Love that the magic of editing showed the behind the scene!!
It was hilarious 10/10
I can't wait to see the studio tour when everything is done ALREADY LOVING IT
For the background: Not a TV, a projector. Then just add physical texture. And throw some footage on it. Slowmo or acrobatic drone stuff would be unique and you have it already.
Or get one of those Samsung ones you place on the floor and it projects upwards onto a wall
That’s a good idea and better than doing green screen work.
That setup would legit make me very happy. I love the feeling of being unencumbered, yet still having everything I need organized and ready to go at all times.
BTW, one thing I've done with mine that's soooo baller is including my ATEM switcher, all the lights, all the cameras, monitors...etc. All powered through smart outlets. So I walk in and say, Hey Google, turn on my studio and it all comes on. It's insane. It's equally awesome saying Hey Google, turn off my studio.
What swticher do you use with Google?
When remodeling an old house the order of work is to start with redoing the roof, followed by window replacements. redo all the plumbing, redo all the electrical, redo the entire ventilation/heating/AC system, upgrade exterior wall thermal insulation and sound suppression before ending with dry walling.
so when does the flooring step in?
When you were setting up, it reminded me of a dentist’s office. The articulating arms look like the kind that have drills hooked to the end. Very cool setup and anxious to see how it turns out.
That's why it seemed creepy!
Watching the evolution of the channel is so entertaining. I remember all the different apartments and living spaces. The added new characters, the dogs, the new gear.... everything about it is awesome. Gene you're just so likable.
Love this! I have to constantly setup and pack away my filming setup for pieces to camera because my quietest room for filming is also a family room, so I'd love a quicker solution. i had been thinking of a pole on an office chair wheel base, but I wonder if I could get something like this to work instead... cheers!
Do a projector for the background. Span the whole wall! It would for sure be unique!
For some reason i felt so relax and good and just happiness watching that room Turing into a little studio that i will watch videos made in it for years to come.
Feels like witnessing history lol ❤️
Been waiting for this! This video is long overdue!
I can’t wait to see the finished product with the doors on the closet! Going to love the new setup.
I personally like the old RUclips studio better because it was a “detached space” which is golden to me! Anything detached is everything!
Bro this video just gave me “LIFE” and I’m not kidding. Greatly appreciate you showing/giving us inspiration of what can be 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
oh this is awesome! and so simple. I have a small space with work and home. This works! Happy New Year brother!
Slick set up! I'm looking forward to how it all comes together!
This video is awesome. How stable is the camera when it's on 3 (!!!) extension arms?
Should get a projector to blast as a background, that way you can do whatever visuals or colors you want without taking up more room.
I agree. It could give you some VR set options too!
I think that's a great solution Gene, look forward to seeing how you finalize it.
Nice idea, thanks for inspiring, always
You really have inspired me and changed my
Thinking on my RUclips journey
Yaaaa house stuff! It's liberating for sure
Congrats on finally taking down your Christmas Tree ahaha, we can't wait to see the finished setup!
DUDE!!! THANK YOU!!! - This is a great P.O.C. video - for a work or home space! Def buying a couple! So nice to have everything in the closet with the perfect lighting options - daytime w the added bounce looks amazing! as well as the option to make it dark and dramatic Yeo style. Just let G.U. keep the purple BG :)
Make a gear wall for your background! All floating shelves! Spot lights mounted from the ceiling out of frame so you can get that depth
I need this!!! Setting it up in the closet is genius. 🥂
Look like he is so excited to tell us
Appreciated that man
You crack me up man. Really enjoy your content
AMAZINGNESS! I NEED ONE!
I WANT THISSSSSS!!!!!
Iv'e been using more and more Area Swiss too. Thanks! I have never thought of bouncing a light off my shade. My dome takes up half of my room. Defiantly not shift the light when you make a jump cut the light will jump too.
Awesome setup :) Thanks :)
cool. looking forward for your next update!
That looks so good
Unalzi carries its own quick release plates nice closet setup 👍🏻😄
I'm drooling
This is such a cool idea!
sorry to hear about the leak. the trouble is real! got my house and thought it would just need the wallpaper stripped and a little skimming here and there... in the end the plaster had to go, then the electrics and finally the pipes... so I basically ended up back to brick and had to rebuild everything 🤦♂️
Love your new setup! I havent even watched the video yet but I know its going to be awesome! haha
I've done a similar thing with a sit stand electric desk and stuff clamped to that. The wobble isn't really a problem for me. I've an ultrawide monitor and a face camera and a top down camera. Still working out lighting.
Next channel.... STRIPPER POTATO JET, he flies around his room on his pole LOL. Nice setup, very cool!
ulanzi is juz getting crazier and crazier!!! Damn !
BRO!!! That transition got me! That was hilarious hahaha
Great video thanks! 😆
There are channels who do their version of an "all-in-one" stations, and then there is Potato Jet. Seriously, look at at his key light! Ugh so jelly, wish I had extra space to even have this kind of setup.
That's looking pretty cool! I definitely can related to tripping over lightstands and tripods, lol.
K probably the best piece of gear people need that has been made and reviewed.
Yesss, Potato Jet will be back for good! I really like compact settings, and a filmable closet puts it to another level :) I have built my one DIY-Pole with a 60l oil barel and a metal pipe in a concrete foundation. The rest is filled up with soil and even a few plants so my wife accepts it as decoration :) This massive weight also supports heavy boom pole w/o counterweight on just 14"-diameter with fitting connectors and superclamps. Too bad gear tree accesoires is for 43mm-poles, thats too large for me :(
Using your closet like that is a great use of space!!
I wonder if these accessories can use with the heavy duty light stands ?
That is the nicest youtube setup I've ever seen
Got me curious about a new setup! I'm diggin' it! Hate you are having plumbing issues! BUMMER! Good luck with that but looks like you got things under control!
Very nice setup!
Yea his setup is so nice
Four 72" monitors on the wall sync'd together for that Mandalorian type backdrop. You too could be on Tattooine, Daimyo...
great video! 👍
Looks similar to the mobile stand setup that Caleb Pike (DSLR Video Shooter) came up with 2 years ago. I have this same setup but on a stand with wheels based on Caleb's idea. I prefer that to the stripper pole. Cool setup though. I like that you were able to fit it in a closet.
Bkacground suggestion: Get a projector and play older videos of yours on the wall.
WHOA! Amazing setup! Does anyone know what that long stick light is that he used for the background?
I hate you - I totally didn’t expect to buy this but now I am 🥺 I prefer a black color option but black spray paint will have to do
Your test setup is better than my final setup... 😅
Interesting. Well done.
Love your videos question what model number is that color light you use in the video?
That TV in the background idea sounds like someone got inspired by the mixed reality video from last week.
Man that gear tree is sick. Too bad I have slanted ceilings but I love the concept!
Also i feel your pain on that leak! I had the same exact issue with my base boards and Dry wall this week 😔
Ulanzi makes some fun stuff!
What was the brand of the tube light you used to light your background? It looked a little different than the ones I am familiar with.
I just said "this is wild" to my cat who is sleeping in my studio. Such a dope concept!
That set actually looks amazing with the dark background and the tube light. I want that for ever in studio video lol
do you know what's that tube light called?
The background would be nice with some plants and a few lights ! (love your channel Gene !)
I've got that black adjustable shelving unit and it's a great computer desk 😉
Okey great one
Such a great solution to avoid building an ninja warriors course in your studio ;)
Oh man - the whole water leakage looks pretty frustrating - wish you good luck and strength with all the work to do..
Gosh, I also had a leak myself but I caught it as I could hear it then see the source. That gear tree does look useful but I'd like extra long arms for multiple lights . . Also gotta scrape the texture on my ceiling, the list keeps growing hah
Nice to see you.
It honestly looks like a solution looking for a problem to solve.. Or a dentist supply company said “Hey, what if we make it for cameras?”
i had the same idea on dentist chair.
i think this is the only time this apparatus will be portrait in this channel...
For my talking head setup I have 4 stands (2 lighting, audio/mic, camera) and I hate it - this is exactly what I need
I can't wait to get to the point of designing my own office space
Short throw projector baby!
0:36 you described my situation perfectly
The Shure looks great in the frame
Hi! Do RUclips know If i can use these arms in a tradicional c stand? With thia 3 point anchor?
while your house is in chaos, don't forget to pull a LAN cable between room so you can have good internet coveragr.
Just imaginr you can have a home NAS and you can edit your video anywhere in your home
What is the brand/model of the light stick that you use to add color to your background/shot?
A couple of my wildlife photographs would be a great background in your new studio....
Kinda cool. Not sure if it’s for me but love the innovative thinking
You definitely have to put some cameras in the background. Maybe a 3 shelf bookcase with classic cameras, workhorses and action cams. Just saying. Oh yeah don’t forget the orange led lighting to enhance it all. Welcome to home ownership and all the good ole repairs that come with it. 👍🏾
You NEED A 3D projected BG like The Volume from the Mandalorian Set. StageCraft should sponsor your studio. Or just get a big projector and keep everything locked down :)
Mann! I have 4 autpoles in my tiny space. Love those things but this looks like it would steal their lunch money!
What's the name of the strobe light that can output different colours please?
The closet wall is white, if you don't have a plan to put sound treatment on the closet wall, I'd just bounce the 300Dmk2 off that huge white wall. The Light Dome 2 is great, but always takes up all that space. That's just my thought. You got this.
"Stripper pole for the Videographer in you" ...LMAO
What was that light tube? Couldnt find it in your kits you linked?
Gene 2022... the Wingchun Master!
Potato gang 🛩🛩🛩
The movement of that tree is impressive
what light tube where you using ?
Since the Varipole is a quick latch system, could you do a side-by-side comparison between the two? Strength, cost, basic pros/cons, features, that sort of thing? Is one more budget friendly than the other?
Where can I find the same rgb light tube?
Big Likeee
That's actually pretty awesome. I always thought of Ulanzi as sort of a descent quality yet cheap-ish brand, but this looks solid as... a really solid thing.
Also, instead of a TV in the background, maybe go with a projector instead?
@Kevwe Patani ah, yeah fair point. But with the grid on the key it's perhaps less of a problem.
