I have a silly story... my kids like Megadeth. I first introduced them to Megadeth by playing an episode of the cartoon Duck Dodgers. In the cartoon Duck Dodgers needs to defeat the Martians' secret weapon. They defeat them by defrosting Megadeth and playing a concert so loud it overwhelms their weapon and blows it up. The song they sing in the show is "Back in the Day".
This concert in particular was performed in 2005. Dave was 43 that year and had just released an album the year prior after coming back from a 2 year disbandment of the band due to injury. The whole preamble leading up to this concert is just incredible.

For me, this song and the entire album just takes me back to 1992. It was when metal ruled popular music, and the biggest bands in the world were metal. Imagine how it felt to be into music at that point, with all the amazing metal and grunge albums coming out. The production on the Countdown To Extinction album is so perfect (thanks to Brit Max Norman), it just sounds super confident and polished. It literally does not matter if anyone likes Symphony of Destruction. It's a masterpiece, end of story. Megadeth holds a unique position in Rock n' Roll history. Dave Mustaine is fraught with issues but he is one of the greats. It's possible to acknowledge his problems but also appreciate his genius.
Mustaine is a legend and a total riff lord! So far you've hit the more mainstream hits. I'd challenge you to peel back another layer and go after some of the absolute bangers that are often overlooked on these channels: "Mary Jane", "My Last Words", "Architecture of Aggression", "Never Walk Alone" to name a few...

I saw them at the Monsters of Rock at Costle Donnington in 1988, and they've been one of favourite go to thrash metal bands ever since and awesome live! You mentioned the guitar solo wasn't amazing and it sounded to me like they simplified it a little, maybe to make it easier to play live.
Saw them live during THIS tour in the 90's in Germany. Was front row in front of Dave and even got to see him undress and change backstage from my view,lol...man was freaking so HOT!! I had the biggest crush on Dave when I was a young teen until young adult, that concert was a blast...but I lost a close friend that night on the way home from the concert in a car accident due to drunk driving and an argument with his girlfriend....snowy roads,blizzard conditions,an AMAZING concert,but the WORST ending to our night.dont drive drunk...or even if youve only had one unless you wait an hour...driving drunk kills.even on the best of nights.that's my story of this concert.Megadeth and Metallic a are BOTH FANTASTIC bands!!! Saw them live during THIS tour in the 90's in Germany. Was front row in front of Dave and even got to see him undress and change backstage from my view,lol...man was freaking so HOT!! I had the biggest crush on Dave when I was a young teen until young adult, that concert was a blast...but I lost a close friend that night on the way home from the concert in a car accident due to drunk driving and an argument with his girlfriend....snowy roads,blizzard conditions,an AMAZING concert,but the WORST ending to our night.dont drive drunk...or even if youve only had one unless you wait an hour...driving drunk kills.even on the best of nights.that's my story of this concert.Megadeth and Metallic a are BOTH FANTASTIC bands!!! Its not a contest,its MUSIC!! Lol,either its good or it isn't no need to compete imo.enjoy ALL music that speaks to your soul!!!!🎶❤✌
