Kids out here in Australia 🇦🇺, don't realise that these blokes were revered around the world, and still are, especially here IN Australia. We've had our own good cricket sides from Australia, but when you're still getting hidings off them, you have to pay homage. Respected and loved. However, apart from that, they took a sport on the wane, and revitalised it.❤😅😂😊
During a party a lady reporter came up to Joel Garner and said , "can i ask how tall you are Mr Garner?" "6ft 8" Joel Garner replys "Really, WOW, are you all in proportion" Joel responds by saying, "No Ma'am, if I was I'd be 8ft 6"
What a terrific trio they are. Immensely delighted to see them in whichever way possible as they were real masters of the game & entertainment the masses with their enormous skills. That's the beauty of Calypso cricket. ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️
I have witnessed all of them bowling, but the most lethal and devastating battery Comprised of Marshall, Holding, Garner and Roberts combination. No respite to batsmen.
Colin Croft was also a member of the pack. Marshall was an all-rounder who batted well and bowled fast, while Roberts, Holding, Garner and Croft bowled fast.
Flashback to my childhood days during the 80s back in the Caribbean witnessing the most dominant team in cricket history. The depth of talent was something to behold. The bowling attack? Not much needs to be said. In my opinion, the best ever. And though most of the spotlight falls on Sir Viv (and rightfully so), he didn't have to carry a burden because there were just so many guys who could carry an innings - Haynes, Greenidge, Gomes, Richardson, Dujon, Sir Clive Lloyd). Felt like these guys could never lose. The golden era of West Indies cricket! Just a shame what it has become now
I just wish I was older so I could have seen such a great generation of cricketers. Just imagine them bowling to virtually any of the batting line ups around the world now. They would destroy everyone anywhere.
+CFAN123 Holding was frighteningly quick. Joel Garner wasn't as fast but with his height he generated so much bounce that most batters couldn't handle him. And Viv? Even when he was belting Aussie attacks all around the ground he was still a joy to watch. Then when you added others like Andy Roberts, Colin Croft, Malcolm Marshall, Clive Lloyd, Gordon Greenidge, Gus Logie, Larry Gomes, Desmond Haynes, Richie Richardson and Jeffrey Dujon......the West Indies of the late 70's and through the 80's was one of the most awesome lineups in history. Three true legends of cricket right there.
+CFAN123 Incorrect. They'd be far less effective. Batsmen are better protected, more adventurous and technically advanced, they have thicker and lighter bats and pitches are deliberately grown to favour batting.
Garner's yorkers were daedly. as if the asteroid is comming from space and passing through bat and leg. unplayable.holding very accurate and fast, bowl nearing the stump always. roberts killer bouncy outswinger and marshal's random inswing suddenly after few out swinger and straightbouncers. Itana variety tha ki ise topkhana kahate the. "windies ka topkhana".
@@berbatov3890 Today's cricket or modern day cricket is no comparison to the great legends of yesteryear.Boundaries tend to shorter and with all the protection, armour the Windies pacers still manage to inflict injuries and in some instances end careers. The great Viv didn't even wear a helmet or mouth guard because it affected his chewing of gum, these guys had hearts and balls to take and give in any country what ever!
So much talent concentrated at one time. In 1983, they had a bowling attack of Holding, Roberts, Marshal and Garner, with Colin Croft and Silvester Clarke as back ups. No wonder they never needed a spin bowler! You got to feel sorry for the opposition batsmen, it was relentless top class fast bowling, over after over after over...
By 1983 Colin Croft and Sylvester Clarke were no longer a part of the WI team. They last played for the WI in 82 and by 83 they had gone on a rebel tour to South Africa
Actually in 1979/80 it was Holding, Roberts, Garner, and Colin Croft, with Marshal and Silvester Clarke as back ups. Marshall got in the team because Croft went on the rebel tour.
No one would have thought they would retire all would wish to see them playing for ever I too think to watch them again and again big pleasure to see them
I remember when West Indies toured India in 1987 ,in a one Day match a commentator mentioned that Captain of West Indies Viv Richards also played football very well other than cricket.
Never even in cricket history can be this bowling line up Imagine you have to face Andy Roberts Joel Garner next change is Michael Holding and Malcolm Marshall...What an era that was and many have missed this era and will never ever understand what these 4 names were in bowling for oppositions and batsmen world over.

# Two pace attack and one of the best ever batsman viv to me he is the king of best. The chat is absolutely nice and these trio dominated in the cricket field is goosebumps for me. Viv is so cool and and always chew the gum with his own style. I didnt noticed till now any angry moments. He places the ball especially against Ian Botham is absolutely fantastic to figure out the gap. I pray 🙏 to god to give all almighty and good health for all cricket legends legends yesteryears and today. Their guidance through out the world to be utilised and improve better version of improved cricket with quite interesting one. All the best trio!!!!! Cheers #

Most definitely does. As a Jamaican myself, I like it. Gonna miss him as a commentator.
What accent? They all sound the same dunce..
@@DEPORTEEE JAMAICAN when it works for you trick. Who says dumness?
Just in front of Graeme Swann who takes Holding off brilliantly. ❤😂😂
great interview Karl ,could see you were fully engaged with your respect and affection for these legends
Good job from the presenter giving equal respect to all of them.

Really legendary Viv Richards has a beautiful baritoned voice
I have witnessed all of them bowling, but the most lethal and devastating battery Comprised of Marshall, Holding, Garner and Roberts combination. No respite to batsmen.
Probably.I don't think any team has had 4 bowlers of that quality since those days.Lots have had 3 with the 4th so so.
Colin Croft was also a member of the pack. Marshall was an all-rounder who batted well and bowled fast, while Roberts, Holding, Garner and Croft bowled fast.
my name is Joel Garner😂😂😂😂
Lucky and blessed to have seen all of them in action at the Eden Gardens
A dreamy more than legendary interview to me!!! The main thing that attracts me is, these guys are true, true gentlemen.
3 gems of cricket. Salute to you all.
Still cannot quite believe I grew up watching Richards and Garner playing for my county (Somerset of course). What a team that was :)
