You took the words out of my mouth. I just hope they realize how much Dave Mustaine shaped music for the next 20 years plus. Christ he even brought Alice in Chains on tour before they were big. Hugely influential
It’s not even the feel of it. Friedman got a weird picking style and it’s legit not possible to play it fast and get the feel unless your wrist is all twisted up. Marty makes it look ridiculously easy tho.
I think he wouldn't have lasted very long in the band anyways. James and Lars had already big egos, the band couldn't handle a third one. :D Getting Megadeth out of this on top of Metallica was a blessing for Heavy Metal, don't want to miss one of them.
You know how you had to go back and hear that solo again because it felt like it came from his soul....welcome to the world of Metal! That's how it should feel. I've been a Metalhead my entire life and I can't tell you how many concerts I've gone to but there's nothing like the rush, the thunder of being there. If you ever get the chance to go don't hesitate. Experience it for yourself. It'll change your life!
Bro... Your reactions are genuine as fuck. It's obvious you're truly enjoying it and I'm so jealous of you getting to hear this stuff for the first time
I heard this song from my guitar teacher 20 years ago, he told me that guitar soloing is not about playing fast, its about playing with feeling. This solo is no 1 of my favorite guitar solos still to this day.
I just watched your reaction to Holy Wars and the first thing I thought was "Oh boy, he needs to listen to Tornado of Souls". Really happy to see this here. Loving your reaction vids. The guitar solo is considered one of the greatest in metal.
We all knew of Marty Friedman before he joined Megadeth. Let me tell you we were all super fucking hyped. I have probably heard this solo at LEAST 500 times. Many years of admiration.
Just as Master of Puppets is widely considered to be Metallica's best, Rust in Peace is widely considered to be Megadeth's best. Not a bad song on the album. Peace Sells is a previous album, but nothing wrong with working your way backwards with these guys. Hangar 18 from this album is another banger with incredible guitar solos and Dawn Patrol is a much slower, interesting change of pace song. Keep rockin man 🤘🤘
I really apreciate your genuine reaction to that excellent solo! That's one of the best chuncks of music ever made... And it's composed and played by Marty Friedman... to know more about him, I advise you to listen to his instrumental track "Rio"... enjoy it!
I think what makes the solo in this song particularly impactful is the chord progression that it plays into. The rhythm guitars hold down a relatively simple set of cords that the solo weaves through, but also helps build out the low-end. It's pretty sweet.
Personal preference but I put Lucretia and Take No Prisoners in my top 3 favs from this album but Hangar 18 is #1 for me. Washington is Next.. is my favorite song by them tho. The live version at Musique Plus is incredible.
Cryptic Writings was my first Megadeth album. 99 Ways to Die was my first Megadeth song. honestly you wont go wrong with any suggestions from your viewers here
Just found your channel today. This is one of the best solos ever. Rust in peace album is my number one favourite metal album. I didn't grow up with this stuff but love all this.
Megadeth is some of the highest caliber of musicianship. The style of soloing from Marty Friedman is very impromptu and in the moment. What you're hearing off the strings is what Marty was feeling in the moment. You were right when you zeroed in on it coming from the heart.
Congrats! You're becoming a metal head. Welcome to the family! We welcome one and all and take care of our own no matter race, religion, or other. Cathartic release through music is our bond.
Take it in man We have all been exactly in your shoes with any of the Metal bands that appeals to each his own, but that feeling when you get caught up in your thoughts, yea that’s what metal will give if you give it a chance, not all is great but you’ve been playing most popular of its time.. Don’t be sorry for anything ever on your channel,we get it it fun to watch others get it so f everyone but thank the ones who participate with the channel, you be you that’s all we ask.. great stuff bro..
That solo... Check out his solo work. His name is Marty Friedman. After you hear his solo work, you'll be able to rell whether it's him or Dave soloing.
Watched a few of your videos and was entertained by your reaction. I'm an old metal head, and I'm enjoying watching you absorb all that metal sweetness, and you come off as genuine. I love seeing young folks enjoying what I listened to in high school and still listening to today. I gotta subscribe and help you make it to 100k. Keep doin you, Molly Boy.✌️😎
Dave,Marty Friedman and co [Verse 1] This morning I made the call The one that ends it all Hanging up, I wanted to cry But dammit, this well's gone dry [Pre-Chorus 1] Not for the money Not for the fame Not for the power Just no more games [Chorus] But now I'm safe in the eye of a tornado I can't replace the lies that let a thousand days go No more living trapped inside, in her way I'll surely die In the eye of the tornado, blow me away [Verse 2] You'll grow to loathe my name You'll hate me just the same You won't need your breath And soon you'll meet your death [Pre-Chorus 2] Not from the years Not from the use Not from the tears Just self-abuse
Yes Rust In Peace is an amazing album. It’s like Megadeth’s “Master of Puppets”. You should listen to “Polaris- Rust in Peace” it’s my favorite Megadeth song! Hits so freakin hard.
Now that you've covered 3 of the big 4 thrash bands (or at least you will have soon since I know you have Slayer coming up), it's about time to give the other member of the big 4, Anthrax, a listen. I'm pretty sure you'd love anything from the albums Among The Living, State Of Euphoria, and Persistence Of Time.
Great to see you react to some Megadeth too! Take No Prisoners is my favourite song by them, its absolutely sick. Recommend checking out Hangar 18, Wake Up Dead and Symphony of Destruction too!
I was a teenager, got a job at the tourist shack for the summer, had to ride my bike 10 KM each way, had this tape on my walkman all summer just cycling to work, I think the energy of the music helped.
Rust in Peace is indeed certified as a Masterpiece of the Heavy Metal music genre by all metalheads. Probably in the top 5 of greatest metal albums ever recorded. Gen Xer here.
When i was 12 on the way to spain for a family hoilday i bought this album in the airport on cassette for the ole Walkman. Only had this and Therapys Troublegum album for the 2 weeks. Good memories. Great reaction man🍻🤘
There is something about lead guitar tone in this album that makes me f-ing addicted to it. The more i listen to it the better it sounds If you are diving into this metal rabbit hole then you cant skip Hangar 18, Lucretia and Five Magics
fun fact before Dave was kicked out Lars told the guys we gotta slow down so what became The Four Horsemen was slowed and a " bastard version " of Sweet Home Alabama " added in the slow part or original title and music of The Four Horsemen was " The Mechanics " Dave took the song with him for the Debut of Megadeth titled Killing is my business ....and business is good!....under the title " The Mechanix" with an X not cs, of at Metallicas 30 anniversary Lars mentions Jump in the fire was also all Dave Mustaine who wrote the original version
One of the best metal solos ever written in my opinion, Marty Friedman is a top shelf player. I've been playing the guitar for almost 40 years, and I know more Megadeth songs than any other single band. While I can play some of his solos, I can't ever get them to sound quite the same. This is one I've never actually tried to tackle, because I know I can't do it justice. I just play Dave's part when I'm jamming along to this one.
That Megadeth album can be compared to Metallica's Master of Puppets in terms of maturity of sound and is the beginning of the best lineup of musicians. in my personal opinion.
You should check out the song Saturation Point from Marty Friedman's solo album Dragon's Kiss. Before joining Megadeth, Marty already had a solo career going and he also played in Cacophony with legendary guitarist Jason Becker. Saturation Point features both pre-Megadeth Marty and Jason, and it will melt your brain.
As a old dude that grew up through the evolution of Heavy Metal...I almost envy you getting to listen to all this music for the first time..
I was literally just thinking the same 🤘
But as for an old school metal head.. TURN UP THE VOLUME!!!
I was thinking the same
Yes! This warms my heart!
You took the words out of my mouth. I just hope they realize how much Dave Mustaine shaped music for the next 20 years plus. Christ he even brought Alice in Chains on tour before they were big. Hugely influential
ive been listening to megadeth for 30 years now................the solo in this song still gives me goose bumps
Exactly the same. I preach about it to my kids on a weekly basis
I fly when I listen this and painkiller solo to. So good
Same this and Cemetery gates by Pantera. Best 2 solos in metal in my opinion
You've listened to megadeth almost twice as long as I've been alive
@cailean-sg9tu yes mate lol 😆 🤣
Still enjoying em as much now as I did back in the day
Good album, and Tornado of Souls has a *god tier* solo. No one (imo) quite managed to catch the feeling of how Marty Friedman played it.
You're right, although Bradley Hall does a pretty good job with the solo on his RUclips channel.
Agree
It’s not even the feel of it. Friedman got a weird picking style and it’s legit not possible to play it fast and get the feel unless your wrist is all twisted up. Marty makes it look ridiculously easy tho.
@@deaconj3406 Definitely. Both him and Chris Poland were incredible, unique guitar players.
Fun fact, Marty joined Megadeth on their Japan tour this past year and played this song live with them. He still has it
One of the best solos ever ❤️
It sucks that Dave was kicked out of Metallica, but I'm so glad that he took his anger and frustrations and made an excellent band from it
right? it almost had to be done for all the music that was in him to get out...
Imagine how much it would take to get kicked out of Metallica in the 80s. None of them are saints, lmao.
we got 2 amazing bands out of it at least
@@Crom64 absolutely 💯
I think he wouldn't have lasted very long in the band anyways. James and Lars had already big egos, the band couldn't handle a third one. :D Getting Megadeth out of this on top of Metallica was a blessing for Heavy Metal, don't want to miss one of them.
MEGADETH: Intelligent Speed Metal.
Marty Friedman's feel in solos is next level. As is daves shredding in solos. And nick mensas drumming is phenomenal just a banger of an album man
The greatest megadeth line up by far
@@nevermoresmith63 Indeed. Unparalleled Megadeth lineup.
David Elefson RULES!
I hope the Japanese are taking good care of Marty and I hope he has a really sick looking throne to sit on. Made of guitars or something badass.
The song "Wake up Dead" has one of the sickest drops in it.
It's even heavier on the Megadeth/Lamb of God version. Downtuned
@@TailgunnerATCwell they’ve been playing it down tuned the last 5-6 years (megadeth)
The solo on this is regarded by many as being one of the absolute top tier metal solos of all time, it's absolutely incredible!
Everybody feels that way about that solo!
Don't stop now, MORE MEGADETH
Fr
Marty's solo consider by many metal fans one of the greatest solo of all time. TOS is a true master piece. Like this whole album.
This song is part of the best album of all times! And the solo is a pure masterpiece 🙏🤘😁
Well shit we get Metallica and Megadeth back to back. Now that's a good day 🎉
Throw in some Testament and Flotsam and Jetsam then it would be a great day
@@scottspears9347 some Practice What You Preach from Testament would fit in well
Dude almost started crying during the solo, he was so shook! Amazing :)
Once you've heard that solo, nothing else will compare.
Marty Freidman played that solo. He stands only 5 foot 6 inches, but he's packing a 9 incher!
You know how you had to go back and hear that solo again because it felt like it came from his soul....welcome to the world of Metal! That's how it should feel. I've been a Metalhead my entire life and I can't tell you how many concerts I've gone to but there's nothing like the rush, the thunder of being there. I highly recommend Wake up dead, it literally is just riff switches that that will blow your mind
I cried when i heard this solo at 14 years old.
I think Dave is an underrated vocalist
Always loved his vocals and style. Not a bad guitar player either.😉🤘🏻
From Youth to Risk, especially.
His growl is perfect for his music
He is good in writing and playing. But vocals... I have to abstract
No one else would fit. Its his music and it suits him.@@fabiomotat
The whole album is a masterpiece. I hope you react to all of them at some point. I’ll be waiting for 5 Magics
This songs solo kept me going for like 3 months after the first time i heard it, and that was last year
Dave is a genius, and this album is his masterpiece.
Next one.. Lets get The Symphony... 💪💪💪
Bro... Your reactions are genuine as fuck. It's obvious you're truly enjoying it and I'm so jealous of you getting to hear this stuff for the first time
Well said kidda..this dude is the best and truthful reaction man on the net 👏
Lmfao .your reactions are the best my son ..i lnow you like rap .the thing about this music is they can play instruments to the next level ❤❤❤
That solo is gonna live with you for the rest of your life!
You’ve totally got that solo and understood it! It’s considered one of THE best guitar solos in metal 🤘
Megadeth and Metallica were my favorite bands when I was a teenager,
I'm over 50 and I still don't know which band I like more
I heard this song from my guitar teacher 20 years ago, he told me that guitar soloing is not about playing fast, its about playing with feeling. This solo is no 1 of my favorite guitar solos still to this day.
You know what is coming then boom well worth the wait awesome solo ❤😂😂😂😂
You are catching up with us old timers. I'm 73 and enjoy watching a youngin smile and get goosebumps . You make me smile . You are a lot of fun.
i was 8 years old when i first heard this song and to this day it is still my favourite album of all times! the solos give me shivers literally!
This solo is often considered the best metal solo of all time. My favourite Megadeth song is Holy Wars. So epic. It is masterpiece.
This is the greatest solo in metal history
I just watched your reaction to Holy Wars and the first thing I thought was "Oh boy, he needs to listen to Tornado of Souls". Really happy to see this here. Loving your reaction vids. The guitar solo is considered one of the greatest in metal.
IMO, Megadeth is the angry little brother of Metallica. Just as talented but a whole different creature.
Megadeth is not the little brother...they are much more than that... MEGADETH is the FATHER of metallica.
We all knew of Marty Friedman before he joined Megadeth. Let me tell you we were all super fucking hyped. I have probably heard this solo at LEAST 500 times. Many years of admiration.
Yep. Thats the perfect metal solo. Ever. Melody, passions, love, difficulty, emotion, technique. Long live Marty!
Do their new album “The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead”…. It is AMAZING!
Yes!

The solo is my ringtone. Fun fact, Marty Friedman does the solo in 1 take, no repeat recording, no mistake, just one take and boom, mind blown.
I'd say, knowing Marty, there is no surprise!
I really apreciate your genuine reaction to that excellent solo! That's one of the best chuncks of music ever made... And it's composed and played by Marty Friedman... to know more about him, I advise you to listen to his instrumental track "Rio"... enjoy it!
Dude, I was in Junior High when this album came out, and that solo still melts my face to this day! Marty Friedman is legendary!
No one can play that solo like Marty Friedman. Ever
I think what makes the solo in this song particularly impactful is the chord progression that it plays into. The rhythm guitars hold down a relatively simple set of cords that the solo weaves through, but also helps build out the low-end. It's pretty sweet.
Holy Wars... The Punishment Due, Hangar 18, Tornado Of Souls are all pretty equal you can put any of the three on the #1 spot from the album. 🤘💙🤘💙🤘
Spot on 🤘
Agreed, I love 'Lucretia' too though.
Five Magics in the top 3 for this album for me. Aww Hell, what am I saying, entire album is #1

Can't wait to see you do "Peace Sells"
Dave,Marty Friedman and co
[Verse 1]
This morning I made the call
The one that ends it all
Hanging up, I wanted to cry
But dammit, this well's gone dry
[Pre-Chorus 1]
Not for the money
Not for the fame
Not for the power
Just no more games
[Chorus]
But now I'm safe in the eye of a tornado
I can't replace the lies that let a thousand days go
No more living trapped inside, in her way I'll surely die
In the eye of the tornado, blow me away
[Verse 2]
You'll grow to loathe my name
You'll hate me just the same
You won't need your breath
And soon you'll meet your death
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Not from the years
Not from the use
Not from the tears
Just self-abuse
One of the best guitar solos EVERRRR!!!

There is something about lead guitar tone in this album that makes me f-ing addicted to it. The more i listen to it the better it sounds

11 solos and like... 7 riffs
