Thanks for sharing this. Don't bash yourself for all the obsession over different lighting setups and such. That testing and tinkering is your learning process, and it will pay off in the long run if you keep doing this stuff. 2 things, if you are open to feedback. 1) Your practical lights are flickering in a really distracting way. You can buy a few of those new Aputure B7Cs. I have one and love it. Or you could tinker with your shutter speed. There are tons of videos about eliminating flicker here on RUclips. 2) If you have the space you might want to move your softbox slightly to your left. The light is nice and soft, yes, but its also super flat being almost directly in front of you. I hope this helps in some small way.
Hey Pat thanks for the awesome feedback. I have another video about my desk setup where I actually asked for help to fix the flickering so that’s been fixed going forward. Hey @Joey, great video, thanks. Quick question. You know how you had the camera up top (where you were showing the iPods, etc.), is there a way to easily switch from your main Sony camera to the phone while you are shooting, and does the phone need to be plugged into something to switch between devices?

@@Joey.Alford , awesome I greatly appreciate u a lot. The only plug adapters I have on this camera is the HDMI & the Multi Charge Adapter. This help means a lot. Several ppl have told me it’s possible but I can’t figure it out
You put acoustic panels everywhere but where you should have, directly in front of you, behind the mic to stop sound reflection off of that wall. That is going to resonate the most. Put some foam there and give it a test. Honestly for a mic with short range, there is often little to no need for acoustic panels anywhere but directly in front of you when speaking.
This is new info to me! To be honest the panels are more for general echo around the room vs sound quality with the shotgun mics. Even just taking a phone call in the office echoed the whole apartment before the panels.
@@Joey.Alford If you stop the initial sound bounce from behind the panel, there is little to no need for the rest. If you are silencing other sound in the room, the other walls definitely make sense. A lot of folks do podcasts and go overboard with it. The mic itself makes a huge difference too. I use a Shure SM7B as well as a Rode Podmic and both have such a short pick up range, little sound dampening in the room is required. My Rode board removes the remaining background noise.
Big difference eh? So I really like the godox specifically because of the soft box and overall brighter output. That said the led panel can be battery powered so I usually use it if I need to be mobile. Different tools for different jobs y’a know

The screw is too small to fit on the Rode mic holder. Wondering if you ran into this same issue and what did you do to fix it? I purchased the items directly from your links.
Oh hey Elliot! I actually feel terrible I didn’t even remember that I used an adapter screw with the mic. The mic has a 3/8 screw and the arm is 1/4. So sorry I’ve had that adapter in there for years and completely forgot about it. www.amazon.com/dp/B019RQX5QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_XCZ84192JS1H0QGYFDF4

Nice Video . especially the overhead Phone .. Clever! ( video looked great also!)
Thanks and yeah I think it does the trick for sure!!
Thanks for the video. What is the plate/mount used @1:49 ? I noticed it's different to the method used by DSLR video shooter.
Yeah check out the other video on my channel about it. It’s Called all in one RUclips setup!
really enjoyed this video dude. i have been creating content for around 6 months. Each video is getting better however, the rhode Micro is mounted on top of my camera... going to take your advice for the next video.
This is a dope setup!
what's the brand of the phone pole that you use? does it come with the ball mount already?
Great studio setup! 👍👍
Thank you!!
You have a nice office set-up/ Really neat! 0:43, I'm that person, lol!
Hahahahaha
If you want to use a Rode Mic or similar with your phone - you’re going to need a trs to trrs adapter - otherwise it’ll look cool without being useful.
I didn’t realize this until after I acquired my Rode mic and the adapter for under $10.
Hey @Joey, great video, thanks. Quick question. You know how you had the camera up top (where you were showing the iPods, etc.), is there a way to easily switch from your main Sony camera to the phone while you are shooting, and does the phone need to be plugged into something to switch between devices?
Hey! I just recorded on both and then switch between cameras in editing. Not sure how you would switch back and forth in real time. Sorry
@@Joey.Alford thanks for the reply, and no problem. Keep up the great work.
JHEEZ bruh that setup is clean
LOL calling me out at 0:49
Lmao I guess you’re the 1 that came for that hahaha

I need some BIG Help here. Hope u can throw something together in your BIG NICE WORKING Brain there 4 me lol. I'm subscribing to your channel & dropping a like. TY 4 This awesome video
Ok let me do some googling today and I’ll try and come and to this with answers! Thanks for watching my friend!
I really love your setup
Appreciate it man thank you
wild how a slight move of the mic makes that huge of a difference!! How would you compare the godox light vs the led panel light?
Big difference eh? So I really like the godox specifically because of the soft box and overall brighter output. That said the led panel can be battery powered so I usually use it if I need to be mobile. Different tools for different jobs y’a know
@@Joey.Alford ayeee thanks man! I know alotta people were buying the aperture 120d mkII or even the 300x but that thing is crazy expensive lol. your set up is dope I appreciate you sharing! keep it up man!
Yeah dude super expensive. I think the people at the level where they can make a video on an expensive light like that and make the money back in Adsense immediately are smart. Unfortunately that’s not where I’m at so the godox is good enough for me. Also I don’t even know if I would notice a difference tbh hahaha
@@Joey.Alford hahaa Facts!!!
@@Joey.Alford future video lighting comparison!

Great video man ! I`ll like to know which stand do you use for the Godox SL60W
Thanks! The classic Neewer cheap stand
