Sometimes if it's a sombra(I personally am not a fan of playing against her, sym or venture)or widow or someone focusing me only and I am dps especially, I will swap to a hero to counter them and focus back on them without being toxic but enough to make them stop trying to focus me and rethink their gameplay. Hot Take: The game should have an area where we can get an in-depth analysis of each hero's abilities, like maybe when viewing the hero's abilities you can press a button for "advanced details" that shows how much damage each ability does, the range, falloff, CD; Does it stun, slow, buff; how much is the buff/ debuff; and how many "points" does each ultimate need. LoL has the details on a pop up when you hover over the ability, Apex I can go into the training range and see the damage numbers, but for OW I either have to go the fandom page (which sometimes isn't updated) or get a workshop code (which might not work after an update) or get a friend that'll let me shoot them. I feel like this shouldn't be that hard to implement nor keep updated.

I don't really think this is a hot take. It seems like basic design that every competitive game should include. At the very least they could actually tell you what the abilities do in game. I remember the first time I used Illari's ult and flew into the air unexpectedly. Admittedly it was hilarious, but it's not something that should ever happen in a game like this lmao.

The "Longer you play in a community the more you'll find cracks in the seams" is so true
Fundamentally, as you grow more attachment for a game, you become more critical of it and focus on the problem points rather than focusing on the really great parts, cause as we all know, it's easier to be negative than it is to be positive. You can see this for literally any game, *especially* with bigger games (cough cough minecraft)

Hot take: Whenever an entire role is struggling due to balance/design problems (like current tank or Season 1 support), that role has the most opportunity to carry a game. Every role has always been important regardless of how "weak" it is overall. In S10, the team that generally wins is the team with the tank who finds a way to get value without getting totally shredded. In season 1, the team with the supports who could fend off flankers generally won. You're primarily being compared against the same role on the other team, and if you can find ways to consistently get value when your role is bad, it's probably easier to win more games than when your role is good even if it feels bad.

One night I tried playing support and I stuck with zen/bap/and kiri and I basically just walked around like a 3rd dps. I didnt stick to support though cause I got bored of the whole headshot people all day -> use my ult -> win the teamfight. It was very brainless. So I went back to dps and it genuinely made me instantly lose faith in every support under diamond because they were just heal botting me and a tank that's just shooting an orisa all day. @Lordin_ Месяц назад +5

yeah, when you have a skill that all the 5 enemies needs to work their butt off to force it, before every f-ing hard engage is way to polarizing. Every single dmg ult in the game cant be used before it, or it is used to force the suzu. kiriko without suzu goes from S to C easily

    • @DragonEdge10
      @DragonEdge10 Месяц назад +1

@@S85B50EngineHe definitely didn't misunderstand, you're just not taking into account that without invulnerability the dps passive cleanse is effectively useless outside of the moment of impact, aka the effective total healing from the suzu itself. In an actual fight, the invulnerability protects from the dps passive immediately being reapplied, but without it the passive would get cleansed for a split second before it got reapplied, making it effectively null in actual fights. In contrast the Ana nade not only has the anti effects for enemies, but also has a sustained heal boost after initial impact which would at least have a guaranteed prolonged benefit for the recipient regardless of whether dps passive is applied. Cleanse as a reactionary effect is only strong against debuffs on high cooldowns/have high costs, and as mentioned has little to no value with low cooldown debuffs like dps passive. Without the invulnerability you would always be on the back foot even in the best of cases, making it an alright heal burst first and mitigation tool second.

To be honest. When it comes to alot of the major topics from the past year of overwatch 2.
      "Nerf this nerf that"
      "6v6 this 5v5 that"
      "Counter this counter that"
All of it feels like it comes from the this idea I have, that overwatch players struggle to identify strengths and weaknesses in themselves, in their teammates, in ideas etc. I come from paladins and tf2, and I've never seen players scapegoat as much as overwatch players do. And it's wild to me because I don't even think overwatch is THAT much more confusing than paladins or TF2 (definitely not more confusing than paladins). And yet, I really struggle to see why so many overwatch players argue about some of the stuff that they do.

Heck, with the DPS passive back at 20%, it being counted as a debuff (so you heal 100) and it cleansing it... it would be even stronger.

" If I were just better I would have won" mentality I think should be changed to "What could I have done better?" Because odds are, no matter how bad your teamates are, there was SOMETHING that you could have done better SOMEWHERE in your gameplay, even if it wouldn't have turned the match around. For example, I was playing a rein mirror and absolutely whiffed a shatter with no teammates near me and no real thought put into it. DPS flamed me, rightfully so. However by the end of the game, the tanks had about the same k/d while enemy dps had 30 kills and mine had around 7 spending the whole match talking about that one shatter at the beginning of the match. It was a dps gap through and through, but that doesn't mean that shatter wasn't atrocious and something I need to be more aware of when to use it.

Hot take: healing abilities on primary/secondary fire do more harm than good. They make new support players think that healbotting is good, they make non-support players think that healbotting is good (so they get mad when their supports shoot red team instead of blue team), and they're the primary driver of healing creep (because they need to heal enough to ever be worth shooting blue team instead of red team). Supports should heal like Lucio, Zen, and Brig (low passive healing, cooldowns, ults).

From my experience (lower ranks) Sombra on console is just a game of spawncamping and lack of communication. Team wont notice theres a sombra first fight so lets say the zen gets one clipped while hes paying attention to healing team, and as long as everyone else is alive, the sombras just sit at spawn and camp the supports.
Ive noticed that nobody seems to know what pings are because if i notice sombras translocate or i bump into her, i immediately go close to my team and ping that area with danger. Sometimes they get it, most of the time they dont and its difficult. She definitely feels like a team effort sometimes and i see sombras that target one player specifically and the whole team is scrambling to help but its too late lol.

It could prevent ramming speed or other damaging abilities, but no amount of Ball damage upgrades will make him feel better to play as long as someone can switch to Sombra and instantly ruin your ability to play the hero. it's definitely a hot take to think that adding a scoreboard is a bad move. Also, lots of us have been asking for a scoreboard for a long time, and when they give us that NOW we want it gone? Give the devs some slack guys!
I do agree though that some use the scoreboard as a scapegoat, I literally played with an Orisa trashing us DPS just cause he got like 8k dmg despite ending with a 10 kills 10 deaths record. Like why are you bragging about your 8k when whenever you get a kill you immediately die.
Like mothafking Orisa, playing a meta tank currently, and yet literally got solo rolled by an effin Sombra, three times, the same Sombra I kept rolling on with my pulse bombs like 2 times.
Like bruh you're Orisa, and you're currently meta, why are you getting solo killed by a Sombra?!
And why is it that whenever you get a pick you get insta-killed? Don't brag about your 8k dmg if you literally have 10 kills 10 death record, my guy

But thats the fact that most ppl read scoreboard different or cant read it at all. Once my supports flamed me for bad stats (I was dps) when I had most kills and less deaths, but still it was sth like 20+/7 and we had illari and zen so they were doing a lot of dmg and zen was talking that he has better stats because of asists (like... im support main, your assists are your discord and healing orb...) and zen was 18/12 and illari was saying I was the worst player in the match. Ignoring the fact that he was making fun of me and kinda toxic now I dont know what is more important, assists as zenyatta? I dont think so. A lot od dmg on illari? not sure... I think k/d is the most important thing but people are so weird, they can flame me as Ana when I have most kills and low heal but in other match they will flame me that im healbot and I dont have enough kills. or I had dps trashtalking other dps because he was bastion and he had 12k dmg but we had sombra with maybe 6k dmg and similar kills. Its bad tbh. I wish I could turn scoreboard off because I see how it impact my matches and my attitude, I get mad fast because I see bad stats of teammates and I dont want to see it, any idea which key would be great to change from 'tab'? 😅

Hot take: Brig is screwed over really hard with the mid-season patch. While tanks compensate for their armor being worse against burst with a headshot dmg reduction, Brig has a smaller HP pool and doesn't have this passive. Additionally, Rally also gets worse as despite an immediate maxed out 100 armor, it only regenerates at 15/s (while her teammates get 45 overhealth per second) so she's more vulnerable to burst in her strongest state. While also being far away from medium/long range burst hitscans and Pharah. In trying to make countering tanks harder, the changes completely nerf Brig specifically

A scoreboard is not a mistake. If someone on your team dies 10 times and everyone else on your team has like 4-5 deaths, that person is the main reason for losing. Without the scoreboard people wouldnt know what the problem is and would probably flame the whole team. But with a scoreboard people know who the problem is and be able to avoid them.

I've seen plenty of players use it to see their Ana getting killed a lot and adapting to help her survive. But I've seen many more see the Ana getting killed then blame her almost exclusively for the team losing, or for the Ana to play much more risky to try and overcompensate for her healing number being below the Lúcio who's been on heal boost all match.

Apex has by far the superior game mechanics and balance philosophy (every character has baseline value with individuality as a layer on top, so every character can kill every character)
Apex is simply more fun to play when it goes well
Overwatch has by far the superior devs/management and playerbase. The devs actually seem to care and take a variety of action to show us. Also most games in overwatch are nowhere near as punishing in terms of toxicity as apex is. You could get one toxic guy in apex who literally gets you killed intentionally in ranked and you cant leave or you get punished. hot take: the DPS passive will never be both balanced and impactful because there are too many hero design limitations in every single role. self-heal tanks like Hog and Mauga, along with consistent single-target healers Mercy and Lifeweaver, will be extremely difficult to keep balanced since they are are constantly healing either themselves or others as part of their core design; make their numbers too low and the passive will just invalidate their healing, make the numbers too high and the healing becomes uncounterable if you aren't on DPS. damage heroes are then given an additional parameter to balance around, being how much they can reliably apply the passive, which heavily buffs hitscan and longer ranged heroes. the game is just simply not built around this sort of passive and the game's balance cannot sustain it.

Hot take? there are high mmr gold players and low mmr gold players. High mmr golds have little time to queue ranked but are good at the game. (Follow current trends and strategies/watch youtubers/follow steamers) Low mmr golds have plenty of time to queue, are newer to the game and have a smaller hero pool. Players at the center of the bell curve of skill rating will vary the most in talent of any rank.

That’s the point though- metal ranks can’t deal with a small hitbox character that has a bail out option even if you make contact.

One of the more casual games out there? The entirety of Elden Ring was easier than some of these inanely cracked players. But then again, you play alongside people I imagine the enemy deems actually worthy of attention, rather than focusing you first *and* unopposed by the rest of the team 99 percent of the time.

The enemy tries too hard! My allies don't try hard enough! (I'll be with you shortly to tell you how hard I want you to try, once I see which team you're on.)

Hot Take: Cass's ultimate is actually decent, it depends on your positioning. The only ultimate that is hot garbage is doomfist

HOT TAKE: there should be text above a characters head when resolving nonbeginner friendly abilities (this could be turned off) for example reaper and junker queen lifesteal, sigma and dva absorb, genji reflect, baptiste immortality, kiriko cleanse, hog heal, and many more.

Hot take: clash will be the worst gamemode ever when it gets released, the fact that imma wait 20 mins Qs just for a 6 mins match is just not fun, they did this mistake with push with the 10 mins matches, and they are doing it again, i think that any gamemode that cant have a 15m match is just bad design. Fast matches should not exist in comp, only in quick play cause well, its supposed to be quick in there

Point #1 is exactly what I’ve been saying for a long time: Overwatch works best as a semi-casual game like Smash Bros.
The competitive scene should have been left to grow organically instead of trying to force an Esport that nobody took seriously.
I think if you took Overwatch’s engine and made it more of an arena shooter than a role-based team objective game you’d end up with a more popular, more fun game.

It's also why making QP comp-lite was a mistake.

HOT TAKE: Tank is a psychological problem, not a balance one. Now, don't get me wrong, there are obvious problems in designing a role like a tank, an MMORPG role archetype, into a game genre that is completely estranged from an FPS. But I have multiple hundred hours in both OW1 and, today, OW2, and Tank doesn't feel that bad to me. I think that when people say that playing tank feels bad, what they actually mean is that it feels bad IN COMPARISON to what they used to feel as a Tank in OW1 (when there were 2 tanks), aka, in OW1 tanks were more like beefy DPS, charging in for kills, meanwhile in OW2, with only one tank, you actually have to put your beefy peeler/crowd controller/guardian breaches on and actually protect and make space for the team, rather than charging in every time the button goes off cd. And that is the point for me; as a main tank player in MOBAS and the like, I like playing an actual tank-tank, an unbreakable wall that slowly pushes forward and protects his teammates, not looking for kills at every moment. People have a skewed perception of what a tank role is/should feel like, and should realize that protecting, setting up kills for others, and soaking dmg IS the tank experience and it shouldn't be different. If you want to deal dmg, get kills, and feel like the star of the show, play DPS. Tanks require more humble personalities.

I am not adressing off-tanks because the comment is already long enough and Kar won't use it in his next video XD
But bottom line is, there are 100% tanks that are more aggro, but those are off-tanks, and a whole other category. And by design, Rein (a tank-tank), shouldn't feel like Roadhog, Junker Queen, Ball, and so on (off-tanks), because they are two completely different archetypes, the only thing they have in common is a beefy HP bar. One protects his team with a big ass shield, the others legit rushes in with a knife and an axe, these are obviously characters meant to be played differently. But people will play Rein and complain that it can't play dive like a Junkerqueen, because "I just sit there with my shield up, I don't get kills" etc etc, well, my friend, it seems that you don't have a problem with Tank, you just have a problem with Rein. Which is a problem with a very simple solution, just don't play Rein. Becuase I, for one, like to prioritize using the SHIELD which is THE MAIN PART OF HIS KIT, not THE HAMMER (and Flatz can fight me on this), and make cover and space that way for my team, swinging only when I'm in range or I'm peeling from flankers and divers.
So yeah, I think people have different expectations when it comes to play a Tank, and at least from my point of view, some of these expectations are a bit misguided.
