Thanks for sharing this. Don't bash yourself for all the obsession over different lighting setups and such. That testing and tinkering is your learning process, and it will pay off in the long run if you keep doing this stuff. 2 things, if you are open to feedback. 1) Your practical lights are flickering in a really distracting way. You can buy a few of those new Aputure B7Cs. I have one and love it. Or you could tinker with your shutter speed. There are tons of videos about eliminating flicker here on RUclips. 2) If you have the space you might want to move your softbox slightly to your left. The light is nice and soft, yes, but its also super flat being almost directly in front of you. I hope this helps in some small way.
Hey Pat thanks for the awesome feedback. I have another video about my desk setup where I actually asked for help to fix the flickering so that’s been fixed going forward. But yes I agree I hate it too, I appreciate the input! 2nd the soft box is unfortunately as far to the left as possible given the lack of space between my desk and wall for the light stand 👎🏼 I know typically 45° from the subject is what you’re looking for, unfortunately with the space the way I have it setup now, that isn’t possible. DIY softbox, using the same APUTURE that you got, and I need to see, which lens is better for this space with Canon M50, between: Canon 20mm 2.8 and Canon 18-135 3.5, which is not super sharp, but, it's wide enough for my needs.

Very nice set up! I’ve recently moved to and all-in-one desk mounted set up and it has made a ton of difference. Also, great use of such a small space!
Hey @Joey, great video, thanks. Quick question. You know how you had the camera up top (where you were showing the iPods, etc.), is there a way to easily switch from your main Sony camera to the phone while you are shooting, and does the phone need to be plugged into something to switch between devices?
Joey, great video. I'm looking at a similar setup. Two questions: 1. The kink for the led light panel went to a godox light not a panel, can you tell me what panel you use? 2. I'm debating what mic setup to use, do I go with a shotgun and friction arm or USB desktop mic? Or is there a desktop shotgun?
Thanks for watching! 1, I’ll get on that link issue right now thanks for pointing that out! And 2 it depends where you’ll be setup most of the time. If you’re always in a desk-like environment and you don’t mind syncing the audio and video clips in editing then a USB mic is the way to go. If you see yourself vlogging or wanting to record anything outside of your office then a shotgun mic is probably a better suit. Hope this helps!
Honestly would not have watched you in the cheaper setup at the end. The sound is terrible. Most important thing for every video is lighting and sound. No one will watch without good sound.
I actually sort of agree with you. I used my laptop speakers to edit this video and I didn’t notice any issues. Watched the video on my phone pre-upload and it was good. It wasn’t until I rewatched it with headphones on after a few other comments the other day that I realized it sounds right fucked. Idk why that happened, I must’ve wrecked the audio settings in my editor because the raw clip doesn’t sound bad at all.
Great video, I own a a3000 and have been dealing with over heating issues, do you run into similar issues and what is your work around? Have you considered investing in a new camera and brand?
Thank you! Honestly no I haven’t considered it really. I came from an A6500 which would occasionally overheat. For that camera, opening the flip screen would help cool it down. Now that I shoot on the a7iii I have yet to run into overheating. That said, I live in southern Canada where it doesn’t get awfully hot.. so keep that in mind

i can relate to the perfectionism and SH*t
i am to .. we're so much alike..
i mostly ends up not perfecting things still..
It’s a gift and a curse... only way to get better is to finish though unfortunately. Done is better than perfect
What is that black thing in the top right corner?
Love this and im going to make one
Awesome! Good luck!
what's the brand of the phone pole that you use? does it come with the ball mount already?
Your video shows lighting and sound matter more than the camera.
💚💚💚💚 SO GLAD I RAN ACROSS YOUR VIDEO TURNING MY 3rd 🛁 INTO MY. 🎥 SETUP THANK SO MUCH 💚can’t wait to see if the over ARM works for beauty products ...THANKYOU💚

This is life changing for me! THANK YOU
Like the setup raely nices and your tips can help to over spent ecspensive gear
Very nice set up! I’ve recently moved to and all-in-one desk mounted set up and it has made a ton of difference. Also, great use of such a small space!
Isn’t it the best?! Happy you enjoyed the vid thanks for the input 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hello. Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏👏
I appreciated the comparison at the end of the video.
Hey @Joey, great video, thanks. Quick question. You know how you had the camera up top (where you were showing the iPods, etc.), is there a way to easily switch from your main Sony camera to the phone while you are shooting, and does the phone need to be plugged into something to switch between devices?
Hey! I just recorded on both and then switch between cameras in editing. Not sure how you would switch back and forth in real time. Sorry
@@Joey.Alford thanks for the reply, and no problem. Keep up the great work.
Loved the mic test!!!
Thanks Julien!
dope set up
Is the link for the panel light still incorrect?
Fixed thank you!
Very nice setup, I love that you included the budget version, very helpful.
Happy you like it! Yeah I want people to know you definitely don’t need all this stuff
Very detailed and straightforward 👌 I love the comparisons for changing different aspects in the setup.
Thanks bro! I was hoping the comparisons would help sell the points so I’m stoked that you liked 😎
@@Joey.Alford the mic location comparison was like night and day and I'm watching on mobile
Ok sick! Happy that the results translated through mobile too
That's an awesome set up, nice touch 👍
I appreciate it thank you!
Thanks for the video. What is the plate/mount used @1:49 ? I noticed it's different to the method used by DSLR video shooter.
Yeah check out the other video on my channel about it. It’s Called all in one RUclips setup!
*How'd you get the Soft Box over the Small Light?*
I literally placed it on top lol. No tape, bracket or Velcro. I draped it over it and gravity did the rest hahaha
That said, I live in southern Canada where it doesn’t get awfully hot.. so keep that in mind
whoa this guy's setup is so nice =) fam your content is inspirational
Hahahah touché! Appreciate it homie thank you
