I would love to see your current collection of blazers, for example, and for you to explain why you got them, brand, fabric type and weight and whether they fit loose or not so as to teach us what styles are most versatile and which patterns are useable or not, where you got them from etc. I am sure I am not alone in wanting you to going in-depth. And never, but never apologize for the videos being too long. They are always over too soon. 💓
I am Italian... I do appreciate your way of summarizing the current trends and really curious to see you interpreting them, as in my wardrobe I have gathered through the years all the spectrum if colours so I know I will be wearing my yellow trousers or "vitamin C orange" dress as I usually do even if not on trend 😜 but since I discovered you, I stopped purchasing without intention and shopped my closet more often than not... thanks a lot for all the work you do!
Thanks for this. I am planning my travel clothes for a trip to Italy at the end of May. This trip was planned for 2019, but... You have given me some more ideas for outfit combos. I love your videos. Your bubbly positive attitude is contagious. At 66 years old, I love a maxi skirt! I will be packing a favorite brown linen a line maxi skirt with beautiful detailed cutouts that I purchased about 15 years ago.
Good synopsis of ‘22 trends! With each one, my thoughts were: “been there, done that” (except the mini skirt). Nothing new in fashion,, is there? I’m 71. Still have soft-tailored jackets from the 90s in my closet - not because I hoard clothes, but because they looked good all this time. Also, I stitched them myself 😊.
Nice colors! I love it! Blacks, creams and grays are boring and an indication of lack of imagination. The ideal is to be able to combine them, and show femininity
I'm in mid seventies and similar to yourself, still enjoy my tailored jackets that I own as lean towards 'classic'. (Favourite is a wool blend camel-hair one that I refuse to part with.) Also not so much now, but there was time I too sewed much of my clothing.
Such a good point, that trends can be a good way to take advantage of new availability of things that fit your own classic look. For example, I have bright, cool coloring with high contrast, AKA "winter." Jewel tones and brights are my best "accent" colors. I am looking for something in my price range in the new cool saturated pink colors that were on some runways. It's a color that suits me and isnt always available. Its also a color I will continue to wear long after the trend is over.
Same here. I'm also loving the Kelly green this year, which is also not always available. We can always get black, white and red but not always other beautiful jewel tones.
I love dramatic-romantic-classic, style so I'm living for the balloon sleeves and midi skirts that were having a moment in 2021. I'll sew more of those when I'm ready. They also look amazing on me (I'm a Soft Dramatic in the kibbe system). I also love preppy style, so I'm glad that's back in fashion! I'm a true spring & I love bright colours, so those will always be here to stay for me. I'm glad the stuff I like are back in trend, because it'll be easier to build my closet. I gained 26 pounds in the past 3 years, so most of my clothes don't fit me anymore.
I loved this video!!! Italian fashion is underrated nowadays, everyone is about Paris but the country has made such an impact on fashion over the decades!
CIAO Alyssa, Catch the weather report. Specially this spring @ crazy California, we're we face the beach and snow, specially this last winter. I'm working put un steet style trends with a multicolor purse that my relatives gave me as Israel souvenirs. But currently I'm adopting street style and mix trends with courdoroy pants and jackets for the season change before summer comes to spoil "My winter"change. Grab trends and fabricks for the season transition. Spring and fall are my favorites. Love the content of your video open minded 👍😎 CIAO and thumbs up girl
I forgot to mentioned, animal print shoes, looking forward to get loafers with that print. Cause in My tops or bottoms, I don't like them, but the street style trends, I do pursuit ti style them in the streets 👍👌😎
Gracie mille per la vidéo. Tutto bene como siempre! Or something like that! I'm glad I don't throw anything! Out are my colorful and animal printed shirts! I love Italian style and quality of the garment.
I pay attention to trends as well - mostly because I enjoy seeing some themes from the many runway shows - I can add a few fresh pieces for the season that reflect what I already wear (bright colours) - sometimes it reminds me of things I already have and can just put more on the forefront for the season - and as Alyssa mentioned, trends can provide more options for the season of things you already love (eg. maxi skirts) - Cheers!
I love the blue, animal print and slouchy tailoring. I have a second hand, blue, Roberto Cavalli scarf that fits this and have been wearing spring. I love the drama and flamboyance of Italian style 🙂
You should totally move that plant to your right side! So it frames you with the clothing rack. Love the videos! So glad you are making them even in Portugal!!
I loved seeing the fashion trends and like you I will not be taking part in them, unless it’s a bright coloured bag. Looking forward to seeing you interpretation. I watch your videos and screen shot the outfits so that I can shop in my own wardrobe for similar. Loved the last Italian video. Italians always look so chic. I’m a fan of anything Italian. ❤️
That is because both languages are based on Latin, which you may already know.🙂 French & Spanish, too. I believe there may be some similarities in Romanian as well. This group is called the Romance Languages (Romans spoke Latin.)
Looking good on the scooter! Very useful for planning with accessory pops of color or shoes... I love your Italian and French style videos. I have yellow stilletos. May be time to find them! Have a safe week. Snow today but gone tomorrow. Be safe. I will watch the green video next! Xo from 🇨🇦 Joanne
I've always been a classic neutrals girl, but this year...I pulled out my orange leather jacket and found two shirt jackets on ebay in cardinal and a true blue. I'm keeping my eye out for a blouse or skirt with a print...I barely recognize myself. Covid didn't take my sense of smell, but it sure changed my sense of style!
Alyssa you know your last name means “good times” and I always have a good time watching you. I think you have such a calming and nice personality and even though I look nothing like you I do get ideas for my outfits. It would be very nice if you could do a video with some suggestions for very short and curvy ladies, it is specially difficult to find flattering jeans and trousers.
Fun video! You look like you're having fun in Portugal. So happy for you. I need to get out my spring and summer clothing. All these bright colors, pastels, florals, animal print, and oversized pieces are really tempting me in the stores LOL. They do say...out of sight, out of mind.I cant wait to see what treasures I have collected. In my own personal experience, my spring and summer clothes wear out more quickly than my winter clothes mainly because the heat, sweat stains, washing more often as a result, and thinner fabrics. So I usually need to refresh my closet with basic tees and tops especially. Looking at Trends is fun as long as we know what works for us. I bought a gorgeous teal colored dress because that color is a favorite of mine, and I haven't seen it in a long time.
Thank you! It's a fun way to shop your closet by bringing them out of storage. Great point about warmer weather clothing wearing out faster, this is true! xx
I like your point about buying the teal dress while that color is available. I don't wear a lot of bright colors but when they come around it is time to look for that one special color, whatever it is.
@@faithkaltenbach7345 It is so refreshing to see new colors coming into the stores this spring. Warm colors like rust, mustard and Olive have been so popular for a long time, this teal isn't even a color I've seen when thrift shopping. Of course neutrals are always in style, so my closet is filled with neutrals. This teal looks so nice on my skin tone. If I see it in other garments, I'll pick them up too. Who knows if this is just a one season color? I usually wear my clothes until they are too stained or threadbare and sadly go into the trash and donate the few that were mistakes but still in good shape.
Hi Alyssa, it’s great that you’re becoming “international” ! I have key pieces in my wardrobe or accessories that I wear year after year , such the orange , green, and blue , and pink as a pop of colour with my neutrals. They always work! Congratulations on working with Vogue and also articles where your fashion principles are quoted in the March/April “green issue “ of Chatelaine magazine. 💄❤️🇨🇦
That's interesting. I had never heard of Chatelaine magazine as I am in the UK but I have just found it online. Is the article online? It would be great if you could provide a link to it. I've browsed through the fashion section but not having much luck. Thank you.

I love Italian fashion! I am updating my closet rn to match this style. Also, I am back from Tel Aviv, and I went thrift shopping there. I found an amazing piece to bring back. Now, I can't wait to wear it. Your channel inspired me to start thrifting 💜🙏🏻💙
Grazie mille, watching this video I've a sinking feeling that maybe my signature style isn't 'preppy, casual' as I thought. I've just been stuck in the 90's the entire time 😂 Oh well, if it works, it works.

Great video. I live in Rome. "Biker" jackets are worn a lot here. A trend that I've been noticing in stores is colourful suits. Lots of Green, Lailac, pink. I'm thinking of buying one, but can't decide what colour.

Ie Portugal vs Canada, Italy vs France, Sweden vs Italy etc keep up the great videos ps have you found any nice pieces from the thrift shop there??❤️
Great summary of new trends -- seems so 80s! I'm a fairly new subscriber and I want to thank you for your great ethical perspective -- slow fashion, yes for sure. But also how what you are doing is encouraging us women to be authentic and to not get sucked into the overwhelming imaging and marketing on social media that dictates how women should look, be, what we should own and how so many influences push products in the guise of "helping" us to feel better about ourselves when it's actually just about selling products to make us look a certain way. Sad to see in this time that women are still primarily seen as commodities. So, than you, fellow Canadian, for underlying a good dose of reality, reason, and self-worth beyond expensive purchases or trying to fill a need with more purchases (again, as most influences encourage). Salut.
wow Allison! thank you for your your thoughtful and kind comment, I'm glad you take that out of these videos it really means a lot. xx Hello from a fellow Canadian in Portugal!
Alyssa, in my mind you are my BFF and we travel to your home town regularly. Hearing you speak just then brought back memories of one of our many adventures.... Thank you. 😊 P.S. am l wrong didn't you grow up in Italy?
Thank you Alyssa. I'd also include pastel blue to the white trend which seems to be appearing everywhere. I've added to my wardrobe straight jeans and a wide leg jean with a fitted hip which I find very flattering. Trench coats also seem to be everywhere in the shops. I love brights but with my Spring colouring, bright reds and yellow based greens have been a staple in my wardrobe most of my life. I was wondering though, if you see a move away from the white sneaker or just sneakers in general?
I have the legs for minis, thanks to genetics, but those days are past for me, at age 61. I do wear above-knee length, but try to keep it no more than 3” above the kneecap. It just looks more age-appropriate.
Cool trends. I personally feel leopard is a neutral so I am happy it’s making a presence. The biker look reminds me of Marlon Brando in The Wild One 🤣 I really don’t pay attention to trends so it’s nice to know what is out there and to refresh my outfits like you mentioned. I am half Italian so this video appealed to me in a big way 💕
I love these scene in „Devil wears Prada“ 😅 I have her voice in mind to the 1990s and Y2K trend: „Same clothes as 20, 30 years ago? Groundbreaking…“ 😂 I only like the minimalistic style of the 90s as a calm opposite to the loud extrovert 80s. I love colors, but in a minimalistic, tasteful way. Y2K are my teenager years, I’m soooo over it 🙈 I like to see more of the Italian perspective, I’m an Italian in heart 😎
"Slouchy tailoring" .... hmm.... I keep hearing this term and it seems so contradictory. I don't really have a good grip on what it is, although I suspect I would like it, if I could figure it out! You may have already done a video on it, but could you consider tackling it (again)?
I've been living in North Italy for 7 years, and the trends which are timeless here (I would even call them classics and basics rather than trends) are black colour and skinny jeans for women and cropped multicolour pants for men)))))) Men look more sophisticated here than elsewhere, IMHO
I love my cargo pants! I love my pockets and the utilitarian look. So sad I didn't keep a smaller size of my Uniqlo joggers from 2 yrs ago since I lost weight in the last yr (from walking more bc I had a bicycle accident and don't ride my bike as much). I was in btwn sizes, debated keeping both sizes, and ended up keeping the larger size only. 🤷🏻♀️ 😭
While I admire Classic style, for myself a Dramatic/Romantic style is better. So, I'm thinking Slow Fashion might be easier to accomplish in Classic. Your thoughts, Alyssa? Anyone else?
Great video! My husband and I are planning an anniversary trip to Como September 26 to October 10. We have rented a flat in old Town and will be traveling only to other towns on the lake. What travel wardrobe would you recommend. We don't want to standout as Americans.
I know this is not the point of your channel to get us to shop more, but what was the italian website with the bags, where it was possible to choose the handles etc. They looked amazing.
I’m not into the bright colors, but like these other trends: white/cream, pastels (not really a trend, they’re in every spring), possibly straight maxi skirts, metallics, but mot worn all over like that. I always like to see the trends, thanks. Not to buy, I have a huge wardrobe already, but what to maybe feature more, style differently, etc.
yes! It depends where but in Rome there are some awesome secndhand shops! More on the vintage side of things though - Also found a few shops in Puglia but less so - more in the larger cities and more vintage vs. thrift or consignment if that makes sense! But it's been 2 years - I could be wrong! Will hopefully get to do that research soon! xx
Yes, there are many second hand shops in Italy, they’re usually called Il Mercatino, but, as they also sell furniture, they need big spaces, so are placed in the outskirts of towns.
Hello.I live in Italy and its a very sad place to be now.Sorry to burst your bubble but things are not good here. Your a wonderful girl and good on you for your enthusiasm.Your video is very sweet.Your video did make me happy.

I have the legs for minis, thanks to genetics, but those days are past for me, at age 61. I do wear above-knee length, but try to keep it no more than 3” above the kneecap. It just looks more age-appropriate.
Liked it a lot! Mille grazie😘
You don’t have to explain yourself about being interested in trends… but well said. Great job with your Italian. Thanks.
ahh thanks Gabriela - sometimes I have to justify these things more for myself! lol
Another great video - thank you! I'm a fan of bright colors, so I'm smiling right now.
Question: where can I find the garment rack you use?
IKEA! Couldn't find one secondhand :(
@@AlyssaBeltempo Thank you.
"Slouchy tailoring" .... hmm.... I keep hearing this term and it seems so contradictory. I don't really have a good grip on what it is, although I suspect I would like it, if I could figure it out! You may have already done a video on it, but could you consider tackling it (again)?
lol yes - I'll see if I can touch in it in future or on instagram! xx
Think Armani jackets…😉
Sei bravissima a parlare italiano! 👏
Ahh grazie Cristina!
@@AlyssaBeltempo è la verità! Continua a fare pratica e sarai perfetta!
I've been living in North Italy for 7 years, and the trends which are timeless here (I would even call them classics and basics rather than trends) are black colour and skinny jeans for women and cropped multicolour pants for men)))))) Men look more sophisticated here than elsewhere, IMHO
Grazie per il video di moda italiana, molto interessante vedere il tuo punti di vista, Elena da Milano
wow! grazie mille Elena! 🤗
I would have watched it in Italian if I had too…just would have taken longer to read and watch! 💕
While I admire Classic style, for myself a Dramatic/Romantic style is better. So, I'm thinking Slow Fashion might be easier to accomplish in Classic. Your thoughts, Alyssa? Anyone else?
I personally love a mix of Dramatic-Romantic-Classic, but honestly? It's hard to shop for. I ended up sewing the pieces I couldn't buy, but still
Wear what you love!!
Great video! My husband and I are planning an anniversary trip to Como September 26 to October 10. We have rented a flat in old Town and will be traveling only to other towns on the lake. What travel wardrobe would you recommend. We don't want to standout as Americans.
Benvenuti ad un altro incontro....
I like preppy style
I know this is not the point of your channel to get us to shop more, but what was the italian website with the bags, where it was possible to choose the handles etc. They looked amazing.
lol It is called Halite :)
I love your belt!
Enjoy this type of video
I would love to hear a complete video in Italian!!!! And use the CC for English...:-D
Brava
Have you searched if Italians shop on second hand like us here in the US and Canada? 😊
Hi Lorraine, thank you for sharing and I'm glad the video made you smile. Unforunately I think a lot of places are not the happiest these days. :( I hope you have a good week and are feeling OK. xx

Ciao Bella!
But the styles we see in Italy today are different from what you are showing.
Sorry, way too long intro.
You talk too much i would rather see more fashion pictures of clothes not just looking at you. Show the clothes while you are talking.
