    Orisa’s win rate and pick rate is going to drop so the devs will think she’s useless and then buff her to be stronger then she was.

      Exactly, history is repeating, she used to be one of the weakest tanks through seasons 4 to 6, considered C tier, and then they buffed her into basically A tier, and with these nerfs cycle will repeat. Blizzard doesn't learn sadly, their miniscule brains are incapable of retaining information.

    It’s almost like most of the tanks were designed to be specialists for a game with two tanks and then the other tanks were designed to be generalists for a game with only one tank.

      I hated fighting doom. Now he seems like he will be really bad as he is the tank who relies heavily on being healed to not fall over instantly.

      @@BigPro1123 orisa is getting nerfed (one of his biggest counters) and doom has over shields and doesn’t that much healing need healing mid combat. His ult is a get out of jail free card and cleanes anti, and heals him. Doom is going to be meta. Supports won’t be able to heal themselves as much when they get dove by doom.

    The DPS passive favors full auto hitscan heroes that can just tag enemies from afar and instantly apply a full duration 20% healing reduction with any stray bullet. I feel like a scaling healing reduction based on damage makes more sense.

      @@DarkTakanuvaDifference is he started streaming solo queue ranked tank in season 9 instead of only flex queuing tank with his friends in quick play. Pretty quickly you realize how dumb tanking is in 5v5…

    Playing the tank the last few seasons has been such a test of patience. I have really had to learn to take advice from teammates cautiously. I am absolutely ok with people offering suggestions in a constructive manner but I now have a policy that if a person demands that I swap or critiques me with any attitude, I instantly block them in voice and chat. No explanation, no fighting, no effort to explain myself. My goal is to win the game and it is in both our benefit for me to play to my strengths. I am happy to see the Orisa Nerf, and perhaps the DPS passive will help make things die more, which has definitely been a problem with Weaver lately. But it is a shame that tank is such a hard role that gets countered easily. I love being able to carry as ball or DF but as soon as it happens 90% of the time I have 2-3 counter picks on the enemy team for round 2.

      Agree. I'm also a tank main and after taking a break for some of last season, I came back to it now. I literally don't argue anymore (not that I did much to begin with) but the second someone starts getting tilted I just mute and play my game.
      Last night I had a game where I mitigated over 25k damage, but our DPS wouldnt switch off Junk against a pharah and an Echo. Guess what was being spammed in the chat? That's right, 'Tank Diff'. These morons don't listen or learn anyway.

      @@xxx0ox0 Yeah. I just think tanking provides something so great when it works out. It's such a rewarding feeling when all the pieces come together. It feels like true coordination when you play in sync diving with your DPS or have heals that know how to support you (good nades, weaver pulls, clutch Suzus). I think something is really help me mentally to know that looking at the step board at the end isn't an end-all be all display of how a match went. If you have a DPS on your team that dies first every time at the start or before a team fight, that death holds so much more weight then everyone's end of game stats. When people use end of game stats to justify saying things like tank diff based solely on end stats or midgame stats I know it's better now to just ignore them. So many complaints such as Where's my team at?!? Translates to "I have no awareness of where anyone on my team is and I think it's everyone else's responsibility to know where I am at all times". It's really helped with the mental burden It comes a couple along with trying to play tank.

      honestly getting countered after a round sounds good to me, I got way too many enemy team that instantly swapped to the whole anti-tank comp after 1-2 first fight. I don't even do much on winton, my sojourn/genji gets 4 solo kills and they go orisa-reaper-bastion-zen.

    The tank counter swapping will always be an issue in 5v5. One tank will always be better than the rest, and tanks don’t have another tank to help mitigate their weaknesses.

      @@juantronftw even without synergy, you'd at least have another tank to take their eyes off of you for a bit. Any weird tank combo, while maybe not being synergistic, can at least disrupt the enemy team or support their fellow tank in some way.

    If tanks are supposed to die so quickly they might as well give them better primary weapons. Tank primary weapons have always been hamstrung by some combination of spread/range/speed

    Healing with the 20% dps passive was brutal. Mid tier players just take shit tons of damage on cooldown

    The whole tank passive was done because people hated playing as Sigma or other tanks and just getting booped around everywhere. So even if you were on a good map for Sigma, if the other teams had boops, you were F'd. So you'd have to swap based on way more variables than if the other tank counters you. I get that you want more variety in that area, but I absolutely do not want to go back to being bowled around constantly either.

      the problem with this boop system is if you only apply it for tank, then it becomes an everyone problem, Lucio boop is unable to be balanced properly because tanks will not move and DPS get sent to Narnia with a single button push
      We just need to lower Lucio boop distance and lockout timer and it'll be fine, it gets really screwy when you think of venture because unless you stun them they overwrite all knockback and ignore you, and throw you backwards, Lucio can send you to the horizon lunar colony with his boop, but doesn't impact a dashing venture at all? Why is venture free from soft CC while dashing? Why isn't everyone free from soft CC while dashing as well?
      brig has a boop and it's balanced fairly well as it only hits one target, and it's mostly for keepaway purposes, triggering inspire or finishing a low health target, but it's rare to boop people off the map with it because everyone moves so much now and it just doesn't boop enough to save you usually, it's like having half of Ashe's coach gun for a boop
      But lucio gets to send a group of people to the backrooms? And it's got mobility lockout? And then a damage buff? It's gonna get less cooldown next time at this rate, and more range while we're at it because we love Lucio so much
      Either revert the boop back to when it was fine or make more characters than just orisa who have CC negation, or even just reduction, on a button they can press

    The tank issues have caused me to struggle while playing support. You used to be able to keep a bad tank healed up enough to give the team a chance, but now the bad tanks just fall over and even the decent tanks struggle and need so much healing that I get caught between being a heal-bot or an actual support. It's 100% my lack of skill (I'm high gold/low plat), but since last season's mid-season balance, playing support has kinda sucked at my rank. It's way too dependent on whether your tank can use cover and counter pick effectively.

    How to make tanking feel good
    In 5v5:
    -Rework existing tanks and make them do too many things at once
    -Design new tanks in the same unhealthy way
    -boring role wide passive
    -Hero bans, i guess
    In 6v6:
    -no role passive
    -revert these terrible tank reworks
    -rework the new tanks to be healthier, less generalist and more focused designs instead
    -no hero bans needed because two tanks can work together to cover each other's weaknesses
    Yeah idk the choice is just so hard...

    Increasing the dps passive is awful. It already sucks having people scream at you to heal them because they can’t tell that you are.

    We were stuck in stagnant metas because they were not pushing balance updates as they should've and instead allocated most of their resources to OW2 before we even knew about it. Easy to look back and see that now, especially by looking at OW dev interviews. I don't get why some people don't recognize that was the main issue, and instead insist the problem was 6v6. They could have nerfed shields in OW1 and changed the kits on some tanks, as they've already done in OW2 and they even planned it while OW1 was still active. But instead you and many others redirect the problem to 6v6 when really it was poor resource management that hurt OW1, its metas, and the community the most.

      This 100%. Since 5v5ers love gaslighting us I am allowing myself to make this lazy, but honestly true argument- all of 6v6’s issues can be blamed on OW2.
      They had abandoned ship to “work on” OW2 as early as 2018. While us players who loved the game that actually existed were suffering in GOATS meta, the devs felt inconvenienced we were asking them to actually update the game and in an actual meaningful way. This is why we got Mei multifreeze, Orisa un-headshottable in fortify, and absurd Reaper lifesteal buffs to “counter” GOATS- a clear misunderstanding of the issue by the devs. So that forced us to go to role queue (which I liked at the time and think I still do but honestly people may have been fine with open queue if they were actually smart) but when we went to role queue they had all this leftover powercreep from the GOATS era in the form of DPS buffs and DLC supports then as soon as we got into role queue they added Sigma and it was instant double shield meta. Like they finally got 6v6 into 222 which the devs could theoretically actually be able to balance but they entered it with DPS powercreep, AOE/immo supports, and Orisa/Sigma being overkitted. 222 was smothered in the crib. Then all these 5v5ers say “6v6 had its chance” bro are you for real?

      its not that hard. chess was made in 600ad and even then they realized that having two rooks, 2 knights, two bishops but only one queen makes the queen your strongest piece. Now making a game with other people as your "pieces" having a random person being the deciding factor because tank is the "strongest piece" then games are decided at the hero select screen depending on the tank he plays. If 600ad. game makers can figure that out you would think blizz dev would be able to today but guess not 🤷🤷🤷🤷

      I love how people are having more rose-tinted glasses about 6v6 and conveniently forgetting about the problems it had like queue times, priority passing being abused by DPS players insta-locking Hog/Ball without any regards about proper Tank play, the visual clutter, and how we had to be apprehensive about making Tanks with shields without it creating another 2x Shield meta.
      6v6 sucked and should stay gone. Not to mention it would essentially kill off Overwatch Collegiate's growth now that the game shares the same format as other popluar PvP games like CS or DOTA 2.

      @@AlexNight we are now at a time where 5v5 has existed LONGER than the time role queue even came out to the point that they stopped updating the game. Role queue came out and they essentially put the game in limbo less than year later saying "we're making ow2" with no drops no maps no characters no patches and left orisa/sig running the game for years ofcourse queue times for tanks would be bad. A DEAD GAME HAS BAD QUEUE TIMES and tanking in ow1 at that point was essentially dead unless you played orisa/sig or were an active masochist that did try to force ball/hog and still lose.

    I don’t mind either 5v5 or 6v6 but if they go back to 6v6 they need to separate tanks in main and off tanks. Main tanks should be only characters with shields and off tanks should be tankier than dps but don’t have as much HP as a main tank

    Great idea adjusting the knockback resistant numbers by tank. Tanks like Rein or Winston having more unmovable presence to make up for them having less dynamic impact than the newer tanks.

    I'm still waiting for them to compensate Ramattra's damage after season 9. He is just way too weak in terms of offense and gets fucked by dps passive. I dropped the tank role and i only play dps nowadays. As a dps, i love playing against Ram. I can even challenge him very easily in his effective range. That's so wrong imo. He has no threat and he is an easy target for me. I think heroes like Dva and Doom very strong but i don't enjoy playing those. Doom feels like Orisa 2.0. He is just an orisa with more steps and better ceiling. Instead of fortify or spin, he just uses punch, slam, block or ult and cycles that and then comes back to fish for a cheeky one shot burst kill and constantly throws cc.

    Having different knockback resist amounts for tanks makes sense. The stats are for everything are always changing anyways so I don't think it would be a huge deal if these numbers were different on different tanks.

    One thing I've noticed no one does this season is turn around when sombra appears and no one chases her down, I've won so many games where all I did on damage was listen for the sombra noise, and speeding train my way into sombra's face as fast as possible to face tank virus for the hack target
    I'm also tired of playing with bad orisa players who don't know how to play their tank, so they swap orisa, and don't know how to play her correctly and lack fundamental knowledge of what a good tank is, and don't know how to deal with "not walking forward into the enemy thinking you're immortal and then exploding" because even if they do somewhat decent it just summons an enemy orisa and makes it twice as miserable than if they just did nothing at all

    For the sake of an example let’s assume 2 teams are running comps where every hero has 1 CC:
    In 6v6 you have 2 tanks to split CC between them, meaning 3 CCs hit each tank.
    In 5v5 you have 1 tank that is required to survive all 5 CC’s.
    So, from a tank’s perspective (and the point of your role is to draw out and take the CC for your team) there is actually MORE CC in OW2.

    You have to counterpick 9 players as tank somehow!
    5v5ers on OW1/6v6:
    You have to pick based on your other tank that’s so restrictive and unfun!
    Yeah I’m sure 9 players influencing your ability to choose your hero is more fun than adapting your playstyle to your cotank. Yoy could seriously play around an unsynergistic teammate, you could make Sig/Winston, Ball/Rein, and Hog/Dva work if you knew your hero well enough. It was only at high levels you couldn’t always pull that off, but if you get to those ranks you’d theoretically love the game and accept that teamwork and tank duos was part of the game.

    You nail it with the 5v5 = shave down the extreme to alleviate the pains of counter picking. Tune down abilities that work in limitless capacities (anti-nade, hack, lamp, suzu, matrix, etc) so we can adjust certain heroes (hog, mauga for example) who are overstatted to be playable. The game is fun when cooldowns are short with small impact, ultimates have payoff and are unique and powerful (they can be avoided or mitigated but not outright nullified i.e. suzu a DVa bomb. Ults can nullify/counter ults imo), and heroes take time and coordination to eliminate.

    Tank passive idea: being attacked by an enemy grants you a stack of 'Rage' or 'Resilience' for like 2 seconds where you gain overhealth and deal slightly more damage. This is on a per-enemy basis, so you get one stack per enemy that is damaging you, up to 5.
    Even if you don't think it should be overhealth or increased damage, tanks should somehow counter focus fire so that they can take space effectively and be more threatening when played aggressively.
    Alternatively, these 'Resilience' stacks could simply be applied for each unit of damage you've received in the past 2 seconds, which would also help counter against tank deletion heroes like Bastion, Reaper and Zen.

    6v6 would let us tone down healing numbers and it would allow tanks to cover each others weaknesses, see for yourself in Open Queue how tanks can play a bit more flexibly.

    I usually don't agree with you, but i think you are hitting the nail on the head with Venture and the DPS passive and healing numbers. Plus my opinions don't mean anything if I never say anybody else isn't right if I don't initially agree. Your thoughts on role wide passives is also what I feel, to add to this, role wide passives affect each character differently. Hanzo doesn't get nearly as much an increase in power as Soldier from the role passive for instance.

    I can see why they keep amplifying healing numbers, because that's all the support role really has outside of just another character that does damage. How many characters provide a buff to their team (not including immo)? Ana, Mercy, Lucio are all we have. Including immo only half of the roster buffs their team in any way. But most times Ana nade is better used offensively and damage boost only helps certain characters really because they break OKO thresholds. We need more characters in the support role that support the team outside of just healing them.

      @@GrizzlyHugz I did mention suzu, not by name. Suzu is an immo ability, only 2 are in the game. There are the three I listed as actual support characters then I said "Including immo (abilities) only half of the (support) roster buffs their team in any way."
      I said it when Bap released, I'll say it again now. Why would I ever play Lucio or Zen with high burst healing ults when I can just play Bap (and now Kiri) and get the same use out of an immo field on a 30 second cool down? It's busted, and again I'll say this, if it is to be true immortality, then it should let you drop to literally 1 health but prevent you from dying. If they want it to have a point of effectiveness, then make it heavy damage resistance once anyone within range drops to the threshold.

    I think all roles should apply the healing debuff, i feel like reducing healing needs to happen across the board more. Reduced healing across the board will make picks easier for all roles and 1v1s less frustrating against supports

    i think u gotta just remove the overhealth on fortify and revert the current nerfs, u do not need overhealth on top of cc immunity, damage reduction, and crit immunity
    and about the tank passive, what they should do is bring back reins passive and roadhogs unnamed passive, and just mention that they increase the effect of the tank passive, rein gets even more knockback resisance and hog generates even less ult charge, but scale down the current tank passives

    I don't even mind the tank counter swaps, it's the ease with which dps and support can counter tanks, for free, that feels bad. Especially when your team doesn't counter pick enemy tank but enemy team counters you.

    It is so, so hard to keep people alive while playing Mercy now... I think she needs some sort of "Save a teammate" ability like the other supports (Yes I know Res is kind of like that, but IMO she needs some kind of ability to PREVENT deaths). Almost every other support now has some kind of ability like that. For Mercy being a "Gaurdian Angel" type of character within her hero fantasy, she's shockly bad at actually protecting her team.

    Instead of hero bans, why can’t all players only pick two hero’s in their roles for role queue, and you can only pick those two heroes in match for all roles.
    This should help with matchmaking, since you can be matched based on your rating with those heroes

    Get rid of universal passives. I’m sure we could come up with a few ideas for each hero that would either add to or help supplement their kit. Might even be a way to make tanks feel better while maintaining unique play styles. 😮

    Reduce Tanks hp to 275 to 425 depending on the tank, Give them 40% damage received reduction on top of any other health pools existing, and give them 40% status effect reductions including CC effects, Nade, Discord, Burns, Slows, DPS Passive. Tanks would be slightly less Effective HP, but would be able to exist when supported much better, but by being slightly weaker in a 1v1 still allows a dps to be more likely to 1v1 them they just don't fall instantly when supported by both supports.
    Also some idea for adjustment to Immortality abilities.
    - Kiri Suzu reduced to 1m AOE so it's more single application / skill shot.
    - Kiri Suzu no longer heals and only cleanses abilities.
    - Kiri Suzu now provides a 150 health coating basically like a zarya bubble for 1.5 seconds.
    - Kiri Suzu cooldown reduced to 12 seconds .
    -
    - Bap Lamp now takes 1.5 second to wind up before the immortality takes effect and will last for 3.5 seconds.
    - Bap Lamp health buffed to 250.
    - Bap Lamp now acts like a Zarya Bubble for all team members within the Lamp's Range.
    - Bap Lamp cooldown reduced to 18 seconds.

    Well regarding hero bans the best thing is if each player in the game get 1ban each for the role they are playing. Or if each team just get 1ban each then the person that decide the ban should be the highest rated player in the lobby.

      LMAO... She is literally nerfed into the ground. Hack interrupts some abilities, but doesn't really lock them for any considerable time. She doesn't hard counter Doom or Ball for that reason. Her damage is nearly not existent. Even the pros can't break 10k on Sombra in a match. You can't one-clip anyone (because of the ridiculous spread) since the HP buff across all heroes. This virus... is barely an inconvenience. It doesn't even break a pilon or turret by itself.
      The only thing that Sombra has in her kit is stealth and scout for her team. Beside that, she's a joke. If you're not coordinating with your team or have dive heroes to help you, it's mostly a throw pick.

    Loving the 6v6 endorsement in the comments. I thought I was the only one!! most content creators say they prefer 5v5 but I didn’t like the idea when it was announced, I didn’t like the idea when I got my hands on it and I still don’t like it however much later we are on now. BRING BACK 6v6!!!!

    This sucks, I played venture because they were fun and felt like old dps doom but worse. I wanted to get away from tank because I don’t like the counter pick or die play-style and now I can’t even play dps. It feels like there trying to find ways to push players like me who don’t have an fps history and insane aim out of the game entirely and it really hurts…played this since 2017 and this is the first time it’s felt like this game just wasn’t made for ppl like me

    Counter picking doesn’t work with role queue. I mean your tank gets countered and they don’t switch you might as well chill in spawn as it’s a loss. Before you could switch to tank yourself and now what? I think it’s a big reason why the majority of matches are still stomps, as I certainly don’t see as many in open queue (which itself is now broken with 5v5). Honestly I don’t see this game getting better now, I used to be holding out hope, but there comes a point where you have to face facts.

    They did not Buff in General Healing... Just Heros like Lifeweaver that NEED the Heals because hes to ineffective in DPS... Hes basically a Heal Main Hero... And he could not enough heal...
    If some Heros cant keep up, they needed to be Buffed/Nerfed so they Work in this Meta

    Hard disagree on Hero bans:
    - That does not sound like a fun mechanic.
    - What happens to one trick players when their hero gets banned?
    - Would hero bans only apply comp? Does that mean the quick play tank experience will continue to suck?
    Hero bans sound like a bandaid over the underlying issue.

    I don't know why this doesn't get said more: As long as tanks are given more power budget compared to other roles, and thus represent a significant portion of the enemy team's power, tanks will always be singled out by players to be punished. Complaining that tanks get counter picked to all hell, OR that they are the targets of every nasty debuff, CC, or trick that players have at their disposal are both symptoms of the same problem. You HAVE to use every advantage you have to deal with tanks or they can roll your team.
    Tanks, to do their job, can't be easy to ignore. Deciding that the way they make tanks "not easy to ignore" was by giving them a high threat/lethality level is exactly why tanks get focused so intently any time they misstep. If they had given tanks something other than high lethality (for example, if they had been designed to be hard to kill team disruptors) then it wouldn't be so clear who to use your team's powerful abilities on. Do you use them on the tank that is knocking people up and around, stunning them, maybe placing barriers that cut off heals etc and just generally making it tough to fight how you want to fight, OR do you spend those resources on the dps that is ACTUALLY the ones getting kills? Or the supports that are making it tough to secure kills? If the roles were more equal in power and team fight impact than it wouldn't make sense to expend so many resources on making the tank's life miserable. In short, lobbying for constant tank BUFFS to address their issues only makes it MORE certain that tanks will get dogpiled. The solution is, imo, reduce tank damage and play more into being enemy team disruptors and friendly team enablers.
