      $250 US Dollars??? ARe you serious? Is the flooding as bad as people say it is? Or is that only in some areas?

      @@MoveAbroadandThrive We havent experienced any flooding, we moved here in May. And yes, $5000 mxn.

      @@wakeupyisrael77 That's good to hear... Sounds like you're in the right spot cause we've had some serious rain over the last couple months. If it was gonna flood, it would have already done so.

      How far are y’all from Merida?? And how do I find apartments in this area ?

      @@69daviddion I no longer live in that area but it’s called FRACC Las America’s 2. These community of houses are located in Mérida about 25 minutes from the city center.

    So helpful that you showed how you called them - you did very well! I feel so self-conscious talking in Spanish and I would be so nervous to call. But you showed me I have nothing to worry about!
    Plus the guy spoke English :)... Thank you!

    Man! My Spanish is good, but I guess I didn't have the confidence like you. Super proud of you. Haha. I'll try to call next time I would like to ask some questions like you just did. Haha. This looks like the way to find a spot especially because you are driving the area getting to know it better. I need to drive around and find an area I like, then find for a place in the area. This is the first video I've seen like this, which from my understanding is the recommended way to find the best places to stay. 👌

    • @MoveAbroadandThrive
      @MoveAbroadandThrive  3 года назад +2

      Absolutely... I'm finding this to be a great way to find real deals. I've previously been too scared to call but now I'm not to concerned. I just try and mix some basic words together and hope they understand, lol. In this case I got lucky and got an English speaking person on the second call. My spanish is HORRIBLE... So if your spanish is better, then you ain't got no excuse not to call, LOL... Go for it and have fun!

      @MoveAbroadandThrive  3 года назад +2

      LOL ... It happens ... I've done that a few times myself. I like Altabrisa and where I'm currently at, Montebello. Hotel wise, there's a Residence Inn here with full kitchen/stove. Do a search on Google for Residence Inn Merida and u generally get better rates from the booking engine versus going through the Marriott website. It's on a great side of town next to a mall, shopping and restaurants.

      @@MoveAbroadandThrive I didn't sleep last night so booked a spot at 3am. I'm here now. Got a place on Calle 4 Montecristo. We got off at the ADO in Altibrista this morning had to go back to that mall this afternoon for food bc I can't get uber to work properly. Without transportation it's gonna be rough. The taxi that dropped us from the bus station has taken us back and for today. 70 peso each way. My budget ain't ready for this. Trying to go to the beach tomorrow.

    Practicing Spanish regularly will increase confidence. You're doing good. I think the prices are nice but concerned about the flooding issue. The area looks nice with adequate conveniences.
