I can’t even tell you how many times I ask my students, “HOW’S YOUR PUTTING?!” And, they answer with, “IT’S NOT GREAT, but can we work on the DRIVER today?!”
When you consider that putting is 35-40% of the game it’s shocking how little time golfers spend working to IMPROVE THEIR PUTTING! Elite golfers on the other hand dedicate at least 40% of their practice time to putting so it’s not surprising that they have GREAT RESULTS on the greens!

Finally found (and finally understood the importance of) the perfect long game setup routine (I am now automatic). Then I could not understand why my Putting was streaky?! Thanks Andrew! Very nice video and has straightened out my setup ideas! I wonder if you could follow it up with another putting video on green reading and overall pre shot routine (I. e. Assuming good setup and basic stroke already covered in this video)? Of course there are loads of different routines out there, but there may be some generic advice you give your students? Sorry if you’ve already done this and I missed it 😀

Sorry I missed this! I probably won’t get to this one. So I thought I’d give you some thoughts for a bad hat and free bowl of soup!!
Key for me isn’t so much reading the green. It’s not about being perfect with putting - Rather, focus on the process rather than the result!
**How good was your speed?
**Did you strike the putt well?
**Did it sound good off the face?
Plenty of vids on YT on your reading putts suggestion! But it’s often the little things (the simple things) that go a miss with so many amateurs who are obsessed with finding the right line!!
Great putters are highly focused on SPEED!!! Which of course affects your start line. Hit a bunch of putts without any other concern but contact and speed. Miss/make is irrelevant! Was the process good!

Thanks Andrew. Definitely agree about speed. Most of my 3 putt greens come from going too far past the hole on the first putt - and then not being bold enough with the next one coming back.

Hi, this gripping instruction saves me 2-4 strokes on the green per round! My golf fellows tell me that now the heel of my putter is higher than its toe. So:
a. am I overdoing it?
b. fitting my putter?
c. disregard their comments?

Take ONE ball to the practice putting green. Alternate 15ft and 30 ft putts to different holes - up hill/down hill/side hill etc. (5 Steps - drop a ball/10 Steps - drop a ball) It’s that simple and transferable to the course. Also, HOLE OUT! Play 9 holes - How many three putts? (18) is par - can you break par!? Then compete with a friend for lunch!!
