That's cool. I just started crappie fishing last year to me they are similar to hunting a whitetail buck anybody can go kill a deer but to target a wise old mature buck you have to constantly change your stratagey to get him. He's different than other deer . Crappie fishing to me is like hunting you have to keep trying different methods to be successful. This video just tought me allot of valuable information. Thank you
Great video Greg. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I know your often busy with your clients, and I learn from those videos too, but really enjoy your instruction videos.
Thank you Glenn for the different techniques to fish for crappie. I learned a lot from your video and greatly appreciate all the information. God bless you and have a great week. Mike Brady
Enjoyed your video, Greg. Sure wish there were crappie here in Alaska. Used to fish for crappie in a small lake when I was stationed in Louisiana. Great fishing there certain times of the year and some delicious eating. My oldest had fun catching, too. It was her first experience fishing.
Loved the video. I'm an over the road truck driver and I hope that some day I can have you as a guide. Just heard you say a free video of the trip. Awesome! Will have to bring my wife and 13 yr old daughter.
Awesome channel Fan tastic information keep up the great work I know you love doing what you do so do I the world would fish more it be a better place thanks once again
I find and catch good size crappie using a shallow water crank bait on a Carolina rig. I troll different depths or slow role the bottom. One day I desided to think out side the box. It works incredibly well.
Greg, thank you for sharing your experience's in getting those summertime crappie to bite. Really enjoyed it. Had my wife watch it with me, we both learned some new techniques.
Hi Greg, My hats off to ya, great video! Thank you for all the time and effort, much appreciated. Your doing a fantastic job..... please keep up the good works! God bless....
I enjoy all your "how to videos" - very practical and informative information. You make it simple and easy to understand. You seem to fish brush piles that you put out. Any suggestions for best places to look for brush piles when you don't know where they are - for example if you were fishing a lake you had never fished, but wanted to fish brush pile(s)? Thanks for sharing!
Tim I live here in middle Ga as well. I have been fishing Sinclair a lot. but i'm thinking of going up to Oconee. You have any favorite coves you mind sharing?
Greg, you really have taught me something today. I will be using these techniques.Video very informative. but i would like to know what kind of minnow box did you have in the video?
Great info I never tried to count down I'm going to have to try it this weekend. I'm going to subscribe and look forward to more tips. Thank you for the video.
Hello Greg... I really like your videos. Thank you for showing these four technics and the tips also. I mainly fish Lake Eufaula in Alabama. I've always fished with live minnows but this year I want to learn how to fish with hand tied jigs and plastic jigs. I have some on the way from Mr. Perry at Moonshine Crappie Jigs. I have been using a Mr. Crappie rod & reel and a 6.5' Berkley rig. I really like the action on the Mr. Crappie rod except it is a pretty short rod so I think I will get me one of the Mr. Crappie Slab King 10' rod. Thanks again for the videos. Lets go fishing!!!
Hi Greg We live on Lake Medina in Lakehills, Tx which is about 20 miles southeast of Bandera, Tx. The Lake was built in 1912 and for the most is a huge Rock Impoundment and very hilly. I saw where you said the north side of big trees and visible stumps and to look at points. My question is Do you have any suggestions where we might look and at what depth and I'd like to know what you charge and when we might come to go fishing with you.
Usually, but not always. As you can see on this video, the water was about 18' deep, but the brush came up within 9' from the top. You should be able to see where they are on your graph.
What do you think of crappie bites-nibbles(just a ? )im a big fan of yours just wandering I've never tried them and was considering maybe using them one day?????
thanks for the answer. I really would like to know more about that. I see people drive right on top of them and vertical jig, and some people hit the stump with the oar. If I drop something large in the water, my crappie is gone. If i get too close, my crappie is gone. If i yell to someone in another boat, my crappie is gone. I don't know why only my crappie gets spooked.
the morning after the tsunami hit Phillippines on Christmas Eve, our building tiled a little toward the south along the east-west line going between the building and the pond. we all felt it. My dog felt it and began to growl. water everywhere carries that kind of jolt and it alarms the fish big time, no kidding. not only the impact, but the jostling coming up from the ground, and the sound of it travels underground in ways we do not hear but they do. Count on it. When fish stop biting, something very wrong somewhere.

I don't like to get right over the top of the brush pile if it's 6' or less down to the brush. I think the wave action from the Motorguide XI5 bothers them sometimes.
This is ture BUT, it is the magnetic field around the earth that was interrupted when the earth quake hit. It may have been sound and vibration also. Good job!

How did you run your transducer cable on the xi5? Does it have built in so or? I just bought an xi3 and am rigging it on my Grizzly Tracker. Thanks
Transducer on the XI5 is built into the foot of the trolling motor. Thanks for watching!
On your straight rod fishing with a minnow, did you have a weight on the line about 12" above the hook? what size?

I usually look at the end of long points. Also on the north side of any standing timber. Thanks for watching!

with the straight line jig, or minnow where you using a weight above the bait?
About 18" above. For too reasons. One to get down quicker, and two to hold it a little straighter in the wind. Thanks for watching!
Good info. Do crappie go to deeper brush during the summer? Thanks for sharing.
Usually, but not always. As you can see on this video, the water was about 18' deep, but the brush came up within 9' from the top. You should be able to see where they are on your graph.
I just subscribed to this channel. Good video. Do you have a video on making brush piles?
Yes, it's called: "How to build a crappie hotel" ruclips.net/video/o2SSm97L8fo/видео.html
Thanks for watching
Thanks!
Forgot to ask f you had any videos on tying knotts for hooks.
Yes, here it is. ruclips.net/video/BT5e4VRc-V4/видео.html
Thanks again.
Have you ever heard of the Crappie Psychic. He makes jig heads and baits and Trailers you should check him out he is from south Louisiana
What do you think of crappie bites-nibbles(just a ? )im a big fan of yours just wandering I've never tried them and was considering maybe using them one day?????
I don't personally use them, but many swear by them. I keep a couple of jars in the boat for customers that ask for them. Thanks for watching!
i have a few res i fish that dont have many brushpiles where would u look to find summer crappie
How do you tell a bobber bite if theres wind and you can’t tell when its getting bitten
Who makes the boat look good 👍
What size minnow cooler it that 7.5 or 13
7.5
What Brand of crappie boat Do you have?
tell me about noise. What can spook them away?
Not nessesarily just the noise. I think sometimes the wave action from the Motorguide XI5 can spook them if they're fininky.
Thanks for watching!

Great video, as always. Thanks. One question: How shallow do you think is too shallow to sit the boat over the top of them?
I don't like to get right over the top of the brush pile if it's 6' or less down to the brush. I think the wave action from the Motorguide XI5 bothers them sometimes.
Greg Fenn/Camoriver Guide Service Thanks a bunch for the reply
Good info
Minnow or weight on top?
Weight on top. Thanks for watching!
This is ture BUT, it is the magnetic field around the earth that was interrupted when the earth quake hit. It may have been sound and vibration also. Good job!
