I discovered this channel about a week ago. I'm enjoying them over here in South Korea but hope to be putting some of the knowledge you impart to the test in North Carolina in a few weeks. My 13 year old daughter discovered that she really likes fishing and I'm going to take her to some of the same waters my father took me. I appreciate that you actually teach "how to" and give solid tips to improve my fishing. Keep up the great work!
Richard, this may be my favorite video yet. Top 5 of all of yours Ive watched and I've been watching since you only had 80,000 subs. You are getting better and better with your teaching, content and humor! You are an amazing Man! I admire you so much :)
Richard, got me some slab tails from watching you fishing in creeks! So excited to try these out! I’ll have to get me some of those hand tied jigs next! A bit steep of a price but man you seem to use those just about as much if not more! Fishing really is a sport second to none, in my opinion! Love the videos!
I was catching crappie yesterday on some bluegill I got with my minnow trap. The end of the day a 3lb bass grabbed one and gave me a heck of a fight on some 2lb line. I let out a big WOOOO and got one back from another boater.
Man I appreciate you and your videos! I believe in your ways, I get a kick out of your humor! And I am thankful for your sharing of your faith 🙏🏻!!! I only wish I could could be half the fisherman that you are! It would be the best to go crappie fishing with you! God bless you and keep on keeping on 🙏🏻
Dude, I wish I had a grandfather like you. My grandfather was B52 pilot, so he was pretty awesome, but I hope I can be like you when I am a grandfather! I have an 11 year old, so I got a few years to go! But when I am your age, I will look to you for inspiration! These videos are awesome!
Hi Richard. Judging from the crank handle on that 2052 is either a EE 1966, ED 1967, EC 1968, EB 1969 and some early DA 1970. Later DA’ s and through the 70’s just weren’t made to the same quality as the earlier models. I have two, a ED and an early DA. Great little reel!
This video is so Full of classic Richard Gene Fishin Machine Woo! This is Hall of Fame Woo! This Woo right here is Second to None! Now watch it! This Woo will be Good Fer Ya! ! ! (Thank you Mr Machine)
I love you Richard Gene the fishing machine your the best you make me smile and laugh every-time you start the WOOO!! I thank the Lord for you! Keep it up brother
I caught covid sometime back his channel is the only one I ever watched for hours learn so much he explains things so down to the point and it's clean for kids and everybody to watch
If you can't seem to get depths rite on your jig, 1/4 ounce jig falls 1ft per second, count down 1001,1002, 1003,and so on. Lighter jigs takes experience. Thanks for the videos always great to see you!
If I’m correct the reel was made approximately 1970. Wt 8.6 oz 4.7/1 gear ratio and holds 250 yards of 4lb test and graded 8+/9 very good quality reel. Found on the web. I’m a new subscriber about 7 months now. Love your videos.
Keep em comin! I'm not a big crappie fisherman but I've follow some of your techniques and they've worked. I mostly pond fish and have caught a lot of crappie from the bank
I bought the same reel in a pawn store yesterday,, got it home took it apart and lubed it up , looking for a rod to put it on ,, great video as always Richard,. God bless you and your family,,
Thanks Richard for another good trip. Of course any trip that your fishin on is a good one. Glad you got Mama Sue some fish, I'd hate for her to tell you that she's eating bologna and beans and you can have pop knocks. lol For folks that don't know, that's knocks on the noggin. Not good at dinner time. Love your videos buddy. God bless you and your family and have a blessed day my friend.
Crappie fishing is definitely temperamental. I got to learn to be more patient when I use jigs. I use minnows when I crappie fish. I was at my lake house this week and used crickets and red worms. We caught the limit but after 10:30 am they quit biting and started back around 4:30 pm. The surface temperature was 86 degrees in the morning and up to 92 in the afternoon. We caught mainly bream and few shellcrackers. Like your videos and God bless
I was out there this morning in my kayak just staring straight up. It was like a planetarium. I kept seeing satellites going by. I could see so many stars. It was beautiful.
Love your videos man been a long time subscriber I enjoy all of the great personality also the great Things you bring up lots of cool ideas and I have tried a couple of them
Your videos always make me want to drop what I am doing and go fishing. I am curious as to how you catch and cook white bass as I have never figured out a way to make them taste good. Please show us sometime…
Da gone man . I'm glad I fount chu! I appreciate what you're doing. My daddy in law could catch Crappie jigging but I guess that I didn't pay close enough attention. He dead and gone but I'm paying attention to you and if it will cool off just a smidgin, then I am going fishing! Thankee much!
I agree that certain times fish will only bite a certain color. I went out yesterday and I saw bluegill and shad all over on top. I tried bluegill and shad colors with no bites. The bites I was getting were from downsized lures. But I still couldn't land a fish. So after thinking about it for a while, I went with a white glass ghost lure and caught and landed 3 fish within 15 minutes. That was all for the morning though. It was very tough. Over the past couple of years, I have been learning the baitfish that swim the waters that I fish as well as the predators. Even when you have new stockings, it's good to know the predator fish the biologists stock because that's food for the bigger fish. Great video.
Hello Richard I enjoy all the information you put in your videos. I love vintage reel and rods. I'm a huge Johnson century reel collector. Have about 15 different reels.
This is my first time to see your video. Thanks. I suspect it will help my crappie fishing. We don't keep anything less than 11". I would rather let them grow up more.
Jean I love your shows, and I love you and Mama Sue, what I love the most is that you love our Lord and Savior just as I do. Keep up the good work and God bless you and yours.
I totally feel ya on the finicky behavior at times. Trying different actions until you get a reaction. At the least, you'll get a lot of wrist exercise. 😀
Hey buddy I love your videos. I wanted to share with you my favorite crappie lure. My favorite lure is a 02 size storm curly tail minnow. I tend to get more bites using it on a jig spinner.
At my favorite lake, I have to fish very differently than most people recommend. The shad will come up in very thick swarms, literally thousands. Even if I jig directly below them, I don't get many bites. There are just too many of them for my lure to be attractive. Instead, I have to jig very deep, about a foot off the bottom. The sonar will actually show nothing there--all the crappie are active at the bottom of and throughout the shad swarm. Yet at a foot off the bottom, I tend to have the best luck.
Always reassuring to see The Man Himself using a bait that's in your tackle box; if it's good enough for Richard, then apparently I have good taste! 🙏🎣💜
RGTFM, Howdy; Truly enjoy your videos. Sometimes miss the "Back East fishin'" it's a bit different, yet fairly much the same here in Southern New Mexico. Have 2 nice lakes near here Cabello & Elephant Butte both have crappie, just not as plentiful as your area. Thank you for taken us with ya on your fishin' trips.
Richard, please don't ever change, you are a master teacher and a great communicator.
Amen
