I think a significant part of this "trend" is caused by body dysmorphia. It is predominantly young women and those with a greater disposition toward eating disorders. This is, unfortunately, a very sad reflection of how they would like to be seen. They need help, not viral affirmation that encourages their belief that this "standard of beauty" is something to aspire to.
@@YourCo-workerAlbedo It's an extreme exaggeration of traits they see as desirable. The dysmorphia part of it makes their perception get warped so they can't see that it's going way too far.

Once I saw my girlfriend warp her image via BeautyCam, I did it myself, but to an unnecessarily extreme level due to my unhealthy mindset. I was suffering anorexia at the time. Amazing video akidearest, fantastic job. It’s so ridiculously how far people would change there appearance to get noticed by people,it’s so dumb they should be happy what they have in life.
Being born with a BLL??? "I am a big girl" with super skinny waist??? These people do not think general public to be as smart.... I don't know if this is a form of narcissism in a lighter sense but the audacity is undoubtedly real!
Tbh, she could have lipedema on her butt and upper legs. Her legs didn't look sure thin as well, which makes me think it's possible it is actually "what god gave her", meaning having a condition.
@@Luxxannethank you for bringing this up! Most people just want to jump on the bandwagon to make themselves feel superior. It takes courage and a good heart to go against the flow and offer an explanation or defend someone, especially a stranger. I went to school with a girl whose body shape was just like this, slim except for her butt, hips, thighs. As I was skinny except for my own big backside and bigger thighs than I thought a dancer should have, we shared many of the same insecurities. It was early on in our friendship when she said what her condition was and for the life of me I can't remember, but lymphedema is the most likely. On the other hand though, this lady shouldn't be dressed like that in a place that caters to children and families and act all surprised and upset with people gawking ( that's what she was after to get the "views ") and that parents would want to shield their children from that type of display. It's just not normal to want to wear revealing attire to go to a place that's meant for children. Like everything in life, there's more than just one side to things. Thank you again for pointing out that she could have a condition and if so she didn't choose to have that body shape and I'm glad she's accepted herself. But now she needs to work on appropriate attire for certain places, just like everyone else has our own things to work on.
As someone with a natural 50in hip and small waist hard agree. It doesn’t even move in the slightest???? God given? Wouldn’t be surprised if this was just to get attention on her account but hey it worked she got her bag 😂
As someone who have been roaming around Chinese social media, I 100% confident to say this trend isn't something new at all and is most probably a norm that is going to get memed 😂
Matt looks so much better with his before. Not because I’m into Asian looking people, but because I like natural looks like that so much better. It’s a shame someone has to go through surgery just to accept their appearance. we really should have courses in classes available for every single person at the age of middle school age that help them except their appearances as they are.
I think Asian women are extremely beautiful. What makes them beautiful is the black silky hair, tan skin and their beautiful personality. IMHO alterations are not needed

I think I recognize the girl in the second and third photos. I saw a documentary with her, she's had a lot of plastic surgery (I think she said over 100 procedures) to look like a french doll, and yet she edits her photos as much as she does. She's beautiful and seems really sweet, but girl, whyyy 🙃
Where does this insecurity induced body dysmorphia come from? I recall purikura having editing capabilities like this for a long time - to lighten skin, make eyes larger, & make faces smaller - so I imagine young girls growing up thinking it was a good thing because their friends all agreed it was an improvement & now can’t live without it as an adult. It is even worse that Japanese culture isn’t big on dealing with mental issues, so this insecurity is never addressed via therapy which, in turn, can develop into an obsession with plastic surgery & unrealistic body ideals.
@@lesleycouch6557 Of course! I also have no problem with BBLs. I do prefer natural bodies whether they're slim or thick. But to act like all that is what God gave you? 😀 No
It's mostly for privacy. That's why people use pictures of food and pets. The doll like faces are meant to be sarcastic and fun. The actor/musician I follow, he only posts half of his face or an eye peeking out from a corner, to his account. Honestly, this 'trend' blows my mind about east Asia. Like, the total disinterest in looking even remotely, passably human. For all the make-up, work and editing that Western influencers use to the point they all look uncannily the same, at least the look itself is vaguely human. Like you could almost believe by random luck someone could be born with those good genetics. But then you see East Asia's 'influencer' beauty standards and it's like they're trying to appeal to Florpblox followers from Eredani Pegasi 6 or something.
i went to south korea a couple of months ago . cos i just wanted to cross it off my bucket list of places to go before i get old . and it was a real eye opener . alot of people look the same there . the beauty standards . white skin , micheal jackson nose , same haircuts . i was like . the heck is this . im glad i was only there for 8 days . tbh . i like Japan better . in Japan you see alot more real people
I personally think they really are just trying to look like anime, which then brought back a memory of a person I learned about back then. Björn Andresen, the most beautiful boy in the world. From what I was informed, he was said to be the inspiration for anime boys back then.
Her 🍑 is actually her natural 🍑. It's everything else she's had reduced and sculpted to make it appear even bigger. She used to have more of a tummy that you'd expect on a women that never actually works out or eats healthy. And she's had some face work done too.
Lipedema is a real medical condition that causes your lower reagen to grow large one of my best childhood friends has the condition and it visually makes your butt disproportionately huge and thickens your thighs in some cases it also thickens your calfs and upper arms if that one woman actually has the condition and takes advantage of what she has with only fans I genuinely see nothing wrong with her. Life be life'n and if her butt really is all fake (her thick thighs included) all that she is really doing is helping people that actually has the condition or those with similar conditions feel better about themselves by seeing an influencer present themselves with a similar body type. But that's just how I personally feel I'm sure others may feel differently about it and that's fine
@@yokomiharuastelan I feel like conditions like this need to be more public. People need to do more research to better understand the world around them.
Wrong. Lipadema has a more lumpy appearance, the woman in the video has it extremely rounded with less lumps, and when you google medical lipadema it looks nothing like her butt.
One of my Japanese friends daughter ( now in her 20’s ) does this . I often ask her why ? She is a very cute and super sweet young lady and doesn’t need this type of stuff . She doesn’t give an answer .
I’ve seen these kinds of photos before a lot on Instagram (also have no clue what the aesthetic is called) and I always wondered why people never talked about it!!! Like you said, no judgement to people who edit their photos (I of anyone knows how difficult and painful it is to struggle with self worth) and I don’t judge these girls either! I definitely think they know how fake it looks and I think that’s probably the point of the aesthetic and I’ll never judge a person for expressing themselves in the way that makes them feel happiest about themselves! At the same time though, even though I’m sure these girls are aware of how fake their photos look, I can’t help but think like you that they must be hiding behind this aesthetic to mask their insecurities. I know I for one have done that sort of thing a lot personally by using alt fashion as a way to draw attention away from my insecurities by making people focus on my style instead. But yeah, I always was curious why I never saw anyone talk about this aesthetic before and so seeing this video made me kind of glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this type of editing trend!
Unfortunately even outside of Japan people complain about how girls look on these dating apps even for the same reasoning only difference is what is filtered change.
Either way...her butt is ridiculously large and bulbous in proportion to her upper body!! They aren't staring and laughing because she is a "big girl", but because whatever surgery she has done makes her look ridiculous!!! She obviously wanted to look like that...but obviously people are going to stare and laugh...duh!!! Should've figured that out in advance if it was going to upset her...
I live in Japan too and i've been thinking the same thing and no one understands why when I mention it. I have always found purikura photos a bit disturbing as well...
Have to admit, I came into this already having a comment planned "Still not as bad as ganguro/manba/yamanba" thinking it couldn't be worse than that. Now that I have seen the video, I think I have to give up on using that comment.
What concerns me most about these trends is that people don't seem to understand that going under a knife is always a risk to take. You might get bleeding, you might get infected, something can go wrong during anesthesia in general, you might end up not looking the way you hoped for etc... It's nuts.
it hurts that this is a trend still when people can genuinely look very similar due to health conditions- this video felt a lot like HS days of just talking smack on others videos and idk about all that- but I do know with your platform maybe you could talk more about the seriousness of WHY people do this rather than how bad you think they look?
as a small person- this hurts. we ALL have different sizes and should all be valid in their own ways- why do we have to have this constant back and forth fight through the centuries about what body type is "better, sexier" please OKAY we all have preferences but like lets not completely sht on another to make ourselves feel good ya know?

I've noticed this trend with a few Japanese influencers I'd look up from time to time. I'm an alternative person, and this aesthetic is really concerning. It screams body dysmorphia 😔
The vkei community is going strong with this kind of editing lol.
As a psychologist....I'm very sad for those people...
As one, what if any insights do you have about people who behave in these ways?
@@anthonynelson6671I also specialize in psych and I have two words for you: body dysphoria
It's so weird to post pictures like those of yourself online. Like...do you not feel weird when seeing people from your social media in person?
I’ve seen these everywhere online, and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!
Wait it's real and not youtube content? what?
As a guy, legit that's not attractive. It's honestly creepy. Like really really creepy.
And the worst thing, specifically in the US is that you can't talk about this. Yes I get the need to not bully but this totally falls under "don't talk about women's bodies" and by not talking about it issues like body disnorohic disorder are almost encouraged instead of treated or even addressed.
it actually genially concerns me how extremely insecure these people are when they do that much filter on themselves. even with plastic surgery. people need to stop pushing a beauty trend thats very unrealistic AND unhealthy
Why do you think these people want to look like that irl?
No way this is how I find out Aki does OF
Fr I didn’t know she did
Omg it’s similar to beauty trend in china, small face, long limbs, white skin, thin waist and big *cough. This is so extreme however and a bit scary
tell that to all men around the world who telling them to get bigger muscle by going to gym...
why only speak up about women physique but not speak up about men physique ??
@@andreassetiawan122then go make ur own video speaking out about it instead of only bringing this up when women’s issues are discussed? Also a gym physique is not the same as the beauty standards discussed here. Anyone can gain muscles by working out, but to have a small face/thin waist/big butt you have to alter your bone structure via surgery, for many it is not possible just by working out, making it truly unrealistic.
@@andreassetiawan122who is telling them that? Other men. So y’all tell yourselves. Women typically don’t idolize the muscular bodies men do, so this is silly ignorant shit
If you're talking about Gracie Bon you need to look her up. RUclips, IG and Pinterest. She's not even from Japan let alone living there.
@@who4743they are not reading allat 💀
Become dolls. No need for flesh when you can be immortal. Plastic is the future of reality
Aqua's song "Barbie Girl" was a prediction of the future.
Cruelty Squad
Mad Father esque stuff
@@Ozymondias99I'm a Barbie gurl in a Barbie worlddd wrap In plastic it's fantastic. You can brush my hair and undress me everywhereeee imagination life is your favorite
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you.
all of these photos came straight from an analog horror
I think I recognize the girl in the second and third photos. I saw a documentary with her, she's had a lot of plastic surgery (I think she said over 100 procedures) to look like a french doll, and yet she edits her photos as much as she does. She's beautiful and seems really sweet, but girl, whyyy 🙃
Lmao! The slowed down guy looking at her but, and the "What God gave me" segment had me in stitches Aki!
The 'One Piece' line sent me!!! Guuuurl they trying to look like Boa Hanncock!! xD
*spit take*
9:31 I beg your fucking pardon?! Since when was this?!
I came to the comments to find someone mention it
Been trying to find comment that mention this cause whattttt
same
LITERALLY. She mentioned it so casually?? I guess that’s one way to fund video productions..
I found it..
It's the funniest thing when people with BBLs talk about being big 😀. Like no baby you're not actually plus-sized. You're still skinny AF lol
BBLs?
@@lesleycouch6557 brazilian butt lifts i think
@lesleycouch6557 Yes, that's what the girl at Disneyland has, a Brazilian butt lift. Which also includes liposuction.
@@dreajp Thank you 👍
@@lesleycouch6557 Of course!
His agency made it illegal to distribute his photos and images outside of his fan club and approved platforms.
We call exclusive to Japan artists like this "premium boys/girls".
Matt is an idol thet plays an android character.
8:34 The look on the kids face and the "what god gave me" she said right after made me die lol...
it's not even just japan, this trend is really popular in Korea and china was well.
All the Chinese douyin videos where they edit themselves to look like this 👽
It’s very sad we can’t love ourselves for who we are.
lol the disneyland girl looks like squidward when he exploded from too many krabby patties
That second picture looks like a jump scare. It was scary.
3:27 people are complimenting her because people used her photos on stab twitter and floptok for memes. The people commenting mustve been happy to find the original photos i guess
I got a gut feeling these comments were sarcastic and ironic.
Matt kuwata looks like how oli London looks trying to look like jimin 👀
I appreciate you so much, Aki !! Most ppl are sugar coating these things so much
Honestly, this 'trend' blows my mind about east Asia. Like, the total disinterest in looking even remotely, passably human. For all the make-up, work and editing that Western influencers use to the point they all look uncannily the same, at least the look itself is vaguely human. Like you could almost believe by random luck someone could be born with those good genetics. But then you see East Asia's 'influencer' beauty standards and it's like they're trying to appeal to Florpblox followers from Eredani Pegasi 6 or something.
i went to south korea a couple of months ago . cos i just wanted to cross it off my bucket list of places to go before i get old . and it was a real eye opener . alot of people look the same there . the beauty standards . white skin , micheal jackson nose , same haircuts . i was like . the heck is this . im glad i was only there for 8 days . tbh . i like Japan better . in Japan you see alot more real people
She built for the Canvas WEBTOON MCs
I just love the intro, you're a very nice person.

I personally think they really are just trying to look like anime, which then brought back a memory of a person I learned about back then.

From what I was informed, he was said to be the inspiration for anime boys back then.

Super BBL lady built like Mewtwo
Just like Mewtwo, might be reconstructed
It's an actual condition
@@belle3770 Body dysmorphia
Her 🍑 is actually her natural 🍑. It's everything else she's had reduced and sculpted to make it appear even bigger. She used to have more of a tummy that you'd expect on a women that never actually works out or eats healthy. And she's had some face work done too.
"THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT FREAKING HUMANS, OKAY??" is the thing i instantly thought of when i looked at those photoshopped images lol
But that's just how I personally feel I'm sure others may feel differently about it and that's fine
was searching for this comment, thanks for explaining it. Feel absolutely the same, need more upvotes
I think Matt kuwata used Edward Cullen's as a reference like GOD DAMN HE'S GLOWING TOO
I just had the same thought!
Urban horror story in the making
Unfortunately even outside of Japan people complain about how girls look on these dating apps even for the same reasoning only difference is what is filtered change.
3:17 this one is straight up nightmare fuel
8:14 she was a big girl before she had surgery, everything from the waist down is natural

There's not enough drugs to convince me that that's a good idea for a beauty trend.
I choked as she put up the picture it's giving giraffe
This is what it must be like to look at Barbie dolls whilst enduring an LSD trip gone bad.
Have to admit, I came into this already having a comment planned "Still not as bad as ganguro/manba/yamanba" thinking it couldn't be worse than that. Now that I have seen the video, I think I have to give up on using that comment.
Wait why is thoses fashion styles as worse as this ?? Sorry if i sounded rude
I felt the same way. I was looking for more comments like this cause I know I’m not the only one who felt weird with this video.
