Hook in Mouth or Set the World Afire (the original studio recordings, not the remastered versions which suck) are certified bangers from this album, this era was Mustaine at the height of his life going off the rails, but he sure put out some gnarly, gritty music, I feel like that atmosphere never returned once he started to get his life together.

As far as I know, Dave wrote the music to this song when he heard about Cliff Burton's untimely death. He called his Mistress or Girlfriend (depending on the song), Diana, to help him through the pain of losing his friend and as the lyrics say: "You just laughed! Ha Ha! BITCH!!!!" her reaction was less than warm...😮. So he took the music he wrote in memory of his friend and penned the words to go with it about his dying relationship with Diana and made one BANGER of a track. One of my favorite songs by Megadeth. He had at least three songs about Diana that I know of (probably more though): "Wake Up Dead" from "Peace Sells...", this one from "So Far, So Good, So What?", and "Trust" off of "Cryptic Writings". All three are excellent tunes and I would recommend you check out the other two as well. ✌

Went to Clash Of The Titans several years ago. The show opened by Suicidal Tendencies. Then Testament, Megadeth and headliners Slayer. Megadeth had very bad sound and Dave's voice was like cutting through your ears. Bad day to forget your earplugs. I thought about leaving but decided to stay for Slayer who on the other hand had great sound and did a phenomenal show.
It was Jeff Young on the other guitar on In My Darkest Hour, Chuck Behler on drums and David Ellefson on bass. Young was replaced by the phenomenal Marty Friedman for the next album. BTW check out Marty Friedman and Jason Becker in Cacophony - Concerto. They can really shred. Unfortunately Jason Becker was diagnosed with ALS in 1989. Can't speak or move. Communicates with his eyes after a system his father invented. Still composes music though

I know you have heard this before but I love it that more and more young people are getting into music from my era. (I'm 54 ) I am partial to Megadeth, they're my fave thrash band. I like Metallica UP to Load, after that not so much. And... let's face it, neither Dave or James are singers but they are great for the style of their band. Megadeth's songs are written around Dave's rhythms and he hires great leads to round out the guitar sound. Dave is super talented and is capable of great solos as evidenced in many songs. Tornado of Souls and Darkest Hour are my absolute faves from Megadeth and I enjoyed your reaction. I saw below Hook in Mouth as a suggestion and that's a great choice... also ( and I don't know all that you've reacted to ) Take No Prisoners from Rust In Peace, Wake up Dead, She-Wolf, Skin of my Teeth, The Conjuring, Ashes in your Mouth. I also think ( based on how many MollyBoyTV vids I've watched ) that you would enjuoy Lucretia from Rust In Peace ( Masterpiece ) but I don't know if that one would get a bunch of views. I LOVE MEGADETH !!! Anywho... that's my 2-cents worth!

Out of Venice Beach California comes one of the most underrated heavy metal evolved from Punk Rock bands of all time.. you MUST react to Suicidal Tendancies "You can't bring me down" . The basist is a young Robert Trujillo before he joined Metallica. Rocky George is a madman on lead guitar.. Very underrated. Mike Muir on vocals is the perfect compliment for this band. Check them out, bit start with "you can't bring me down"!!

As others have said, Dave wrote this song when he heard that Cliff Burton from Metallica died. They had been friends when in Metallica, before Dave was given the boot. Scott Ian wrote about some Metallica things that happened. Like the day Metallica had fired Dave, he arrived at the music building that Metallica had been sleeping in the hallways, while writing Kill Em All, and Cliff was outside and told Scott they had fired Dave. Scott laughed, thinking it was a joke, went inside, saw Lars and James and they confirmed it. Anthrax was on tour with Metallica when Cliff died. At the beginning of the tour, Scott said that James, Kirk, and Cliff had told Anthrax they were going to leave Metallica, since Lars owned the name and the rights. They didn't know what to do. Scott and rest of Anthrax said things would be fine, people would love their music, no matter what they called themselves. During the tour, they would stay to the end of Metallica's set, because they had been great friends since they met when Metallica came to NYC to write Kill Em All. The night before the bus accident, their bus driver told them they had to leave early, because he didn't like the look of the weather coming in. Anthrax said their good byes, and left before Metallica finished their set. When Anthrax got to the next hotel, their tour manager went in, and then came back out, news had reached the hotel about an accident. When Metallica reached the hotel, Charlie and Frank followed a very very drunk James Hetfield through the city, keeping an eye on him, to make sure he wouldn't do anything stupid or hurt himself. Scott stayed with Kirk, in the hotel room, they were really really close. I don't think he said who was with Lars. Dave heard the news, and wrote this song.
Other great Megadeth songs, Holy Wars Punishment Due, Addicted to Chaos (I'm partial to this one, I even did a music video for it not quite 20 years ago for it, it is the one with Dark City movie cut up for it), Tornado of Souls

One thing you need to understand was this technology in the music is now over 40yrs old. Back then this was new so people and bands experimented with it. Back then it sounded cutting edge where today it would sound dated and maybe not good at all. Not a knock on your critique but maybe a new perspective on what your hearing. Also don’t be so hard on yourself worrying about comments that may not be positive. Metal fans get very protective of their bands. It’s not you but we have been fighting with society about this genre of music for 40-50 years now. So we have a little PTSD when it comes to people critiquing our favorite bands. Also you won’t catch a million likes for every song done. Some people forget to hit the like button, some just don’t, while others like the channel enough to subscribe, share!, and like the videos. Just keep doing you and you’ll be fine and don’t pay attention to the haters.

You gotta hear "Tornado of Souls" and "Breadline". The second is a bit poppy. FYI, the little scale at the end of a chord riff is called a fill.

This is one of the few instances where I would have said to check out the studio version over the video. The reason is, the video is taken from a segment of a documentary called the Decline of Western Civilization Part 2: The Metal Years. Megadeth decided to just use the part that featured them as their music video. But the documentary parts where they're talking to the camera distract from the music and the song. Also, they cut some extended parts out in the video edit. But yes, very good song.

Basically anything off their first 5 albums is gold.

This is a great example of Megadeth's atypical song structures. It seems like they're all over the place but they make it sound so freaking good!! "Wake Up Dead" is another weird but awesome one from them.

Polaris is such an under rated song, very clever lyrics and the pace is relentless. On the original album version it sounds like Dave sang it all in one take. Nick Menza's drumming alone, Jesus, its something special. True Gem of a song.

Don't worry too much about what videos get most views. If you just let some uploads be sleepers, eventually you'll draw in a bigger audience overall and build up a loyal fanbase of subscribers. But if you only react to the most popular videos, your channel will be lost in with all the other reactors who only listen to Metallica or whatever.
Those smaller videos are the ones that attract people because either you reacted to their favourite artist that nobody else bothers with, or otherwise you'll turn someone on to an obscure band that they haven't heard before. But they will be the returning customer.
In other words, keep up the good work!

Another song that I have recommended as an intoduction to a band (along with 'Seasons in the Abyss' & 'Dead Skin Mask' by Slayer).
I knew that you would probably like this one.
You might want to check out 'A Tout Le Monde', 'Promises', 'Blood of Heroes', 'Family Tree' & 'A Secret Place' by them for less shred and more melodic stuff.

Yes! Another flanger effect. You’re learning quickly! Weather on guitar or especially on vocals, it has its place but usually in moderation.

Reckoning Day is a pretty good next one. Matter of fact, if you want songs with really good mustaine vocals, then Countdown To Extinction, Youthanasia, and Cryptic Writings are all good albums you could pull songs from.
