Inspiring video and project, thank you! Aloft Hobbies still sell GWS Slow Sticks FYI. I've flown a Pico Stick. I took it with me on a deployment back in the early 2000's and flew it on my days off at Al Udeid AB in Qatar.
That is a fantastic build. I really like it. Doesn't hurt that I'm a slow stick fan from way back. Also, that looks like a really great place to fly. You have one helluva runway!
What an awesome SLow Stick Build, sir. This reminds me of the Old GWS Slow Stick that I still have. I have 3 of them brand new in the box still. Including the Corsair, P40, and P51. Your slow stick is much nicer than the GWS Slow Stick. You did an excellent job. It flies really well, too!
Love this! I have a bunch of Lidl gliders on the shelf so using one of those wings and making a fuselage out of 2 carbon arrow shafts to make a slow flyer is a great idea!
The wing is 5mm foam board with a slightly thicker paper. It is very ridged. There is a 3mm carbon rod on the leading edge and trailing edge of the wing.
www.printables.com/model/759660-slow-stick-fpv-plane-with-carbon-fiber-arrow-shaft. All the parts including the landing gear are listed on printables. It just makes it easier to list it all in one place.
this is 10x better than the Flite Test version. I just bough a boatload of black sealing tape because I can't find any white DTFB, just black, but the clear tape actually looks better on the black foamboard than the black tape
Hey thanks! Yeah I was not impressed with the light test version or the horizon hobby one. I plan to get a lot of flights on this and I will post some more videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@alexherrera3918 Yeah, I have made them from standard foam board as well as the foam board you can get from Flite Test. Check one of my more recent videos, I show how to make the wing.
Hi, Nice design. I got the files from printables, but the DXF measurements do not match the A4 PDF measurements. Can you share some dimensions so I can see what it's supposed to be. Like wingspan and stabilizer span.
3D printing is a fun hobby. Especially when it supports other hobbies like RC planes. There is a huge range of printers out there, any of which will print these parts.
Thanks for the support. My buddy that has the foam cut files is out of the country for a couple of weeks. Very sorry, I will share them as soon as I can.
I have today bought the STL files and have already started to print. I cannot find though instructions for the wing .Do you intent to publish these instructions ?
@@Qromer okay thanks. i nearly have all the plastics printed out. then i will do the wings, nervous to make them because i never have used filmboard before i might try using beer boxes... btw have you built one using a smaller prop? i have several 5 inch props from drones ive made, with 6s motors. but im not sure if i should try one or just go for the big blade like you did.
@@augustshades the larger prop you swing with a low KV and high torque motor is what you want with the slow stick. The 5 inch props and high KV motors are good for zippy planes but not for a Slow Stick. I hope your build went well.
Yep, though it never seems to bother me. I just hit the Mute button when I hear the Muzak! Folks who aren't smart enough to limit the extraneous noise on their videos only rarely have anything interesting to add anyhow! 😉😊
Don't watch it then. You entitled man-child. The video is not for you and it's not all about you. It's better than listening to a motor buzzing. It's not like he is revving ab ICE.
good work. BUT, i would have FIXED the defects in the design. among other things, the vert-stab design Sucks. this model 'looks' like a slow-flyer, but it is fat/heavy. so, the use of a SF prop is Not recommended. it appears that the stabs should be about two inches farther from the wing. a tail wheel goes at the Tail. the height of a tail wheel strut should not interfere the tail's ability to move downwards.! you may know the following: an aircraft's center of mass (c-m) is Supposed to be located On the thrust line, at a point that vertically aligns with twenty-five percent of chord; as indicated in linked illustration. the distribution of mass (dom) of an aircraft can be visualized as a horizontally oriented 'teardrop' shape; one that is 'centered on' the described point. happily, you have correctly located the cg; near thirty percent of chord. there remains, however, significant tail-heaviness in the model's dom; because of the excess mass in the dual carbon tail booms and the location of servos/mass aft of the cg/c-m. the use of CF in a tail boom is Not recommended. in part, this is so because the dom of a CF component Cannot be Optimized. d googletranslate center of mass s3.amazonaws.com/assets.flitetest.com/article_images/medium/truecg-jpg_1384168691.jpg

Also, may planes have a mid-rear steerable wheel. It does not have to be on the tail.
Don't listen to the criticism. What have they done? Nothing! Great job. I'm an old Slow Stick enthusiast.
My wife gave me permission to say "old guys rule" and now Dave, I pass that on to you. Thanks for sharing. Jim
Not sure how to take that. 😄
I love the new design for the wings and the black wings look fantastic!
Great job! And the weather just makes it memorable.
Yes indeed! It was fun.
Love the video. Cant wait for a sunny day flight!

Awesome!! That thing flys great!!!

Always good to fly doesn't matter the weather👍
I agree 👍
Plane looks great. I doubt I could build this. Looks like it has quite a few printed parts. Very nice flight.
I bet you can build it!
Nice Plane and great flying !
Thanks a lot!
Nice build. Just put some stabalization on my slow stick. It is much better. Assume you are running INAV?
No, I am using QLiteOSD just for OSD. No flight controller.
Perfect day, nice model you got
Thank you very much! I can't wait to get more flights in.
Received OK ! Many thanks .
Wow! Very interested in what you have achieved. I still fly an FPV Slow Stick with Kopilot lite flight controller. Please find a way to kit this.
