Lost my wallet in Manhattan one time. The guy who found it called a number that was in my wallet, got my number from that friend, called and texted that he found my wallet and met me at a convenient spot. All my cash was there and he wouldn't take a reward. Restored my faith in humanity a bit.
I did this in Los Angeles. I found someone’s wallet but they didn’t have a phone number so I found the address on their drivers license. I drove to the address to return the wallet but they weren’t home and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it there so I left a note with my name and number. They called about an hour later and told me they had some emergency and left in such a hurry that they forgot their wallet. I drove it to them and they treated me like I had taken something. They went through the whole thing to make sure I didn’t take anything before letting me leave. I got a halfhearted thank you for my efforts too 😂
I always forgot that umbrellas and bicycles are the most stolen things in Japan. The man asking politely to rob the convenience store really shows reality is weirder than fiction.
I worked at a GameStop years ago and a guy tried to resell a used copy of a game that he had just bought from us hours before. And for some reason he was shocked that he wasn’t getting back more money?? 😂
I worked for EB Games who was under GameStop and I have had this happen. I just went "Do you have your receipt?" and he was "Uh no I threw it away." I went "I remember you, just let me reprint it and return it for you." He was like "wait you can do that?" "I'm the only one on today so yeah." Dude then remembered me a few years later when I was working elsewhere XDDD
Same story only at Staples. Dude walked in, went to the back. Picked up a printer and brought it up to the front saying he would like to return it and he didn’t have the receipt (was fine with store credit).
The guy who tried to get arrested was probably homeless and looking for a way to live that provides food and shelter. Thats probably the lowest anyone could feel. Poor guy
That's true. I thought it might have been what he thought his only option to get a break from work would be, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was this. Sadly.
Right? I was thinking the same thing. Cause for someone homeless, getting a roof over your head and 3 square meals a day doesn't sound that bad. And I've met rather polite homeless people as well. Usually they come in asking if we have free samples or free water, and if I have to say no they say, 'well thank you' and walk out. It's those homeless that I feel bad for. Cause they're people like you are me, but either are suffering from mental problems or are on hard times.
I kinda remember a case like that when covid broke out? A criminal walked up to the police station and punched an officer. When asked why, he said he needed some place safe from covid. 😅
The ice cream thief, the watermelon thief, the woman who let her son die, the backward to the original shop thief and polite robber man is literally all manga stories to think of
Most countries offer dental work to inmates for free, so that's a famous American old man who robbed a bank for ONE dollar, then waited there politely while he asked them to call the cops so he could get arrested. Only felons in America get dental work done, so he had to arm rob them to make sure it was a felony, the amount didn't matter so he only asked for one dollar. I honestly think he got the charge dropped and a dentist fixed his mouth for free in the end. Innocent criminals are always so quirky.
Now hold on, in my years of watching true crimes documentaries, that last guy was smart, and I hope many other who are suffering from mental health issue take notes from this guy. Instead of going down a full dark route. Sometimes, it's the small crimes with no drama that is the best way to get help these days.
Don't assume it was mental health that drove him to it. It could just as easily be a case of he was about to become homeless and hadn't been able to find another job, so rather than ASK for a help (due the shame of failure) he tried to commit a crime so he could go to gaol and have food and shelter. And possibly the opportunity for rehabilitation back into the community (food, shelter, a job, etc) after committing a 'crime'. It's actually a pretty smart thing to do if that's the case.
@@silkvelvet2616honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if it was a combination of both mental illness and incoming homelessness. They're pretty correlated as is, anyway!
I feel like the sweets guy might have been saying he doesn't remember what he took from where. It sounded like bro just went "Oh that was absolutely me. But was that the house with the good jelly candy or the chalky ice cream?"
Aki: "I'm not going to go as dark as I usually do" Litterally 1 minute later: "so they found the corpse of her son on the futon in her appartment and it seems she cut his neck before of after he died..." 🤭👌
Lmao at my old job we sometimes get shop lifters trying to get refunds with our pretty unique merchandise as soon as you ask for their receipt they leave saying 'they'll look for it' and never come back, mostly leaving the items on the desk too
The speaker guy forgot to quick save before attempting sell stolen goods and did not want to load a hours old save. He should know better, always go to the thieves' guild to sell stolen goods.
As a worker at a shop that also dealt with buying and selling used things- we had a similar experience of somebody stealing from us, only to then a few days later, attempt to sell those items back to us. They even left our price tags on them still. I still laugh about it to this day.
It doesn’t surprise me a country as socially wound tight as Japan is where they’re not even allowed to go up to 2 from 1 it really doesn’t shock me that they go from 1 straight to 100 when it comes to things such as crime. Also as much as I love visiting Japan their justice system is one of the many reasons I would never live there

Hi, the flashing text is rather distracting. I know it's brought over from TikTok and Instagram,I believe, and was meant to emphasize what was being said, but it was just too much. If the text isn't going to be done in a way that would help those who actually need captions (in which, I would figure just writing the words out in normal sentences would be better and easier for them to read), can a vote, perhaps, be taken regarding keeping them? Maybe I'm the odd one out and everyone else loves them, but it made that opening segment so hard to pay attention to (and I'd love to be able to watch the editing that went into these videos, not just listen to them). Sorry if this makes me sound like a jerk or I'm being rude, that's definitely not my intention.
12:12 Imagine if he's a worker at a black company, only he can't bring himself to quit his job, so he figured the company would fire him if he got arrested for something.
America's Dumbest Criminals TV show had a story where a criminal steals a guy's beeper from his home. Suddenly the cop and the victim get this idea. Hey, let's call the beeper/pager, sure enough the thief calls the number and traces him back to his house. Only in the 1990s could this happen.
The convenience shop 'robber' might just be actibg like he'd rob it so that he could get arrested in hopes of a roof over his head and a meal. It's sadly a real issue for the elderly for whom pensions aren't enough anymore. 😢
the last one reminds me of the man who was sick but didn’t have healthcare so he attempted to rob a bank so that he would get arrested and promptly be treated for his illness
12:04 There was a news story in Hong Kong: Two old men living on the street robbed the same convenience store with plastic knives because they both wanted to go to jail to live and eat for free.
Oh my gods, the polite robber.... I bet he'd lost his job, couldn't find another, and was about to become homeless, so he thought robbing a combini would get him food and lodging for a while...
@ImRezaF exactly. One can never really understand the motivations of someone committing (trying to) a crime in that manner. The clincher was the knife he never even got out. And doing such a thing was less humiliating than actually asking for help.
I think the old lady with her dead son corpse shouldn't have been charge. Like you said she could've suffer dementia and probably couldn't remember to call for help. Until many days later when she report a foul smell.

I've heard that some homeless purposely commit a crime so they can go to jail and have a place to stay and food to eat... it's quite a sad thing... idk if it's still a thing to do though.
My favorite is one of these: A guy tried to rob a konbini with a pair of nosetrimmer scissors with rounded points. He told the clerk to not move and hand over the money. When the clerk said they couldn't do that since they would break the order not to move if they were to hand over the money, and if they didn't move they couldn't hand over the money. While the robber got confused the clerk fled the store and since the robber couldn't open the cash box he left as well and was still caught by a patrolling cop. A store manager tried to rob his own store and when the staff recognized him he went for the "eh haha you um passed the test, that's right it was a test and you passed it, the test that you just passed" as the staff called the police. And let's not forget the guy wielding a hammer that went into a 7-11 and demanded "Give me your money! You got money, right?", to which the clerk responded "We don't.". No point in trying to rob a place that got no money, so the robber just left.
