👍
Love it...
20-Years ago, at Thrash Of The Titans in S.F. I had the privilege of standing directly behind the Drum Riser, seeing Charlie straight Up WRECK that set for Both Anthrax and S.O.D. (pretty sure it was back2back sets) I could not believe wtf I was watching! I remember looking around, seeing some of the sickest drummers, watching him, and there jaws along with mine, to the Floor! So many know just how good he is, BUT, so many have not a clue, he is definitely in the Top 5, (if not 3) in Thrash/Metal, EVER!FO SHO! #CHARLiEdontCHEAT!
The best drummer! Awesome.
One of the best thrash songs ever
Damn, thats freaking awesome
It ain't easy that's for sure ❤❤ Charlie
Good to watch Charlie explain how he managed to keep up with the speed when struggling live. It reminded me that he is actually human lol.
