Improving LOW POINT Control through KINESTHETIC RESPONSE!!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- "kinesthetic response" captures how movement in one part of the body, like the arms, can naturally and dynamically engage the rest of the body. Despite the usual kinetic chain sequence, this kinesthetic response allows the body to adapt and move fluidly in response to the arm movements.
If you’ve struggled to contort your body into positions that you see with tour players then consider trying something different! In this video I explain how the arms play a vital role in shifting the low point forward!
I hope it helps!

I’ve been playing golf since I was in my 30s ! I’ve watched tons of you tubes and yours are by far the easiest to follow!excellent, I mean excellent!!!
That means a great deal Brent! My goal has been to keep things simple and to help golfers increase their enjoyment of the game! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
This saved my iron game right now. Thx. The separation left arm/left chest in arm swing helped me.
I’m glad to hear the video helped Richard!

Thanks Coach! You are really helping me rebuild my golf swing after a 5-year layoff. Your methodology feels much more natural to me than any other technique I've ever tried.
Great to hear, thanks for the comment and welcome aboard! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Your instructions are a real eye opener to me, thanks a lot
Glad you like them! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
As a coach/teacher myself, I must say Andrew is an OUTSTANDING teacher! He has a great understanding of motor learning. The nugget on the body rotating in response to the arms is GOLD. Reminds me of Manuel De La Torre’s teaching. Love the videos, keep up the great work!
It’s always wonderful to get a positive comment from a peer. Thank you sir!

This is great, thank you. And yes, it definitely resonates with me. I think I was experiencing a lot of what you are describing when I went out at the end of the day yesterday. There’s an elevated par three, and I hit a four iron beautifully. I think released the club in a very natural way and then thought let’s do that again. The problem is that I tried four more times to repeat the shot and all I ended up doing was hitting behind the ball and I shanked one to the right. I think it’s because of what you are describing, meaning I think I got my arms locked behind me and then over rotated my hips. I’m going to concentrate on what you’re talking about in this video and getting my hands and arms working down and forward .I’m confident that’s going to help. For some reason, I think I do what you’re describing fairly naturally with my 60° wedge and my pitching wedge, and most of the time with my nine and eight iron. The problem comes in with the longer irons. For some reason, I’m not able to re-create that same phenomenon of the arms dropping down and forward. Anyway, this really did resonate with me and I can’t wait to get out there and work on the drills you’re demonstrating. Cheers.
Matt, thanks for the great comment! A lot of salient points. You’re clearly grasping the concept and putting it to work! Thanks for watching and welcome aboard!

Great content. I feel like you are taking to me:) have always fought the chicken wing. I thought it was do to my arms working faster than my torso. But after hearing you and also noticing that often I make the best solid crisp contact with the ball during a punchout shots…. I realized that on my punchouts I am thinking arms only to ball. When I went to range and started working on “longer distance punchouts” I finally realize what it means to allow one’s body to react to the swinging of the club. Great job in how you show and more importantly explain the feels vs the reals. Thank you!
Feels v Reals!!! You got it, well done!

Great video! I really enjoy your golf insight.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Hi Andrew, this is one of the best videos ever! 😢 Your explanation is plausible, simple and comprehensible. For me, the arms and hands in relation to the body are the key to good golf shots.
If an expert can explain to an amateur in an understandable way why something works, then he is a real teacher.
Jurgen - Thanks for the kind comment. I’m glad that the video resonated with you. Welcome aboard!

Ok, as I golf with my buddies their eyes roll as I remind my self out loud to articulate and kinestheticate -- then take their money.......
Another video to be played over a few times without the ball then to the range. Thank You!
Kinestheticate!!! I love it! Thanks for the comment and welcome aboard. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Your instructions are completing changing my golf game!
Tim, it’s been fun to see your game improve!! More speed with less effort is medicine that everyone should take! Unfortunately most golfers don’t know how! I’m glad that you have!

Andrew, you explain things in a manner that we understand completely! And the content is spot on! Working well for me.
Great to hear! 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Thanks I was doing and feeling exactly what you explained was wrong with the negative result. I finally got it thanks to your instructions. Great coaching.
Glad it helped! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
New one from Andrew. It must be Saturday!
Yes sir!! 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
In my coaching session this morning, this is exactly what we were working on. As a result, i began hitting my 6 iron 160-165 yards. Never hit a 6 iron like that. And accurate as well. Andrew, this will be this weeks program for my driving range sessions. Thanks for the great video content. Marty
You’re welcome Marty!! Get after it!

Holding a position to create a motion… been there done that.. posing for positions and trying to duplicate with motions… any thoughts on teaching around front, center and rear post golfers… Adams/ Rowles.?
They’re phenomenal coaches!! But the best instructor in the world has always been and will always be the golf ball! Methods, theories and philosophies are all window dressing. If you’re working with a coach that helps ‘you’ improve ‘your’ contact, direction, distance or any combination of those things then get after it!! It’s about finding ‘your’ swing not THE swing!! Thanks for the comment.

Hi Nr.1 again a super video, Merci
Glad you liked it! 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
my right shoulder is psyco...it wants to start the swing by rushing down to the ball...it's so dominant that near the end of a round when I'm tired it will do it on some of my chips and even putts....so the question is, how do I start the downswing in such a manner that this doesn't happen...telling myself to hold the torso back as the downswing begins is much harder than one would think...
I would like to be included in that question/answer please.
It could help to feel like you're swinging to 1st base and hitting 7pm on the ball.
Ah, the dreaded ‘Psycho Trail Shoulder!’ I would bet that you’re not getting enough ‘depth’ at the top with your trail hip & shoulder!! You need to create enough space to allow your arms to win the race. Try hitting balls off a tee with your right foot BACK! This will effectively ‘detain’ that psycho shoulder!! 🤣
Get after it. A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@@AndrewEmeryGolf thanks!
@@AndrewEmeryGolf Thx Andrew...going to the range today to practice imprinting the feeling of the club going down while I attempt to hold the back to the target. I sure do hope that you are getting all the rewards you hope for from your online work... and thanks again Coach!
Love this! Now how about the backswing- are you still feeling more of ‘swinging the arms back and up’ or is it more of a blend of body rotation + lifting the arms?
Definitely a blend of body pivot (Horizontals) and Arm Swing (Verticals). I think I’ll be doing a video on the backswing again soon. Such an important part of the swing!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
My drives still with a good grip occasionally slice.
Back to the target longer, twist the face sooner!!! The Driver more than any club in the bag requires more time to align correctly at impact! Get after it!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Great lesson. I’m a lefty but play righty. Love thinking of coming through with the left arm and hand. Question: after impact the toe of the club turns over?
To hit a draw, yes! Fade release patterns or shut-face golfers require less rotation.
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Good day I have just started playing golf but am struggling with my swing and contact of the golf ball. I tend to always feel like I am coming up too early on my golf shot thereby either hitting the ball only a few meters or missing the ball all together. Really frustrated.
Jonathan, invest in some golf lessons! You need help with fundamentals. RUclips can an only help you so much. Even if it’s a local pro with some group coaching it would be very helpful! I’m here if you need me. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
I have recently discovered your videos and appreciate the unique perspective that you bring to golf instruction. I believe that I need to incorporate this feeling of moving my left arm indecently of my torso's rotation both through transition and impact.Presently I have about 6 degrees of shaft lean at impact and would like a little more. I have always understood that the hands should exit left post impact. Is this the case if one incorporates slinging the arms through impact, provided that the body rotates well through impact as well? Re transition, would it be fair to say as one recenters at the top of the backswing and then moves pressure forward at the start of the downswing, one almost feels a "surfing" feeling? During this short moment in time the back and pelvis remain turned to the target and the arms drop simply due to gravity with no intentional speed added to the arms during the "surf"? Once the arms reach delivery this is when speed is added to the arms and they are slung through impact as a result of the front leg pressing hard into the ground? Thanking you in advance for your response and I am looking forward to your upcoming videos.
Yes to questions 1 & 2 and, No, to question 3. You need to feel speed with your arms earlier in the transition.
Peak arms speed is just below P6 at which point we ‘brake’ the lead leg and lead arm to create angular momentum. Remember creating speed is as much about deceleration as it is acceleration!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Great video. Would it be wrong to present the downswing in two parts. Part 1 is what you make happen. And Part 2 is what you let happen.
Part 1 is what training is for. Part 2 is the examination!! Taking a test without studying is a kin to a disaster.
A very salient observation sir!! Love it! Best, A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Will it work with the driver ? Thanks
Yes sir!! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
I’m probably way off base, but I have found for me, using my breathing to reduce the tension in my arms and upper body has helped me get the feeling that my arms “drop” from the top of the backswing, my lead arm slides down my chest and the club “pulls” my body around. I inhale on the backswing and exhale on the way down. I find it hard to maintain a lot of tension while I am exhaling. Am I on the right track?
Robert, I’ve seen and heard about everything! Your discovery is what I usually suggest to my opponents on the first tee any time I’m playing against them for money! 🤣
However, you have found something important because “It works for you” and that is ALL that matters at the end of the day. Breathing is important, it helps you relax so it makes perfect seen to me!
Best, A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Andrew, is this a good swing for us seniors, still pretty flexible and in shape here at 69?
It’s good for everyone! Moving the arms faster doesn’t mean not using your body correctly. Quite the contrary! It’s about sequencing your arm swing with your body dynamics!!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Great insight! It’s almost like working backwards to get the feel.
Question: I seem to plateau once I move into my 6 & 5 iron, the ball speed and distance are tight. Is that due to equipment or me as the lower clubs give me the distance and height I’m looking for? I do feel like those clubs feel heavier thus not as easy to swing through like my 8 iron. Thanks!
If you can’t hit a 5 iron 175 yards and hold the ball to a middle pin position it shouldn’t be in your bag! Replace 5i, 4i with hybrids if you don’t have them already. It will transform your long iron play. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Am I correct that on the downswing the arms should be pulling the body around instead of the other way around (I.e. the body rotates and pulls the arms through)? Also, I noticed that shoulders are square at impact to the ball and not open. Am I correct on that?
It’s more nuanced than that Jason! There is a kinetic sequence that is measurable and data driven. That evidence shows that the lower body initiates the downswing, followed by the upper body, arms and club. This is irrefutable. However that knowledge and the attempt to do this causes tremendous problems for most golfers!
While there is a real sequence in golf I like to talk about the FEEL sequence which engages the arms earlier. If you can de-elevate and re-position the arms DOWN as you change direction it’s going to essentially marry your segments kinetically!
I hope that makes sense!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@@AndrewEmeryGolfI get it now. Many thanks.
I am the prime example of that arm being pinned and making contact so horribly like you portray at 4:50

My apologies Donna. I’m still playing catch up with emails. I just sent you details. Thanks for reaching out and I look forward to the opportunity of coaching you. Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@@AndrewEmeryGolf Thanks! I’ll look for the details.
👏👍👏👍
Thanks! 🙏🏻
So, is this kind of a SLINGING motion?
… slinging the clubhead before your right shoulder gets to the ball?
This makes a lot of sense, but …
It’s so hard to keep the upper body back 🙄
It’s highly likely that you need to get the trail hip and shoulder more behind you at the top! That’s the big challenge for most who feel like they can’t keep their back to the target as they change direction.
I would say the vast majority of my students don’t pivot well in the backswing! Try hitting balls with your trail foot back to give your arms a pocket. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
