Before I watch this video, which by the way I wait for every week with anticipation, I want to say something about my simple scout kit. Thoroughly enjoyed building it and painting it was the most fun part. Absolutely the first airplane I have built in the last 30 years. Learned a lot of new skills. It's not perfect but I love it and I will be trying another one shortly to see if I can do it really nice and clean like Josh does it with no hanger rash before it even leaves the hanger lol thanks guys for a great way of enjoying flight. John from Canada
There's another way to make a simple plane with arrow shafts: Two arrow shafts as an A frame, canard on the front, twin vert stabs at the back ends, big wing across the pair of booms around the CG. You could hang twin motors off the tails, or a single motor in pusher config, attached to the trailing edge center of the main wing. One of the earliest free flight champ planes was a twin pusher rubber band design of this type, very slow and stable.
the crazy thing is this looks almost exactly like a plane i made 8 or so years ago, 3d printing a wing mount for a long balsa stick. the plane never flew well, but got me into 3d printing enough that i can make good firewalls for FT foamboard planes now
When I was a wee sprog, my Dad built a glider wtih a body made of a half a yard stick , balsa wings, and a V-type tail. He built as a fuselage for my Jetex engine. Before attaching the rocket, we took it out the the prairie beside the army base. Dad launched the glider, it caught a thermal and went away... way away... this reminded me of then... thanx!
I still have 2 of the original GWS Slow Sticks. They’re both massively overpowered but by far the best slow flyers I own for a relaxing day at the field.
I've got a couple of questions. First, I went to my local Walmart to pickup a carbon arrow shaft and they didn't have a single arrow in stock in the store. I went to a local sporting goods store and they only sell arrows by the 1/2 dozen or more. No singles. I checked Amazon for just CF tubes and they want $19.00 to ship a $9 dollar rod. Where do I find these $3.00 7mm OD arrows? Secondly, now that Flight Fest is done, can you do an in-depth build video? The plans don't call out the rod length, or placement of the 3D printed parts.
are there different sizes of Arrow shafts I had some I use for spars and they're too big for the 3d printed parts I tried to shave a bevel to get the shaft started but still wont fit. any thoughts?
This is exactly the plane i have been looking for ... sub 250g ... but need more info like where are the plans, where are the STL 3DP files and is there a speedbuild kit
This plane looks like a lot of fun to build and fly. Is there any chance that you will be selling the 3D printed parts or will your plans be just foam board only?
It's a dollar and a quarter! Who's got that kind of money?! I love these projects as much as the big warbirds. I have everything on hand to build this with the kids already, another plus. Thanks.
Where can I get the plans for this stick? I signed up for the news letter when this video came out but have not received any news letter with the plans. Does it come to my email address?
Looks like great fun but unless I'm missing something I could do with some measurements for placement of the 3D printed parts? (Distance from front to front of first wing seat etc..) Also, as Arrow shafts aren't as available here in UK what's the diameter so we can order carbon tube?
I agree with "graywoulf". I think that there would be a great opportunity to market such a simple kit, and it would also be an inexpensive way for a beginner to learn to fly and get started into such a fun hobby.
I knew about the FAA registration requirements, but I didn’t know they extended to model airplanes! Now I know what to do when I get an RC plane in the future.
Searched all over the Flite Test website and can't find any reference to this plane. This plane is exactly what I am hoping to build so the plans, etc would be great. 🙂
I don't have a 3d printer. so I decided to look into get the parts printed at PCBway (which the company I work for has used for PCB prototypes, I'm a PCB designer) but they're asking me about units (mm/inches), material, resin. what should I tell them for the files you provided?
I absolutely love the slow stick. For those of us who don't have a 3D printer, are you going to sell the 3D printed parts as a kit? That would be great if possible. Thanks in advance.
So............If i dont have one of those 3D printers I cant make this plane ?.....I want to make it Big.... Like 66 Inches wing length or close to that ? what is available to buy or make for that size model ? Any way to make it 2 times your size that you built I have different size motors an E-flite Power 32 770Kv or a E-flite EFLM 1305 Park 400 Outrunner 920Kv....(Smaller size) and a 40 & 60amp ESC ...I have no real clue as to what they might power and how to figure out what this would need to make. I have to have this big to be able to see it !.....What Can you suggest for this larger size Please I like slow Fryers not good with speed right now ...!
HELP please. Joined Flite Test FTCA and downloaded the stl files to print the 3d parts but could not find the description for the build. Things like motor size, prop size, wing info where to position the parts on the arrow and rig up. Can anybody help me with that type of information. Thanks
So much YES in this video! Love it! THIS is why you guys are so popular in the community! Stuff like this really makes flying accessible to EVERYONE!!!!!! Keep up the amazing work!
Got the plans and am currently 3D printing the parts, next to print the plans and cut the foam! Cant describe how excited I am for this build! PS... Glad the full size F22 is back, its one of my favorites as well (built one YEARS ago)! Also got my Tiny Trainer, Tenet, and Power Pack A in the mail a few days ago! This is gonna be the summer I really learn to fly well!
Where are the plans? I signed up for the news letter when this video came out but have not received a news letter. Does it come to my email? Can I get the plans anywhere else?
Back to basics. Thanks flitetest! Love you guys, but I don't want to watch any more ground effect episodes. This type of content, foam board designs, will keep me coming back.
you guys should make a plane that "saves itself" in a crash or something goes wrong aka servo goes out or about to crash that would be toggled by a switch could deploy parachutes or something.
Ok so I recently discovered y'all! So I don't if you are looking for suggestions BUT I'm gonna shoot my shot have y'all heard of the parasite fighters? Maybe try something like that! And for flight fest maybe do a surprise team fight?
Is it possible to buy the arrow shaft parts?? You may have said so in the video but I missed it if so. I do not have a 3D printer but want to have a sub 250gr airplane to stay under big brother’s ugly rulings! Thanks FT!

flite test has done more for the hobby than anyone ever ! bless their hearts and thanks so much 😀
I just wanted to say, everyone should have a friend just like Dave.
Thanks! I agree! ... oh, wait, you meant the guy in the video... yea, him too! 😏
Finally, something really in the spirit of the slow-stick! I saw that Slow stick ultra on Horizon and threw a fit! $200!
i Miss GWS big time they were ahead of their time
I missed seeing those slow sticks and keep flying guys ✈️

Great video!
I’m having trouble finding the DIY Arrow flyer. Can you help me find the plans and electronics please?
@5:05
30 second black screen - probably the ad break
yeah I was wondering what that was
should have been b roll from flite fest I suspet, but something went bad with the import.
How can we get that 250g -> 1kg thing started in Canada?
really great model and super light wow!
I've got a couple of questions.

PLEASE MAKE THE WRIGHT BOTHERS FIRST AIRPLANE!!
I don't see dimensions on the plans for the placement of the mounts? Am I missing something?
Absolutely fantastic!
Where can I download plans and gcode files at? Great job.
i have one of those GWS slow sticks, good back yard flyer
When will we see the plans for this build? anxiously waiting to build one
are there different sizes of Arrow shafts I had some I use for spars and they're too big for the 3d printed parts I tried to shave a bevel to get the shaft started but still wont fit. any thoughts?
I have a Hobby King Slow Stick and it is an amazing airplane!
You should get a B&M Black Widow telescoping fishing pole and build a giant version. The pole is great for large stick planes.
This is exactly the plane i have been looking for ... sub 250g ... but need more info like where are the plans, where are the STL 3DP files and is there a speedbuild kit
They said Near the end, through their newslestter.
Anyone else just get a black screen from 5:03-5:53?
What power pack did yall use?
Bring back the vlogs with Alex and Stefan!
This plane looks like a lot of fun to build and fly. Is there any chance that you will be selling the 3D printed parts or will your plans be just foam board only?
Need a build video with dimensions !
It's a dollar and a quarter! Who's got that kind of money?! I love these projects as much as the big warbirds. I have everything on hand to build this with the kids already, another plus. Thanks.
How do we get the plans for the wing and tail ? Have all the parts coming from radical rc
Where can I get the building instructions with the shaft length/thickness and spacing dimensions where the 3D parts need to be glued on to the shaft?
So where do we get the plans?
Where can I get the plans for this stick? I signed up for the news letter when this video came out but have not received any news letter with the plans. Does it come to my email address?
Where can I get there Stl's from?
thingi_verse "flying stick"
Thanks looks fun

.211 - .422 ~ roughly
Where can i find the 3d print files??
I love it
where can I get plans for this? I signed up for the news letter, now what?
Building one of these now but was wondering if you guys could give me a landing gear template? Plane looks and flies awesome!
I was just thinking it's been a while since y'all did anything with gassers.
Content idea: try turning an old string trimmer engine into a gasser!
I agree with "graywoulf". I think that there would be a great opportunity to market such a simple kit, and it would also be an inexpensive way for a beginner to learn to fly and get started into such a fun hobby.
I still have a GWS Slow-Stick in the box! Had plans for a camera stick, but quad-copters shelved that! :)
Just got all the parts printed for one with three, 6mmx6mmx300mm square carbon fiber tubes. Wish I had thought of the arrows!
Is there any possibility of getting the 3D printer files for the printed parts?
half the vid was sponsorship of one sort or another?? holy moly
247! Sounded like you were trying to keep it 103 legal ;-)
Now 3d print a Quicksilver fuselage
Josh! You can’t pimp your newsletter then NOT leave a link in the description on how and where to sign up for it!! YOU’RE KILLING ME, SMALLS!
the link is in the description
Why do I feel like they will make a video in 2025 titled "We built an rc rocket that can actually fly to Mars!"
I knew about the FAA registration requirements, but I didn’t know they extended to model airplanes! Now I know what to do when I get an RC plane in the future.
Yep! That's a common misunderstanding. A "drone" to the FAA includes quadcopters AND model aircraft.
Searched all over the Flite Test website and can't find any reference to this plane. This plane is exactly what I am hoping to build so the plans, etc would be great. 🙂
Will the plans be available by the first weekend in may? I wanna build one with my buddy for his birthday
Any chance you could bring flite fest to the uk one day? Would be awesome guys
Hey guys. Are the files for the 3D printed parts available yet? Thx.
👍😎👍thanks for the video
What happened to the hovercraft project? Been almost a month since the last update?
I wish we had more groups like the FCA in Canada, considering how TC and MAAC are having the issues.
Wait... you guys have been registering your planes? I tight that was a joke. 😂
Would have been cool to do the wings out of lwpla. Honestly could design the entire thing to be 3d printed including the arrow shaft.
Awesome 😎👍🏼
the whole video was one great big advertisement
Will this work with the spare parts (wing mounts etc?) from the Horizon Hobby plane? I don't have access to a 3D printer.
I'm a subscriber, where do we find the print files?
5:03-5:34 is just a black screen with music
I love you guys
Why can't I post a link to the plans?
Cool. Slow stick with inav I’m in
I don't have a 3d printer. so I decided to look into get the parts printed at PCBway (which the company I work for has used for PCB prototypes, I'm a PCB designer) but they're asking me about units (mm/inches), material, resin. what should I tell them for the files you provided?
5:04 - 5:30 is blank
Hey josh when is the new all terrain Flerken going to come out??
End of April :-)
I absolutely love the slow stick. For those of us who don't have a 3D printer, are you going to sell the 3D printed parts as a kit? That would be great if possible. Thanks in advance.

Motor ESC and battery used? I don't have a 3D printer but have a big box of sewing thread spools I can turn into wing and equipment mounting points.
HELP please. Joined Flite Test FTCA and downloaded the stl files to print the 3d parts but could not find the description for the build. Things like motor size, prop size, wing info where to position the parts on the arrow and rig up. Can anybody help me with that type of information. Thanks
Dave are you going to be sharing the gcode files?
Hey, I think I recognize that white and orange fowl flier in the combat clip
Anyone know the Range of their beginner P-40?
Link to files??
F18 vs f14 with airsoft guns I live in Texas this would really make my day
So much YES in this video! Love it! THIS is why you guys are so popular in the community! Stuff like this really makes flying accessible to EVERYONE!!!!!! Keep up the amazing work!

Can y’all at flite test make an XF-85 Goblin?! A neat prototype “parasite fighter” tested in WW2
I'm probably dumb but I don't see the longer video link
You should try to make a rc M2-R1.
The hobbytown in Reynoldsburg Ohio is sitting on 3 slow ultra sticks right now! Let me know if guys are interested so you can pump those videos out.
Feel like I missed how I can get those sweet 3D print models to build my own stick plane.
Was that Messina from Loggins and Messina?
Back to basics. Thanks flitetest! Love you guys, but I don't want to watch any more ground effect episodes. This type of content, foam board designs, will keep me coming back.
Use that thing to make kamikaze attacks on ships!
nice

Can you make a Jedi interceptor?
Can I hunt whitetail with this? 😂
Re invented the slow stick huh lol lol

Wow
