Homemade Pork Tocino

  • Pork tocino is a sweet cured pork served for breakfast with garlic rice and eggs aka tosilog (tocino, sinangag and itlog).
    This recipe doesn't have any preservatives and food color yet it tastes like the usual tocino we are used to.
    Ingredients:
    2 lbs. pork shoulder (cut into thin strips)
    ½ cup 7-up or sprite
    ½ cup pineapple juice
    1 cup brown sugar
    3 tbsp. ketchup
    2 tbsp. soy sauce
    ½ tbsp. garlic powder or 2 cloves minced garlic
    2 ½ tsp. salt
    ½ tsp. ground black pepper
    Mix all the ingredients and add the meat of choice. Let it cure for at least 2 days before frying. You can do as much and freeze for future use.
    *you can use chicken or other meat.
