"Peace Sells" is good, but you really need to react to "The Conjuring" and "Wake up Dead". 2 of their very best masterpieces! Love the reactions! Keep 'em coming! Keep it real! 👍
This was the first album of theirs that I bought. Didn't know who they were but the cover art was awesome. I bought it in 1986, I was 15. This song blew my mind. I also would recomend reacting to Wake Up Dead.
The beginning bass riff became iconic. It was used on MTV News for years and pretty much every metal head knows it after a second of hearing it. First thrash video I ever saw. I was 15, 1986.
MTV NEWS and Paul King ... Bloody hell YEAH ... MTV had a very special place during my teenage years, during day there was not to much of heavy stuff ... BUT when I had heard that jingle - headbanging used to start immedietely !..! K.S.iądz ... !..!
I bought a compilation cassette from K-Mart in 1987 that had "Caught in a Mosh" by Anthrax. It was the Anthrax song that I bought the tape for, It was $2.99. The last song on the tape was "Hook in Mouth" by Megadeth. I knew their name because I used to get those magazines but I never heard their music before then. It immediately became my favorite song on that tape. I got the Peace Sells tape and put the "Megadeth Peace Sells" back patch on my Levi's jacket. That's the song that made me a lifetime fan.
Dave isn't a horrible person, he's just been very bitter about being kicked out of Metallica. But I don't see that as a bad thing, we ended up with 2 freaking amazing metal bands instead of 1.
An entire generation grew up listening to this song, at least the riffs, without knowing it. These riffs were the intro to MTV news. Every kid in the 80s heard it. Didn’t even know it was Megadeth they were hearing lol.
6:08 the lead guitar player's name is Chris Poland. his first solo record after Megadeth, called "Return to Metalopolis", is like a holy grail for many metal guitarists. if you wanna hear some heavy jazzrock(metal)fusion, check out his band Ohm.
The intro bass line, Chromatic Death from S.O.D. and the opening riff from Beg To Differ (Prong) encapsulates every metalhead's memory of the early MTV era. Classic.
"Peace Sells" was suggested so much because many of us were introduced to Megadeth with this video on MTV. First time I heard this song, I ran out and got the cassette and their prior one "Killing is my business...and business is good!" Been a fan every since. This was heavy for the time, it was just slower than normal for "thrash" metal. The kid that said "This is the news" - I looked a lot like him at the time this came out. So much so that some friends asked if I had someone been in the video. I effin wish!!! LOL. I keep saying bro, I really like your reactions as they seem legit real, and bring me back to my teenage years when these bands/songs first came out. Keep on thrashin'!
the Peace Sells album was my introduction to megadeth too. As a kid I bought Killing is my business on vinyl and could never really get into it, but all these years later been listening to the final kill remix of it and it’s a great album, really raw and has a bit of a punk feel to it. Looking down the cross is a banger
I saw them in 1988 at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pa. It was during the Peace Sells tour. They were awesome. The Tower Theater only seats 2000 ppl. So every seat was a good seat. Thanks for the reaction.
There’s so much great Megadeth to go through. Wake up dead, the conjuring, in my darkest hour, symphony of destruction. His vocals are just something that fans get used to and I grew to like
I follow you because you're one of the more enjoyable, honest reactors. You're hearing something new to you and it's fun for us watching you become a Metalhead. Long over due huh. There's a band I really want you to react to, they're called Liliac ( Lilly Ack ) family Metal/Rock band 2 sisters 3 brothers and they are Amazing! Melody is the best female vocalist I've ever heard, she's called the female version of Ronnie James Dio and I want you to react to their cover of Heaven and Hell from Black Sabbath with Dio vocals. You gotta do it, I gotta see your face when she starts singing, pure perfection!
I like his vocals on Cryptic writings - I think working with Dan Huff opened up his vocals rather than the singing out the corner of his mouth technique he used.
Nobody listens to Megadeth for their vocals but the lyrics and musicianship is top notch. Dave (Megadeth) and James (Metallica) are both amazing riff writers. James has grit and Dave has groove.
Im am a HUGE MegaDeth fan. I remember seeing the Sweating Bullets video on MTV a wondering who the heck are these guys!? I bought the CD with Sweating Bullets on it and I believe Youthnasia had just come out and it has become my favorite album. I love your reaction to metal!
First concert was Megadeth at 14 y.o. This song, at the moment Dave says "You Mean You Put A Price On Peace?" The whole damn place came alive like nothing I have ever seen since. Kick ass concert, couldnt hear right for days afterwards.
Best album by Megadeth, is " world needs a hero" big fan, and thats my favorite album Songs i highly recommend from that album Megadeth - burning bridges Megadeth - recipe for hate... warhorse Megadeth - when
Ok, GenX headbanger here again. Love watching your journey as you discover our Big 4. As I have commented on some of your other reactions, I mentioned that after Dave was kicked out he went on two produce at least two masterpiece albums. This is the first masterpiece. Unfortunately, this title track is the most commercial off of this album and therefore my least favorite. But I will say this video got a lot of air play on MTV at the time and is how many of us discovered them back in the day. There are some truly epic songs on this album, but this ain't one of them. Check out Wake Up Dead, Good Mourning/Black Friday, or The Conjuring. Also, as you continue your journey, you will discover that Megadeth is the most technical of the 4. Whoever Dave chose to back him had to have equal to or greater than the "chops" he did. Also, if you continue exploring Megadeth, you will discover what many of us have over the years, which is that Megadeth is really a jazz band. They are that talented. Looking forward to the next.
Dave listened to a lot of Motown growing up, and you can hear it in this song. And when he does the mixing for his songs, he copies the same EQ as Motown songs. Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland, drummer and lead guitarist respectively, came from jazz fusion and brought that sensibility to the music. I think it’s big part of what makes the band unique.
Love playing this one on bass! Dave Ellefson and Jason Newsted are excellent pick players (I also play with a pick!) 🤘🏻Saw them live last year, Mustaine is still a monster on the guitar!
I was lucky enough to see Megadeth many times. The first time was on CLASH OF THE TITANS TOUR, it was Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and Alice in Chains! What a great show. Then in 2023 I saw Megadeth open for the Misfits in Tampa FL and Dave still sounded great for surviving throat cancer. Megadeth fan here for life!
Molly boy you will be a metal head after this journey you are taking welcome to the world of real music you can not beat a bit of metal music and you will end up growing your hair Megadeath are one of the grandfather of metal they rock awesome reaction and did you know that ICE T the rapper has got a rock band called BODYCOUNT and is very good
It seems that you've reacted to three of the big four as far as i can tell. Anthrax is a must! There are too many songs to suggest just one, but a few favs of mine are: armed and dangerous, lone justice, AIR..(basically the entire, spreading the disease, album) Anthrax and public enemy: bring the noise. Among the living, i am the law, caught in a mosh.. thank you, Newly subscribed!
Yessss! What a song! Lovin watching you discover and "hear" the music behind the metal! A lot of people can't get past the distortion and aggression. Enjoy!
Hell yes, Anthrax are my all time favorite band, been listening to them since 88. He needs to start with Caught in a Mosh I reckon that's a good introduction 💯🙏🤘
Ahh back when all the thrash chicks were around. Skateboarding, listening to thrash and hangin with the hotties. If I could pick a time to go back to it would definitely be around the late 80's. Good times man.
Seating Bullets an old hit video is freaking awesome one too Then symphony of destruction live in Argentina. The Argentina people have their own live chant for that on.
My favorite has always been "In My Darkest Hour." It's very heavy without thrashing. Here's the story from wikipedia: The music of the song was written by band frontman Dave Mustaine in a single sitting after a friend had contacted Mustaine to inform him of Metallica bassist Cliff Burton's passing. Mustaine was frustrated with the members of Metallica for not contacting him personally..."
I was about 14 when this came out, and overheard the "cool kids" talking about it...but I misheard them, and went looking for Pizza Sells but Who's Buying.

Try songs like Caught in a Mosh , I Am the Law , Among the Living , Who Cares Wins , Be All , End All , Antisocial and they even do a song with rap group Public Enemy called Bring the Noise !!!! Its a banger !
"What do you mean i ain't kind, just not YOUR kind" ... one of the best lines in the song.
"Peace Sells" is good, but you really need to react to "The Conjuring" and "Wake up Dead". 2 of their very best masterpieces! Love the reactions! Keep 'em coming! Keep it real! 👍
Agreed! Both are absolutely epic songs! Riff dreams.
Don't forget Good Mourning Black Friday
Thanks for already saying exactly what i was going to say.

Dave’s vocals took a little getting use to. Once I did, I freakin love this guy. What an amazing musician, songwriter, and incredibly talented guy.
"It's more relaxing" unpaused to them absolutely thrashing
Love Megadeth. I don’t think “Hook in Mouth” gets enough love.
Sick song. So far so good is my favorite record of theirs. The vibe is ridiculous.

As someone who really enjoys angry music, I'm actually kinda glad Dave is still salty after all this time 😅
Why do people keep going on about this. Megadeth is better than Metallica.
he fucking whinges forever
An entire generation grew up listening to this song, at least the riffs, without knowing it. These riffs were the intro to MTV news. Every kid in the 80s heard it. Didn’t even know it was Megadeth they were hearing lol.
Blew my mind when I first put the two together.

One of the ultimate headbanging songs. Classic. My favorite off this album is The Conjuring. Insane riffs and transitions and groovy as hell
The intro bass line, Chromatic Death from S.O.D. and the opening riff from Beg To Differ (Prong) encapsulates every metalhead's memory of the early MTV era. Classic.
I love Prong, they deserve more love

Love this song. great lyrics!!! This song and sweating Bullets probably my fav Megadeth!

Good album and song. The Conjuring off this album is killer. I think you’d really like the Countdown To Extinction album.

1986. This song can come out tomorrow and have just as much or even more meaning.
What a fucking legend Mustaine is.
The 2nd guitarist and drummer at this time were actually jazz musicians turned metal, so there is some jazz influence in the early Megadeth.
