Rust In Peace was great. But for me, an old school thrash fan, Peace Sells is Megadeth's best album. Should do Good Mourning/Black Friday or The Conjuring soon. 🤘😤🤘
PS was awesome. I remember getting those vibes from that harmony part of She-Wolf. Countdown was my introduction to them. Then my older cousin showed me Hook In Mouth. I’ve loved them ever since.
About Megadeth. You can intrepet the lyrics in SO many ways and all of them make sense. Dave's a really smart guy and one of the greatest lyricists in the genre.
Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson were in a Jazz / Fusion band called The New Yorkers before joining Megadeth. Don't disqualify them, they were absolutely amazing musicians. Friedman himself said Poland's solos were intimidating.
Chris Poland was the greatest lead guitar player in this band, and went on to make phenomenal music with Damn The Machine, and his jazz metal band, Ohm. Definitely recommend reacting to some Ohm.
My Last Words and Good Mourning/Black Friday are probably the most technically complicated tracks on this album and honestly are two of my favorite Megadeth tracks of all time. Either worth checking out.
Yes, yes, yes. I bought Peace Sells on c-cassette when it was released. The whole album for me is THE thrash metal album, along with same era Kreator, Exodus and Testament albums. That riff and the bass line, forever encarver in my spine. This is a song, that even after decades of listening, has exactly the same powerful effect, every time you hear it. Mas-ter-pea-ce.
@@jarkkokyntaja4073 If you are looking for something along the lines of that album, there's an album called *times up* by a band called *Havok* - it's worth listening to if you haven't heard it. Really thrashy in a very kreator kinda way.
When he started talking about Bill Hicks I thought for sure he must be familiar with that Tool album. Can't wait for that vid! Now you realize you HAVE to do Third Eye right?
This is the song that got me into thrash metal. Went and bought this album and picked up ride the lightning because I liked the cover. I was 15 at the time.
Good stuff! Love when you play a piano piece to show how different a song can sound in a different context. Very talented, please keep going, you guys have become a favorite of mine.
I would like to hear his reaction of "Last rites/Loved to deth" from their very 1st album, maybe the remastered version, that got a better sound. Here we go 🤟🏻
Just some 411 , Jeff Young replaced Poland for a brief period who I saw with Megadeth ( Gar Samuelson still on drums ) in Portland like 86 or 87 . Was like Between end of Peace sells and beginning of of So Far , so good , Sanctuary opened up . Great show
Check out Conquer or Die from Megadeth. Instrumental with a great classical acoustic intro. It's absolutely awesome and would love to see the reaction.
I love, "How do you figure....", and totally agree with Judsong on the use of the word mean and how Dave accentuates it as well. Looking forward to Aenema. Keep up the good work.
My Army buddy used to own the bass that David Ellefson used to record this album. You can see it in the video for this song. It's at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now.
Would be great to hear something from Youthanasia. To me it's one of their best albums, it's certainly the most melodic. Addicted to Chaos, Youthanasia, I thought I knew it all... A lot of great tracks. Imo also Dave's best singing. Too underrated.
I’m commenting before the start of the video. Of the big 4 Megadeth was my favorite. More so after learning about Dave being kicked out of Metallica. This was the first album I heard from them and the entire album is great. 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯❤️🔥
I like what he said, how your lyrical architecture can help avoid requiring rhyming schemes. Ayreon's (fantastic) The Theory of Everything, Arjen mentioned that in order to give himself more flexibility and nuanced story telling he wanted to avoid rhyme scheme and that came with challenges of its own. Now the layered meaning of mean makes the repeating element much more powerful. So I guess this is really a good way of thinking about song form. Would have been nice to point out how Poland quoted the Star Spangled Banner in the short solo after the section where he says that he couldn't be a president (with the implication that he's basically a non-person). Also Garrs cymbal work deserves praise. Nick was a beast but Garr had finesse. Both were amazing musicians ... Oh and Nick plays with Chris on his band Ohm, worth checking out. Just like the jazz recordings of Garr and Poland, which are equally tasteful. Yeah, Megadeth has a very rich catalog and I love most of it (some albums jave a dud or two, like SuperColliders Fire which feels like a very early demo with placeholder lyrics put there to help with the riffs which themselves arent really polished yet), but all in all has a ton of excellent tracks on pretty much every album with many flawless albums of which this has to be my absolute favorite.
Hey buddy, I randomly found your channel and its my type of humour. As a Aussie Digger, keep up yhe good work as I know nothing about music but I love the slipknot and korn videos. Keep up the good work guys, and can you check out the video for Looking at you through the glass by Stone Sour.
Rust in Peace is my favorite Megadeth album, but Peace Sells is very close. All of Megadeth's 80's and most of their 90's albums are amazing. Some more Megadeth songs you need to check out are; In My Darkest Hour, Sweating Bullets, Last Rites/ Loved To Deth, Trust, and the original A Tout Le Monde. \ Can't wait for more reactions!
Also, as it has become tradition among reaction channels, you eventually have to listen to The Four Horsemen and Mechanix back to back. Both are great versions of the same song, one by Metallica and the other by Megadeth. This song is one of the biggest parts of the Metallica vs Megadeth rivalry (which imo is pretty stupid)
You can play some septicflesh or dimmu borgir with a symphonic background. I imagine that they will be very attracted to that material because of the musical style of mixing metal with symphonic. These bands have already played live concerts with symphonic music, so a reaction on this material is very attractive. examples : dimmu borgir progenies of the great apocalypse or septicflesh the enemy of truth. greetings from chile
The next album after Peace Sells is So Far So Good So What! That album had Chuck Behler and Jeff Young,NOT Marty Freidman! Marty Freidman came in on Rust in Peace...The album AFTER So Far So Good So What
One of the greatest metal albums ever Megadeth is definitely one of the big four may i add testament as a another big five and to throw in my favorite band savatage
I just realized after played the piano that the notes are almost exactly same as (Michael Myers theme),and I have known this song forever and never realized it, and what is even funnier is that the M.M theme is also one of only like 3 songs I knew already how to play on a piano lol, just never realized they were the same. Possibly on purpose I am now wondering.
Chevelle is a great example of a band that doesn't force rhymes in favor of structure. Criminally underrated. I would love to hear his reaction to the song Pinata.
I always interpreted the lyrics as there is no profit in peace but there is profit in war. Your interpretation with the media selling peace vs tragedy rings very true though. If you love early megadeth definitely check out their album endgame. Not a single bad track on that album.
The funny thing is Dave Mustaine was on just as much drugs as the other guys, but it was his band. He had his own drug problems well into the rust in peace era and beyond.
Hey guys, I think you are understanding the lyrics here a but. In my opinion.. Dave is trying to get to a point here. If peace sells who's buying, right? How is peace going to make money? A lot of companies & countries make money off war. Supplying weapons to aid wars. For me, that's the point that he was getting at. That's the money maker.
It still is. Look at the US warmongering appartus - can you put a price on the Ukraine "peace"? Apparently, the US thought peace was too expensive for them in March 2022 so they sent Boris Johnston to stop peace. The result: 500 000 Ukrainian dead and the number keeps growing.
Great reaction! For me, the album "Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?" (1986) by Megadeth is superior in every aspect to the album that most consider the band's best, "Rust in Peace" (1990). In reality, both are masterpieces, but I consider "Peace Sells" superior in every way. And the 1988 album "So Far, So Good... So What!" is also excellent! They are Megadeth's 3 best albums...
BAD ASS FELLAS! The video is also an excellent way to see what Mustaine intended as the message for this one. But that being said... Richard and Judson really need to find a local band to produce and album. Between the two of you, Richard understands the roots and melodies, Judson understands the capability of the technicality and creativity. Lots of fights, but y'all should give it a go!
May I suggest Sonata Arctica? - 8th Commandment - FullMoon - The Power Of One - Wolf & Raven - Picturing The Past - Paid In Full Any of those songs are great, and there are even more, but that's enough. Some Epica I think would please too.
this song was over 20 years old and told us what is now... so what is wrong with that song? no one is selling weapons to attack, we all want peace and there is so much money...
I think "My Last Words" is the most amazing thrash metal piece of this album. Incredible speed, riffs, bass line.
Absolutely. My favorite track off this one.
My fave as well
My all time favorite song.
The intro gets me every time
The bass is incredible. Best bass lines ever
Rust In Peace was great. But for me, an old school thrash fan, Peace Sells is Megadeth's best album. Should do Good Mourning/Black Friday or The Conjuring soon. 🤘😤🤘
I totally agree.
Agreed. Peace Sells and One were the 2 that turned me on to my 2 favorite bands.
PS was awesome. I remember getting those vibes from that harmony part of She-Wolf.

New yorkers were incredible
For Gar he did Fatal Opera after, its nasty
@@Nissardpertugiu I like Fatal Opera.
That intro piano was beautiful
Yes, especially those fast notes (e.g 1:10 to 1:13) got me goose bumps.
Agree on the playing!
I would consider a proper tuning, though.
WOuld be nice to get some downloadable stuff when judson is ready :)
That Bill Hicks quote is literally in the beginning of Tools Third Eye.
Justin says abot NEWS. Ironically the intro bass line to this song was the theme song to MTV News back in .......
Chris Poland was the greatest lead guitar player in this band, and went on to make phenomenal music with Damn The Machine, and his jazz metal band, Ohm.
Definitely recommend reacting to some Ohm.
Hell yes. Chris Poland is a way underrated guitar god.
Gar as well. There's a bassist channel where he isolates the bass and drums and all I can say is jeezus. Gar was an absolute beast
We all love Marty but no one can play Polands solos right, even 40 years later
in my darkest hour by megadeth must be the next
I think they did that already?
My Last Words and Good Mourning/Black Friday are probably the most technically complicated tracks on this album and honestly are two of my favorite Megadeth tracks of all time. Either worth checking out.
good mourning black friday!!!!!
Yes! Best song on album

Great Dave Mustaine songs on both.

9:00 HOLY!!! He has GOT to react to "Third Eye" by Tool. Won't he be in for a surprise...
