Hey Stu! I got in to FPV back in 2016ish after you posted your first build a $100 racing quad video. Now, I am still practicing this hobby and it's been almost 8 years! Thank you for bringing much happiness to my life because of this hobby. Btw, is Trevor still around? Best regards from America!
Very similar to what I recently did. Happymodel X12, Bassline frame, RCinPower 1002 14000kv motors, and 2S 525mAh packs. With the Foxeer Toothless 2 Nano, it comes to 38g (68g with batt) and ended up as my favorite.
I still have the diatone 349 rabbit 3inch drone.. my favourite 3 inch drone👍 and the furibee X215 is an excellent 5 inch and holybro Kopis 1😀 what were your stand out quads guys and gals??
Your review video's are the best. Great to see them back on a regular basis. A couple of years ago your channel combined with Bardwells got me into FPV. Looks like a really fun little quad. Two years ago I build a Iflight Turbobee 120 and these little quads are really great to fly
@@UAVfuturesI have been building too much drones, almost find building them more fun than flying 😅. Currently I have: Iflight iX5, XL5 and Turbobee 120, Armattan Bumper, Gecko and Chameleon Ti, AOS 7, and the really great and fun to fly Slammed Shendrones Squirt and Geyser. As I said, too much. Now waiting for next spring in the Netherlands. Greetings Harald.
Stew, I started watching your videos when you reviewed the eachine wizard and just stumbled across the bookmark in my browser. Great to see that you're still making videos my dude.
That reminds me a lot of the TKS Rocket Race. I built one last summer - it is a gas. Super fast and long flights. 2s 2inch is a lot of fun, I'd highly recommend trying a quad like this.
Do you think it's appropriate for beginners? I have a flysky i6x transmitter and I'm not planning to buy a new transmitter at all, I suppose it's not compatible? Thanks. P.s.: I've got 2s and 3s batteries around 2000mAh, can any type of FPV drone use these batteries?
Super fun micro quad, I bought it and am enjoying it, using dogcom 2s battery, getting 9min+, thanks for this video as it inspired me to buy it and I am glad I did, Not dissapointed, I also use a rubber band to be able to use the dogcom (560mah i think) battery, which is the best battery for this quad imo.
I got into FPV back around 2014. I gave it up partly due to cost (sinking money into my quad and other equipment, I also had a bunch of gear stolen) and because whenever I tried going anywhere with my 5" quad (300g) it was really tough to do any flying. Where I live it's highly urban and there are always tons of people, and the wild areas are heavily wooded to the point that only trails are flyable. There are parks, but they're small and usually full of people. In the city, 5" is just too much. Too big, too heavy, too fast, too dangerous. I've gotten back into flying again, just on simulator for now with my old Taranis x9D+, and am now considering a microquad. I can see zipping around the parks and playgrounds with something this small even if there are kids and pets nearby. I might rework my 5" at some point, as it still looks rad, but for now it's going to stay retired. FPV tech has certainly come a long way in 10 years. This little quad is going on my list of potential additions to my new fleet.
Identical story here. like Identical. Looking for an ELRS module for my taranis x9D+. So hard to tell if it will work from googling. Anyone had any success with it?
@@bitshuffler I have some things on the way to get me back in the game. I'm getting the Meteor75 quad with ELRS and Walksnail HD camera. I bought the ELRS module for my Taranis. Got the Walksnail Avatar X Goggles (I love the way they make you look like a robot). Nothing has come in quite yet but I'm expecting a package today. Once I have it all working I will update..... IF I get it all working. I'm going to keep using my Taranis. It works for me, it should be able to do what I need, and I use it every day for sims. If the gimbals start to go though, I might have to consider dropping $300 or whatever on one of those nice Radiomasters.... Gawd this hobby is so expensive. LoL I had to spent $300 on dental work yesterday.... :sigh: This is the main reason I stopped doing FPV for 10 years. Couldn't shake the BUG tho!
Killer quad and a killer review! Fun to watch, authenticity, honesty, attention to details, knowledge. Winner stuff. -Edit: Also, it was you who got me into FPV, so thanks for the hobby 👍
Link has been directed to new version lightning2. I think they should just forget the box antenna entirely on AIOs. On external rx with the heat shrink you can protect it but you can’t do same on an AIO and temperature put off by the AIO FC just abuses and exploits any weak spots and the solder connection on those box antennas is weak before FC turned on for first time and gets worse from here here.
Wow, seems like forever since I’ve got to enjoy one of your videos. Thanks for posting this great review the little guy looks like it’s worth it just for the fun factor. Price and survivability are just an awesome bonus. Your looking good and taking us along on these fun journeys is great, hope to see more of you real soon! 😁🙋🏻♂️🇨🇦
I'm curious if it's gonna be similar/ if this can replace my crux35's as my travel quads. Crux35 gets me 5-7 minutes on a 4S 650. I can see it having the same weaknesses as in the snapping the single plate frame or motor strikes disabling the tiny motors. Awesome review thank you.
Love your video, 2S Micros they are the best, I have a Happymodel Bassline 2S Walksnail edition, flies just like "YMZFPV Light1", came with very similar setup with the same tri blade props, 1103 11000KV motors and XT30 plug -- fun fun fun and super fast, may be you should mod that "YMZFPV Light1" and upgrade with a a S1 Walksnail VTX, as the props are out of view. 👍
this would be perfect for a pilot transitioning from GPS stabilized quads to fully manual flight. parts are cheap and with its size and weight it wont do much damage to what it crashes into.
I don’t know yet how to fly FPV mode yet I have two drones the DJI FPV and the new DJI Avata goggles will any of these controllers and goggles work with this drone?
He Steve, thank you mate for all you do within this hobby. I haven't kept up with your channel for a while, I'm so sorry. I've had my own mental issues after losing my family recently but Id like to know if this is a good option for someone with some experience? Thank you for all you do!
Not sure I like the AIO, if anything breaks on those it's done. Other than that, it looks like a really nice lil beast. I've been looking for a nice fast micro with HDZero to replace my whoops with. I wonder if that frame would have the space for it
Aios are a lot more reliable than they used to be, and good luck finding a micro of this size with a stack. There's barely any 16x16 stacks left on the market and a 20x20 stack would either be heavy, or just as reliable as an aio if they tried to make it that lightweight.
I have a total noob question. I want to get into FPV drones to fly around my forested property for fun and to check on wild animals. However I'd like to buy re-usable gear when possible so that as I get better drones I don't always have to buy expensive gear to go with it. What type of common gear (eg: controller, charger, etc) do you guys recommend I get that will be somewhat future-proof? Thanks.
Anything express elrs...you can buy a cheap radio master pocket which he is using here and get yourself a express elrs EP version receiver. Best thing to do when starting out is have prop protectors. I'm trying to find a mini like this with the guards. I also want to fly in the house for winter and this would be great with some for banging into walls.
Hey stew I just bought a drone however I feel likes it’s lacking and I can’t push myself, and I wanted to upgrade my transmitter with the drone but found myself lost I watched this video and wanted to grab this drone and another transmitter you bought but don’t know if that combination works if you or anyone reading comments could help would greatly appreciate it
Hmmm, doesn’t look like it’ll kick my Tinyhawk 2 Race out of the bed. Seems to fly very similarly - maybe a niggle faster (7,500kv vs 10,000). Plus I have like 6 of them and a whole box of spare parts. Ordered one nonetheless 🤙🏽
can anyone tell me which remote, battery, googles should i get for this drone ? My 5y old son keeps asking for games, i think this would be much better then games
