My experience with the Police was similar as I got lost in Mexico City driving in circles and I was given a motorcade assist out of the area to the freeway I needed to head out on... They were VERY nice!!

Mine was getting off the cuota on the way to CDMX airport. The cops were kind enough to very obviously put their hands on their pistols and suggest that we pay their $800 multa in cash. Took a lot of bad Spanish negotiation back and forth to get out for $40. Gringo is always wrong with the police. First and foremost, your name is Pinche Cajero Automatico.

Uau! I am speechless about the medical care. Getting the doctors direct #!!! I was dealing with severe, life changing sciatic pain, went to my family doctor and he gave me meds for pain for 10 days. He said come back in 10 days if not better. Nothing was helping and when I called to schedule another appointment 7 days later( it usually take 2 to 3 weeks to see him) I was told he had left on holidays for 2 months. Now, if you live in Canada you know that emergency takes 6-10 hrs of wait and usually they just band aide whatever you have and so do the walk in clinics…🇨🇦😢 I want to move to Mexico just for the medical system if nothing else. Currently studying Spanish as much as I can.

I was really appreciative that he shared the epiphany he had about the understanding of local value comparison to the U.S. value of housing. I live in Texas, and as of the last two years, I've watched a 1900 sq ft home priced at $72k (in 2019) on the market now being sold for $325k. Californians and those from Illonois (the two major groups moving here) drive up the prices so dramatically that it is pricing out the locals. I would not want this to happen to Mexico.

This helped me a lot:) I have to start out in Baja Sur bc of my dog:) we can't fly so I must drive and I am 70 now:( but no medical issues whatsoever:) I found a lawyer in Merida who said he could help me w/ my Permanent Visa but it is far from Baja:) Maybe we will drive all the way there after we spend time in La Paz. But I do feel better after hearing Cartess. I have watched his channel B4 but this was really good. As I get older, I get more fearful about stupid things:)

    • @marioavila7750

That is an urban legend, and that same legend applies for some other cities with very low crime rate. The truth is that Merida is not an important market for drugs, and it is not an important rout for the drug dealers to get to the US, and besides that, Merida and the Yucatan was almost isolated from the rest of the country and that helped create a strong community sense. Anyway, Merida has been one of the safest cities not only of Mexico but of all of the American continent (it was even the second safest city only after Quebec in Canada, so it is safest than all US cities).
