- Shout out to our Patron kevin for requesting the gem.
In this video I react to Megadeth in my darkest hour.
I thought this was an emotional heartfelt song about someone Dave admired/loved and loss. I felt the song represented the stages of his grief. Pain, guilt, anger, working through, acceptance and hope.
This song is amazing and the part where Dave make his guitar laugh when he sings «you just laugh, bitch» is a touch of magic.
I never caught that before!! Whoa
@@archange1717 Kinda hard to miss, lol
Alot of metalheads don't like Dave's voice. I think it's perfect for metal and Megadeth. He's one of the few who can make ME feel the grief, the anger, or any altered emotional state HE'S putting into the music.
Loneliness is not only felt by fools.
One of my favorite lines of all time!
Dave Mustaine wrote this in one sitting after he learned that Cliff Burton died in that famous bus accident with Metallica.
Rock in Peace Cliff Burton
#Metalgods
I fail to see how the lyrics relate to the death of Cliff Burton.
@@SanitysVoid The lyrics don't actually. The lyrics are written about a rough break up and the music was written in memory of Cliff. So you are both correct.
@@DocRoc94 Well seems like a real stretch for Mustain to claim the song has anything to do with Cliff. He could have just written the words about Cliff too then I might be impressed. Sounds like something he came up with to sound cool frankly.
Actually, the lyrics his about his girlfriend who left him, The music he wrote when clif die.
Dave Mustaine will be remembered as one of the best songwriters of all time..
Best guitarist as well
I hate that he's getting old
An amazing song. I love it so much it's my ringtone.
Metallica would not exist at all without Dave Mustaine
Dave wrote this the night Cliff Burton died. Great tune on an underrated album.
Holy Shit! Now everything makes sense....... In my darkest hour, you were never there because you are dead. WOW!!!!Wallowing in self pity, laughing at me as i'm depressed. Fucking christ!
The Adventures of TNT Well, it’s not about Cliff, but it’s about how whoever he was in a relationship wasn’t there to help him get through the grief of finding out Cliff dying
Dave has said in many interviews the make up of the song is the music is for Cliff and the lyrics come from his ex gf Diane I believe her name was. Which that break up has given us many great Megadeth songs.
@@trewan1519
Exactly. In My Darkest Hour, Wake Up Dead, Tornado of Souls... She was a reason to some fucking kickass songs.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT , honestly, I've just heard this song for the first time, but I found it pretty interesting that the intro into the first verse features a riff which is similar to that of Cliffs riff from "for whom the bell tolls"
This song helped me out so much as a frustrated lonely teenager. Such a powerful thing, to connect with a song and know that others go through the same shit. First song I learned the whole way through on guitar too!!
Same here, rock on man
Same here
Same
This song has saved my life several times. Metal Saves \m/
Megadeth/Dave has saved me on a few occasions as well!!
Rock on!!!🤘
Amen brother!!
That’s sweet to hear. I hope that was the last time it had to save you, keep rocking on my friend \m/
One of my fav songs ever! That line, "You just laughed, ha ha...bitch!" One of the best lyrics ever. This whole album is amazing, check out "Liar," it's a banger too!
Dude, I totally dig liar. I love that song. My reaction is posted!
@@TheAdventuresofTNT l Yeah man, that whole album is amazing! I just came across your channel recently so I'm working my way through the vids. I really appreciate you deeping into the lyrics & the band members, some of those songs are poetic as hell. I'll catch up on your back log of vids & look forward to seeing new stuff!
You should check out "Set The World Afire" from the same album
Hell yeah. One of the most overlooked Megadeth songs and kills anything from Peace Sells (which people request all of the time)
yes, he must. after all, it's the first megadeth song ever. Dave wrote it on his way back after Metallica kicked him
One thing I always say is that getting kicked out of Metallica was the best thing for Dave, and Thrash, because after all when he dropped Killing Is My Business, nobody was playing that fast or technical not even Slayer at the time... so much aggression and virtuosity on Set The World Afire!!
Phantom James dude yes that one of my favorites off the album originally that song was gonna be entitled “Megadeth” but Dave made that the band name and then called it “Set the world afire”
Yes, same album as "In My Darkest Hour" and no, not released on KIMB, but written before that album and clearly displays the same playing style as the first record.
I am a Megadeth fanatic and this Is in my top 3 of all time from them. A masterpiece. The way it builds and Daves angst in the vocal tone and lyrics are exceptional.
yes, yes, yes!!!!!
Fsrsa I’m a recent fan and I totally agree! This song is killer..... so smooth
I am a Megadeth fav and this is my favorite song from them and one of my favorite songs of all time. Top 3
@@mikegiganti764 welcome everybody to the Megadeth. 🤘 ⚛
This, Holy Wars, and Hanger 18.
Dave is one hell of a song writter,.am I right???
I really like Liar. Not sure if many like that song but I do :)
Favorite song off the album
Love it man! You take great pride in never having lived up to anything! Lie steal cheat and kill a real bad guy! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼👍👍
Bad ass song!!!! Ugh! I get a boner then I wanna hit something when I hear that song! Lol! But seriously 😳 🤘🏻
One of my favorites. Great compliment to Hook In Mouth.
Best diss track of all time
Mary Jane from the same album is a killer as well.
Favorite song off that album! Rocks too hard
Wrote the music after Cliff died but lyrically it has to do with his Ex that many of early tunes came from. Dave accused then guitarist Jeff young of sleeping with her.
Grahf thanks for being one of the few that got the FUCKING story correct about this some you the man 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
This song is in memory of Cliff Burton, a former band mate when Dave was in Metallica. Cliff passed away on a car accident while touring with the band in Europe. Not only Dave but the metal community in general were shocked, so he wrote this beautiful masterpiece
your analysis is pretty good.
There is a lot of backround to this song.
Dave was really upset when cliff burton of metallica died. when he heard about the death he immediately went to buy heroin.
People say his gf and him had also split and he wasnt getting support from his family, so he was just really lonely and had nobody to turn to.
This album had a goofy lineup. Although it was pretty good, the line up changed into the Rust in Peace after this album.
It’s so awesome to watch you getting into these Megadeth songs! I really dig your channel, keep up the good work!!
This is my favorite Megadeth album. I'm old as hell and was introduced to peace sells first but Hook in Mouth settled the argument for me.
Hook in mouth is a rare megadeth song compare to the others, it has something different from the rest and I love it.
You laughed when dave sang no one cares for me that's cold😂
Love watching your reactions to Megadeth songs. Even though I've listened to them all a million times, when I watch your reactions it's almost like listening to them for the first time.
One of Megadeths best.
Smokes thru out the song and doesn't skip a beat.
Glad you did this one man! Megadeth is amazing! And I’m glad Your loving it!!!
I've been following
Megadeth/Dave for 35 yrs now... Dave is pure genius!!
Every album has a different feeling, and a atmosphere to them.
I love how they never do the same album twice!!
🤘🤘
Dave is a fuckn genius. Megadeth has become my favorite band of all time since I started reacting to them in may with lucretia. I love this band. They are so diverse and incredibly talented.
I wouldn't classify this as a love song....
It's so awesome to see reactions to shit that's not mainstream! I mean, I can almost guess exactly what allot of channels well do next, but you always keep us guessing!! The best reactions,.. right here!!
I'm getting back to Megadeth next week.
just stumbled across your videos randomly while searching for megadeth, so glad you are enjoying it man looks like your having a blast! rock on brother!
Another great reaction. I always check your reactions out. Keep it up.
Dave Mustaine...is a Genius...more so then those in Metallica....Chuck Schuldiner is also a Genius
I'd love to here some DEATH on this channel
both are the god fathers of their genres
So far So good So what was the 3rd album . It was the album after Peace Sells and before rust in peace ( fyi marty and nick are not on this album )
The song is about the death of Cliff Burton, Metallica's original bassist. Dave and Cliff were friends back when Dave was in Metallica. Dave was already pretty deep into heroin at that time, and an incident happened with some dogs that led Dave to whooping Hetfield's ass. He was thrown out of the band immediately after, and he's harbored both regret and anger against Metallica ever since. He said he wrote this song the night word reached him that Cliff had been killed after Metallica's bus flipped
It's not about Cliff, it is inspired by the sadness after learning his death, and he wasn't fired immediately after kicking James ass.
It was written when Cliff died, but i think he said it was about his girlfriend
@@angelone1839 yes, but Cliff's death inspired him to write this
@Me yeah. Dont think hed call em a bitch lol
Music = inspired by Cliff's death
Lyrics = about Dave's ex-girlfriend
Your analysis is so great. It's funny, it's like you understand that band naturally, when a lot, and i say a lot of metalheads don't really grasp the greatness of that band.
I fuckn love this band!!!!! There is so much greatness in Megadeth it is ridiculous!
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Yep, even in the slightest details, there are always something, like a counterpoint, a slower part of a quarter bar (sometimes just the time of a sixteenth note) just to give the kick on the ass to what come next, a change of tone in the voice, in the pronunciation of a single word, an unexpected drum pattern, and the bass in Megadeth is easy to hear. Full, full of details.
Did i say they are just the greatest metal band we have? I hope so... ;)
Great Reaction! Truly Epic Song!
I just learned about this channel so need to see what other Megadeth (my fav band) songs you have, but a lot of my favorite songs off their early albums are the last song: Hook in Mouth; Rust in Peace...Polaris; and Ashes in Your Mouth specifically.
My buds and I did this in our high school lip sync contest in '91. Standing ovation! Didnt place in the top 10,lol.
A am soooooooo Happy that you checked this out!!!!!!!! You reaction was sincere and respected the song!! The death of Cliff Burton!! Thanks man!!!! It’s a hard song to give feedback on and you did a stellar job!!!! Thanks as this song means so much, tho your reaction might have been boring to others!!! You took your time, gave it a respectable listen! Thanks man!!!
Probably one of the greatest songs ever written. If some pop music person today ripped off the song it would be a huge hit
Your reviews seem truly honest and very fresh compared to a lot of others keep rocking my man very cool dude!!!!!
First heavy metal album I ever had along with Piece of Mind... Special place im my heart.
One of my all time favorites from Megadeath in a line up of amazing songs.
My eyes water when I listen to this song
Great job bro... I agree with your thoughts about the song lyrics everything.. U got man...
Yes, overall Dave went thru a lot more hard times and had his heart broken more than the guys from Metallica did. He’s also an awesome musician and cool guy. God bless him
Glad you got around to some 80s Megadeth.
Awsome pick...VERY underrated album IMO....Dave wrote this song the day he found out about cliff burton's deth,,,...
Holy Shit! Now everything makes sense....... In my darkest hour, you were never there because you are dead. WOW!!!!Wallowing in self pity, laughing at me as i'm depressed. Fucking christ!
If i remember that right... its been some years... it was also influenced by a broken relationship...
Great album as always. Hook in mouth is another killer from that record
greg Zerby no shit, Fucking genius
megadeath fucking rocks even through those years
This may be my favorite Megadeth song ever. The way it builds is no joke and the subject matter is deep.
in my top 3 of megadeth songs with no doubt. great analysis too
This is the remixed version of the song. The original version had no solo acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song it just kicked off with the beat. Gotta check out "Hook In Mouth". Killer song!!!!
You may be the first RUclipsr to react to Megadeth's best song!
you're my favourite reactuber hahah your videos are true and fun to see. cheers!
Thanks bro.
In still sad you never listened to Dream warriors by Dokken. You said you'd check it out for Halloween 😥
This song is great, from 1988 one of their best
one of my favorite songs
Love just watching you having fun like i did first time hearing this shit.
I love the way you pay attention to the song and not interrupt by stopping the song to say your thoughts.
Please hear 'Foreclosure of a Dream' from Countdown to Extinction. That's a song which can be related to this day. David wrote that song, which is based on his personal life when his uncle lost his land in Minneapolis.
Definitely their grimmest album. Angry, but also dour and heavy-handed. New Megadeth is still great, but the first 4 albums are the most passionate.
Thanks for doing Megadeth
I never thought about the evolution of the lyrics in the song. He basically went through the five stages of grief in one song.
Awesome review!!
Finally!!!! In my top 5 Megadeth songs
The song almost gives me the courage. Listen to it daily
ya I love the way he gets into it, great reaction. And hes right no one plays metal like Megadeth. Number uno for me. love Megadeth
It was also on Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years
Muataines most beautiful work, epic song brother
My ABSOLUTE best Megadeth song! M'aybe the first song i listen more than 1000X!!
Great reaction. She Wolf live from Rude Awakening will leave you amazed.
I've never seen a black man (and a handsome one at that) listen to megadeth... I was only into their first three albums of my 8th 9th and 10th grade years, Then re-discovered them in my adult life :) Just FYI they have an acoustic version of an old song (epic balad at that) "symphony of destruction" worth taking a look at. Thanks for bringing my childhood back! I'll check out your other vids!
grew up in an all black town. there was one kid who listened to metal, so a lot of is refered to it as Bobby white music. grew to love it after joining the marine corps
Love how desperate and reaching Dave's voice sounds in the beginning- then...
"Dave knows how to make a fucking metal love song!" I love you T!!!
Dave is an awesome musician always has been.
Well, I read about this song in Dave’s autobiography (Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir) and, although the song seems pretty straightforward, he confirmed in that book, pretty much, your interpretation of the song. This cd, although heavily underrated, came during a transitional period for the band. They had just replaced the drummer and one of the guitarists from their first two recordings and would replace those replacements for Rust in Peace, which followed this cd. That Rust in Peace lineup became their classic Megadeth lineup and it lasted for 10 years. As for the song, underrated as it is, this is one of their top five alltime songs. If you like this, you may love the stuff from their previous cd, Peace Sells……But Who’s Buying. Two great songs to listen to are Wake Up Dead and Peace Sells (Their best song.).
So far so good so what. Epitaph . Best song ever . Dave is thrash king. My eternal love goes out to him. Not even cancer can bring him down.
I want to meet this dude. One of my favorite reactors.
2 me this song has always hit home w/me about betrayal. In fact, I literally used 2 say " I dont want anymore friends, b/c I've got enough knife wounds in my back as it is. "
Don't disappoint 🤘🎸
Great job sir
AMAZING BRO
Duuuuude! "Liar" off this same album is worth a look. Super fast.
Off of So Far, So Good, So What and this is one of my favorite songs on the album
I love it
I seen Megadeth on this tour in Miami at a cameo theater by the 3000 seat arena it was mind-blowing I was right in front of mustang and they bought all the beer for the concession stand chords regular to sell so the band can make more money does how early in the career it was and it was the best show I think I've ever seen Megadeth was so good I forgot who opened up for them they sound exactly the same live as on the album is which why I love Megadeth
One of me fav Megadeth songs🤘🤘
this album was what got me heavly into thrash . love it.
True fact, this song got me through my first divorce, I truly hope no one else has to go through such a tragic breakup as I did.
The first verse, I think is the best verse. I think it's cool how it's not repeated. Most songs repeat the best verse over and over.
Love that song
Badass song.🤘
There's not much Megadeth I actually love, but that whole album "So far, so good... So what?" was absolutely one of my favourite thrash albums, and that's the best song on the album. Truly great stuff.
This is probably my favorite MEGADETH album.. in an article Dave said it was released to to support the band's drug habits.. but it's true to his writing and badass musicianship
check also from this album hook in mouth, liar, 502 and mary jane, all megadeth classics
Same album you gotta do "liar". I think this album is incredibly underrated.
This song holds a deep meaning
You have to hear some songs from the youthanasia album. Train of consequences, addicted to chaos, blood of heroes or A tout le monde. You will definitely like these songs.
time has a way of takin time, lonliness is not only felt by fools.......
Best Megadeth song ever! HANDSDOWN
I ve been listening to metal for a long time now. Not sure if you have heard iof suicidal tendencies but they have a song called how will i laugh tomorrow and its a classic like this one and you may want to give it a shot.
listen to this whole album! thrash heaven! way better than any of their stuff from the 90s (apart from rust in peace)
Exactly.
Umm.. disagree. Too many production issues a musical ear can hear. I usually rank Youthanasia and Countdown above this even though the writing on this is superior.
The drums sound weak as fk cuz Paul Lani is an idiot.
In my darkest hour is in my top 5 Megadeth songs, maybe the #1 best.
Im gonna say it check the whole albumn out its a masterpiece. The funny thing is bought the album when tapes were the thing. And when I got it I got a misprint side A was on side B. And B was on A. Since I wasn't even a teenager yet this confused me.
I don't think you will be able to completely appreciate the complexity and talent of metal until you review with lyrics. Thanks for giving metal a listen to.
We usually don't do analysis of lyrics on this channel because our analytics show that people have short attention spans but we have done it before and its something that we are open to do but people just aren't interested in. ruclips.net/video/cLIVG3DBwyw/видео.html
Guitar and drummer techs filled in to record this album. I could be wrong. BUT THIS ALBUM KILLS
