  • It finally happened, the dreaded "Service Air Suspension" error message popped up on the 4th gen Ram Rebel. This truck has the 4" BDS suspension lift kit installed so that means NO WARRANTY work from the dealer, so were gonna attempt to fix this ourselves. If you have any suggestions, leave them down below in the comments!!!

    I fixed mine after not listening to the dealer. It was driving and my warning came on. Made it home, by the time I made it home, my rear driver side was down to the bump stops. Dealer wanted to replaced the valve solenoid and the compressor... I said no, that makes no sense, cuz the airbag still fills up or attempts to fill up until the compressor overheat sensor kicks in and the service air compressor warning comes in again. I ended up replacing the airbag; I went with arnott suspension because they warranty their products for life. And all was good until winter time in Canada. Then warning light came on again. This time I put in a bit of airline antifreeze; the same stuff truckers use. You put it in via the air intake for the system which is in behind the passenger side brake light. All is well so far. No issues, no warnings. Oh and after I replaced my airbag I went to the dealer and refilled the system with nitrogen.... It uses a closed loop nitrogen system to fill and empty your airbag, unless there is a leak in which it was draw in air until pressure gets too low and warning comes up again. This is no good in Canadian winters due to moisture so the airline antifreeze is highly recommended.

    Yeah the air ride is a fickle broad. I started having issues when it started getting super cold where I live. Question I have the other speedo they offered or did the ram rebel those years only have one style of speedo cluster or did they come with 2 options

    I got this once on a Grand Cherokee after an extremely cold stretch of weather in Western Pa, turned out to be the fuse. Probably due to the fact that the system isn’t sealed, which isn’t a bad thing. Without a dryer it would be almost impossible to keep moisture out.

  • @joeyharrison6690
    @joeyharrison6690 4 года назад

    There should be more than one fuse for the air ride. Did you check them all? Also might need to unconnect the battery. I saw a couple videos where they took out the small 10amp yellow fuse in front of the one you took out. And by that is a relay for the compressor. Good luck

  • @wayne2160
    @wayne2160 4 года назад +4

    Try putting the exact same fuse you took out go to the auto parts store or order one online but put the exact same one you pulled out the longer style one not the short ones you got. If that doesn’t fix it then you have a short. One big reason I got coil overs on my Rebel I didn’t want to deal with that air ride suspension stuff!

    Be honestly with you, I live California, Sacramento, I have 2018 rebel with air ride, also I do the BDS lift kit about a year ago but for last two month Dec. and Jan. is little cold temperature at night time, about 45F, in the every morning I start the truck, the air suspension light will pop up on dash, and I can't not do adjustment low and high anymore, I need turn off and turn on couple times to let it go back to normal if I'm lucky. This month the air suspension is ok, I guess the temperature is not very cold anymore? But if let me choose, I won't ever buy the truck with air suspension any more

      Wimya I have not got mine fixed yet. My service message is on too. I took it to the dealer and they told me it wouldn’t be covered under warranty and since there is 3 messages it would take 3 hours to diagnose the problem @ $165 an hour. Then $165 an hour for who knows how many hours to fix it. I told them to get bent. When I get a chance I’m gonna take it somewhere and have it put on the computer and see what’s up. Hopefully it’s nothing to major and I can repair myself. Also my 4 wheel drive won’t engage but there isn’t a message up for that.

It was super cool when I first got the rebel but its definitely lost its charm and the fact that it makes everything stupidly expensive to modify is another reason to ditch it not to mention i had to put a kill switch on it to keep in off road mode over 25mph (not for highway use obviously but just for some 35mph cruising down the beach etc.) Anyhow good luck with it. @@sosavic I haven't seen anything available on the market and it will certainly void your warranty. You have to design a simple circuit fused on the send and return for protection. It will essentially disable the air ride and lock it into any mode you want. Look up on RUclips about removing the fuse for the air ride system. That will get you started in the right direction. Hello, There is a very good possibility that the the short fuse you installed isn’t making any connection. Get the proper fuse. Also, typically when a 40 amp fuse blows it has blown for a reason! I’m guessing it’s the fuse for the compressor. Many questions that need to be answered!!! When did the lift kit get installed? Who installed it? With only 19,000 miles on the truck I’m willing to bet your guys that installed the Lift Kit have messed up your Air Suspension System! Get them to sort it out for you! Hope this was helpful.

    99% of the 18 wheelers you see on the roads have air ride on all axles some even on the steering axle most will go 1 million miles with no or very few issues,and if something does go wrong it's usually a simple air leak or the air dryer and worst case airbag the last one I bought was 200$ compressor 600$ . This is a total ripoff probably chinese made junk and very poorly designed.The last truck i had 700,000 miles when I sold it original air bags and compressor.
