He was my favorite cricketer in my young age. I was lucky to have seen him very closely in Motybaug ground in Baroda and heard comentry on radio when he scored 94 before lunch against West Indies at chepok, Madras.
In 60's I watched him as a very handsome Wicket keeper & stylish Opening Batsman, I remember when every body tell him BYRELCREAM man, he is Parsi, he played in the captaincy of Nadkarni, Poly Umrigar, Nawab of Pataudi, Abid Ali, Saleem Durrani, Abbas Ali Baig & many, Still I & mostly Indians Love Him.
I qrew up watching Farukh playing Kanga League matches for Parsi Cyclist which at that time had Polly Umrigar, Nari Contractor and Rusi Surti in their ranks. He was very entertaining both in front and behind the wickets. I remember listening live radio commentary Of Chepauk Test but Roy Gilchrist was not par of that West Indies Teamj
One of our heroes when we began to follow the game from 1969, just for his flamboyant batting style and flashy stumpings. He took nothing to his head, except BRYLCREAM.
Very nostelgic for me to see him after a very long time i remeber his century in madras before lunch we had transitor radios only during those days i always enjoyed his aggression whily playing no problem for how long or short time on pitch. Very last time during calcutta wc against india shreelanka i heared his comentry last time when shree nath got two wickets in one over without good bowling. And i see him now. He us very right cricketers got too little for too hard work.thx
A great wicketkeeper who was primarily a batsman with equal strength in keeping विकेट्स due to which बुद्धि kundran could not get his worth but no fault og farookh engineer ,like dravid playing in Sachin's era couldn't evolve and groom ,like p. shivalkar's carrier ruined by b.bedi Hard luck for all three !!!!
What a load of rubbish that he was " probably " the first wicketkeeper / batsman , if he was his idol growing up he would remember another India Hall of Famer Bhudi Kunderan who played test cricket before Engineer and Engineer never scored 525 runs in a test series like Kunderan did .
One of my favourite cricketers of the 1960- 1970s .....quite a personality with so much dynamism and charisma ❤❤❤
