    I was in ACC at their Churchgate HQ in Mumbai. I had the pleasure of sitting just 2 tables away from the great Bapu Nadkarni . He was a very softspoken person, always helpful. A thorough gentleman to the core. We often used to listen to his comments on Indian Cricket. In his passing away I lost nice gentleman. India lost a legend.

    Oh, what a clear thinking, what a integrity..... 6 sixes.... that's not a cricket. Sir, there are only two... yourself and Sir Don... obviously our own Sunil is there with you. And what you played... that is cricket. Salute

    Ajit wadekar did not have fast bowlers like Kapil Dev and time our middle order batting was also weak. We didn’t have any good batsman like Vishwanath. We were dependent on Gavaskar and Vishwanath. Therefore Wadekar lost 1974 series in England. He was so much disappointed that he resigned from Indian cricket

    • @rajatshubhrosengupta284
      @rajatshubhrosengupta284 3 года назад

      Issue is not that India lost all 3 tests in 1974.
      Even in 1967, we had lost all 3, when Tiger was the captain. On both series we had similarly insufficient resources.
      In 1974 our team hardly put up any fight, ulike in 1967.
      The scandal was around the one knock of 42 all out, which still can be ignored as an off day in the field.
      The crisis and disgrace was about the petty, in - fighting and groupism in the team to which Wadekar the captain became a partner, the manager Col. Hemu Adhikari being the biggest culprit. Wadekar, much like Rahul Dravid was not strong enough to stick his neck out, when
      necessary, and take on a mean, harmful manager.

    I just saw this recently. Very inspirational. But that story by Sobers about Chandrasekher and Hall does not seem accurate. That was not the scorecard of Bombay test in 1966. Anyone know what he might have been thinking about?

      Right. Sobers must be talking of some other day or some other match.
      In Bombay in 1966 67, WI batted second. Clive Lloyd
      debuted and scored 82 znd 78 not out as WI reached their winning target.
      WI neither batted on Day 1, nor plunge to 37 for 4 , and to about 70 for loss of few more wickets !!!
