    Very valuable information, Cartess. Even though I have been living in Playa del Carmen on my own for 7 years since the age of 73, I still joined your group because I am still learning a lot. I am an activist for anyone who wants to live a peaceful life. Seniors deserve to live their final days in a pleasant atmosphere. I thank God that I have found my bit of paradise. I hope others will find their WHY and go for it! Believe me, it will be worth it!

      that is wonderful! i'm in Playa now:) how do you plan for your end of life care? Like will you have children that will come over to help you? That is my only concern about growing old here as they don't have a lot of elderly care

      @@PsychicZya I agree that it would be great to have more facilities for seniors. There is a business in Merida, but, that climate doesn't suit my health. My son travels the world and over the years he and I have established a network of locals who will pitch in in time of need. My Will is in English and Spanish. Are you a senior?

      @@BrendaZallito that is amazing! I can't do Merida too hot! Whoot! No I'm not a senior long way off atually lmaoo but I want to start thinking about these things now...though in 25+ years things could look very differently so maybe I'm worried about it for nothing ...thank you for sharing your story it's very inspirational

    i've lived around the world- i'm realizing that i've relatively settled in with ease - getting a place in mexico city was a hassle but i did get one. I don't think one's transition has to be hard- just remain flexible and DO NOT expect things to be like at home. Use Google translate and remember to laugh a lot - these are the types of experiences that make your elderly years really enjoyable cause you'll have some amazing memories

    I to did not plan for retirement, I have been considering coming there to visit and even move there. I now live in Dallas Tx. But l heard that people are living on under 2000 dollars per month. I’m single and retired and living off of a little over 3100 dollars per month so l should be able to live OK there. My problem is the Mexican consulate says you need to be making a little over 4000 dollars per month I’ve given up on moving there but admire the people who were and are brave enough to make that transition. I really have no computer skills, other than googling, texting and so on. I’m coming to visit soon and hopefully meet you Robert and Angel, and Tia Niki and invite you all out for Dinner and Drinks and shoot the breeze I’m so excited to see People of Color getting out and leaving this rat race and doing wonderful things outside the US. I’m turning 70 soon and just a little worried about making that transition GOD BLESS all who have evacuated this USBS like Tia always says. I’ve learned so much watching you all do your thing.

      Hi! Don't give up! Mexico is ALWAYS changing their residency programs and there are people your age and older who are moving here. It's not as hard as you think!

    • @PsychicZya
      @PsychicZya 14 дней назад

      So that means you only need to make an extra $1300 per month...or so -- so look for freelance work- maybe teaching English online to show that income that you need for at least 6 months - get your residency and then quit if you want

    Great content topic Cartess. Your advise is excellent. As an native ethnic Mexican I can tell you that you are partially correct. As a worker ,any foreigner or Mexican coming or returning to Mexico , you cannot make an wage comparable to current US $. However, if that bricklayer, engineer, Professional cook, or hair stylist operates a business and earns in pesos, you can earn nicely. In my research in Merida, as a Network/Software Engineer, I can charge as much as an beginner Engineer for my services and businesses will pay it. I can then afford to hire qualified people in Merida and pay them top rate which is north of $1,000 /Mx a day plus benefits. I will say that it is not easy for my type of work but I have found customers.

    For those working remotely in Mexico without the approval of their boss/company would be grounds for termination. Not a smart move for any responsible person. If someone wants to relocate to Mexico and does it on a Tourist Visa because they do not qualify for either Residency Program or the RNE will eventually jeopardize their move. It’s a matter of time.

      In US WE HAVE JOBS no American wants- I know this from real life not social media, ex. dairy farmer can't find Ameican's who will show up at 5 am to millk...they are on drugs or quit. FACT shared to me by older white male who was friends with person. IN US many immigrants do jobs like CROP PICKING, meat slaugher/packing etc. hard jobs very few Americans want at the pay they get.
